Ashoka Shak - Dundee in Dundee City

Food was excellent, but service was poor. Starter and main arrived at the same time which meant the main course was cold by the time we started to eat it so not an enjoyable experience. Won't be back

Always a great meal at Nando’s Dundee. Kayla served us today (Friday) great customer service and made us all feel welcome. It’s always busy but all’s the staff work and continue to give a consistent quality and service. Thanks !

Got the half chicken with mash and corn. this was so nice and the selections of sauces are brilliant I highly recommend the lemon and herb sauce. My partner got a burger and the same sides. portions are good and worth the money. there were no issues and the chocolate dessert was so good.

Nice place for an informal meal. Amongst 4 adults and 2 children, we had the new garlic burger, sunset burgers and half a chicken as well as various sides. Everything was really well cooked and tasty.

Clean, food is always on point and staff are very helpful and friendly. It's Nando's so they do one thing and one thing only I.e. chicken. I recommend their supergrain sides, tenderstem brocoli and any other veggie sides, defo a keto friendly menu for me.

Great food and excellent service by friendly, happy staff. Customers entering and leaving kept leaving the door open so we were getting an icy draft which spoiled things a bit.

Best Nandos I have had in a while. Even though it was busy, we still got food quickly and staff were on top of keeping everything clean. Food was really tasty.

Love this place. Staff are always incredibly friendly, food always hot and tasty, and they are super chilled about us bringing a toddler in with all the extra mess that creates. Also they are amazing with allergies. Best Nando's I've been to so I keep coming back.

We visit this branch of Nando's quite often for a quick bite to eat. And it is always consistently good experience. Plenty choices of tables, helpful and polite staff, quick service and tasty food. No complaints from our family. Definitely worth to pay a visit

I don't get it, why is there such a hype around nandos?!? My partner and I went as we'd not been there in years and we won't be back ever unless we want to waste money on not great food 🤢 we shared three starters, the best being the sweet potato wedges one but when it came to the mains I had a sunset burger of which the sauce tasted more lemon and herby than the chicken?? Thought the chicken was meant to be the star here? Thankfully my chicken was not overcooked unlike my partners but like, the sauces... now I know I like spicy food... but these med/hot sauces are just spice with no flavour. The best thing on my plate was the rainbow coleslaw which is poor considering nandos is meant to be about the chicken... if you want my advice? Save some money and go to KFC... or go hom and make better chicken yourself 😊

Food was 'fine', could easily do better at home with a grill and some sauce from a shop. Service was a bit absent, quickly got a table, but was promptly told to just order using the app and go get all our stuff (cutlery, napkins, sauces) ourselves. Felt like I may as well just be at a mcdonalds. Haven't been in probably a decade, and after this experience will likely be another decade before I insult my taste buds again.

Nandos has grown on me over the years. I used to think it is an overpriced versus fast food but the food is nice & worth a trip now and then. Of course, the sauces are great - hot to mild. Attracts a young crowd. They offer a Blue Light Card discount. Place is clean, served promptly & staff kind & attentive. This particular Nandos is located off the Kings Way with free parking.

Service was good, ambience good. Food lacked flavour and bland. Disappointed.

Went here last night at 2120 by myself. Some places that close at 2200 wouldnt let you sit down as they are "closing." Not these wonderful people. Super quick service and the food was great, the service was really good, very friendly bunch working there. Offering water and generally taking good care of the patrons. Don't live in Dundee but drive through all the time and I will be back.

I took my son here for lunch as a treat. Staff were helpful & friendly. They went through everything we ordered as my son has a milk allergy. Service was fast & the food was good, but it was quiet as it was midweek.

My husband and I decided to drop in for an after movie munchie. It was a good choice; abit pricey but the flavours explain why. Everything had great flavour and the dishes arrived quickly! It's definitely one of the once in awhile treat places! We can say we've finally had a cheekie Nando's hahaha

Lovely vibrant atmosphere , staff are attentive&polite manager Gareth is very polite and accommodating ! The service was prompt and the chicken is fresh a succulent generous sides & the Wine is lovely ! Very impressed by our whole experience will certainly be back

We love this take out menu and we thought it would be a good idea to send for a home delivery but the Web site page said closed and nobody answered the phone so we could not place an order.

1st visit to ashakoshak following cinema visit.after an 1hr in the restaurant when enquired re food advised forgot to put order through..reluctant apology...after approx 1hr 15 mins..got food which was actually very good...when asked about cinema deal advertised as an every day deal on website told it was not on..no compensation for delay and unfortunately will not be back due to extremely poor customer service which is a shame as restaurant is local and the food was good and I would have gone back but too much competition now to think poor service is ok.

Ate dinner here on Sunday night 1st July. The restaurant is spacious, has nice modern décor and looked clean and tidy. The only thing that was a little shabby was the floor tiles, which could really do with being replaced.

Have recently been down in Dundee on holiday and we were really looking forward to a good curry. Going by the reviews we went for this place. Worst mistake ever! To say it was disgusting and inedible is an understatement! We had s selection of different items..one being the lamb chops which upon even opening the tub the smell was awful and they were dry and burnt. The lamb Rogan josh looked, tasted and smelt like a plate of poop!! And the South Indian garlic chilli chicken which is my favourite was just dry chicken and a ridiculously hot inedible tasteless sauce. Avoid at all costs!

Quite a small menu and food is quite decent to be honest.

My wife and I visited the Ashoka Shak early in the evening mid-week recently and had an extremely enjoyable meal.

Had a great lunch here. Good choice and very reasonable price. Had a mixed dish and it did not disappoint. Friendly welcome and great service.

We visited the Ashoka Shak recently with my parents. The food was excellent, as was the service. Particular favourites - smoked lamb curry and butter chicken. Definitely recommend for any Indian food enthusiasts!

Returned here after a long break to find they have started doing thali lunches. What a delight! I went for lamb, and my husband had the chicken. Both were delicious, especially the smoky lamb. Lovely side of chickpeas, bought extra chapatis.

Had great service from Roy and the team. Ordered hot buffet with mix of pakora samosa bhaji with 4 currys - bhuna masala and korma with lamb and chicken.

Visited today for lunch with husband and mother in law. First class service and lovely food. We had the tapas which was very tasty. We all had pudding as well . Tried the Indian desserts and they were lovely. The saffron ice cream was gorgeous. Will go again soon

This is close to the best Indian resturant I have ever visited some really unusual dishes & their smoked lamb curry is to die for... I have not been in here for a couple of years.... it was good before but now it is excellent

We eat here before we go to see a movie. Always good food and friendly service. I recommend the mince and tatty curry.... Very tasty

I visited here early afternoon as I was working and staying at the premier inn, I wasn’t sure what I wanted so spoke to the manger, a very nice man , friendly and after telling him how I like my curry he recommended me a starter and a main, they didn’t disappoint, beautiful flavours and were right on the mark for how hot I like them, a very good restaurant with nice helpful staff , I will be back, and highly recommend,

The new thali lunch menu is very good, plenty of choice and very good value. Unable to say what choices you have as it varies. One thing that annoys me is the web site as it shows the restuarant is open 7 days a week... it isn't.. closed Monday and Tuesday. I have soken to the manager several weeks ago but it still has not been updated.Strangely enough there is nothing mentioned about the new lunch menu which is well worth promoting.

Asked at the door if there was a Vegan choice, better than that, a separate menu. The starters we ordered was onion bhaji, served with a side salad and chickpea dhal. The veggie pakoras were lovely too. My mixed vegetable vindaloo was amazing, and so was the bhuna my wife ordered, with healthy sized portions.

Received an incomplete order and the food was cold! One of the Ceylonese Korma panfried chicken dishes was missing. We did phone the restaurant to advise, and whilst they did promise to send out the missing dish in 10-15 min. We received a completely different dish which was a chicken with cold dip starter. We gave up at that point and didn't phone the restaurant again!!! We would like to be reimbursed for the ceylonese korma missing dish if possible? For the cost of the ashoka shak food versus other takeaway options the delivery , coldness of the food and missing order was very poor.

Heading to watch a movie, we decided to stop in by this restaurant for some food. Started off with the shared combo, it was really good value with a selection of pakora, chicken wings and salad. Then had a smoky railway curry and a spinach one, both were nice. Sides of peshwari naan and pilau rice top notch. Very attentive service, along with a deal as we were cinema bound, got one main for half price!

Have passed this place often and never though to go in.

After being disappointed with several local takeways and takeaway restAurants thought would give Ashoka shak a try... found both curries brilliant and will definitely be making a visit again. Highly recommend.

Just back from Ashoka shak with my mum and we both had a fantastic delicious meal.excellent festive meal 4 courses for £16.95 superb standard and very friendly staff and helpful .loved the chicken tikka masala and piping hot and my mums korma was delicious she said she will be highly recommending to friends. Brilliant 10/10 for a great treat thank you

Placed order at approximately 1645, app said delivery would be at 1745. To be fair got a phone call to say delivery wouldn’t start till 1800 so food would arrive approximately 1830. Ordered 2 chicken tandoori, when food arrived NO CHICKEN. Phoned restaurant and whoever I spoke to was more interested in blaming someone else, told me some chicken would be delivered then hung up. 20 minutes later chicken arrived. Wasn’t impressed at all with any of the order. Also ordered a nann bread which could of been mistaken for soggy cardboard. Would not order from there again, unfortunately food was poor along with the service

Food was okay, not the best Indian I’ve ever had though. Chicken was a bit dry and the naan bread was crumbly and stale but everything else was ok.

There was no indication that rice is not included with meals. Was disappointed as had to eat our meals with just the naan we ordered - other takeaways normally call to check. The food was nice nonetheless though a 1 hour wait on a Tuesday night at 8pm seems a bit excessive.

Tasty food as always, a bit of a surprise to find that the garlic mushroom poori arrived as a chicken poori! Thankfully it wasn't for a vegetarian or they would have been on rice and salad...

Popped in for Sat night take away after being at pictures.Have been disappointed with local take aways lately and hoped that the Asoka Shak would raise the bar remembering previous visits.Food was fine but have to admit was just ok and slightly underwhelmed by meals. Just seemed to be lacking, bang average, tasty but had been looking for better particularly as a bit pricier than local take outs.Pakoras particularly were no better than supermarket ones.Less than expected unfortunately.
