Cidsin Bistro and Gin Bar in Perth & Kinross

The review applies exclusively to the restaurant. The Indian restaurant is, without exaggeration, actually the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The main courses were seasoned to perfection. The masala chips were good, and I have never had a better mango lassi. There were even pistachio pieces on top.

Update - April 2024 Friends stayed here overnight and had a very enjoyable stay. Bar area very welcoming. We tried some of their small plates and they were absolutely delicious. Restaurant and takeaway back open 7 days now. ******************************** First time eating here, as an Indian Restaurant. We took recommendations from the owner and were happy with the choices. We had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel. Our family room was lovely. It was very peaceful. The service was first class and the staff were so helpful. The veggie breakfast was one of the best I have tasted. The curries were wonderful. The gin bar had such a wide range. A couple of good real ales as well. Would recommend and we will come back.

Regarding the restaurant we were totally disappointed. As food it was okay but the portions were very small and for what we paid it was definitely not worth it.

There is Indian food and then there is food from India,cooked and presented as it should be, the Cidsin has to be rated as the best restaurant that we have ever been to serving traditional Indian food. We can not wait to return here and are currently looking at our calendar to see when we can. This place is an ABSOLUTE MUST, if you are every in Pitlochry.

What a find. The menu is a break from tradition with each dish being cooked home style with no base sauce. We opted for the Tiffin dish which was a great combo of curry, vegetables, bread, rice, tandoori and a starter. If you like Indian food this is the nearest thing to traditional cooking without going to India. We popped in off the A9 on the way to Inverness and can’t wait to pop back!

In visiting Pitlochry for a couple of nights, we were recommended the Cidsin restaurant at the Craigvrack Hotel and it didn't disappoint. Although very busy,the staff were attentive and talked us through the menu and our choice of both starter and mains were beautifully cooked and tasted very fresh If in the town again, we would definitely return

The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent. Having been to North Goa where we ate Indian food all the time, we were impressed that the food in Cidsin Bistro was as authentic as we have ever had in UK. We highly recommend a visit and we will definitely be back.

I have 2 adopted Indian daughters and regularly travel to India. This was the best Indian food I have eaten outside of India I shared a Chicken Biryiani and their special lamb curry. The lamb was simply melt in the mouth smooth. At £20 per head for curry, rice and bread it was as reasonably priced as most curry houses but the food is of a much higher quality I cannot recommend it too highly

As good an Indian meal I've had in years, you have to try this. We had the tiffin which was immense, along with good Tennants Lager you can't go wrong. Service excellent too.

We were staying in Pitlochry with friends and decided to order Cidsins as a takeaway for the Saturday night. We called in the night before to give them some advance notice as there were 12 of us ordering and the staff were really helpful about the order. The take away menu is a limited version of their restaurant menu but still gave us plenty of choice. The order was delivered exactly on time the next night and was well packaged. The food was absolutely lovely and the portion size was generous. Curries were very tasty and the spices all worked well together. Great curry night! Thank you Cidsins!

In Pitlochry for weekend with several friends. We all thoroughly enjoyed a fresh and delicious selection off the menu. Very friendly and attentive host and staff. Need to book as popular.

Visited for an anniversary meal. Atmosphere was lovely, contemporary and warm not over crowded. Our meal was delicious, fragrant and flavorful with taste rather than spicy hot. We opted for Tiffin for 2, it was delicious and large portions so even the hungriest would have plenty. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly but unobtrusive whist dinning. wished we lived more locally as we would be eating there all the time. Highly recommended

We were on a short holiday in the area and Cidsin had been recommended by our hosts. The three of us had a wonderful Saturday evening supper of chicken curry, a tandoori dish, black dhal and other sides. This is a great modern Indian restaurant on the outskirts of Pitlochry. It is well worth seeking out. The food is fantastic and not the standard British Indian menu. The starters were delicious and the lamb and chicken curries on the specials menu were fantastic. Two courses for three people, excluding drinks, was under £100.

We had one of the nicest Indian meals here. We shared the vegetarian tiffin and guidance on what to choose made that really easy. Previous emails regarding my nut allergy and the absence of nuts throughout the menu (just a couple of desserts) meant I could really enjoy the meal without worry - very rare for Indian restaurants in Yorkshire. Great, efficient service. Thank you for a really excellent and delicious experience - if we lived nearer we would be regulars!

Unfortunately the food didn't hit the mark for me. The 'home style chicken curry' was on the bland side and appeared to be a bit too oily. The only plus side being the service which was efficient.

Delicious meal of lamb curry, my wife had chicken curry which was also delicious. Authentic Indian food with well informed staff on hand to give advice on all the dishes. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Would highly recommend for Indian food which is slightly different from the usual.

Amazing food, amazing hospitality. We went there a year back and arrived an hour before the restaurant opened. The owner made us feel comfortable and got the kitchen to prepare earlier and served us amazing food even before they opened as they knew we were driving from Edinburgh to London and needed this stop. First of all, very professional and nice service, really exceptional. Unfortunately food was a huge disappointment, definitely my worst experience at Indian restaurant I ever had. We have ordered two curries, chicken and vegetable. Both were just eatable but tasteless and boring. Vegetable curry tasted like really bad ratatouille or actually, more like tomato sauce with onion. I would be embarrassed to serve it to my family at home. Chicken curry of the week was just tomato sauce with cream and a little bit of spices, but nothing special. Better curry I make at home.
