This was our first visit to Cidsin and we were very impressed with both the food and the service. Our waitress explained the menu and specific dishes and she was very pleasant throughout the evening. We chose Aalo Bonda and Chuckandar Tikki to start, neither of which we had had at any Indian Restaurant before and both were delicious. The Chicken Curry of the week and Matar Mushrooms were equally delicious. The food is a more authentic Indian experience, with most of the dishes not being found on regular Indian Restaurants. When back in Pitlochry we're will most definitely return.

We had some friends drop by and decided to order a takeaway. Firstly the quality and taste of the food was amazing ; especially the homestyle chicken curry . Secondly the packaging was of the highest quality I have yet seen and placed in a lovely woven bag with decent handles. This is our go to restaurant whilst in Pitlochry . We usually sit in but a takeaway is a great option if family or friends drop by . A definite five stars .

On a very quiet evening we ate here and had an enjoyable meal. We went for their "Tiffin" - a meal of multiple smaller plates covering a range of foods including a larger dish which you select from their main curry selection ( we picked their tasty lamb "house" curry )... TT loved the unusual bread pakora from the starters selection ( these could have done with being larger portions perhaps) - good accompanying sauces with these. Everything was well flavoured. The Black dhal was very good but could have used more lentils in TTs opinion. Very friendly service. "Flat" atmosphere though .Prices are on a par with Glasgow ... the "Tiffin" is £59.95 for the multi dish meal. The restaurant is part of the Craigvrack Hotel ...just a shame it was so quiet at the time of our visit.

I visited this restaurant due to the positive reviews but buyer beware. The staff were excellent but the food choices were limited. On arrival we were told that they made each curry in batch form and you cannot ask for changes (everyone gets the same curry). We ordered the from the tandoori selection to then be told we had no sauce option as the chef does not make individual sauces. To top this off they don’t do popadoms. Not sure why they have such a high rating.

We had a delicious Indian meal from the adjoining bistro, Cisden. Service from all staff was professional yet warm and friendly. Menu was clearly explained and after serving, staff checked in twice with us to ask if everything was to our liking. Book ahead to ensure a table is free as it was very busy when we were there. We went for dinner at 8pm for my partners birthday meal. The food was very good, service was very good. Lacking in atmosphere but I suppose that’s because it’s in a hotel. Didn’t like the fact that they started setting up for breakfast around us while we were still enjoying our meal and wine - it made us feel like we were in the way and they wanted us out. It’s a shame because the food was lovely and if I were up that way again I would eat there again but earlier before they are trying to get you out.

The hotel itself is really nice. It's up the hill (around a 10 minute steep walk from the main street), and that gives it a great view from atop. And the restaurant is really amazing. A top-level indian restaurant with a menu that wants you to order it all, but when the food starts coming the real experience starts. Every dish was the best of its kind I've ever tasted. Every sauce, every starter, the rice, the bread... All of them were incredible. Highly recommend coming here even if it's only to enjoy such a meal. And the service was really helpful in showing us what to order, what to pair it with and how to enjoy it. Really an 11/10 experience. All that paired with a great view of the sunset!

My fiancé and I split the Tiffin, and I could not believe how PHENOMENAL the food was—easily the best Indian I've had! Our starter of bread pakora was perfectly crisp and fluffy, served with a sweet, plummy sauce while the vegetarian and lamb curries had us both wide-eyed right after. The daal and naan offered a creamy, flavorful counterbalance to the powerful spices in the main courses, and we somehow managed to also partake of mango and rose lassi. Easily our favorite meal of the trip, and remarkably affordable for the quality you get! Could not recommend it enough!

We were recommended by our host Jonny at the Garden Rooms to try Cidsin for dinner on the evening we spent in Pitlochry. After looking at the menu and the overall offer we took the walk up the hill for dinner arriving just before the restaurant opened. We were warmly welcomed in the bar by the lovely Luckshay ( forgive me if i misspelled your name my friend). He served us drinks and soon took us through to the restaurant where we met the lovely Suzie who showed us to a nice table by the window with a sensational view. Suzie was on hand to explain the dishes on offer on the menu, which was very interesting and enticing. The shared starter of chicken pieces with spicy coating served with a coriander dip was a revelation - truly delicious and absolutely perfect as our starter. I chose the Lamb Currie of the Week with Tumeric cumin rice - the lamb was meltingly tender & delicious in a sauce which perfectly complimented the meat, with warm spices and deep delicious full flavour. My partner chose the Chicken Currie of the Week with steamed rice, and requested a side of split fresh chillies to adjust and increase the heat (he loves a nice hot HOT curry). It must be said that the rice was perfectly cooked and presented, very fluffy as a good rice should be - both perfect meals for us and our taste. Both our meals were very substantial and it should be said, we are very particular, we both fully appreciated the food and the wonderful service in Cidsin. Suzie and Luckshay were very attentive and kind, fulfilling our wishes beyond our expectations. We plan to return here on our next visit to Pitlochry and would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant for everyone who loves Indian food - you will appreciate the difference and uniqueness of the Cidsin cuisine and service. This is strictly a review of Cidsin Bistro, as we did not stay at this hotel. It’s a little bit of a walk from downtown, but the scenery is pretty, and there’s a sidewalk the whole way. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food was really, really good. We ordered the Tiffin, which was too much food for the two of us, but we were really glad we got to try all of the things. We really enjoyed the vegetable curry, daal, and chicken curry of the week. For me, the standout was the chukandar tikki (beetroot, potato, and paneer croquette). It is best thing I’ve eaten in the UK. Like, I’m actively sad that I probably will never get to eat it again. This place is perfect in the most unassuming way. On first glance it might appear to be nothing out of the ordinary. Until, that is, you meet the wonderful owners and the perfectly attentive, friendly and professional staff, the impeccably clean rooms and that’s even before you’ve tried the food!! As I write this I sit in the brilliantly comfortable bar (because the restaurant is full!) watching Wimbledon on the big but well situated TV so it doesn’t dominate the space, with the dolcet tones of Foy Vance drifting through the speakers, half way through the lamb “curry of the week” with a crisp pint of Kingfisher and it’s everything I hoped a traditional Indian curry to be and more. Chetan the smiley and friendly owner is chatting with his customers in a way that suggests good friends and as he approaches me calling me by my name having met only briefly when I arrived yesterday he asks me how my stay is going. Perfect I said with a beaming smile. And I really meant it. If you’re visiting Pitlochry there are plenty of places to stay but half way up West Moulin Road you’ll find a haven with the perfect mix of Scottish and Indian, that you’ll want to come back to Pitlochry for again and again. And now, the complimentary full Scottish breakfast tomorrow is what I’m most looking forward to! This morning it was delicious! Thank you Chetan and team so much for your hospitality and for the most perfect stay during a wonderful weekend in the glorious Pitlochry. Patrick

This Indian restaurant currently is the top rated restaurant in Pitlochry (according to Trip A). So I was looking for a takeaway and it didn't disappoint. The menu is simple and a little different from the usual Indian menus you get in your favourite local restaurant. So if you like the idea of ordering something you may not have tried, then this is a great option. If on the other hand you're expecting a Korma or Tikka Masala, then you're in the wrong place. I ordered the beetroot and paneer bon bons to start and then the chicken curry and tumeric rice. It came in a branded recycled bag, with nice wrapped boxes , all labeled up. I thought it was my birthday! The food was great, warm and flavoursome. I'd probably struggle to order another takeaway due to the limited choice but if you're in Pitlochry and like Indian food then book up for the restaurant or order a takeaway. They do deliver but only between 5pm and 8pm, otherwise you'll need to pop up to collect it. Overall 4 star because of the smaller menu.

This is by far the very best Indian food I have ever tasted. The chef treats the food with care and provides an authentic experience rather than what the British palate believes 'Indian' food to be.

Had dinner there and not as a hotel guest. It's a bit out of the way, but you can easily walk there if you have accommodation in town. The service explained the special features and selection on the menu to us in a very friendly manner. We opted for the tiffin, a tower of bowls with different foods in them. What can I say, it was one of the tastiest meals I've eaten.

My partner and I had terrible vomiting and diarrhea symptoms after having dinner here last night. She is still suffering from stomach pain. Such an unpleasant experience during our road trip, and our plan for at least today is ruined.

Absolutely delicious meal from start to finish. We had the Tiffin option and every dish was tasty. The fresh Nan bread was so light and buttery. The location and service were great.

The best Indian food we have ever had. So fresh and authentic. Me and my partner live in big cities and we both agree this is the best food we have had this year.

Worst food ever had When ordering we asked for rice several times waitress to interested in yell on us her concept than listening . Kurkura chicken starter were soggy chicken pops from Tesco .crispy spicy Chen wings were soggy and raw . Chicken lasbfaar was raw and the sauce was Heinz tomato soup with a few spice chucked in an absolute waste of £50 plus I recon we may be pretty ill tomorrow. Most of it is in the bin 🤮🤢

While the food was satisfactory, I encountered several issues that detracted from my dining experience. Despite informing the establishment of my dietary restrictions well in advance, communication was lacking, as I was not made aware of the limited vegan options available until my arrival. The selection was confined to two vegan starters and main courses, which was disappointing, particularly because I had anticipated enjoying a wider variety of dishes, such as their lamb curry. In comparison to other Indian restaurants I have visited, this did not stand out in terms of culinary innovation or value. The pricing structure was surprising, with negligible differences between vegetarian and meat dishes, and staple accompaniments like rice or naan were not included with main courses. This contributed to an overall impression being akin to a premium takeaway service rather than an award-winning dining venue. In summary, while the flavors were pleasant, they did not compensate for the shortcomings in variety, value, and service. I hope this feedback will be constructive and lead to improvements that enhance the dining experience for future patrons.

Lovely food , though I found the menu fairly limited service was first class with great views of surrounding countryside. Thought it was on the pricey side for small portions

The review applies exclusively to the restaurant. The Indian restaurant is, without exaggeration, actually the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The main courses were seasoned to perfection. The masala chips were good, and I have never had a better mango lassi. There were even pistachio pieces on top.

Update - April 2024 Friends stayed here overnight and had a very enjoyable stay. Bar area very welcoming. We tried some of their small plates and they were absolutely delicious. Restaurant and takeaway back open 7 days now. ******************************** First time eating here, as an Indian Restaurant. We took recommendations from the owner and were happy with the choices. All dishes were nice, different from your traditional standard Indian dishes. Staff friendly and helpful.

I ordered a take away yesterday and was really disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered vegetable biriani and there were very few vegetables and only half a container of sauce. The flavour wasn't great either. My friend had a lamb dish and was also disappointed with the flavour. The naan bread was doughy and unpleasant. Have ordered from you in the past and the quality then was so much better. Thought you should know.

This is a fairly no frills restaurant, but clean and comfortable with good service. Not licenced but no corkage either, and there's an off-sales just 30-second walk away. Best of all is the food. Great flavours, good ingredients and well cooked. One of Perthshire's very best places for Indian subcontinent fare (Bangladeshi actually).

All good, but there seems to be a problem when you order butter chicken online and it comes as chicken korma, this has happened a couple of times!
