Food is very tasty, although portion sizes are quite small. Service is okay, some very chatty, others not at all. Asked for the bill which never came, ended up going to the desk to pay.

Very good food and not expensive. The early bird deal is very good in terms of price and quality. Staff also extremely attentive. I don't understand why others complain about staff. We ate here 3 times during our 11 day stay in Leeds so that says a lot. The building itself has also been beautifully restored.

I am writing to share my recent experience at Ciao Bella in Leeds, which I found to be quite delightful. Upon arrival, my party and I were warmly greeted at the door and promptly shown to our table by the SUPER polite maître d’. As we perused the extensive menu, we found ourselves somewhat overwhelmed by the choices. However, the maître d’ graciously took the time to assist us …… even gave us a little lesson in Italian pronunciation 🥰and recommended the special lunch menu, which is exceptionally well priced at £9.95, including a soft drink. When our portions arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by their generous size and appealing presentation. I can confidently say that I will be returning in the future. The restaurant itself is situated in a beautifully restored millhouse, and it was lovely to see that many of the original features have been preserved. Additionally, the background music was delightful and at just the right volume, enhancing the overall dining experience. Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining option in Leeds. I look forward to my next visit.

Ciao Bella is an independent restaurant, not a chain, which would normally be a good thing, but in this case it means the owners don't prioritise customer service. On the Groupon voucher, you have to book 24 hours in advance, and there is no leeway, even when the restaurant is empty. We booked 24 hours in advance and we were on the last day to use our voucher. The man, who I assume owns the restaurant, scanned the QR code and immediately said it wasn't recognised, so he couldn't accept it. There was no hesitation from him or attempt to look at why his scanner wasn't working; he didn't ask anyone else and wouldn't even look at our Groupon email. He said, "I don't get paid if it doesn't scan." (No consideration about the money I'd lose buying the voucher in the first place.) His brusque, dismissive manner got my back up straightaway and he was so patronising. His only 'advice' was "to take it up with Groupon" - which I did not want to hear as this was our last day to use the voucher, so I'm sure Groupon would only say it has expired if they had to respond the following day. Anyway, we didn't leave, but instead I found the email and the asked him to try typing in the code number. He then surprised himself that it suddenly worked and then led us to a table pondering why, but no apology. After that 'welcome', I really didn't feel like staying there, but obviously I'd already paid. Sitting there, we could see he and his wife/partner were chummy with a lot of the 'customers' there. There were more people drinking than eating. The menu is a bit limited and the pizzas aren't very distinct from each other - toppings are similar across different pizzas. I don't think there's much genuine Italian influence or time spent putting the menu together. The pizzas weren't bad - thin base with good tomato and cheese, but olives, artichokes, etc. tasted like they were out of a jar. Soft drinks are pricey - £3.50 - £4 for a small glass and a bit flat. Reading other reviews since our visit, it seems like Ciao Bella are happy to put themselves on Groupon, but put obstacles in the way when people actually turn up.

Customer service unfortunately is not their strong point. Also once eaten pretty much wanted us out and did not want us to stay and drink. I would get this if fully booked but it was a mid week night with empty tables. We left as a large group and took our custom food elsewhere. Shame as food was nice.

The food here is delicious and most of the staff are just lovely but the manager is very rude. I'd booked a meal via groupon for me and my 16 year old daughter as a treat. We were a little late due to a train cancellation but the restaurant was literally empty! He initially said there was a 24 hour rule for groupon vouchers, then I said I did think I'd booked through Groupon but received no confirmation he asked my name and yes you were booked but as I was late it didn't count and i couldnt use the voucher....despite every single table being empty, not one person in there!! Eventually he agreed to let us use our voucher but what was supposed to be a mother daughter treat he left us feeling very uncomfortable and not at all welcome. It's a shame he lets the overall experience down as the other waiting staff are so lovely and as mentioned before the food is good. We go regularly and he always has a gripe and clearly doesnt like voucher users...Which begs the question why theyve signed up to Groupon?? I don't think we will be back!!!!

Food was incredible, very clean and spacious. Would definitely go back. Just have to say that we got there well before 5.30 (end time of lunch time menu), were not informed that if we wanted to order from that menu we would have to do it quickly. When we noticed it 5.24, we were told 'no you can't order' and there were only 8 people in there at the time. Felt this was unfair so pls just inform customers when they arrive. Linda (waitress) was so lovely and fantastic at her job. There was just a misunderstanding about a drink and we felt that others took over from her. We felt this to be very unfair on her and possibly a little embarrassing also. She dealt with it so professionally. I spoke with her before I left to tell her she was doing a super job. Well done Linda and keep up the great work.

The place was empty but 1 couple in the corner & we asked for a window table with the pram and was told we couldnt due to the pram would block the next table. I didnt see this as a problem seen as no on else was about but issue could of been solved by 1 chair been then no table would of been blocked. The old man was rude and very unwelcoming so after that , i mentioned the voucher we had to which the man got even more annoyed at. I think their response shows children arent welcome as well as prams! I'm glad they pointed out the voucher issue as well , I'd rang previously to check I could use to voucher with 1 adults and 2 children and the lady was friendly and said yes I could , at no point was I told I needed to book 24hours before arriving or I would of done. The guy hanging around scowled at us and reluctantly showed us to a table. Then reluctantly took our order. This guy ruined the atmosphere of the place by giving off such antsy vibes. I visited ciao Bella with my husband as we were visiting Leeds over the Easter weekend. I'd booked a table via the groupon website before reading past reviews and I felt quite apprehensive about visiting! I needn't have worried, we were greeted by a very friendly staff member. The groupon code was made a note of and we were very quickly shown to a table. The restaurant was busy 7pm on a Saturday evening) but the staff were attentive. We didn't wait very long for someone to take our order and it was delicious. We ordered the cheese garlic bread. This was made fresh on a thin and crispy base with fresh garlic butter. The whole thing practically melted in your mouth. We ordered a side of chips which were proper fried potatoes which were the nicest chips I've tasted in a long time (and I'm from Newcastle so not far from the coast and proper fish & chip cafés). My hubbie ordered a creamy chicken dish with peas and potato slices which he found very tasty. I had a tropical pizza which was 12" in diameter with fresh pineapple on a fresh, home made, thin dough. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The serving staff were very efficient, courteous and caring. Best of all they didn't once interrupt the meal by asking if we were enjoying it. Very happy to visit again and I definitely recommend.

Posting this here because the chronically online manager has so few customers, he gets to spend all his time arguing with people five decades his junior on Google reviews. He’s also flagged and hidden my review because I (and some other reviewers) called him a racist and he didn’t have any defence against that, so I hope this goes to show everyone his character. If I could give it negative five stars I would. Want to start off by saying this happened to me and my two siblings, both of whom are minors. Before we even sat down, the manager was too busy hugging and laughing with another customer to greet us so we stood there for a good minute. Sat down and the servers were giving us death stares like we were vermin. Politely asked one to take our order and she simply walked away. A member of our party was looking for parking so we wanted to order for them in advance. Manager said we couldn’t do that. So we ordered a set per person and said the remaining member will order upon arrival after his clarification. The manager said we couldn’t do that and we questioned why not- is sitting down as paying customers and ordering food now a problematic issue? And the manager decided to kick us out without giving us a reason. Note, it was me and my two siblings, both children. We asked repeatedly for him to explain why he refused to serve us and he just continued to shoo us out. Had more empty tables than customers AND staff combined so I don’t see why he would even do something so unbusinesslike. Given his response on Google amongst other reviews expressing similar views, DEFINITELY was a racist and didn’t have the balls to outright say he was kicking us out because of our race. Pro tip: if you’re not a racist no one will call you one.

Food was rather nice, but not the best Italian food ever. Unfortunately, the experience was tainted by a disagreement with the manager over the use of a voucher (won't bore everyone with the detials), but it looks like from other reviews that a running theme of this restaurant is poor customer service from the manager. All the other waiting staff were lovely and attentive, but the manager does not know how to treat customers well to get them to return. Edit after owner response: We had a voucher that had expired just a few days before visiting. We called to ask if the restaurant would still accept it, and the manager was happy with this and let us book. At no point when booking did he say that the voucher would have to be scannable. At the restaurant, he started being awkward with the voucher, seated us saying we could sort it at the table. When we did source a new one, he didn't want to accept it. Whilst we appreciate that the original voucher had expired, he was happy to let us book with it. He should not have accepted an expired voucher upon enquiry. Being rude to customers is not acceptable regardless of the dispute, and the manager would have a more successful business if he treated his customers with more respect.

The food was pretty good. Had a pizza and pasta, and it was nice, although not the best Italian food ever, with the flavours not coming out as much as they could. Unfortunately, after encountering an issue with the use of a voucher, the manager was rather rude to us. The voucher had expired by only a few days, but upon ringing to book to see if they would still accept it, we were told yes. When reaching the restaurant, the code to scan the voucher would not work (possibly because it was expired). We managed to get another voucher, but the manager would not accept it as it was a different voucher, and his policy is that voucher bookings have to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. We disagreed over the fact that my booking had been made in plenty of time, and that he knew the issues surrounding our voucher at the time of booking, but he still refused to honour the voucher. Whilst I respected his position, he was rude in making his point and had accepted the booking without warning us that if the voucher couldn't be scanned, we wouldn't be able to use it. Considering Leeds has plenty of nice restaurants, we will not return here as the customer service was not good.

In October 2023 my daughter was travelling from London to Leeds. So as her mother i booked a room to spend Sunday night with her before she went back to London ( we live in the North East). I had bought a wowcher for 4 Ciao Bella. I rang on the day we were there to book and wad told we had to give 24 hours notice. So could not use the wowcher. I checked the small print and it did NOT say i needed to give 24 hours notice. So the Wowcher sat there unused and then i had to pay another £4-5 to extend it. I paid £19 for £50 soend for 4 people but they would not let me book. So now i have spent £23 plus for this wowcher. Could not rally 4 people to use the voucher and we are here now to see the Legend that is Rick Astley. So i was told i could only have £25 worth of food. So tonight i had a mediocre - to poor meal and the Money i paid for the Wowcher was a waste of money. I could have gone and paid full price for a well cooked meal else where (because i paid full price here for over cooked scallops and beef). Don't bother people. Very mediocre food for extortionate prices. And Wowcher rip off tops it.

To be honest the manager (old guy) seemed to of been trying to get us to cancel and rebook another time for 4 but it made no odds to us as we just wanted to eat. The voucher only worked out to £12.50 a head anyhow. Our meal was good but it didn’t stand out to be one of the better Italian restaurants. The starter was an excellent garlic bread, mains were calzone and a pasta dish which was okay and the dessert was excellent. They have a poor selection of wines and only offer Merlot for a red wine which is odd for an Italian restaurant. I didn’t like that as soon as you finish one course you had the next course in front of you within five minutes, no time to digest! The bill was quite cheap even before the groupon voucher was taken off and the drinks prices are pub prices which is good. Environment was inviting and clean! Toilets very clean as well. The waiters didn’t seem to know what they were doing and missed one of us out when we tried to order. It’s a nice place but won’t be returning as it’s just far too expensive for such a low quality meal. Ended up going to McDonalds for pudding because we didn’t want to spend another ££££ on puddings. Called the waiter back over and asked if this was a Napoli to which the answer was no it was a marguerita. When I said that I had ordered a Napoli he called over the manager - an aggressive bad-tempered older guy - not sure if he was the owner or not. He refused to change my food to what I had ordered from the waiter saying that I had eaten part of it and then had the cheek to say that I had ordered a marguerita in the first place - in other words accused me of lying. He was very unpleasant, rude and arrogant. All I wanted was what I ordered but he thought I should stick with what I was given. After a few minutes of this brow-beating he then picked up both of our plates and told us to leave which I was more than happy to do. On the way he shouted not to come back again - I don't think there's any chance of that and if he carries on like that treating customers very badly it won't be much longer before he doesn't have any left. Even Oliver Twist would balk at this place!

Dreadful customer service given by elderly waiter. We were asked to leave and never return after we had told him we had been given the wrong meal. Having read the previous reviews you would think he would realise that his bad attitude is killing the restaurant.

Worst service ever took over one hour to get our meal then paid £24 45 for a cajun ribeye steak witch was about 10mm thick 8 chips 3 mushrooms one tomato. Then one of our party could not make the meal so they charge us £12.50 for a empty chair . 6 tables come in after us and git served before us we asked waitress. She replied they were late for there bookings so they served them first .would definitely not return lots of food was been left as not good quality If I was not with my granddaughter I woukd of walked out and not paid but we did not want to make a fuss as it was her first restaurant meal out with us

Had a lovely lunch here, with an attentive and funny waiter. Possibly this was because it was mostly empty at the time, but I give 5 stars when we had a 5 star experience. The food was excellent. I had a very basic dish where there was nowhere to hide behind any flash, and it was lovely.

Visit Leeds regularly through work and Ciao Bella is my go to place every time. Apart from the solid authentic menu it's the consistency in quality that's the deal breaker along with the team working tirelessly to ensure your visit is memorable, my favourite of Pollo del Sole doesn't feature on the list given to me on this page but Wow! Also the prawn cocktail not on the menu but the chef will rustle one up if requested.

This was the second time we have visited. We weren't disappointed. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who definitely made us feel welcome. The staff were very attentive and cheerful and the food served to us was so tasty. The table for our party of 5 had plenty of elbow room and had enough distance from other tables so as not to be disturbed by other diners. All in all a lovely dining experience. Well done Ciao Bella and all the staff who made it a great night.

I have Just had the unfortunate opportunity to try just ‘Ciao Bella’ a local restaurant just steps away from the Leonardo hotel in Leeds. Before I visited the restaurant I had first called ahead and asked them if they would be able to provide me a small table on my own somewhere quiet where I could read, as I was coming in alone. I was told that this would be fine, and I should come down. Upon my arrival I was taken to a small table next to another couple of ladies who were enjoying a happy and jovial meal together. When I asked if I could sit in a quieter area of the restaurant, I was told that all the other tables were booked. At this time only three tables were occupied. Two large tables had families on them (for a short while longer) and the other was occupied by the ladies, who were sat next to me. I was given the menus and asked if I wanted to drink. I enquired about the vegetables that came with the dishes on the menu, given that I was about to order from the early bird menu, and was told that no vegetables would come with the meal but that I could order them extra if I wanted to. I ordered some Leak and Potato soup and sat back waiting for it to come. It was almost impossible to read because the ladies next to me were quite loud in their conversation. I had only worn a t-shirt to the restaurant as I imagined it would be quite warm inside. This was not the case; the restaurant was actually quite chilly, and I mentioned that I was very cold to all three of the members of staff who were milling around me as I rubbed my bare arms. Each one respectively said either nothing or told me that I couldn't move to a different table near a radiator because they were all booked. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed there was a coat rack behind the reception area I was wearing a large anorak style coat and not one member of staff asked me if I would like them to hang it up for me instead it was left lying bunched up next to where I sat. Eventually I put it on around my shoulders as clearly, they did not care if I was cold or if I was sat in their restaurant wearing a coat. The soup was nothing to write home about and could have come from Tesco's. It was served with a few slices of a tiger French stick and a handful of solid hard butter portions, straight from the fridge. The main course was a chicken breast served with a simple and bland, white wine and mushroom sauce with little to no seasoning. It was served with some finely shaved, deep fried potatoes and no vegetables. It felt like a child’s dish. I felt sad that a small amount of broccoli which costs almost nothing from a supermarket for a full head, could have made this an entirely different meal. Dessert was quite a nice tiramisu which could have been elevated by even a token amount of pouring cream. I indicated to the owner that I would like to pay my bill, once was finished. He gestured that he would be right over after he after he had served the two ladies next to me. They paid that bill and left. He then returned to the reception area and began to count out money in the till, even though he knew I was waiting to pay. I eventually stood and walked over, requesting to pay my bill before walking out of the restaurant in complete disgust. For anyone expecting even a modicum of customer services, I would strongly suggest that you go elsewhere. The staff felt untrained and lacking in even the basic skills they should have had. I was left feeling unvalued, sad and unimpressed. Such a shame.

Seven of us went for a meal last night (8/11/23) for my uncle’s birthday. Straight away we were made to feel very welcome. We were shown to seats to wait until our table was ready. Drinks were served very quickly while we waited. When at our table, we had such lovely service from ALL the staff!! Ricardo was the main person who attended our table and ensured we had a lovely experience at Ciao Bella. He was so respectful and friendly with my Auntie who is 90 years old (but doesn’t look it!! ). The food was lovely. The staff were amazing and it was a really lovely experience!! Thank you!!

very unwelcoming atmosphere by the angry little bald man (possibly the manager) he wanted to sit us right next to another couple(tiny tables) so i asked if we could move closer to the window for more privacy, he rudely replied “no not for you” and sat us next to other people. The restaurant had only 3 other couples dinning, probably because this man’s bad attitude. He made us feel very awkward and unwelcome the whole time but I’m guessing from reading other reviews saying he’s discriminating and racist, then this must be the reason he was vile to us. As for the food it was bland and tasteless, or maybe that’s me being picky as I’ve visited Italy a number of times and this food is more like frozen food quality. AVOID at all costs if you don’t want your day and gut upsetting:)
