This Restaurant used to be fabulous. Now the food is less than average. Overcooked, dry lamb. Burnt bhaji so too hard to eat. Won’t go there again.

We were met by extremely friendly staff that could not do enough for us during the entire evening. The decor is opulent with Victorian parlour vibes making it feel warm and welcoming. Whist the menu is not huge it has a nice balanced selection to cover all tastes. We chose the sharing plate to start which offered delicious spiced lamb chops, succulent king prawns and juicy chicken tikka. Both main dishes were very tasty, king prawns in a coconut sauce and a very spicy chicken dish which certainly hit the spot. Thoroughly enjoyed a different Indian experience, looking forward to return and would definitely recommend. Thank you Chutney House for an enjoyable Friday evening.

“We just had a dinner, take away, from this place. It was the first time we ordered from them. We were blown away. I had to call them and compliment the guy, DJ, for the best indian taken away experience. Everything was absolutely perfect, tasty, delicious, the flavours well balanced, great packing and quick. It shows they put their heart in their cooking. 5 stars!”

Tried to order on the website but it was not working and told me my postcode is invalid, phoned up to order instead and they wouldn't give me the discount that was advertised on the website even though it was faulty.

I have eaten at Chutneys a few times and am surprised there are no reviews for this restaurant. Chutneys is a small local Indian restaurant. Its seating is enough for about 20 – 25 people so the service is personal. Currys are great and service is generally quick, and portions are large (be careful not to over order like we did 😊) One of the nice things about Chutneys is they do not have an alcohol licence which means you can bring your own – that means good wine and beer at reasonable prices (not like the terrible stuff that some restaurants serve and charge and ’arm and a leg’). Ever better is there is no corkage fees which means you can bring what you like and drink as much as you like. I would happily recommend this restaurant and encourage others to try

I have not often had the chance of a curry at Chutneys for it is some way from my home. A return visit was therefore something to look forward to and it turned out again to be very much my taste. We all enjoyed our curries and one member of our group, who is not an easy eater, demolished his dish in short order. Service was friendly and good and although a little slow was hardly noticed for we were busy with our beers which we had brought with us.

I visited Chutneys a couple of weeks ago with two friends. I've been going to this restaurant for years as it's local and you can bring your own alcohol which keeps the costs down. It's always been one of my favourite places to eat but possibly no longer. It had obviously had a change of staff when we were last in there and there were a few differences. It was a boiling hot day and unfortunately the air con wasn't on so it was sweltering in there - I'm not sure if this is a temporary blip. They'd replaced the cloth napkins with paper ones and the tablecloth on our table was dirty. This was disappointing as the place used to be immaculate. We also heard one of the staff shouting quite aggressively at someone in the kitchen which made us feel uncomfortable. Having said all that the food was still very good. So perhaps if they can sort out the air con, change the tablecloths, and stop the verbal abuse of kitchen staff it may improve again.

This unlicensed Indian restaurant is a real gem situated in a side street near New Barnet Station. This is my second visit and I was not disappointed with either the quality of the food or the service. It is also great value, especially as you can bring your own beer or wine without a "corkage" charge. The only downside is it's small size, which is not suitable for large groups of diners. I will definitely be returning to try some of their other dishes on the menu.

Have eaten in here many times over last 30 years and food has always been good. Chef exceptionally helpful and will always adapt spiciness of a dish to your taste.
