Best chips in the area, with excellent battered sausages. Sausages cooked to order and food is always piping hot and delicious. Warm friendly service with very local feel. Plus lovely old pictures of Northenden area to look at while you wait.

Absolutely lovely food, I wish I had discovered this chip shop soon. The food is amazing! The lady and gentleman are also so lovely and make you feel super welcome when you go in to order or phone up. Very clean inside also. My new favourite chip shop 😍

It's not what it was. Shame because I was excited to have found such a great chippy. The fish is still good and I like the chicken bites. But the chips haven't been anything special on any of the 3 or 4 visits over the last year

Been going here for a while but the last few times it has let itself down miserablely. The chips are dry and almost cold. The fillet in the fish is lovely but is let down with the soggy, greasy pale batter. I think they need to put the fish in the hot plate to drip for a while instead of taking it straight out of the fryer and putting straight into paper. Unfortunately we've decided to stop going here now as the last few times the food has not been up to scratch. UPDATE AFTER REPLY FROM OWNERS Like I said, the fillet of fish is amazing! If you could just get the batter right then your fish could be 10/10. As for saying no customers have complained well I'm a customer and I've complained. Also reading your other reviews there's fair few complaints there too about undercooked, soggy food.

Just been to Church Road Chippy and the family were absolutely amazing, Christine, Alicia, Mike and Michelle were absolutely wonderful both at serving and making the food, (which by the way was absolutely scrumptious). I’ve been to loads of chippy’s as it’s my favourite takeaway and this is by far the best one the batter is crunchy and the fish is tender with full of flavour and very generous portions. Thank you to the wonderful staff whom you can call friends even after 1 visit! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a filling meal.

This local family run Chipshop is by far the best for both quality and price. We have been going now several times on a weekly basis and the standards are always top draw. Service with a smile everytime as they sell their amazing food. It's never greasy and always satisfying. I can't recommend the lunchtime special enough.....only £5, which consists of Chips with either any pie,(Steak and ale addiontional 50p, but more than worth it), sausage or beautiful fish and a choice of either peas,gravy or curry/spicy curry sauce AND a drink ! Think theres a few other items aswell available as part of the deal. Myself and my colleague travel 5+ miles past many other Chipshops to attend our plaice of Worship.....keep up the great work guys. Just ordered fish and chips on the app. It said would be ready in 10 mins got there and the the lovely lady passed me my food exactly on time. Perfect fish and chips!! Fish is the best in the area and very reasonably priced!! Would highly recommend excellent quality.

After craving fish and chips for the last few weeks and despite not having had a chippy tea for almost a year, there was only one place that stood out in my memory - Church Lane chippy. It certainly didn't disappoint! Friendly service, fresh and delicious fish, chips, curry sauce and gravy. Can't recommend highly enough and will absolutely be visiting again soon!

Food is great, well priced and perfectly cooked - not too greasy at all.

This is the best chippy in the entirety of England and its not even close. The chips are cooked perfectly, not undercooked like most places and are not swimming in grease. The gravy is perfect, its not too thick / watery, not spicy and tastes amazing. Fish isn't swimming in fat, the batter is tasty and the fish itself is great. Somehow the cans taste better than you would get in a normal shop, especially the Dr pepper, bought 6 Friday and Saturday, 12 in total they taste that good. The owners are lovely people and you will never wait long for your food if you go here. Always a good laugh when i go there and the food is always tasty. Recently had this chippy at the weekend so can confidently write this without falter. 100/10 defo coming here again.

UPDATE: It's got nothing to do with waiting for chips. I would of waited an hour if need be if I knew they were cooked. Check other reviews regarding the same issue. I had to put them in the oven when I got home for 10mins. Nowhere else has issues with new potatoes and soggy uncooked chips. Gone downhill rapidly. This was the go to place for fish and chips. Not anymore. Been 3 times now since new owners and never again. Only just popped in today for a portion of chips. Had to wait for them to be cooked. Emphasis should be on cooked. Nobody likes soggy undercooked chips. 2 lads after me wanted 3 barms. They only had 1. Absolute rubbish

My grandson and myself had our lunch from here. George said he loved the gravy and chips were very nice😀 I had chips fish n peas nicest I've had anywhere!👍 Very pleasant and friendly..will definitely be returning.

Just bought fish and chips from here half an hour ago. Asked for small fish but only had regular. Fish was cooked while I waited and was delicious, however the chips were AWFUL! I don't know how long they'd sat in the "cooked" compartment but it must have been a while, they were soggy, lukewarm and pretty much inedible. I had to throw most of them away. Such a shame as the fish was lovely but the whole meal was ruined.

I think that there pies are not as nice as used to be they changed from Holland to something else

Chips far too under done and potatoey under new management, also luke warm almost cold. No crisp to them which is a shame as previous management did the chips just right. Fish is fresh but again cold.

Called in for the first time, and I wasn’t disappointed. The chips,are probably the best I have eaten for a very, long time. Was given a complementary potato scallop whilst I waited. I shall be coming back! 👍🏻

Overally expensive for fish and chips (£7.00), as well as everything else on the menu being extortionate. After begrudgingly paying these prices, the food was very average and certainly not of a standard you'd expect for the money. It's Northenden, not London!

When I visit my sister I always visit here. The customer service is exceptional and the food is amazing.

I don't really like giving a negative review but sadly this chippy isn't a good as it once was. Over twenty years ago huge queues greated you outside. Now with perhaps a changing diet this isn't the case. I lived locally for many year's and keep giving it another go. The Fish portions are far to large as they're soaked in batter which leaves them like a thick paste on your plate whilst eating. The peas could do with cooking for slightly longer as some remain hard. Chips are tasty and fresh though again far to large a portion even when I've had a small one. I'll keep giving a go at various times but hate having to throw away most of my meal.

Never seems to be open when I want it to be but it's a great chippy when it is!

Classic chippy. Fast service with a queue out the door for their chips. Nice chips and better fish. They'll also do a lightly battered fish but I prefer mine as they come. Recommended
