Chung Ku in Liverpool

We had the lovely evening with family. Everyone remarked on the standard of food with exceptional service in a lovely setting and there's a large free car park right outside the front door. I can't really see how it could be improved. Looking forward to returning. Thank You Chung Ku for a great night.

Had lovely Business Man's lunch that was freshly cooked to order. The menu was varied with a veg option if needed, the food was delicious and plentiful. Will definitely be booking for our Valentine's Date next week :-)

Waited over 35 minutes for drinks and even worse the food was over an hour delay. They brought mains before starters it was all very confusing no one seemed to know what was going on It was confirmed 3 times prior after the order was taken. Finally at the end we tipped the guy called Dell. He was really attentive trying his best to help with drinks and sauces that the original lady had forgotten to bring. He recommended a Singapore dish and was friendly. We passed over £20 note to Dell trying to show our gratitude and a Chinese lady (who did not serve us) came over and snatched it out of his hands our entire table was gobsmacked. The Chinese lady ordered him away and another lady joined her and they started arguing at our table. We paid the bill on asking if I could see the bill she firmly kept hold of the £20 and passed me the paper receipt. I just wanted to see if everything was correct as there were so many issues with food not arriving. It was an awful experience. On leaving I asked a member of staff did they get a share of the tips. NO they didn’t. So poor Dell wouldn’t have got the £20 we wanted to give him for his help on the evening. Apparently they get a meal free from the menu at the end of the night. Food was ok nothing special. It was £6.50 for a chicken @ sweetcorn soup and £7 for spring rolls main dishes were around £17/19 pound without rice. Terrible to treat people like that it was literally like a vulture sweeping in taking that money. I raised it with a supervisor who said he would look into it I also raised the fact we waited so long for the food. They obviously did not care as they had been paid. I wish Dell the very best he is a great asset to the team and could be valued somewhere else and appreciated more.

Best Dim Sum restaurant in Liverpool, totally authentic. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Food is excellent and the atmosphere. Brilliant experience, highly recommended.

A stunning location with views over the Mersey, providing absolutely stunning food. Great range of different set menus to suit most party sizes. Staff were wonderful helpful but not overbearing. Worth g The 130 miles to visit.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have encountered issues during my visits in this restaurant. Firstly, the level of service provided by your staff has consistently fallen short of expectations. Communication in English proved to be challenging and staff is not nice. During my most recent visit, I encountered a problematic situation regarding the payment process. As I needed to leave the party earlier than expected, I was unable to pay for my portion independently. I had to do bank transfer to my friend. The policy for bigger groups is inconvenient and led to an awkward situation where my friend had to cover the entire table's bill.

Absolutely rubbish. As a Chinese person this is a bloody scam. I spent £59 with my dad only ordering 6 dim sum. The food is too bad I cannot be bothered to take pictures. Very expensive , rude staff, and must not go.

Excellent service and fantastic food. We had 2 x beers, prawn crackers, seaweed, egg fried rice, noodles with bean sprouts, veg Szechuan, sizzling steak in blackbean, chinese tea and it was £73 including service charge. Everything very fresh and the steak was so soft it could be cut with a spoon. The best szcehuan I have ever had. Add to this the views of the river and it really is win win.

We came for our work Christmas meal. The food was lovely and really varied. We were in our own private room from the restaurant, which was ideal for the amount of people in our party. The restaurant itself is in a nice spot overlooking the water. The staff also found and returned my phone which I lost in the restaurant that night. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would recommend.

Sehr gutes chinesisches Restaurant, gutes Essen, toller Blick aufs Wasser. Wir waren Anfang Dezember dreimal dort und haben sehr gutes chinesisches Essen, schnellen und guten Service und angemessene Preise genossen. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich, besonders ist aber der Rundumblick auf das Wasser. Sehr schönes Lokal!

Authentic Cantonese style dim sum with amazing views at a very reasonable price and portion size. It is now my go-to local for Sunday dim sum. They also have English and Chinese menus available. I would highly recommend supporting this local business.

Went hear for a 60th Birthday, was so disappointed, ordered a dim sum platter for £29 was awful hardly any food on platter not worth the money, main meals were not to bad taste wise but very small portions especially for the price roughly £18 a meal. They charged me £9 for a kids chicken nuggets and chips was shocked. Staff were kind and friendly that's that's the only good thing I can say, I would never go back here so many better Chinese restaurants that's tastier and much better for value for money, my bill for 3 people came to £149 and I came out still feeling hungry.

I was rudely told that they don’t accept cards and the young cashier snatched the food away once I told her I didn’t have any cash. She then told me there was an ATM across the road (which charges £1.25 per cash withdrawal) all because they don’t want to pay TAX! The food was good but the character of this restaurant says it all. The young girl who served me had her hood up (really?) as she was serving a customer. This restaurant really need some lessons in professionalism, transparency and decorum.

We come here for special occasions - scenery is amazing The wedding meal was delicious - especially the crab balls

Best Chinese food we’ve EVER had. We’ve tried food all over the UK and we drive 50 miles over an hours travel to enjoy the food, atmosphere and wonderful service. We’ve been eating at the Chung Ku for over 20 years! Everything is celebrated at the restaurant, birthdays, anniversary’s, any occasion to eat delicious food! Highly recommended.

You know its a good chinese restaurant when most of the customers are chinese. Its the same with any cultural cuisine restaurant.

Went for dim sum - cannot fault the dishes. Nice roast duck and cha Siu. Nice surroundings. Quick service. Would return again.

The soup was cold to start with, so we ordered some bbq ribs and they come with honey ribs and dry! Like proper dry, when ever someone would come over if you asked them for anything they couldn’t understand and would have to get someone else to come over. They left one of the meals out and it took 15 minutes to get it, then we had to get up from the table and go the bar to order drinks a couple of times because no one come near the table after they give us the food. The salt and pepper chicken was really nice but that was it, the curry was bland and the Cantonese chops was dry even when they was covered in sauce. The food is soooo over priced! We could’ve got a nicer chippy for even less than half, it was my sisters 18th and did not leave us with a good feeling at all, we then realised they as 10% to the bill… 10%? Average party probably looking at at £3-400 bill so £30/40 tip for what? Serving your self and jus then dropping the food at the table no chance when the service was this bad and the food. We asked for the £38 tip to be taken off and got nothing but attitude “you not pay!” We said no we will pay our own tip and they was so rude, we gave them £20 however looking back they didn’t even deserve that. The restaurant it’s self is lovely and has a nice view of the Mersey, nice relaxed environment but I won’t ever be going back unless it had a massive turn around.

All the food came on time. The location is amazing. Full panoramic mersey views. Good portions of food. Drinks and food are expensive but high quality and filling. Staff are friendly and the food arrived perfectly on time.

My favourite Chinese restaurant in Liverpool. Some dishes are better than ones you could get in Hong Kong. Also very good value for money. I do try others but always come back to this one. Been a customer for close to 30 years. It's a light and airy restaurant with a lovely view of the river. Haven't been for a while,went back today. Simply the best.

Lunch time nice food great views

We went there for a suprise birthday lunch for a good friend, as we wanted them to have authentic Chinese food with a fantastic experience and unbelievable views across the River Mersey. The Chung Ku made us so welcome and treated us like VIPs the food an service was fantastic and made our friends birthday a complete experience.

Another fantastic night in the Chung Ku the staff were attentive as always. The food was fabulous and plentiful a table for 15 and no one moaned or grumbled always a pleasure to visit this restaurant.

Lunchtime business menu was great, service is great and the views over the Mersey are wonderful on a sunny day. Big, free carpark right outside. Highly recommended.

Initially I was afraid going to have dinner with a friend here, because I thought it was going to be an all Asian affair, no it wasn't. I saw people from other race/continents which made comfortable. It was my first time in an Asian restaurant, I enjoyed the tea, pork, vegetable dumplings, duck etc. It is a place to eat with your family. It has a very nice view.

Last month we celebrated partners 60th birthday at this fabulous restaurant with amazing panoramic views of both sides of river Mersey. Food, service & atmosphere were all that we could have wished for, the same as on previous visits. Very much recommended for that special occasion.

Back again to the Chung Ku. It was amazing last time so i had to return with a different group of friends. Everyone just loved the whole experience. The foods amazing, the staff are so helpful , the views are just stunning over the river to The Wirral and all with great FREE parking which makes the visit so much easier, and tremendous value for money. We have been going to Chung Ku for years, we last went for my Daughters 21st Birthday, A few years back we met Paul Mcgann there. It's my wife's and my favourite restaurant!

Inside entrance very untidy. Prawn crackers stale. Sharing platter. You had to buy it for 2 costing £2. A complete waste of money. Soups vey same.Main meals tasteless. 6 of us and a bill f £200x should have stayed home and got a take away😩😩

Great sea views and spot on food the service is top notch huge seating area however it's very busy restaurant so make sure you book in advance or expect to wait. Highly recommended

Food is mediocre at best. Very tired surroundings. Outside area and carpark Very scruffy which should have put us off but as it was our first visit the view of the river inside the restaurant sold it for us. Big mistake, everything is rushed, I was still eating my soup when the waitress came to clear the table, so rude. They hoover around your table while you're still eating spreading dust over your food, really bad practice. To finish off this wonderful experiance you're charged with a very expensive bill with a 10% service charge included without them telling you. Never again, total rip off.

Ask for the Dim Sum Menu with the pictures!! Went with a small group for some dim sum. It was fantastic, I can’t recommend it enough. The food is fantastic and so is the setting and reasonably priced. Staff are prompt and polite. Literally couldn’t ask for more.

Food served on cold plates so was not hot . Service a bit disjointed brought meal then waited for rice all the time main course getting cold.

Dim sum was spot on, main course not so good - chicken green pepper blackbean sauce was disappointing and didn't get eaten. Great choice of desert, chocolate fudge cake was the best I've had in years! Service was OK, just a bit slow.

I pride my on eating good Chinese food and I have to say the quality off food is not very good at all, crispy noodles were soggy on a chow mein dish, barbecue pork was virtually tasteless, duck wasn’t crispy and was chewy, dim sum was dull didn’t taste fresh, the service was ok, basically the chef’s were poor, as food was full off msg (food flavouring enhancer) I’ve vowed never to go there again, also very expensive for what you get.

We had a wonder 90th birthday celebration at Chung Ku. As you can imagine, this was a big affair and over 60 people attended. The service was first class and the food was amazing and fresh. We ordered a traditional Chinese banquet and everything came out in a timely manner. Their portions were huge and we ended up taking lots home. The restaurant gave us the whole of upstairs so our party was extra private. The views upstairs were stunning. We had an arranged for balloon decorations and backdrops for the day and the restaurant let the events company set up the night before. They couldn’t have done enough for us. No hesitation in recommending Chung Ku and we will be visiting again soon.

Chung Ku's location is a dichotomy. It is located in a seemingly insalubrious end of town and yet beautifully located right by the Mersey. Once you are in, you are faced with a beautiful, panoramic, celing-to-floor view of River Mersey. There is plenty of parking. The food is delicuous and authentically Cantonese Chinese. You know it is frequented by Chinese people, not only by seeing so many Chinese people there, but by the number of large round tables. That is a big giveaway. We had stir-fry morning glory with garlic; stewed oysters & pork belly; and sizzle plate Chinese-style beef. Unusually, they not only have a dim sum chef, they serve dim sum in the evening, so we couldn't resist ordering a portion of steamed prawn dumplings. Tip....ask for the Chinese menu. That is where all the best food lies. The staff are very friendly, so ask them to help you to expand your horizons and eat like the Chinese.

Literally scams money charging us 5 pound for tea and claims they forgot only after we decided to remove service fee, not hygienic as the bowl and plates were dirty and service was bad too !!! Horrible never coming here again!

Great setting on the Mersey, sunset is a real treat. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Good portion sizes. Lots of variety so everything should be covered. Shame about the lack of large beers or draught but the bottles are fine. Never want this place to go.
