excellent and distinct tapas - a whole range of flavours from the spicy to the sweet and all dishes are distinct and of high quality including more standard dishes like the meatballs. The drinks were distinctly nigerian as well - exceptionally friendly service. good portions. first taste of nigerian food and not the last

The food was average at best and not particularly flavoursome, nothing to write home about. Staff was nice and attentive. It’s ok to try it once but not good enough for a return visit.

This is a nice little restaurant. Authentic Nigerian food. We had the tasty vegan dishes. Tiana was our lovely host and she had great knowledge of Nigerian. Great service and reasonable prices.

The food was great but the service left a great deal to be desired. The staff appeared untrained and indifferent. From the outset there seemed to be little interest and each time we wanted to order we had to attract the waitress' attention, even though the restaurant was not very busy. Our waitress' lack of interest extended to missing 7 of the 12 items we ordered. We were told by her colleague that there had been some technical issue but I am doubtful this was the case. Mistakes happen, of course, but the waitress offered no apology and studiously avoided us for the rest of the evening. The service was so poor it has put us off returning, even though this is a local restaurant offering really tasty and innovative food. It is possible to put up with mediocre service when the food is so good, but not poor service. This took away a lot of the pleasure from our experience.

Fantastic place! We got a walk in table in a Saturday night just after their glowing review in the guardian, so we felt really lucky! The venue is gorgeous, love the pidgin signs everywhere. We were served by one of the owners and he was so welcoming, helpful and funny. Sharing food is so much fun and everything was new cuisine to me, such a treat. The only thing I didn't like was my tequila cocktail, which was really dull, but next time I'll get the Nigerian beer and it'll be perfect. Wish the venue every success, they deserve it.

Chukus was a restaurant I had no intentions of eating at given my first experience with them just after lockdown but I’m glad I went again. Tasty and reasonable portions. Service was a bit slow but overall experience was really good. Will definitely visit again.

Like most folk, we've done Spanish tapas but never Nigerian, so when we researched eateries in the Tottenham Hale area, this came up and intrigued us. The restaurant is small but seats about 12 tables. Decor has a very retro 60s vibe, which is nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful in choosing what to order. We ordered Chin Chin (little biscuit like snacks, which are totally moreish), and the plantain crisps. Then, for our tapas, we ordered 4 dishes between 2. This, in retrospect, was too much but totally delicious. We had caramel kuli kuli wings, chicken ata Din din, Suya meatballs, Banga Prawns and Banga Chicken, Lamb Ayamase, Honey Suya prawns and the Egusi bowl. Everything was amazingly delicious! The chicken ata din din was very spicy, as was the lamb. The kuli wings were sweet and sticky and had a peanut crumb on top, and the egusi bowl was an unusual but delicious combination of flavours. For dessert - yes, we made sure we had dessert - we had yam brownie and the Chin Chin cheesecake. Personally, the yam brownie was delicious, but my favourite was the cheesecake! To drink, my husband had a Star beer. It's a Nigerian brewed lager, which has a really refreshing taste that goes beautifully with the food. I had the ginger my swagger - gin, ginger beer, lime, and mint. Again, just perfect with my meal. The whole atmosphere in Chuku's is fun and vibrant! The tables are close together that you can if you want to chat with your fellow diners about what they're having, but if you don't fancy chatting, folk will leave you alone. Great staff, great food, and great vibe. A definite place to visit!

This was our first time at Chuku's and the reviews were so great. The staff was very welcoming and warmed up as the meal went on. We started off with a Zobo and Chapman-- both delicious. Our favorites were the egusi bowl, Banga prawns, ojojos, and cassava & ata din din. We were so full that we [regretfully] did not order dessert even though the yam brownie was calling our names! We look forward to saving that for next time. Regarding the space, it is on the smaller side so reservations are suggested during busy times. It also gets a bit warm when it is crowded, so dress accordingly.

Honestly… in my top 3 dining experiences in London. I took my parter there for a surprise birthday dinner with all our friends. The staff were fun, welcoming and friendly, the food was INSANE (everyone made plans to come back with friends, partners and family) and the drinks were delicious. The food is authentic with a fun twist. The place is small but has a lot of character, the music was great and everything is very well priced. 100% will be recommending this to everyone I see and will be back for rounds and rounds. I want to say a big thank you to the Chuku’s family for having us and making our time with you so amazing, couldn’t fault a thing. See you very soon!

I'd wanted to visit for ages as it's such a great concept and I wasn't disappointed. There's plenty for vegans on the menu with some really innovative choices. Our favourites were the moi moi and cassava fries. The desserts were really delicious too; as a table we ordered the plantain waffles and the yam brownie, both vegan and gluten free, and were delighted with both. The service was lovely in here, we were given a really nice welcome and our server was really friendly. If we had any criticism it's that when you order the full vegan menu as we did there aren't many "saucy" elements, so some condiments on the side would be nice. Otherwise recommend you order an extra portion of the honey bean stew to "wet" things up a bit! Overall we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return

We visited Chuku's on Sunday the 30th of July. A highly anticipated visit as we had heard so much about Chuku's in the press. It turned out to be a classic example of social media hype not reflecting reality. The only thing we liked about Chuku's was the food. Creative and innovative dishes - from the Jollof quinoa to the 'decontructed' egusi. The fried plantain was delicious although the cinnamon and coconut flakes made it more of a dessert than an accompaniment to our savoury dishes. The moi moi was very good too and we liked the tapas idea which allowed us to sample many different dishes without stuffing ourselves. The down-side: the staff is clueless on customer service. No system of handling table turnover when new diners arrive. The restaurant is housed in a narrow building and because there were no tables ready when we were arrived, we had to huddle and shuffle by the entrance while we waited for our tables. I could forgive that if there was at least a friendly welcome or smile or apology while we waited (unfortunately it was a rainy day so we could not wait outside). When we finally got seated we were ignored for 25 minutes with waiters walking up and down and more concerned with other issues than their waiting customers (which for us included my grandmother and young niece). I dine out for the experience as well as the cuisine and in this case it was a most unwelcome experience. I will not be returning - (many other Nigerian restaurants to patronise in London) - but hope that the staff learn some basic customer service and treat customers better.

Nice little cosy ‘tapas style’ restaurant. Very intimate, warm and friendly atmosphere. The menu is very creatively delicious indeed whilst maintaining a balance of ethnic taste. Portions are small though so you would need to order some extras on top of the minimum order. Due to space limitation, be sure to arrive on time as your table can only be reserved for a set period especially at busy periods. You may be moved to the bar which is not a bad space anyway. When asked to move, it was a tad unpleasant to be asked to bring used crockery along to the bar. After murmuring about how we shouldn’t have to, the staff did the needful. Overall, a nice experience!

One of the most exciting restaurants I have been to in years. Not easy to come up with a brand new concept in London, a city teaming with restaurants of every type of cuisine from all over the world. Add that to the fact that the food is delicious, the sharing tapas portions are enormous, the drinks list is really interesting (including 2-4-1 cocktails between 5 and 7), and the service is really friendly and knowledgeable. I felt like I was treated as a friend even though it was my first time. Absolutely loved this place, can’t wait to return.

We went as an organization to celebrate an achievement. I pre-ordered fried plantains, kwanga, maboke (fish) and pondu (cassava leaves). It is an entrée, but realisticly, mikate should be a dessert. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed our time there. It is advised to pre-order and book your table because it is constantly busy. There is a great opportunity for Congolese cuisine to make its mark on global gastronomy once they find a consistent formula that works. Pricey for my liking, but we were celebrating so I paid no mind at the time. Also, there is a service charge. Be prepared. I would have loved that the music was exclusively Rumba (not US RNB or Amapiano) to complete the atmosphere and I believe it is the manager's choice. I will be back most definitely and highly recommend it to experience Congolese food.
