We came in pretty late expecting the kitchen to close soon and yet they were friendly, welcoming and served the food fast at an incredible standard. We got a variety of small plates and were blown away at how delicious and authentic the Scottish themed small plates were. On top of that we got cocktails and the bill was very reasonable. Would highly recommend. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful to the two of us who were from out of town.

We thought the food was really nice at Christies. I believe there’s offers on Mon-Fri if you order a soft drink, when asked if we were having any offers we were advised the drinks we ordered (soda and lime- soft drink) weren’t in the offer. I think they should inform their customer of this before they order their drinks just to be transparent from the start or have this in the menu. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we would return again

My wife and I booked here for her birthday when we were travelling in our motorhome. There were some bad reviews regarding staff but we went ahead anyway as the food reviews were so good. Well….. firstly we were greeted by John, the assistant manager, who showed us to the table and explained the menu. We were a little early so had some cocktails to start the evening which were excellent. We ordered and the food arrived shortly after. Just WOW…. The tapas was amazing. We had 7 dishes between us and we were STUFFED!! The service was second to none and the staff so polite and attentive, especially John who couldn’t do enough for us. As it was my wife’s birthday he even put a candle in her chocolate brownie dessert which was a lovely gesture. We can’t recommend this restaurant enough, it was AMAZING and when we return we will definitely be back. This is a must on your list of places to eat. Well done Christies 👌🏼

This place was so lovely! We came in as a group of 8 with no reservation (Group of friends just trying to find someplace to eat after a rainy visit to the Kelpies nearby) and we were fine with splitting into two groups of 4 to eat, but they surprised us and managed to get us a table for all 8 of us within 15 minutes of us showing up. The place is small, so we definitely weren't expecting that! The food was absolutely delicious, I got Haggis Bonbons, Pulled pork mac and cheese, and the brownie for desert. It was probably the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had. Incredibly well priced as well, it came out to about £25 per person with their combo deal and nearly everyone ordering an alcoholic beverage. The staff was incredibly friendly and did a great job of making sure our whole party had a good experience. Their menu also did a wonderful job of labeling dairy free, gluten free and vegan dishes. All in all I can completely understand why this place is award winning!

What a brilliant restaurant with great staff. I absolutely love falkirk and the people there are great, this restaurant is just another reason to go there. We've been to this place multiple times before and it used to be one of our favourite. We even brought family and friends here. They have now adopted a really greedy approach. We booked for 6.30pm (table of 5). We were immediately told they need the table back by 8.15pm - 1hr45minutes for a Saturday evening meal with friends. Completely defeats the whole idea of tapas. The quality of food has certainly gone downhill. Place didn't look very clean either. Our table was roughly cleaned so parts of it were still sticky and dirty. During the meal the waiters kept coming to our table as a way to hurry us up and take away the plates. We were told about our deadline 3 times. At one point we had to stop them because he started to take away plates that still had food we wanted to eat on them. At 7.50pm we asked if we could have deserts. The person who appeared to be in charge, rather rudely, said 'no you can't, you've ran out of time'. Will never be back again and I will actively put people off going there.

The server was extremely polite and helpful and just new I'm sure he said. The salt and chilli chips were overly salty and had too much Chinese 5 spice or something similar. Haggis neeps and tatties was cold and not overly flavoursome - not sure it was freshly made. Between 3 adults and 1 child we had 4 soft drinks and 10 small plates, which were really good sized, for just over £70. Good value but a nightmare to park

Food was superb - can't fault it! Would definitely eat here again. Atmosphere was fine until some rude customers were seated behind us and they received equally sharp/unfriendly responses from the lady who was serving them. - That detracted from the enjoyment. Service 4☆ because although our service was excellent I was surprised at how sharp the lady was with the rude customers - but it looked like it was perhaps towards the end of her shift. Bar is beautifully decorated and I was surprised when going to the toilets to find another level upstairs - bigger than we originally thought. £10-£20 per person without drinks. We did the tapas deal for £20.00 Our favorite was the loaded chips, the Mac cheese and haggis bonbons.

Friendly staff were quick to get us drinks and talk us through the menu. We started by having 4 dishes between the two of us (we’d already had a substantial lunch in Glasgow earlier). Sent my mother mother and law and fiancé here today for Mother’s Day when greeted by staff the woman first words after asking for my fiancé name were you have to be out by 6.15 . No descent service at all . After only sitting for a few minutes they were approached several times by staff asking are you ready to order when only having there menus for minutes . Moving on after reporting that they had a wobbly table as the drinks were near falling a waiter was on his hands and knees with napkins trying to steady the table . When dinner arrived the food was only look warm when received but as the deserts came my mother received hers with a medium size piece of hard plastic. When staff were notified about this they took it away saying my mother wouldn’t have to pay for it . Also if anyone’s been here before they’ll know it’s a small place and with 6-7 staff 5 standing around watching over you it’s uncomfortable . Somewhere we won’t be back too

Hi, I have left this some time before posting a review. I booked a table at short notice for 27th December. Looking at negative reviews, I thought I had to place my comments. I realised that I was booking a table at short notice, so booked for afternoon after recommendations from a number of different people. I was told at time of booking that the table was booked for later. This was not an issue, as I was entertaining family from outside the area,so we were all driving, so not drinking Christies have the tapas share nailed down. I had 3 in my party. For tapas share, portions were large. Service was excellent. I understand that people who want to drink cocktail, etc may have an issue with table being booked for later. However, this is clearly explained when booking

This place has a novel concept and most of the food was basically OK (I’d avoid both the meatballs and the haggis in future, since neither were very pleasant). However, a significant error with the bill followed by a subsequent refusal to do anything whatsoever about it turned an otherwise pleasant enough evening into a horrible service experience. When it came to ordering dessert, we were specifically and explicitly told by the waiter (much to our very openly expressed, visibly obvious surprise) that a special Valentine’s Day sharing dessert we were offered was “included” in a £20 deal we were already doing (comprising three savoury tapas plates and a dessert). That being the case, we went ahead and ordered it. When the bill arrived, it seemed much higher than expected, but I didn’t get much opportunity to try to identify why because I felt extremely rushed due to the fact that the staff was in the process of stacking chairs and tables around us to close the restaurant (the only table we were able to book was late enough that we were there until the end). So, we hurriedly paid with a tip and left. I still felt sure that something was wrong so I double checked what we had ordered against the menu and found that we had indeed seemingly been overcharged by the quite significant amount of £10 (there were only two of us dining), so I emailed the restaurant. My email prompted a phone call in which I was told by someone who appeared to be the proprietor that they had “not overcharged me” and that it was in fact all perfectly OK and correct because they had a £5 per-person uplift for that particular dessert, in direct contradiction to what our waiter told us before we ordered it (we didn’t even know it existed until he brought it up because it wasn’t on the menu). When I insisted that this did not resolve the situation, the person on the phone countered that she “had not even spoken to her staff yet and there are two sides to every story”. I’m not sure how this was expected to help, given that I had already acknowledged that the error had likely happened due to the staff trying to get us out of the door quickly due to the restaurant closing just over an hour later than the time our table was reserved for. In a “he said, she said” scenario where an employee is confronted with the accusation that they made a mistake, they can simply deny that they did since there is nothing apart from customer dissatisfaction to prove otherwise. I’m not going to claim that “the customer is always right” here (they often aren’t), but there were three people present in the moment when the error was made, and two of them very clearly recall what was said. I don’t think the waiter was actively trying to mislead, but he nonetheless gave us incorrect information about the pricing of that item, which increased our total bill by about 20% – I’m not quibbling over pennies here. Even putting the original error aside, I am quite appalled by how readily the proprietor (or possibly manager?) dismissed the issue and heavily insinuated that I was either intentionally or unintentionally being dishonest about what occurred. It was also implied that I was stupid to have thought that there wouldn’t be an uplift for the dessert, which was supposedly “obvious” despite the fact that I had already stated that I only thought so because I was specifically told that it was “included” in a £20 deal we had already accounted for and expressed my surprise to the waiter when he said so. The tone of the other side of the conversation was defensive and insinuative. I won’t support a business so determined not to even attempt to resolve a valid complaint. It’s a real shame. Since the restaurant pointedly refused to resolve things, they’ll now have to deal with a chargeback for a portion of the total and the consequences of creating a terrible experience for a customer (I notice that I am far from the only reviewer who had issues with service here).

Once again a brilliant meal and service. Menu never disappoints and everything cooked to a high standard. Have been many times and looking forward to our Valentines meal.

Great restaurant with its unique way of mixing tapas and Scottish food, plenty to choose from without being overwhelmed by choice and has a range of fantastic drinks.

Overall the food was perfectly fine. Mac n cheese - lovely and creamy. Steak pie had a lovely flavour and plenty of meat. Haggis bon bons were said to be quite tough and dry on the outside but ok on the inside. Fish and chips...

Got a voucher as a gift so ended up here. Very bland/bad overall. Meat was dry/overcooked and somehow greasy at the same time. Worst gnocchi and mac n cheese we have ever had. Both had no taste and were really mushy like they’d been reheated in a microwave. Pigs in blankets used really cheap ingredients. Rubbery prawns. Burnt chorizo. Chips with gravy/cheese was just chips in a bowl of grease with plastic cheap cheddar floating in it. It was edible so not giving it one star. But if you can’t be bothered cooking just buy some wee bits and heat them up in the oven. Much nicer and much cheaper. Or drive to Stirling and go to Mint Leaf or Sidi Thai - a little cheaper, and 100x better. It was a Friday night and was pretty dead. Not surprised. In a bigger city with more options somewhere like this wouldn’t survive. Staff were nice but they did all stand and chat at the bar close to our table which was pretty annoying.

First time I've been to the this place very clean and food very good. Marked this 3 out of 5 as found the staff eaten behind the counter a bit off putting. Surely you can eat out of the food preparation area. Wouldnt stop me trying it again though.

. Sin duda lo recomiendo.

Was advised by guests at another hotel that Powfoulis Manor did excellent food so we called in on spec. We had a freshly cooked 4 course meal at £35 each, generous portions and very tasty. The restaurant was immaculately clean and staff attentive. Will return.
