Met by a miserable member of staff , who was our server and remained miserable throughout. We all ordered mains and after 2 requests, we finally got our luke warm food and hour later!!!! Whilst waiting for, we asked for the water jug to be left on the table ( I am on chemo and need to drink a lot of water) , only to be briskly told’ask your waiter’ as he took the jug away???? There was only one of the : Halibut left, which I had as it’s my favourite food. It was well cooked but barely warm and everyone said there food was lukewarm warm apart from my son’s Ceaser salad which was lovely. The lamb was 3 tiny undercooked pieces, which was literally 3 small mouthfuls. Really!!!! My husbands batter on his fish was flabby , dry and tasteless but the chips were nice. Overall, very disappointing.

I’ve eaten at Chiswell Street Sining Rooms several times and the food is always excellent - well sourced ingredients and creative flavour combinations. On this visit I started with the fresh tasting Isle of Wight Tomato salad with Stracciatella cheese, pesto and olives which was delicious. The main of Salt Marsh Lamb cutlets was beautifully cooked - succulent and full of flavour, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding was suitably indulgent and gooey. The dining room itself is beautiful and the service was exemplary. Highly recommended.

Found this great restaurant by chance. We were going to the Barbican and hadn’t booked anywhere to eat beforehand. Côte was full, but just down the road, this lovely restaurant was empty with just a few people at the bar. We chose the halibut in a prawn bisque, which was just delicious! You need to market yourselves better - food, service and surroundings all fantastic - thoroughly recommend!

Hmmmmm! Rather disappointed. They knew nothing of the London Restaurant Festival Menu that I booked. Food was good enough. Service wasn't bad it just didn't reflect the amount we paid and the type of service I expect for that. And one of my pet hates: We are constantly being asked if everything was alright! I will tell you if it's not don't keep asking me! Please.... all waiting staff stop! Not inexpensive one bit. We were especially rushed out at the end and when you are paying that amount I don't expect that! It will not be on my top ten to return to! And another thing don't ever tell my guest the coffee machine has been turned off! What's that all about? Normally a restaurant can't get enough tea or coffee down you! I have been to a lot of fine dining restaurants and I know what I'm talking about, really not the best. I was expecting good things too.....I have a nose for it!

Having been to this venue three times several years ago, I was greatly looking forward to revisiting with my family. Being a Saturday evening I expected the restaurant to be very busy, it wasn't. Subsequently the service was pretty attentive and quick. However we had problems with the food. Between four of us we had three steaks for main courses. The two Sirloins (at £45 per steak) were inedible. The meat was so tough we couldn't cut it with our supplied steak knives. The medium rare steaks came to the table already cut into slices .There was gristle in the stakes making them impossible to chew. thinking they may have been under cooked, they were both sent back for extra cooking and came back and were still awful. I suspect the meat hadn't been hung enough (if at all), the fillet was Ok but only that, and the Cod was undercooked. We were refunded for the cost of one steak only. I expected at £45 per Sirloin for the meat to be top quality, It was far from that. I will not be returning as I am very disappointed the quality has fallen so low. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Very good pre theatre set menu although it's rubbish to not offer it to a guest who arrives at 18 32. Our friend was late and was told you need to go a la carte. In the end he just had a soup and had a sandwich at the Barbican later. So the restaurant made less money than if they had offered the menu. The rabbit offal start was off the menu the night I ate here. This was a shame as it is one of the more interesting dishes in a fairly safe menu. Sadly, what was served suggested the kitchen were having an off-night. Steak Tartare was bland, with little sign of onions, capers of Worcestershire sauce in the dish and the beef not very finely minced. I can forgive this as a decision of the house as to style, but to create an unforgettable dish was a disappointment. Worse was to follow. When was the last time you were served traditional fish and chips with the fish sitting firmly astride a very wet portion of 'mushy' peas? I leave readers to imagie what it did to the batter on the bottom of the fish? If you are going to serve chips in a metal container on a cold plate then you need to ensure they won't be cold before they are all eaten. The tart, my choice for pudding was nothing to write home about, but no doubt safe and easy for the kitchen to send to the table. From the owners point of view, post meal coffee is an easy way to make money as the price always allows for a profit on this course. To allow service to be so slow the table doesn't order coffee at the end of a meal is fine for the customer, but if I managed this establishment I might want a word with the staff about the issue around making a profit. And so to the washrooms, up some stairs, down a corridor, round a couple of corners and past a couple of meeting rooms and there you are. Not quite a labyrinthine expedition, but longer than you might expect. Finally, the best part of the meal was the table starter, as the bread is called. The presentation was good, the bread warm and the butter served in a manner that didn't add to the calories. Would that the whole experience had matched the start. Then, I would be back, now not so sure.

We were drawn in by the BYOB Monday offer, and indeed this is great value, as there is not even a nominal corkage charge. My rabbit offal starter was brilliant and the main course lamb almost as good. Service was keen, but a bit stretched in terms of the number of waitrons for the number dining - perhaps the BYOB offer brought in more people than they thought, although the waiter told me by no means everybody was using that offer. Similarly the kitchen was clearly working on a slightly overstretched "get it right rather than get it soon" basis ... which was no problem for us, given the quality of the results, and with two BYOB bottles, a fine Prosecco and a 1990 red Chateau de Beaucastel, to savour. I did buy a couple of Espresso Martinis made with white chocolate, which were also brilliant. The decor is fairly bland corporate hotel style, but pleasant enough. May upgrade to 5* overall on a subsequent visit - which there will definitely be - particularly if the food quality is sustained. The value would be good to very good for the area, even without BYOB but with that offer, no question, outstanding.

Altamente recomendado.

I had hake over savory butter beans and mashed potatoes gratinee and the most scrumptuous cold tomato soup. The cafe americano here is exceptional.

Choose this place for pre-theatre meal ahead of a performance at the Barbican. Menu was very good value and there was a drink thrown in the the price. The food was good - the home cured salmon was a bit on the fatty side and could had done with a bit of lemon juice (or some such) but that is a minor point. The atmosphere at that time (6pm) a bit lacking but that is don’t unusual for pre-theatre dining.

No one was at the desk to meet us, not told what was off the menu that evening, staff were more concerned with a party they were hosting in the back.

Got married in Islington and had our reception here, and had the best time. Everyone was amazing throughout the whole process and the day / evening itself. Food and drinks were amazing. Perfect day!

Waited 30 mins for 1 taco from DF tacos. Maybe should have said 2 large takeaway orders before me when I placed mine. Otherwise, whole environment is great.

There seems to be a new place here now called the Victoria Food Hub? Very tasty food from Borneo and Malaysia. The service was so nice and accommodating. It's a shame that Google maps hasn't picked it up yet. We ordered a chicken wrap shawarma and fries. You could see that they were sliced potatoes. Absolutely recommended! We'll be back because it's a very good value for money and DELICIOUS😋
