Great service except we ordered kebab with chips and they sent them in a pitta.

second time me and my partner have used this place and has been delicious both times...

Ordered food over the phone and came in to collect. Lady running the till tries to overcharge me for the food, which did not work. I won't be coming back here again and will take my business elsewhere to those that operate more honestly. Food is alright but one to avoid if you don't want to get ripped off! Worse thing is they are doing this intentionally and not even a genuine mistake. Updated 2024. The owners use a calculator now to work out the price, which is good to see as they have taken note of my initial review.

the food eventually got here in the end and was so cold it got thrown in the bin...and this was after I had phoned a few times to be told to contact just eat because it had left the chip shop ages ...and I emailed! to say it had not arrived and about 20 minutes after the email it arrived and was so cold it was thrown into the bin

All 3 kebabs were cold, like they were taken out of the fridge. Chip & Whale used to be good, I don’t know what’s happened to them, are they under new management. The driver didn’t say anything even when I said hello to him and thank you, no manners whatsoever! Never ordering from here again!

The last two experienced with this chip shop are as follows. First occasion, the amount of oil that was seeming through was disgusting. The naan bread was drenched oil. Seconds occasion, we ordered by mistake we wanted to order from a reputable shop (cap-chippy). All three kebabs - stone cold we spent over £30 on a Friday takeaway which was fridge temperature Not to forget the disgusting delivery driver who looked 9 years old and was rude/ abrupt to the ladies of the house. Stay away from this shop. Ps. They tried to offer us £9 as a gesture of good will which was again disgraceful.

The naans are so greasy, so oily. Absolutely shocking, they were dribbling. I can’t feed that to my mum. They went straight in the bin and we are ordering food again from somewhere else.

Used to love this place but food is so nasty now seems they don't change there oil as that's all u can taste it's left a bad taste in my mouth and it's very dirty staff are rude and forget most of ur order so u have to go bk there and row with them Absolute dirty place and I won't be taking my family there again

Chips was hard sausage was brown in side and hard fish was under cooked and smelt never hate and never again

Second time I`ve ordered from this chippy and its good value for money. Arrived on time and piping hot . Very large portions , fish & chips were excellent , mixed kebab on nan massive portion. Thanks for lovely meal

Half of my order was missing. I called the shop and spoke with 3 different staff members. Non of them wanted to speak with me and constantly passed the phone to one another. Non of the meals came with chips even though the menu clearly states the meals come with chips. The staff were not willing to listen and refused to help.

I got notification that my food was ready, however after 20mins no delivery person was available so I had to pick up my own order. And I was still charged for delivery . I would like this refunded. Food was great and the staff where good got it all sorted for me quickly.

Chips were undercooked and the fish was stale, had to throw them away.

Nothing like fish and chips with two, quite large flies fried up along side. Come here if you ever need extra protein.

My dad tried the fish & really enjoyed it. The batter was soft & bubbly it wasn't greasy it was beautiful. Will definitely order it again. The food is hot when it arrives.

Ordered a large masala fish n chips but instead they gave me a regular portion and lack of spice in masala fish yet he kindly gave me 2 cans of soda for free therefore never visit Soho Road’s delicacies.

unfortunately the chips were not chips just bits of scrapings from the bottom of the fryer, chips should be chips not the last scrapings of the fryer, usually chips are fresh and proper chips but lately last few orders i have been paying for scrapings from the bottom of a fryer not good

If I could give no stars I would. I am highly disappointed by the quality of the food that this establishment offers. As a long time customer (way before this manager) the quality and standards of the food has dropped immensely. I’ve never even left a Google review but it needed to be done in this circumstance. I received stale food, that was either chewy, hard or not edible at all, and to add insult to injury they want to charge ridiculous prices for horrible food. Absolute joke, would never get my custom again.

food was very tasty yesterday so ordered again but today's driver gave my food to someone else and I ended up with food was at work so was unable to report it

Slightly overpriced bit overall not bad and if your not vigilant they will try and short change you and play dumb like they didn't realise, this has happened more than once.

Huge portions of big fresh chips. one small portion is enough for two. The chicken pieces are also very generous. Nice breadcrumbed bean burger. I recommend Chip n Whale if you're ever feeling peckish when you're on Soho Road.
