China Red Restaurant & Karaoke Venue @ Coventry in Coventry

The best night in town by far!!! We've been having after-work karaoke nights @ China Red for a few years now and we cannot fault them. Food is delicious and the staff always goes above and beyond to make sure you are having a great time. If you've never tried before, don't hesitate, loads of fun ahead.

8 of us had dinner here last night, no complaints! Food was great, service was fab! Fui (Sorry if spelt incorrectly!) he was an amazing server, very funny, warm and welcoming , and offered lots of great advice on the menu. Had never been here before but will definitely be returning, we all had a great time.

We held my daughter's birthday party, hiring the main party room. The experience from the first point of contact, to after the event, was outstanding. The owner, Jack, was meticulous in ensuring that everything was in hand, and he clearly wanted my daughter to have a great time. Jack and his team were fantastic on the night. Professional, friendly and everything was just perfect. The food was delicious, Jack and his team even decorated the room, which was a lovely surprise. Our guests said they had so much fun and the karaoke was a huge hit! Our daughter was over the moon and the little touch with how you present the birthday cake was so sweet. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of holding an event or even dining in the restaurant, to do so. The level of service is without a doubt, the best I have encountered. Thanks so much Jack and the team, we shall be back!

Whoever said this restaurant is 4 stars is a liar. Firstly, the duck in peking sauce was weirdly tasting in lukewarm sauce. Also, my rice was forgotten. It says service charged is added when there are more than 8 people however, it was just 2 of us and we were charged for it. Needless to say I will never be returning to this place. The food for £17 is 100% not worth it. Go somewhere else.

I came with my mum and aunty in the afternoon and the food was very nice and authentic. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely come again. It is the best Chinese food I have had in the UK for a very long time.

Last week my friends and I went to this restaurant for dinner and everyone that night showed symptoms of food poisoning. Because we didn't eat anything after that, so we're pretty sure it was the restaurant's problem. Pls do check the sanitary condition😡

We have been China Red 3 times over the last 5months, and it's now our go to eatery in the town centre. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food tastes fresh and delightful and we've sampled a fare few of the dishes. As a family of three a meal with drinks @ £20 a head for a array of different styled courses is a winner.

The service was incredible and the food was delicious. Now, you can surely find posher places but for the price and flavor, it's crazy. I highly recommend this site. In addition, they have karaoke rooms that can be rented with cocktail service. We have eaten the “chicken balls” with other things. How delicious everything is! Thank you!

All the food was so fresh and delicious. I had sweet and sour king prawns which had a lovely very light crunchy batter, the king prawns were so juicy, hot and absolutely delicious.

When we were eating, there was a very aggressive waiter. I don’t know if it’s just an exception or it’s the same, but it’s really disgusting. I don’t know what kind of pride you feel because you don’t belong to the mainland. Your attitude of kneeling down when you see a white person is just funny. See your comment section. If you see a negative comment from someone below, it’s fake. It’s really worthless😀

OK, my home is in San Francisco, The largest Chinese community in the US. This place is really good based on what we ordered!!!! OK, the pork dumplings were very tasty, ask for chili oil, a bit on the smaller size....price is also on the smaller size, so order another starter. The hot and sour soup...Very good although a note to the cook, add a bit of ground white pepper, it will bring it over the top. We split an order of the curry chicken, yummy. Very tasty, chicken quite tender, a nice bit of heat from the curry. I like to cook a variety of cuisines including chinese and friends family own a couple of hunan restaurants in San Francisco. I am well versed in a variety of cuisines. I highly recommend China Red Restaurant for quality chinese food. If you are looking for fast chow mein, go someplace else. My next time in Coventry I will be back!

At first, we saw the prices and thought this place would be mediocre. However, I have never been so wrong in my life. First time trying Chinese food and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. The bbq ribs melted in my mouth while the chow chicken was tingling to my tastebuds. The service was perfect and was offered complimentary crisps with dip. Furthermore, Tommy topped up our drinks and wasn’t consistently bothering me like in other restaurants. Only working here for 1 month is beyond impressive, I thought he was the owner! The atmosphere was wonderful, customers were respectful and music wasn’t too loud / distracting. I would highly recommend this establishment, and do not underestimate the quality of this place.

So I booked a karaoke room for my 22nd birthday on the 23rd March 2024 and it was the best experience ever! We first got upgraded to a bigger room without any extra charge and was appointed with our bartender for the night who was named Fai. He was so sweet, friendly and really made all of me and my friends feel comfortable. He honestly had the best energy and really helped us enjoy the night. The room we got was so lovely! There was a lot of room for all of us, air conditioning, a ton of mics, a stage with a mic stand, 2 TV's, and there was a ton of classic karaoke songs. The toilet, smoking area, and bar was close by so it felt very safe for us, especially as women. One of our friends fell over near the end of the night but Fai the bartender was so helpful and caring. The only thing I wish was that they had more newer songs but that still wouldn't even be a complaint as they had a range of diverse music! They even let us stay longer than what we were told! Overall, we really enjoyed the night. Definitely going to come back again! All of my friends said they never thought they'd enjoy karaoke but they had the best night! Thank you China Red and especially Fai the bartender for the amazing customer service!

Amazing service, lovely vibe, good location. Went here for my friends birthday yesterday, we booked one of their karaoke rooms. The rooms are beautiful, clean, have good music/sound quality and microphones. But what made it stand out was the service. The bartender (I think his name was faye) was amazing. He was very friendly, made our drinks very quickly, very bubbly, was making us laugh and overall just a lovely person. He Tended to everything we needed and was very helpful. Would 100% recommend!

We were having a good time, although the selection of songs wasn't that good. Until we kicked out by force even tho we didn't do anything. No communication or anything. The staff is so disrespectful. Do not recommend it. They say that bad comments are made by the same people, but it is not true. They are just lying.

Very few songs to do at Karaoke. Outdated system. Cannot control the volume of microphones. The staff watch you through cameras whilst you are in the karaoke rooms. Very creepy place. Would not recommend.

We walked in, and we sat down the prawn crackers come and they didn’t do original crackers. They only done lobster crackers the ribs come, they was cold We had to ask several times for hoist and source. My partner and I was very frustrated as it was a birthday meal. My boyfriend tried to get the waitress for a glass of Coke and he was ignoring him. It was getting to a point where he was going to get up and serve himself I had to hold him back didn’t I anyways the black bean come, and it was disgusting. We never ate it. We left everything on the plate we asked for the bill and we left. Very disappointing. I felt like they was talking about us in their language cause we was asking for the waitress for another drink anyways that is my review. They also didn’t have chicken balls I don’t know what sort of Chinese it is but it’s not the one I’m used to like I said that my review

Would recommend this place for anyone looking to indulge in traditional Chinese cuisine. The food is just amazing, the smell from other customers food whilst waiting for my own was making my mouth water. Staff were also very kind and attentive. Will definetly come to this establishment again.

The whole staff of the restaurant did not give due respect to the guests, both during and after the meal. I even couldn't believe that the staff in the service industry could treat the guests with such an attitude, which made me feel very sorry and disappointed. However, when I saw the boss 'behavior, I began to understand why the staff would behave like this. The boss treats the guests extremely rude and disrespectful, and even people can't believe that there can be adults without education here. After we questioned the food, it is not difficult for us to find that the food cooked in such a bad and dirty kitchen environment will inevitably lead to the guests' dissatisfaction and aversion to the food, and even make us feel disgusted. Even in the course of eating, we found something that should not appear in the food, so that we felt even more afraid. I will think that eating in this restaurant is my regret and the most regret in my life

I visited this store and had a terrible experience recently with the food and the service. The staff did not treat me with the respect I deserved. As I was reading through the reviews, I was shocked to see that the staff directly exposed the names of customers who they believed had a bad experience. Isn't this a violation of privacy? What I want to say is that it's time for the store to address its own issues instead of replying to the innocent victim in reviews and accusing those who leave negative feedback

Had my daughters 30th birthday here last night, food was really good and plentiful but most of all the staff are excellent and have the best customer service I’ve seen in a very long time, they engaged with us and had a laugh one of them even pretended to push my daughters face in her cake which was hilarious.. I will most certainly return here and would definitely recommend to others.. overall pleasant food and pleasant staff x

I recently visited China Red restaurant and had a mixed experience that I feel compelled to share. On the positive side, the taste of the food was delicious. However, my enthusiasm was dampened by the service I received, particularly from what seemed to be the manager or owner of the establishment. As a South Asian individual, I noticed a stark difference in treatment based on my ethnicity. When attempting to place an order, the manager's demeanor was notably unfriendly, slamming the paper and pen on the table as if inconvenienced. My disappointment escalated when we expressed interest in items from the Chinese menu not included in the English menu. The manager disapproved, shaking his head as if such requests were forbidden. What struck me the most was the abrupt change in attitude when a group of caucasian customer entered. Suddenly, the manager became jovial, cracking jokes and displaying a warmth that was absent moments before. To fellow South Asians and people of colour reading this review, I urge you to consider spending your money elsewhere, where respect is extended to all patrons. My suspicions were confirmed when I observed a employee of color, receiving markedly different treatment compared to counterparts who where the same ethnic background as the manager/owner. In conclusion, while China Red has decided food , the unequal treatment based on ethnicity marred my overall dining experience. It is my hope that the management addresses these disparities to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all customers.

The owner was really kind, even while I booked the room last minute for my birthday, he was really helpful and made sure the room was ready for the evening We had the birthday at the iconic room and it was great. The staff who attended to us was patient and kind. Great place

I have ordered once for collection and once for delivery. I love the food, I only rate it lower because they don’t think about giving you chop sticks and I don’t enjoy as much eating Chinese food with a fork. I never say I want them to add chop sticks because I never think this should even be mentioned- it is common sense.

Food was great and fresh but felt we were rushed into placing an order. Would have appreciated more time as we came with kids and you know what it’s like with kids changing their minds 😂

Visited for the 1st time today after trying most if the other Chinese restaurants in the city. Have to say it was the best Singapore Chow Mein I've had in a very long time. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Will be back again for sure!

We hired a karaoke room for my sons 18th birthday. I cannot recommend China Red enough. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.

We went on Saturday night to this restaurant. Initially we walked past and I went to look at the menu. A member of staff spotted me, asked me what I was looking for and offered me a menu. We came back ten minutes later and they showed us to our seats. We had the meal for four to share between the five of us. After the lobster crackers followed by two starters, we were so full that we couldn't finish the second starter. Then the main course came out and that was so tasty and varied that we still ate quite a bit and still had the makings of a takeaway to take home with us and eat the next day. One of the waiters was making jokes with us and making us laugh. If you speak Chinese, they will chat with you in Chinese and the menu is also available in Chinese. The food and the service and the atmosphere were awesome and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The web description said that it was a karaoke restaurant, which initially put us off, but in practise it was peaceful and calm with quiet Western modern recent pop classics playing quietly in the background. We had multiple drinks and basically a feast and it came to just under £21 per person. Well worth it for a special day out to celebrate the last day of freedom in the summer holidays.

I booked a karaoke room for my birthday. The Hello Kitty one is so cute and so perfect. The staff were absolutely fantastic and made sure I had a special evening. The song selections, atmosphere, microphones and lighting were perfect. Thank you so much!!!

Such a beautiful place! Got a chicken chow mein, egg fried rice and two pineapple juices and it’s the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had! Service was magnificent and the staff got our meals ready within minutes (guessing 5-10 minutes). The interior design is amazing and this is by far the best restaurant I’ve been to in Coventry.

I had my 18th birthday here and it was the best experience and they really made it memorable. From the venue to the food it was incredible. All the staff were so nice and provided amazing service. I would definitely recommend coming here even just to eat out.

Fabulous evening with family and friends. Great varied menu including foods we had never heard off before. Excellent quality fresh food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service. Will definitely be back to try out the karaoke rooms!

Went in for a meal as a group of six adults. We'd booked a table (paying a deposit of £5 per person). Booking isn't always essential. Service was quite quick, and the server was friendly and helpful. The food was lovely, and the portions were good value for money. The starters were the size of some main dishes in other places. There is a lot of choice on the menu - we were each given a menu with boxes to tick next to each item that we wanted. We asked to split the bill and pay separately but they weren't able to do that. We also had to remind them to take off the deposit from the bill, which they did as soon as they realised it hadn't been done. We would have liked to do karaoke as well but that would have been a separate booking and was too expensive at £100 for a booth. Accessibility - restaurant is ground floor and spacious. There are some tables up a small step but the level space can accommodate wheelchairs.

The waiters are amazing and accommodated to any dietary requirements any of our large group! Went two days on the trot and they made our group of 9/10 people very welcome and made fun and jokes with the entire group! Definitely recommend the guys and the food is 1000/10 😍

Genuinely the best karaoke bar I've been to. Had an amazing experience celebrating a birthday in one of the rooms for hire. Food was very tasty and the service was phenomenal. Staff was professional, funny and very friendly. Could not recommend this place enough! When booking for whatever event make sure you ask for the food to be included as it was definitely worth it.

Authentic Chinese cuisine and excellent food😊 Staff is friendly and polite as well. The karaoke bar also has a good vibe with an excellent selection of songs. Will definitely come again👍🏻

There’s a proper selection of Sichuan and Cantonese cuisines, we ordered lobster with e fu noodles this time and everything is spot on. Love the fact that they have jasmine tea, it’s always not available in other chinese restaurants. Extra points for including Lana Del Rey’s song in the playlist :)

Visited with my team from work including our Chinese colleague who ordered from the Chinese menu rather than the English and have to say it was outstanding. Had a great time, food was spot on absolutely delicious and the staff were brilliant too. Highly recommend a visit and to ask for help to order items from the proper Chinese menu rather than the English version. But tbh, it's also just as good!

I cannot forget the taste of the pork ribs. I am not sure what they put in the red sauce, but it was amazing. We ordered a mix starter for 2 person. Every single thing in that was very tasty, especially the ribs. For the mains we ordered kung po beef and beef in black pepper sauce, along with rice. Every single item we tried was very delicious. The beef was very tender, sauces and the vegetables made a perfect blend. I definitely recommend this place.

Quiet tucked away spot near Dhillons brewery. Everything is a la carte heads up. Dumplings were big and full which was appreciated. The chicken was slow cooked not very crispy but good servings of vegetables. Beer was good strong taste to it complemented the meal well. Portion of side rice was large. Was pricey as most a la carte meals tend to add up but the food was good enough. Nothing to blow you away but a pleasant experience. 4/5

Not value for money at all .small egg fried rice £3.60 (mushy) small curry sauce £3 , asked for prawn crackers £3 ended up with lobster crackers which I was happy to try but they tasted like burnt poppadoms.

Stunning food and very friendly staff. After being told many over places were too full when too be honest they didn't even look half full. Welcomed here straight away and wasn't disappointed, the food was delicious. Well worth a visit.
