China Moon in Newark and Sherwood

Amazing food, quite often we will order based on quickest delivery but the fact that I have to collect here and still order regular is a testiment as to how good it is!

Took a short walking break for Easter, staying at Redbrick Lodges. China Moon was recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. In fact we were DELIGHTED! A friendly welcome, super fast service and great food. Portion sizes are good too. Overall, great food, service and value for money! Highly recommended 👌 Note - closed Mon & Tue Cash payment

Couldn’t recommend this Chinese take away enough! We were a hen party of 30 looking for a take away that would deliver and found it quite difficult to find one in the local area, however China Moon actually offered to deliver due to the size. Their service and communication leading up to the event was fab, checking in with us etc. On the day of the event we had some issues with timings due to entertainment and they were so accommodating to us and what we needed to change. The food was amazing, definitely recommend the ribs! Everything was piping hot when it came which we were amazed as considering there was around £450 worth of Chinese food 😅. Again thanks so much! Wish we lived closer to have another 😍

We had this Chinese food as a take away, it was lovely couldn't fault the food. I ordered it before hand and when I went to pick it up it was their ready. Couldn't fault it.

This is a must visit takeaway it is without doubt, the best Chinese/Cantonese Takeaway within 20 miles of Ollerton with no exception, Salt-N-Pepa king prawns are to die for king. Prawn curry is unbeatable, and the vermicelli noodles are the best, I’ve ever heard anywhere in the world , and for that matter, so is everything else on the menu please take my word for it. This was THE best takeaway we’ve ever had!! EVER!! We’re staying at Sherwood Pines and it was just a 4 minute drive away to collect. The food was very fresh and really tasty. I think the chicken may have been grilled instead of fried as it was full of flavour, not in the slightest bit dry and cooked to absolute perfection! We ordered £30 worth of food for 2 of us and there was enough for 4 meals as the portions are generous. (And we’re big eaters!) There’s free parking on the front of the shop when you go to collect. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Thank you so much for the tasty meal whilst we were on holiday. I can hands down say any negative reviews are clearly local contenders so please ignore them. If you’re staying at Sherwood Pines/Centre Parcs and fancy a treat, I promise you will not be disappointed!!

Every year a large family group use the China Moon when visiting nearby Centre Parcs. We pre ordered for 24 adults and various kids, which is a large order. The food was ready on time and was lovely. Perfect for what we needed. Highly recommended if at Centre Parcs or local to the area.

Ordered into centre parcs we are local anyway and the in house takeaways where fully booked. Average takeaway, expensive and don’t even add a few prawn crackers in like all others they ask you to pay! I wanted the satay chicken, arrived, spicy watery sauce, nothing at all like satay, everyone tried it no one could taste peanuts at all, even our friends in the next villa who didn’t know what I’d ordered I asked what they thought it was and they didn’t have a clue. It had peppers and onion in…. And the sauce was thin and peppery. Wouldn’t use again based on how they handled it, if that’s there version of satay chicken then they need to google satay chicken recipes.

Best around but expensive. We order from here about once a month - we’ve tried all the Chinese takeaways in the local area and this one is by far the best quality - you get a decent quantity of meat rather than mainly vegetables and sauce as you do at so many others however the prices are high. I was disappointed on my last few orders that along with other price rises which are understandable given the overall quality of the food they’ve started charging £2.20 for prawn crackers which I think is insane - they cost pennies and when you’re already spending £50 on a takeaway you expect those added extras to be thrown in not profiteered on.

Since we have lived in Ollerton we was fed up of getting average Chinese dishes that are mostly full of vegetables. So we decided to try China Moon out and I’m so glad we did it was the best Chinese I’ve had in YEARS!!! We had the set meal for 4 swapped a few thinks for what we prefer and added the satay chicken which was epic lovely and tender. We couldn’t fault the meal at all delivery was here for when they said it would be and still piping hot. All the dishes was filled will meat and not veg and had plenty of sauce in each. Yes the Chinese is slight more expensive that others around but I would pay for quality accurate dishes every time. The only little problem was please put 8 spare ribs in the box going forward as a family of 4 can have 2 each with out fights. Thank you for a wonderful takeaway see you soon

When we had a Hen party at the weekend I ordered a takeaway delivery from China Moon, I wasn’t expecting the food to be so amazing as we ordered around 28 meals with sides, and had it delivered to a house that was very hard to find, so I wasn’t expecting it to be very warm once we got it, but was pleasantly surprised, it was pipping hot and very good food and all 22 ladies said how tasty the food was. Great job guys would definitely recommend.

We first tried this as a takeaway when we stayed at centre parcs. However, it was so good we went back again when we got home; as we only live a short distance away. I'm allergic to gluten and 90% of the menu they could do gluten free for me (other than obvious dishes such as noodles etc). Everything tasted amazing and we will definitely be going out of our way to go back! Thank you to the super helpful and friendly staff as I sometimes find it difficult to find a takeaway, but they made me feel really comfortable.

Can’t remember ever having a bad meal from here, good selection , food is great , not the cheapest around, you can soon rack a bill up with these, however I guess you get what you pay for.. only accept cash no card ,

Me & my husband enjoy our meals very much.very tasty infact very delicious,we really enjoy our meals from china moon, We would recommend you trying there food if you haven't all ready. its 5 star quality food. We order ever week for our takeaway & have always enjoyed it. At first when covid started last yr,they quickly became very very busy & overwhelmed with orders because people loved there food so much, but some wasn't happy waiting a bit longer for delivery. but its calmed down know and its all much better, we are never waiting very long for our order. Staff is very polite & work very hard. Keeping everything healthy & safe for there customers,& now I've wrote this its made me hungry.

They got busy cos of lockdown and forgot their regular customers, minimized the delivery area to get more in, I just hope the extra people that don’t normally order from you keep on after lockdown , you’ve lost my weekly custom

We picked up a Chinese from here for my birthday on reading reviews saying it was fab and wish we hadn't bothered.The food was tasteless the egg fried rice was clarty and a brown sludgy colour all in all a big disappointment, save your money

I just wanted to comment that we have just had another super delicious meal from our favourite Chinese takeaway. Our family, visiting from Sheffield, requested the treat (our grandchildren love the spare ribs!!). As always a delight to deal with them…..starting with the friendly lady on the phone taking the order to the really helpful driver delivering the food ( we’re still being cautious about visitors but he went out his way to deliver hot food, reassuringly safely). Thank you, China Moon. Long may it continue.

The best takeaway around the food is excellent i look forward to the weekends placing a order and they are very friendly people I would be recommend people to try it

First time in trying this takeaway, following some positive reviews, I can only say that I was highly disappointed!!We ordered salt & pepper chips that were just plain soggy chips (no salt or pepper), egg fried rice that was over cooked and dry, chicken chow mein that was bland and flavourless and sweet & sour chicken balls, the batter on the balls were too thick and stodgy, causing the chicken to have a slimy texture. The only edible dish we ordered was the Szechwan beef but still not amazing. Maybe the takeaway was having an off day, couldn’t cope with demands or other people’s tastebuds are dysfunctional. Fair to say, a waste of money, far too expensive and we won’t be ordering again. The pleasant helpful girl on the phone was the only positive from this experience!!

Order from here regularly, girl on phone is polite and helpful, food is always hot on arrival and driver is well prepared for contactless delivery. Portion sizes are great, I have a BIG appetite and I always manage to leave some, beef is beautiful, nice and tender, big slices, you definitely get your money’s worth here. I like things spicy too and they’re always happy to add extra chilli in. Recommend to everyone I know far and wide. I’ve never had a bad meal from here.

The only reason they get one star is because they made a decent fist of the szechuan chicken. What can I say about the rest... Salt and pepper tofu was inedible and a small portion for £5.50(probably about £1.50 worth of ingredients) went straight in the bin. I can only assume that the term Chinese style means boiled as there was no flavour whatsoever, also few bits of pork with beansprouts(about £1.50 again) Ribs OK but dry and rice overcooked. Never wrote a review on here before but felt compelled to do so as it was just shocking. Waste of 40 quid.

We have tried every Chinese in the area and all over Britain and China Moon is the best tasting by far. Friendly, accommodating staff too. Best Salt and Pepper Tofu and Fried Rice!

I placed our first order tonight. Thoroughly impressed! The lady on the telephone was professional, knowledgeable, informative and prompt. The delivery driver was friendly, polite and maintained great social distancing. The food was hot, fresh, tasty with good quality ingredients.Was recommended to try here by a friend and we were all super impressed.We live in Boughton and we’re pleased with how well the takeaway travelled, it was still piping hot upon opening.Thank you, we’ll call again.

So we order from here regularly and the food is always amazing, the Szechuan beef is to die for and they tell me it’s all cooked fresh and you can definitely tell by the quality. Even my two kids enjoy the food which is unheard of in our house! The staff are friendly and very helpful especially when advising of their Covid-19 system which is really straight forward! They have had a new menu of recent that I’ll share on here as I can see it’s not been updated, but they’re also on Facebook I’ve found which is helpful!

Visited centre parcs, this fab chinese is just down the road, put in a £50 order, managed to get back to the lodge with it still warm, all the dishes everyone enjoyed! Salt chilli tofu, Singapore noodles, pork fried rice, chicken and mushrooms, hor devoured, satay chicken,all lovely Need I say more.

We were staying at Sherwood forest for a few days and being gluten free I checked ahead that this intolerance could be catered for, very quick friendly response that most dishes could be adapted although prepared in the same kitchen, which wasn't an issue for me personally. Same friendly, nothing too much trouble service also received on ordering, we settled for the crispy shredded chilli chicken and the crispy shredded chilli beef plus vegetables in sweet and sour sauce & crispy seaweed all of which were gluten free and very tasty too. We will certainly be back next time we're in the area!

This is one of 3 Chinese takeaways in this small village, although the food is good it is quite expensive compared to others, you can sit in and eat , also prawn crackers available to snack on whilst you are waiting

You can’t beat the amazing food at China Moon. The Chinese dishes are out of this world and is the best food you’ll have.....the staff are very personable and recognise you by name....highly, highly recommended!!!

Just moved to Edwinstowe and looked up for local food outlets especially Chinese, China Moon came up as a good place to get good food. I went in yesterday to get a takeaway menu. My wife and I looked through it and we decided to place an order, we were told that it would be about 20 minutes, I virtually just sat down after getting plates I would and have and cutlery out and there was a knock on the door, it was here within minutes. THe food was the best Chinese that I have tasted in years. The chicken satay was tender and just the right amount of spice, as for the rice it was Brown rice which made is far healthier and tasty and for the sweet and sour king prawns they were crispy and done to perfection. I would and already have recommend them to one and all.

We called in for a takeaway last Friday evening as we were staying locally at Sherwood Pines. We ordered a couple of starters and four mains, all of which were lovely. Friendly service, great food. Will be back next time we're in the area!

We were staying locally so thought we'd give this place a go due to the good reviews. First of all, the place doesn't take cash which we weren't told until we had to pay, so had to walk to find a cash point. The ribs were £7.20 which I thought was rather expensive but we wanted to give them a go. We ordered salt and pepper ribs but when we returned home we saw that we had actually just been given the plain ribs and they were bone dry and had no flavour at all, completely not worth the price. We also ordered a plain chow mein, which we also thought was fairly pricey at £5.00. Fair enough it was listed as a 'plain' chow mein but we expected bean sprouts or onions in it, but it was purely just noodles, and they were also dry and had no flavour whatsoever. We ordered a chicken in garlic sauce which was completely bland and the sauce was watery. We ended up throwing most of the meal away and getting a pizza instead! Really disappointed.

Decided to try here for a change. Chose small fried rice,chicken and cashew nuts, chicken Hong Kong style and chips. Order took 20 mins to cook. Lots of people coming to pick up orders placed by phone and many others ringing to place orders for collection later. Disappointed by food for price. The rice was rather overdone and the Hong Kong chicken was dry and tough. Chicken and cashews was fine, but nothing special. I do feel the portion sizes particularly chicken and cashew was too much. Perhaps offer a choice of sizes and reduce price of smaller one. I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.

I’ve eaten Chinese food ( my absolute favourite food) in some of the best restaurants in England including London and Wings in Manchester and I’ve never tasted food this fabulous before what an absolute treat. I don’t live locally to this take away restaurant ( wish I did) this delectable eating establishment is worth a stay nearby and a phone call ..... don’t expect excellent food to be fast food though they are busy as you would expect from food of this standard so if you want to moan about how long your food took to arrive then order elsewhere also you get what you pay for and this excellent cuisine is well worth the bit more you pay for a takeaway Chinese. I’ll miss you when I go home tomorrow but trust me I will be back and the exquisite food experience will stay with me until my return. Thank you Mr Gu you’ve amazed me with your culinary genius

Got to say, placed an order on Sunday evening, staff member who took the order was extremely pleasant, and was bang on with timings! Got the food home it was still hot and was amazing, best prawns and curry I’ve had for along time! Thankyou I will be back :)

We get takeaway from here regularly. It’s always so tasty and perfect. Today, not so much. Very clear from the average taste of the dishes their regular cook/chef didn’t cook these dishes. We may as well go to the Chinese restaurant around the corner, it’s a little cheaper and serves bland food.

We like to try different takeaways, as sometimes they go off, this one also has seating, our food was piping hot ( I always collect, they can deliver but I prefer collection ), tasty, usual portions, will use again.

This place is a take away but it also advertises eat in. On a walk tonight and thought it would be nice to eat in there. Went in. No one else in. No one waiting to order. No one sitting at tables. No food being cooked. No phone calls. We were informed that:

Ordered a takeaway during a recent stay in the local area. No problem ordering via phone and food ready for collection when on arrival 15-20 minutes later. Requiring cash and not taking card payment was a bit of an inconvenience.

Firstly, I have been sat here for nearly an hour. All a I want to do is look at a menu. Where is the menu. There are plenty of pictures of the menu but some are old and some are new and there are different prices. I don’t know what is right and wrong. The restaurant does not have a website, can’t find it on just eat, can’t order online and lastly they don’t take cards. Who doesn’t take cards this day in age. How can a modern business in the 21st century operate so poorly. All I want is an up to date menu, somewhere to order online and the option to pay for it on my debit card. I’m going to the fish and chop shop. At least they are online, these are not even on Just Eat. I would have liked to review the food but sadly I can’t actually get any of it.

Used this takeaway when we stayed at Sherwood Pines in July and the food and service is as good today as it was then. Ignore the suspect poor reviews, the food is reasonably priced with excellent sized portions.

We visited my family and decided to order here because the other Chinese was closed for holidays. It is now £19.50 for half a duck! The food is good but not worth the astronomical prices. It has gone up again! Such a shame. Nice girl on the counter, nice food but the prices are a joke.

We try and get takeaway or delivery from China Moon at least once a week. We get 4 vege and 1 prawn dish for under £25.

The food was actually really good but the prices! £19.50 for half a duck is terrible. Some dishes were actually more expensive than a top rated restaurant. The restaurant bit is not what I would class as a restaurant but each to their own. Unfortunately we shall not use this again unless they rethink the prices. This is not London.

Absolutely lovely food, really really tasty and fresh!! (Would recommend the duck, and the large prawns on set meal D) Short drive from Center Parcs, but they also deliver to the gate! Have been back a few times now and would highly recommend. Really friendly staff, who are helpful and also really kind! We were staying in the Forest Holidays and thought we would give China Moon a try. Excellent food with generous portions. Worth a visit and they will also deliver but Edwinstowe is only a 5 minute. Very enjoyable meal.

I highly recommend China Moon, the food is fresh, clean, non greasy & delicious! I have a couple of food allergies, the staff always remember this, they are more than happy to add or remove an ingredient. The vegetarian food is excellent and very tasty, especially the salt & pepper tofu, tofu with green peppers in black bean sauce and vegetable chow mein. You won’t be disappointed if you order food from here, make it your next food treat!

We’ve lived in the area for a good 5 years and this is the only takeaway we actually use, always good food, hot, tasty and generous portion sizes. The shop is always clean and the kitchen is pristine, you can even watch the chef prepare your meal! Definitely recommend!

Ordered as staying in a local lodge near by. Terrible service from young girl on phone. Didn't take the order down correctly as she wasn't listening. When arrived it was missing items that we had been charged for and when we phoned up she said we hadn't asked for items forgotten! The food was very bland, tasteless and extremely dry. If you are staying in lodges near by I would give this one a miss

We were staying at Center Parcs and after seeing the exhorbitant prices of the on site takeaway, decided to take a gamble on ordering from China Moon. We ordered for 9 people, the food was ready when we went to collect it and all correct. The portions were generous, freshly cooked and we all agreed it was one of the best chinese takeaways we have tasted. Wished we lived a bit closer, it would defnitely be our regular.

Love the food from here. Clean and tidy and staff always friendly. Reasonably priced. One of my go to places.

Have been going to China Moon regularly for the past few years. The last two times however, the food has gone from being 10/10 every time, to 7/10. Not as tasty. We noticed a new cook on the TV (you can watch the cooks cooking your meal). Maybe this is why the difference in food? Let hope he/they get back to the standard we have come to expect from China Moon.

We use this takeaway as it is near to where we live there are 3 Chinese takeaways in Edwinstowe but in my humble opinion this is by far the best .The food is always good the produce they use fresh, the staff polite and is always ready at the time you are told .Never had a bad meal

La comida era excelente, lo que me era el casi frustrado 2 hora de espera. Nos estábamos hospedando en Center Parcs y fue un gran pedido para 12 personas. Ordenados en 19:00 y dijeron el orden tardará 45 minutos y te avisan cuando dejaron a conocerlos en la puerta de seguridad. 80 minutos más tarde me llamó para oír que estaría con nosotros en 20 minutos, 30 minutos más tarde llamé de nuevo y fueron dejando, finalmente conseguimos la comida justo antes de las 9 pm. No importa esperar, agradezco la buena es buena, así que espera que espera, sin embargo, ser honesto, me dicen, así que luego tienen la expectativa. Recomendaría ir ella, sí, la comida era excelente, me voy de nuevo, sí, pero te sugiero que preguntes por un tiempo de entrega realistas.

We checked out local chines takeaways whilst staying at sherwood pines holiday cabins & were very pleased China moon delivered here.The food was hot on arrival taken about 30 mins to arrive, but the food could not be faulted.....amazing lazy evening meal without moving from the cabin.Highly recommend this Chinese if your staying in the area, give it 10/10.Thank you china moon impressive service.

Possibly the best Chinese takeaway ever. We have lived in Sheffield and Cumbria and tried a few takeaways! Only recently discovered this after moving close by. Can actually see them cooking. Food is gorgeous.

I go here regularly as the food here never disappoints me. If I have my food delivered it is always hot and I've never had a reason to complain about the food. There is always plenty of meat in the dishes and I recommend to anyone.

We ordered from here as a change to our usual. We chose several items including duck and we were absolutely shocked at the price. The food was okay but it was no better than my local which is far better value. The prawn crackers were the worst I've tasted and we found some dishes very bland. We also asked if we could change a dish on the set menu and we were shocked when the lad told us no it's already prepared so we will charge you to change. They state everything is fresh so we were very puzzled. The item we wished to change was cheaper and easier than the dish advertised so as I said very confusing. We can't recommend sorry. Far better Chinese in the village.
