Lady very blunt on phone! We went and collected the order the salt and pepper chips for some reason were covered in sugar !! Then we had onions on food after saying none ! Worst Chinese we’ve had !!

Just had a Chinese takeaway meal from China kitchen holsworthy it was sooooo nice had Singapore chowmein chicken and tomatoes it was amazing price and quality of food you couldn't fault so will be going back in a couple of weeks .

Absolutely disgusting food few mouthfuls and put in bin ,flavourless ,dry basically just slop a waste of £35 ,we live in holsworthy will never again buy from here again, they really need to be shut down or sort it out so avoid !

This was the worst Chinese I have ever had, what a waste of £44, most of it went in the bin, the sweet and sour chicken h.k style was rock hard. The vegetable chow mein came in a cardboard type box, which smelt disgusting & made the food taste of the smell. Would not recommend, only one of our family ate theirs. Don't waste your money

Food very poor particularly disappointed with crispy duck over cooked and crunchy Ordered food and said I would collect at 8pm 45mins later waited till 8.10 then gave up and got a take away kebab down the road

Agree with other reviewers, food is rather bland. Young chow fried rice had pork and prawns, but no ham or peas as advertised, and also tasted fishy-pretty sure the prawns were past their best. Chow mein was better but still rather bland. Service rather slow-called my order in, got given a time for pickup, and still had to wait 20 minutes past my given time. Will not visit again, there are far better takeaways only a short drive away.

Young chow fried rice supposed to come with chinese roast pork, peas, prawns and ham. Peas and ham entirely absent. Pork plan. Prawns way past their best, whole dish tasted fishy. Roast duck chow mein bland but okay. Chicken balls best part of the meal but still, very bland! Phoned my order in and was given a time to collect, but still had to wait 20 minutes past my given time. Not recommended.

Unfortunately one of the worst Chinese meals I’ve had. Good size portions and hot however NO fresh ingredients what so ever. All sauces tasted the same and was just awful. Shame.

Certainly not the best by far. I stick to the same everything as its all I like from here. They have no idea on foo young it's like an English omelette.no beansprouts or peas. All very bland.

Lovely chinese! We had chips, special fried rice, chicken chow mein (was a bit odd with mushrooms in), bbq ribs, spring rolls, chicken balls, sweet and sour and bbq sauce. only complaint is that the bbq sauce was definitely not bbq flavoured at all but still nice. And would’ve preferred paying with card but couldn’t!

Same as previous reviews not good.i ordered special curry it was runny hardly any meat and as for the chicken balls soft dry been sat for a while!!!and ive never been to a chinese that boiled rice not included with curry what a rip off as not here,over £3 for one pancake roll!!!!,Wow!!!!

Utter waste of money. Burnt, tasteless, excessively oily food. The only Chinese for 10 miles is probably why it still gets business. Go to Bude.

We have a take away at least once a month from here and have for several years and have tried numerous dishes and never once had an issue great service great food very tasty and not greasy at all, we have visited some very nice and expensive restaurants over the years and are happy to pay good money for good food and lucky to have them on our door step don’t understand the negative reviews

On holidays in the area. It's The best curry I have had in ages. Nice thick sauce. Loads of meat. Quality chicken balls. Sweet and sour sauce was amazing. Prawn toast. Nice and crunchy. Very satisfied. Will be having again before my holiday is over.

I have never had such a bad Chinese before most of which went in bin !!! The duck was terrible just all burnt no meat this is a £10 dish and I was even worried about giving it to my dog !!!! Truthfully I’m not one to complain but I can’t understand how this Chinese is still open it was terrible be warned

Hard to understand the bad reviews, we have food from here regularly and have had very few issues - if there is a problem, they are quick to sort it out. Love their no. 39, Chop suey, Peking ribs & special fried rice, amongst other dishes. Run by nice people.

Awful, worst Chinese I’ve tried eating. Had a few mouthfuls and chucked it straight in the bin. Infuriated for the money wasted.

The restaurant needs a good face-lift, and alot of paint and decorating to make it look like a Chinese takeaway, it's plain bland and a very boring place, the food is not all that great either, I am going to stick to bude from now on, had it once before a few years ago and wasn't good then, i thought I would give them another chance but still not great, I am just going to bude next time, sorry to be so blunt

Terrible 2 hours after eating and I'm still on the toilet

Shocking. Will not be visiting again. Crispy Beef. Not crispy, swimming in watery sauce. Aromatic Duck. Greasy & couldn’t be further from aromatic. Came with sauce, but unsure what it was. Dry Ribs. Bland, grisly and far from dry. Flavourless. Sweet & Sour chicken. Don’t. Plain Noodles were ok. Just. Good week for the dog! We won’t be back. Can only think that the lack of competition in the town is the only reason they are still trading.

Clean and Covid compliant with a plastic shield between staff and customers. We placed a very large order 24hrs in advance to ensure it was ready on a collection time given by me. Not only was the order ready but piping hot and complete to order. China Kitchen don't hand out prawn crackers for free so ensure you order them or be disappointed. Prices are competitive with good portion size. I recommend: King Prawn and Cashue Nut Crispy Beef House specail No 1.

Tried a few times to have something different, anything that isn't chicken balls and chips is tasteless.

If I could give no stars that would be amazing! I wouldn't bother, take your custom else where. I ordered s/s chicken balls changed the sauce to curry! The chicken balls were horrendous and the curry sauce was runny and didn't taste like curry! Chips were over cooked and just didn't taste nice! Won't be ordering again. Will go bude instead.

Basics such as the chips, noodles & chicken balls are ok - basic - but ok. The BBQ sauce is absolutely VILE. Literally pork flavoured water, cannot believe they charged me over £2.00 for a pot of it! Gutted

Quick to pick up… I really wouldn’t recommend this takeaway to any of my friends or family. Unfortunately the food was soggy, couldn’t even chew and swallow some things.. rice was dry and felt uncooked. Won’t be going here again.

we had a takeaway from here today and found it to be very poor, the satay was watery with not a lot of taste of satay, the sweet and sour was like vinegar and the balls had the appearance of being cooked and re heated. very poor

What can I say 🤷 I'm never one for complaining but wow and wow springs to one's mind!!!!! Having just moved to this beautiful place in the countryside with my family 👪 my wife being 7 months pregnant craving a nice Chinese I ventured to the local Chinese restaurant and ordered my wife's food upon returning home 🏡handing the bag of food to my wife whom at this time replied ummmmmm 🤔 that's not smelling to good any way on investigation the egg fried rice was very dry the chips well where only half way cooked and the beef curry well didn't look fit for humon consumption safe to say it all went in the bin never have I come across such a shocking Chinese

This was the worst food I've ever had ,probably due to two young kids cooking it, and they were not chinease.rice burnt.prawn toast deep fried.sweet and sour prawn balls soggy.what a waste of money.

Can’t understand the bad reviews we had take away for four of us all having different dishes and all of it was lovely the Singapore noodles nice and spicy chicken and prawn balls nice and crispy the sesame prawn toast again very tasty and very crispy everything was good will definitely return

If I could give it -100 stars I would. What a absolute disaster. How can they call themselves a Chinese takeaway. Firstly the girl on the front desk was more interested in answering the phone when serving us. Twice this happened before we could even pay. We received our order and were informed by a previous customer to check our order. So when we got to the car we checked and low and behold missing chips. Went in to ask for the missing item, which the blonde lady was lovely and apologised When we got back to our stay we played the food, absolutely disgusting: BBQ sauce was chicken stock Sweet and sour was vinegar Bacon in egg fried rice Chicken in ginger more like pure ginger with a hint of chicken Crispy beef tasted of pure vinegar no beef taste Then top the whole meal beef curry the beef was GREEN YES GREEN. Both myself and my friend now feel physically sick and we returned the whole meal to get out money back Fingers crossed we are not ill as this has ruined our get together after over 2 years AVOID THIS PLACE! Even if it’s the last place in this town to go, beans on toast is much safer

One star is over generous, the food is awful has a very strange taste to it and not much if it either for the price - bulking out dishes with cheaper ingredients is very poor! That’s not the worst of it any shop that uses 2 taped together clear shower curtains for PPE is surely not taking anything serious - the amount of times I saw chefs walking into the freezer getting frozen items with no clear segregation of foods not washing hands, putting frozen chips in the fryer with bare hands going out the back door back in again still not washing hands was amazing I’m surprised environmental health hadn’t shut them down!!!!

Probably the worst chinese I have ever ordered. Sadly it's the only one for miles around. Dreadful produce, poor service, no customer service. The chicken is always the same dried old tough leather,with just a different sauce poured on top. No fresh veg, disgusting fried rice, no egg, just stodge. Dirty kitchen and dirty staff. Poor excuse for a chinese and expensive!

Very happy with our lovely special fried rice and the staff are great at tweaking the order to suit the husbands need for hot chilies on his spare ribs. Great staff and service.

We had tea from there and it was awful couldn't even eat it lemon chicken was like rubber crispy chilli beef was flooded in sauce and just like a chew toy was nasty and the bbq chicken balls where horrible and the sauce tasted of nothing and the chow main didn't even taste of anything and had mushrooms and other stuff in wouldn't recommend it at all £37 May as well of chucked in the bin food was hardy touched the only thing that was ok was the chips save your money people not worth it very disappointing

Got takeaway after arriving late to our holiday rental. Very efficient service and really good price. Ordered chow mein (which does oddly have mushrooms in), chicken and mushrooms, sweet and sour chicken and prawn fried rice. I would order again.

Really didn't want to give a 1 star shame there wasn't a -5 isn't availableFood was overcooked and beyond edible. Cannot recommend enough that people avoid purchasing here.Chow Mein noodles were overcooked, tasteless and contained mushrooms, chicken balls were a pile of soggy tasteless batter, prawn toast contained no prawn and was burnt beyond anything I've seen before, Crispy beef tasted OK but she to sauce they served it swimming in, it was more chewy than Crispy. Curry sauce could easily be compared to the granuels I tried and threw away from the supermarket..... seriously the only things I can't complain about were the chips, veg spring rolls and sweet & sour sauceI'm hoping I'm not unwell tomorrow which will spoil the rest of our holiday

Only started using the place around 14 months ago. Never had a bad meal and Mr Wong always very accommodating in terms of my request for extra chilli.

As a visitor to devon area this was the nearest Chinese. Very weird menu. No vegetarian options except veg chow mien and mushroom curry but none of the usual options ie sweet and sour etc. Not very well seasoned,quite bland veg spring rolls a bit over cooked. Girls packing order both had Long hair, which was down with no nets and normal clothing with no aprons etc. Having said that it's the only Chinese for miles so people who live probably don't have much choice without driving. Personally I would drive in opposite direction to find an alternative.

Second time to this place and again the food was lovely. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We had: lemon chicken which was definitely not breast meat ! The sweet n sour pork balls were tasty, the sauce less so. The chicken chow mein was super, and included waterchestnuts and mushrooms - a bonus for us. Average prices. N.B. Cash only

Went in, went out, without buyng anything, despite being really, really hungry for Chinese food. It looked awful and is super expensive. Could not believe prices. 6 quid for a bog-standard curry EXCLUDING fried rice, which've added on another 2 pounds 70.In terms of general ambiance, this place looks like a throwback takeaway from the 1970s. It has chipped formica and condensation on the window panes and everything. There's even a badly hand-painted menu on the wall, and it won't take in terms of payment cheques or cards or anything other than cash that - for preference - has been excavated out of the bottom foam of your sofa bed whilst you've been standing over it with a carving knife, weeping tears of despair over the pretty pass your life's brought you to, having been brought so low as to have pay for questionable Chinese food in this manner from a place such as thisl, etc.If I were you I'd give it a miss.

Very small. And not new, but the food they did serve us, was very good. It was hot and tasty and plenty of it. I know this place has had bad reviews, but I can honestly say, the food was good. We had a takeaway, young chow fried rice, curry sauce, very good, special chow mein, very good, egg fried rice. We were very pleased and very full after.

I called into the takeaway, to collect my food. I was met with a tiny place, not very modern and old looking. It was a little off putting. I had already rang my order thru, so I had to have it. On getting home, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good! I was wary, as some of the reviews were bad. I can honestly say, it was good and tasty and plentiful. I had special chow mein, which was very good. Yeung chow fried rice, and 3 curry sauce, and chips. The curry sauce as very nice, but small. Overall. The food was good, tasty and hot. I would use them again.

We tried this Chinese takeaway with some trepidation having read some of the reviews on here. I needn't have worried. We went in with an order for 6 people, it was ready on 10 minutes. Portions were a good size, food was tasty. While not the best I've ever eaten it was very good. The only negative was they don't take credit card payments although I've seen this a lot with smaller takeaways. The girl who took our order was very friendly and helpful and did offer to take the order and direct us to a cash point while it was cooking. In all I would definitely recommend.

The meals are wayyyyy overpriced for small portions and the food is average I would not reccomend getting chilli beef and when they say they will give you free Prawn crackers they charge.

Staff are lovely never any issues, food outstanding, chicken never any other than true chicken breast! Worth the money..

I love a Chinese but I’m sorry to say the bad reviews of this place are bang on! The food had a very strange taste to it I ordered special egg foo yung which was the best of a bad job, the prawn fried rice was tasteless and the soft noodles were totally over cooked — I hate giving bad reviews but if your on holiday and looking for a take away ( as I was) go the extra distance into Bude it can’t be worse than the disappointment I felt with this place - no photo but it looked ok

Had bbq spare they taste like rubber! The sweet and sour chicken balls was all batter Sauce was like water it was horrible definitely won’t be going back horrible, best thing about my tea was a beer to wash the it down but saying that left most of it.

Was just ok.... nothing special. Curry was a little to watery and chips were a little anemic. Not very welcoming new signage needed.

Please do not waste your time or risk getting a bad stomach by ordering a takeaway from this restaurant! On entry it does not look great or the cleanest but having only just arrived at our holiday cottage we decided to take the risk and paid the price! Whilst I played it safe with chips and rice my husband decided on BBQ ribs in sauce, the ribs were a pale orange tasteless mess but being a bloke he ate them regardless and ended up spending the next 3 days in the bathroom! The only thing we ate differently was this so chance it at your own risk!!

I had king prawn chow mein which was lovely a little too greasy though! Curry sauce was way toooo spicy to enjoy and BBQ sauce was tasteless but the sweat and sour was good ! Prawn crackers better standard than most Chinese Good service too

Have been to China kitchen many times and never been disappointed with the food we have received. Everything is freshly cooked and tastes delicious. Staff are very helpful and prices are reasonable. Would recommend to all.

We were advised to re try this Chinese having had a terrible previous experience around a year ago.Whilst the food was hot and ready when I arrived for collection it was poor. The lemon chicken had barely any chicken in it, we are use to a chicken breast cut up not chunks of batter, the black bean sauce on my beef was more like a grey gravy and you couldn't taste the black bean, the Singapore noodles which are normally rice noodle were egg noodles and were crammed with massive chunks of mushrooms. All in all the takeaway was terrible and I will be travelling to bude, Launceston or Bideford from now on.

Han sido unas cuantas veces, bastante local y no ha sido el mayor fan pero tienen diferentes platos a probar todo, pero la última noche fue la peor y que no regresaremos! Patatas fritas eran o muy crujientes y plana o duro como han sido recalentados, el pollo bien no lo llamaría pollo sólo pasta absolutamente repugnante. Hemos probado este lugar muchas veces a darle una oportunidad, pero eso es ahora que va en coche 15 minutos extra para ir a sun wah en Launceston. La salsa curry estaba bueno!

La comida era preparada rápidamente y todavía estaba caliente cuando llegamos a donde estábamos a 10 km de distancia. El menú es muy típico, pero la carne y el jengibre fue muy bien recibido y bien vale la pena. El arroz frito no era tan buena.

Esta es una muy pequeña para llevar en una pequeña ciudad mercado Devon. La comida era excelente, recién preparado, bien caliente incluso después de un viaje de 15 minutos. Pedimos por teléfono y la comida estaba lista 16 minutos más tarde a la hora acordada. No hay errores en la orden, rápido servicio amable.

Called in for a take away at 5.45 there was no one in, so service was fast, there was some concern over piles of part cooked food in open containers eg chicken balls in the open kitchen area, The portions were small and the prices are high, no food health rating was on show and the place seamed grubby, there seams to be little choice in this area

We've never had a bad meal from this takeaway. Dishes prepared quickly and piping hot. The spicy noodles are great and the black bean sauce sauces very good. The prawn crackers are light and not greasy. Always enjoyable.

We have tried this one afew times on the few days it is open and have to say we have had better Chinese take-aways but its the only one in the Holsworthy area .

Down hear on holiday and thought we would try the local chinese take away.the politeness on the phone when ordering was a great start.When arrived was greeted well food was being cooked in front of me so new it was fresh.The quality was outstanding ant portions were just about right.overall a brilliant chinese not to be missed
