I really liked how lovely the staff were, turned up late at night and was greeted with some really welcoming faces and a warm bag of food. Doesn't take too long to cook and they actually give me what I order. Will definitely be coming again!

Why oh why did the manager remove the Chinese take away? It has lost so much of its appeal and seems to be just scraping by. There is no variety of food any more. I used to be a regular visitor but, because it doesn't cater for the whole family, I tend to go elsewhere nowadays. Does the proprietor even care about his customers and staff anymore because it certainly doesn't seem like it. He is very rarely there and when he is there, he seems very surly, unapproachable and quite offish if one should try and complain about the cheap quality of his raw stock. At least the long-standing staff are still pleasant, efficient and polite - which goes a long way and also says a lot about their loyalty to what seems to be a sinking business. Such a shame

MAGGOTS!! Collected food this evening, got home to discover a maggot poking out of the chicken. Immediately returned the food for a full refund. Other customers in the restaurant, also saw the maggot, and asked for refunds. The attitude of one staff member was absolutely shocking, as if I had done something wrong. She even went as far as questioning the other customers who asked for refunds, trying to say it was a bone. Every customer in the restaurant saw and verified it was a maggot. The staff tried to take the bag with the maggot in, however due to the owners poor attempt at a resolution I have kept this to add to the photos. Avoid this place at all costs, unless you're short on maggots for your next fishing trip! Been coming here for 20+ years, never again!

Getting worse and worse. So sad as was lovely. The lady with grey hair that recently joined takes so long to wrap the chips and pack food it's all stone cold. This has happened so many times. Waste of money. There is a horrid oily taste to chips now. Won't go again!!

Please please please get a card machine back, you must be missing so much trade since you went to cash only. People don’t carry cash, and a lot of people don’t carry their cards anymore, it’s all about Apple Pay etc. Banks offer different rates for card processing they are not all extortionate. The app has different prices on it to the shop.

Overpriced and have to use their app to order chips with a minimum order of £10... And if they don't have something you've ordered on the app then they won't refund you. Absolute rip off, avoid.

Had my first delivery from there tonight had bbq ribs for starters out of this world, so tasty, my wife ordered chicken chow mein and I had chicken curry, we have never tasted chicken so tender and there was loads of it, I would definitely reccomend this place if you want a drop dead gorgeous Chinese takeaway !!! Well done team it was banging

Ordered fish and chips tonight. Fish was cold and chips have not been cooked long enough. They don’t taste good. Quantities are good but items are not good enough. Last time here.

When even the smallest business accepts card. I can only guess that they are tax dodgers.

Very disappointed tonight. Ordered large chips £3.90 had about 20 chips to share Very small portion for the very high price. Why don't they just serve you when you Order instead of making you wait while taking other orders. Food is already there cooked Disappointed tonight.

Had always avoided this shop , on rare occasions I’d get chips I’d travel to the Roma in penclawdd or Gorseinon , well called in here this week , pleasantly surprised fish as good as Roma and chips much better , top notch chips in fact

Ordered for collection and was charged via their online app. Arrived to find the shop closed. I know it’s New Years Day, but what kind of unprofessional operation doesn’t update collection slots when they are closed. Very poor and I’m potentially out of pocket as money was taken.

Use regularly and always been 1st class.Chinese food is excellent and Pat in particular is always first class.

Chips soft not crispy, needs more cooking. The portion size is quite large.

Absolutely amazing food, the BBQ sauce is incredible. I would highly recommend this Chinese, we ordered the food over the phone and then collected it. 😃

Don't order food to be delivered!!! This is the 2nd time it hasn't arrived!!! 10 mins after the latest time it was supposed to be delivered I tried phoning, it was engaged for 20 mins. When I got through I had no answer where my food actually was! I was just told they were busy!! So after 2 hours waiting, I was offered 1 poppadom free and she would make it up now!! Disgusting!! No idea of when it would get delivered!! I would give 0 stars if I could!!

Don't ask for small chips , they are all huge portions.

They are so slow. 5 people behind the bar, talking. It took 20mins for a cone of chips. That's what happens when you employ kids to work there.

Every now and again we give this place another chance after quite a few fails. Yesterday was the last one. £20 for 2 pieces of 'cod'. The small amount of fish surrounded by hard, very greasy batter was tough. The chips were chewy. It had all been cooked in old oil. Totally inedible. 90% went in the food waste. The 1 star is for the curry sauce. That was good enough.

Clumps of greasy chips, full of eyes/bad bits, the cheapest fatty jumbo sausage. Fish bar was empty when I arrived but the two staff ignored my arrival and carried on their conversation while one of them looked me up and down. I definitely won’t return

Can’t fault them my order was slightly wrong tonight went back they gave me the correct items and some extras very friendly staff and helpful food is good

If I can rate it less I would. I ordered at 20.45 and was a treat for myself. 11.14 and no sign of food. Won’t refund do it being “on the way” unless they’re delivering from Newport or England then I don’t think it’s turning up. £25 I spent with a ridiculous price of 4.50 for delivery. I wouldn’t go here ever again. There are much more nicer Chinese around there.

Lovely little takeaway, amazing that they do both original fish and chip shop fare and Chinese food. Great for if your party can't decide what they want to eat or if you like to make your own fusion food! Can recommend combining to make your own black bean beef loaded chips.

Chips were very greasy horrible taste won't go there again

Food was cold and soggy, only thing that was warm was the chips. Second time iv had bad food from there now. Haven't ordered for about 6 months due to the first time so definitely won't order again.

Ordered food for delivery, it was over an hour late! When it arrived the order was wrong, we phoned and was laughed at by the woman, a bloke came on the phone and said he had to wait for the boss to come in to sort it, really?? We ordered on the app and have proof that what we recieved was wrong. We will not be ordering from here again!! Would rate it a minus if I had the option.

Local chip shop & Chinese take-away

It seems the place has been taken over or changed for some reason over the last month or so. The two young staff members seem to be more interested in each other than doing the job, getting things wrong.

Very friendly staff, go here at least once a week, treat for the grandchildren.they only wanted a burger tonight,but hey were given a few chips as well ,no charge.The Chinese menu is excellent also.Very clean chippie

As always freshly cooked chicken and chip's. I'm staying with my mum in killay at the moment but I live in cockett and still wouldn't go to any other chip shop.

The chip shop side is very good !! But recently the Chinese style food is very poor ! Always been top notch . Sadly recent meals do not reflect previous quality

I write reviews when I feel there's something to say and for China Kitchen/ Killay chip shop, it's been a long time coming. I've dined there lately and it's been first class. Portions, menu choice, presentation, cleanliness & customer service. Under new management and highly recommended.

Do not order!! Ordered on Deliveroo this evening, waited 1 hour + for them to then cancel my order with no explanation after that long waiting… disgusting. Everywhere else now shut so can’t get food in. Will not be returning!!!

We have visited this chippy for over 40 years but today was the worst ever. I couldn't believe they thought it was okay to serve the a bag of potatoes they call chips discusting

Food not the best. chips when in the bin. Under cooked and like mush potatoes never again don't waste your money.

Chaotic, slow service, always waiting for chips which are always undercooked and to tightly packed. Avoid the Chinese menu like the plague. Expensive and swimming in oil.

This must be the worst chip shop anywhere. So disorganised white chips, packed so tightly together I had chip mash. I’d travel anywhere to avoid this place. Maybe should try being either a chip shop or a Chinese and not both. Also any chance if browning the chips??

Since these boys have been given this business in killay its got terrible, never order by phone for delivery you have no chance of seeing the food. A good takeaway gone to pieces.

So was visiting the in laws and decided to get a Chinese / chip supper for the family. We had a mix of both and neither disappointed. The chips were great, huge portions and great taste. The Chinese food was also great, curries came with rice and sweet and sour was enough for 2 . Will be having again. Sorry looks like I forgot pics!

First time I have tried the China Kitchen, I was very disappointed with the food …ordered a Special Curry and Fried rice and when I got home only had the rice! After eating the chow main and spare ribs , I think I had a lucky escape not getting the curry😂😂😂

The chips they are supplying now are very large and not cooked fully so they are not crisp just a soggy mess. Until this changes will not go there again. The curry is now very sweet, it is more like a desert more than a spiced curry. The updated shop is not very good as you have to queue for your food outside which takes for ever.

Substandard at the very best. Thought it might have improved under new ownership and a shop revamp but sadly that wasn't the case tonight. We had soggy chips and soggy battered fish, even though it was a two-minute journey back to the house. Very disappointing!

Ordered before 6pm, meal for 1 and charged £2.50 delivery. Food came 2.5 hours later!!! That was after 2 phohe calls to complain. Aparantly owner won't put enough staff or delifery drivers on. Will not use again

We had previously had a great meal delivered a month or so ago. However tonight we were told our delivery would be 30 to 40 minutes. It was 2 hours! The food was cold, the batter was hard with hardly any actual fish and the chips were chewy....awful take away

Food is great. The delivery team and service is lovely. Totally recommend. That’s just when things are going well. Once they had prob with delivery (car broke down) but this is when the service became outstanding. Called me twice to let me know and apologise made all good fresh and gave some extras :) then told me they would remember my order for next time. And they did ! A very happy customer.

We've lived in Sketty for a couple of years and we don't have takeaways very often. The ones we have had locally have been disappointing so it got to a point that we were driving back to Morriston to have a decent Chinese takeaway meal. I just happened to go on to Just Eat and came across the China Kitchen. 4 for hygiene rating, not bad reviews so we thought we should give it a go. Stunning. Delivery driver polite and apologised for being late even though it was only 10 minutes. Food was still piping hot and absolutely delicious. Best chips and chicken and black bean sauce I have had in years. I have plated up 4 meals with the portions that were sent as they were so generous. I would really recommend this place. We will definitely order from there again.

Omg what has happened to this place ! Just had spicy (apparently) curry sauce and chips! Might aswell have put sugar all over my chips!! Hurrendous !! Even the dogs refused

Absolutely without doubt the most terrible chip shop around Swansea. The horrendous man behind the counter has no people skills. The portion size is tiny and prices are huge. I ordered pie and chips, and sausage and chips. The pie took up half of the tray. I complained about only being given half a portion of chips and he immediately got very defensive and rude. After getting nowhere with his rudeness I left the shop. I bit into the sausage and the sausage wasn't cooked throughout. It was bearly lukewarm. Again I took the sausage into the shop to tell him about it. Straightaway he wanted to take the sausage from me to bin it and offered me a replacement sausage. All I wanted was my money back and to hold onto the evidence if I become ill. Reluctantly he agreed to reimburse me for the sausage as there were other customers in the shop. If I could give minus stars then I would. The make out that they are still a Chinese takeaway, but the owners are Italian with a nice Chinese lady working for him.

They had all the goods we needed on the day we visited and the staff were helpful.

A massive con! Between just eat and this restaurant, they will take your money Not deliver your food and then hang up when you try to ring! Stay away from both these companies

We ordered fish and chips at 7.50pm, run out of cod, run out of plaice! Tried to order a mushy peas fritter, run out! Substituted fish for scampi. Waited an hour...nothing then a call to say that the driver had mixed up deliveries and someone else had had our order! I said that we did not then want that as it's not very covid secure plus it would be cold. Hour and a half later driver turns up with what was supposed to be the order which belonged to the other people but says that it's our order but no scampi! Phoned to complain and ask what was going on and was told that they would cook fresh and when the driver arrived back would turn her around with fresh order. Waited half an hour and phone rang to say food on way, I asked the young lady if she realised how long this had taken and to point out that the delivery was not covid secure at which point the young lady said but we have sent fresh food. I pointed out that their delivery person observed no covid secure principles and would be phoning the council on Monday to be met with don't have a go at me I only put up the order! So I ask to speak with the manager but am told that he is out the back cleaning and not to have a go at her. I pointed out that I had asked to speak to the manager and perhaps when he had finished his cleaning that they had our number and he could call me back. I then asked for a refund and the phone went down! Needless to say we will not be ordering from this place again. Ordinary food, 2hour delivery which cost £2.50 and a shocking attitude from the staff.

Item missing, phoned and spoke to girl who said she had packed it herself, ( maybe she got mixed up with another order?)she checked with driver of van, item not there. She said there was nothing she could do as she was just doing her job, I asked if the manager could sort it out, but he never phoned back. Awfull food bland and tasteless, was very disappointed, it’s the most expensive Chinese in the area so expected it to be nice, mushroom and onions hadn’t been cooked enough, egg fried rice was just boiled rice, and the chow mein went in the bin, first and last time I’ll be going there so anyone reading this don’t bother, much nicer takeaways in Sketty criss and cheaper too. Wast of £17 and had to cook tea, bummer. It should be rated a 1

Well my boyfriend nearly cried the chips came with a few chips and the rest batter the egg fried rice was boild the chicken take like NOT chicken and the curry sauce was like water I am really unhappy with the food we have recived thank you it in now in the bin and I wasted £15 thank you for that 😣😣😣

Best fish n chips ever, can’t beat brutish made chips, also had chicken chow mien my son said it was so tasty with lots of chicken , this is our no 1 place to go now
