China City Buffet & Restaurant in Greenwich

If you want simple Chinese food, no frills, they give you a good honest portion and decent flavour. It’s not flash but it’s decent.

Food was very tasty no complaints! Big portion sizes for the price. Worth going. The meat was plentiful and so was the prawn toast.

5/5 I’ve heard good things about this restaurant and this evening, tried it for first time. We got a takeaway and ate at home. The food exceeded expectations honestly. The beef was tender and very tasty. The noodles were very good. Seasoning was spot on - not too salty. the prices are quite agreeable, too. I will definitely go back.

I wish I had read the drives before I ordered. It was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. After 3 bites I had to throw it all in the bin. Even the refried rice was rubbish. Stay away from here.

Nunca ordene desde aquí. Cada vez que realizo un pedido, me doy cuenta de que he estado sobrecargado y me han dado el equivalente más caro de lo que pedí. Cuando pregunté por esto el personal fingió no entender. La comida era tarde y el frío tampoco valía mi costumbre otra vez.

The buffet is fine and reasonably priced although nothing about it is really exceptional. Good value is its main draw.

Its not for the gormand but if you like chinese food and are very hungrey, their buffet - eat as much as you like - is excellent.

Late Monday evening, China City didn't look at all promising - nothing veggie listed on the outside menu, harsh lighting, congealed buffet and the few veg dishes hidden away at the back of the menu. I spied char siu ho fun noodles listed and asked the waitress if it was veggie. It was pork, but she said she could do it with veg and tofu, with or without sauce, so I opted for that with black bean sauce. I savoured a Tsing Tao beer fully expecting it to be the only decent thing I would ingest there. My plate arrived loaded with about a kilo of delicious looking, freshly prepared noodles, authentic Chinese veg and tasty tofu. Took me ages to eat but I finished it all - was one of the best Chinese meals I've had in a long time and dirt cheap. Inexplicably my partner opted for the buffet - she didn't go back for more.

we stopped there once in a while, not bad for Chinese buffet, dinner offer is more interesting (more choices) than lunch. Cheap drinks, big filler, never too busy.

It was ok, bit MSG heavy - not sure it's worth the price that was being charged. It's open late and there is choice on the plus side.

I arrived just as they were closing up so I decided to have a large foil container filled from the buffet selection. The dumplings were lovely and moist. The spicy lamb was soft, tasty and very spicy. The chicken skewers with satay sauce was less memorable as were the chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce. Over all my choices filled the hunger gap very well for a reasonable price.

I've seen what other people have written but my experience was of a busy restaurant come takeaway with brisk staff and a high turnover of customers. I found my food perfectly reasonable and cooked to perfection. Will visit again.

Auf der Suche nach einem schnelle Abendessen kehrten wir hier ein. Da bei einem Buffet immer etwas ist was man Essen kann, machten wir uns keine großen Gedanken. Das Restaurant verspüht ein wenig Fastfood Charme, Der Empfang war jedoch freundlich. Das Buffet ist in der Mitte des Raumes augebaut. Die Auswahl ist reichhaltig und es wird regelmäßig mit frischen Speisen aufgefüllt. Der Geschmack ist in Ordnung, für den Preis von 9 Pfund am Abend kann man glaube ich auch nicht mehr verlangen.

Food had been clearly stood for a number of hours and many dishes had a dry crust on top due to the heat lamps. Shocking quality. I asked for diet Coca Cola and what I was served tasted like a cheap alternative (IMO) I'd recommend this venue was avoided, a number of better venues in Woolwich.

This is not a luxury place. You wouldn't come here on a fancy date. But....if you want somewhere to eat that's cheap and relatively good food then it's the place. The food is frequently refreshed and theres a good selection of starters, mains and sweets. It's a fairly typical canteen style buffet...what's not to like?

Had a fair lunch with a selection of Chinese meals. The buffet offers few "international" meals as well so if someone is not favoring typical Chinese meals, can still join for lunch.

Food is very tasty but unfortunately I got serious food poisoning from this place. I foolishly took a chance after a friend of mine had the same outcome after eating here on a previous occasion.

El título lo tiene todo. Es un buffet con comida china de buena calidad. No esperes manteles de lino y música clásica de fondo. Como local llevar es genial, pero no vale la pena ir desde otro lado de Londres.

Not bad selection of food including all the standard favorites at the Chinese. It's not earth shattering great food but what do you expect for £7. And you leave feeling full. Nice banana toffee fritters and lychees for dessert.

I've only been here once, so it could be variable like another reviewer says. We went 7.30pm on the Saturday of the Easter bank holiday weekend. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. The place was clean, the staff were very friendly. They charge £1 for credit card transactions, and you pay before you sit down. We really enjoyed the food. They leave out a small amount, which means it finishes quickly but then fresh stuff comes out again. I can imagine if it was fully packed it'd be annoying with things finishing quickly. We really liked the duck and chicken satay. Give this place a try!

I have been to this buffet a few times, most recently had a terrible experience with it but previously it has been good. The best advice I can give if you are going to try it, is to have a look at the food in the buffet before you sit down and before you order anything. This is because sometimes when I have been there, the food has been truly fresh and delicious (and cheap!). The actual options are the same every day and there is a fairly good variety. But other times, like my most recent visit, there was hardly any food in the trays and what was there appeared to have been sitting under the heat for a very long time. I tried it anyways - my mistake, it was absolutely vile. I should have looked at the food beforehand. Overall a 3/5 because sometimes it's a 2 and sometimes it's a 4. Staff and service are very pleasant.

Having visited many Chinese restaurants already, this is one of the best one!The buffet has long selections and everything tastes good. I loved the crispy seaweed from the buffet, usually they don't offer this in any other restaurants.It has fair prices, however this is not a posh place to go, but still surprisingly lovely.

Thought there was a good choice of buffet food as had been here before with family. Lots of space to eat also. The children especially liked the Lychees for dessert which they had never tried before.

Having found meat in the vegetarian noodles and complaining about this the management chose to argue about this and threatened to call the police and argued that we were just doing this because we " couldn't afford the bill". Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I'm only rating as a one because there is no option for zero

Very reasonably priced in fact probably the best value in the whole of south East London, The hot and sour soup was brilliant ,totally perfect.My only criticism was there was no crispy aromatic duck in the buffet and the sweet and sour chicken looked a bit funny

Went here for lunch with a couple of work colleagues. Place is simple, suitable for a quick lunch, in and out in under 30 minutes. There was a central buffet area serving all the standard Chinese buffet dishes. The selection wasn't massive but was good enough for £7.95.The food was hot, well cooked and tasted good.
