Saikei Chinese Restaurant in Greenwich

I've eaten here twice and I really like Hong Kong-style egg tarts. The turnip cake is average. The others are pretty good. The atmosphere is great and many people choose this place for family gatherings on weekends.

Good food but service not the best

Went there today based on recommendation from a friend from HK for some authentic HK dim sums. There were a lot of tables taken on the Saturday so it's a good sign. Service was what you will expect from any Hongkong restaurant. But when the food were served, I was a bit disappointed because of the quality was really not up to authentic dim sums in Hongkong or even China mainland. The skin of the dumplings was soggy and broken. The fried dim sums were too oily and salty. Surprised to see a lot of big groups coming to eat. And majority of them were speaking Cantonese so they must have found this place attractive for some reason. Price is really reasonable though.

Bad atmosphere, untidy, I was the only guest, food was average with room for improvement. Better to eat somewhere else.

This is a great example for anyone craving a good Chinese. Prices have gone up from my first visit, but you know what you are getting with a massive menu, a very clean environment, and service is always present and consistent. This is a top spot after a few hours shopping around the 02 outlet or prior to a concert in the 02. 🫡 one of the Gems locally for me.

Duck had more bones than meat - excellent crispy pork belly but subpar crispy duck. Spring rolls were slightly burnt the sesame toasts completely uneven - some are double the size of the others they shipped the most outrageous sauces I ever ate with chinese food: english mustard and some horrible unidentifiable whose base was Worcestershire sauce??? in chinese food?? food ordered by deliveroo arrived quite cold. they took like 5 minutes to dispatch - I assume it was taken from a cold buffet with lunch remainders. Ive paid almost 50 quid - subpar quality, low quantity and obnoxious sauce flavours. forgettable.

We've been coming here for many years, not regularly but a couple of times each year. It's not pretty or particularly friendly if I'm honest but the food is great. Authentic, fast and varied with loads of waiting staff working fast and efficiently. Usually busy,, we'll continue our visits thanks

Hong Kong Style restaurant serving lovely Canto Cuisine

A traditional Chinese restaurant located next to the Holiday Inn. It's a 10 minute walk from the nearby tube station. The dim sum is of good quality. We went there on Saturday and the restaurant seemed to be very popular among the locals.

A nice "yum cha" meal with the family. Full of MSG so sleepy all day.

Todo lo que pedimos fue ordenado instantáneamente, la comida salió rápidamente. Las porciones eran de un tamaño decente también. Sentimos que el precio era justo dado que está en Londres. Sí, la decoración necesita un poco de atención, pero para nosotros como familia no podíamos fallar! Sin duda comería allí de nuevo!

This is a great Chinese restaurant. The food is great, well priced and good sized portions.

The place is not fancy but the food was great and the service was good, food came quickly and service was spot on.

I am from HK and this dim sum place serves authentic dishes like from home. Price is reasonable but service is hit and miss depending on your table location, plenty of staff around but restaurant is always packed full at weekends. Be nice to your waiter and call them “靚姐 靚仔” does help to get their attention with your visit. Parking is shared with the holiday inn and again always packed at weekends, pay via phone app as no machine and no free parking. Very close to the old “see woo” Chinese grocery store (now re branded to more Japanese grocery) and there is a 豆腐花 dessert take away place in the industrial estate next to that. For non Chinese speaking/writing visitor they have menu with English and picture. You order by ticking the boxes on your table ticket which has number reference to the item on the photo menu so don’t worry. Lots of waiters around so there will someone who can take order in English but imagine all 60+ table full it is a bit hectic if they need to explain each dishes etc My favourite dim sum place for 15 years

Authentic dim sum! Good value of money

This restaurant is a great option if you're looking for a lively atmosphere and generous portions. Be prepared for a wait on weekends, as it's clearly a popular spot. The food is good, and you definitely won't leave hungry!

Not good food, bad service, messy environment, will never come again

Does not accommodate for breastfeeding mothers. Apparently doesn't matter to them if babies are not fed. Despite being in the corner with a cover over me and baby, was told to feed my baby in the disgusting disabled toilets where it stank and there was no seating! We also spotted rats outside around their bins where there back doors are (which was open).

Authentic and delicious Cantonese/Hong Kong cuisine. Great service! The Fujian Fried Rice was 10/10!!

I made an order from Saikei, delivered by Deliveroo, the food was horrible, meat was cut in big chunks and hard, beef sauce was salty, my whole food was not worth it, very disappointing

You can see lots of Chinese people are going there which mean the food is quite good. The only downside is paying for the car park.

This is my husband and I's local dimsum spot..The food always come swiftly, freshly cooked, very hot and always hits the spot 👌🏽We really like the dimsum here... served until 4.30pm..We've also been here for dinner, ala carte menu and the food has been consistently delicious..The staff are always very helpful but very busy. The interior, however, could do with a bit of an update; we dont mind it as we come here for the food, but if you are one that likes a bit of an "ambiance", then you might find this place a bit outdated..Having said that, if you want delicious, fresh, no fuss, Chinese foodn then you will enjoy this place.

Realy good, serves authentic Chinese food, good for those looking for home comfort or the adventurous not from around here type. Gets super busy weekend lunchtime yum cha time, can get big que but is managed very effectively by staff with a ticket system, Also have to pay to park via an app cost about £3.50 at the time of writing this

Ordered on Deliveroo today. Food was cold, meat was full of bones, noodles dry and not fresh. Very disappointed. Everything went to the bin. Will never order again 🤢

Excellent Dim Sum and truly the same taste that I used to have in Hong Kong. Very friendly staff and helpful. Dishes serving hot and quick! Very good dining experience. But, there was an unfortunate thing happened about the parking. I have followed the instruction in the menu to pay the parking before I left the restaurant. The user interface only allowed me to enter the departure time (no option for the arrival time). So I presumed that the arrival time was recorded by the system and the fee would be calculated automatically. Howevee, later I received a PCN saying that I did not pay the full charge and the fine is £100! I am appealing this with the Car Park Enforcement and hope SaiKei can reflect this to the Parking Company about the problem of the user interface. It definitely refrains me to visit SaiKei again if it's not solved.

Really good for large events as well as small ones. Friendly staff and good service. They tried very hard to accommodate specific dietary needs. Tofu was lovely.

I don’t think I can count how many times I’ve been to this restaurant, in my opinion the best authentic Chinese dim sum in the East London. 👍

Check the bills! Price from the menu is inconsistent with the charging price. Ie. Prawn dumplings in menu listed £5.5 but turns out £6.5 or £7 in the bills. Feel like being cheated.

The stuff member are disrespectful and have no manners. I called the restaurant to book a table for my sister birthday dinner, they kept saying they can’t hear me multiple times, I have to use 2 devices to call them still saying the same thing. They don’t want me to book the restaurant because of my accent is very strong. Very racist

Service was great despite all the other reviews. I didn't find them rude but they were busy and very much on the go all the time. The food was really nice. All hot and fresh. The only downfall is the charge for parking.

Don't agree with the other comments on the service. The staff were attentive when requested and used initiative as well, I think lack of extra courtesy is due to being busy. A negative is the parking situation, the only available parking has to be paid for. The food is amazing, hot and tasty and there wasn't any big wait.

Really enjoyed the banquet we had here so much better to that of Hong Kong city in New Cross but don’t expect much friendly service

Location is slightly further away from public transport, but easily accessible with a car. To begin, food was a mix bag in my opinion. Siu mai, har gao, hor fun, Cheong fan, char siew bao were ok but the rest were a big miss. For example, custard bun was all dried up and not watery enough. Service wasn’t that good as dishes were served incorrectly to us multiple times, it looks as though the delivery system was off. We were also charged incorrectly for a dish that didn’t arrive but we managed to rectify that from the bill. Atmosphere is alright but not the best that I could imagine.

This is the one of best local chinese restaurant around. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so because the food still taste good. However, portions have reduced and prices have increased which is understandable. the service is good and everyone is friendly.

I am yet to dine at a Chinese restaurant more deserving of high praise than Saikei in Greenwich. Food is punchy, fresh and perfectly executed. The service is faultless and the atmosphere convivial.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Very busy inside. Simple and honestly very tired decor. Service was incredibly prompt and efficient. Though I’ve had better Chinese food, this was perfectly fine dishes. The price was very reasonable for the huge portions we were given. Really liked it here.

Nice food. friendly staff . Parking is free for 30 minutes. If you're staying longer, you can either park in the nearby retail park a few minutes walk away or use the QR code in the restaurant to pay for parking.

The food here is really good but sometimes the service could be really bad and they often mess up orders. It has also often been found some marks of non clean dishes such as a cup with a lipstick mark on it.

First time being here, good place for dim sum and Hong Kong style food. 12pm Saturday already very busy but attentive waitress and food does come pretty quick.

Most of the dim sum are 5 pounds each. A bit expensive but the taste is good.

There is not a good Chinese restaurants near where we live. The closer and great one is Saikei restaurant near O2. We have been there with friends and family for many years. Nowadays, parking is bad, you only allow to stay 20 mins, otherwise we have to pay. The food ‘s prices are expensive. The discs have lots of oil in them , specially the beef ho pho. I can not believe, I had spend over £60 of take away, I like the small pot of chilli oil, they ask me to pay £1.00 For these reasons I will not going back

Tasty and authentic Chinese food

Better than Royal China for cheaper. It's pretty good dim sum and value for money. Would not say it's the best in london but not bad at all

We were trying to do a takeaway for the dessert and when it first came out there was a hair on it and we asking for a new one, then seems like they just wanna troll me and gave me another one with hair on, or maybe its the same one but they just flip to the other side .what a bottled job u guys did. Shame on you! It's a curly hair so I can wonder if it's armpit hair pubic hair or a beard? Anyway any kind of hair is disgusting！

I have been coming here for over 20 years with my kids and lately the food has been awful. Very disappointed, portions are smaller and I’ve had to send dishes back because of taste and quality. I won’t be going back in a hurry!

Very good and authentic food, waiters and chefs are busy a lot of the time however- so make sure to remind them if something you order doesnt come out.

Been coming to this restaurant for their Dimsum for many years now. The food is simply delicious. I have been to many Chinese restaurants London China town and I can say that the Dimsum at Sai kei is more enjoyable. Not easy to get to if you don’t have a car though. It is several stops by bus from North Greenwich Station.

Beware of this restaurant’s demagogic parking culture Be careful of parking traps. After I parked my car last time, I used my mobile phone to fill in the parking information in Century Restaurant. Since I have several cars, I accidentally entered the license plate of another car of mine. It lasted about a week or so. He was fined 100 pounds after he sent the letter, and he paid the parking fee for that day. The parking culture is very confusing, and you will be fined for filling in the wrong information. In short, everyone should be careful to verify the parking information before eating. This After this time, I will not drink tea at Century again to avoid another unnecessary disaster!

My wife and I came in Today, Wednesday 24/04/2024 for lunch at 12.00p.m, the restaurant was crowded. The food was good, but they the staff need urgently to be train for customer service, because, after paying the Bill, while on the way to exit, we´ve been caught saying, " You didn´t pay" then while I was showing évidence at the réception, the employer at the till took it from my hand agressively, and did´nt apologies for wrong doing.

This was our first time we came and definitely not last time. Chicken was one of the best I had in London. Chicken was fresh and good flavour in the rice. We also called for dimsums bbq buns, prawns and mushroom( instead of mushroom inside, it was on top of dimsum which was bit strange) Over all good place on budget with no frills.

Poor experience , with rude and inattentive staff. We noticed a marked difference to how the Chinese customers were being served which was a lot better than us. Any question about the menu is answered very aggressively, all the food came out quickly so it can’t have been freshly made! The discretionary 12.5% charge is unavoidable unless you want to get into an argument! I also worry about the hygiene of the place as I saw a waiter openly scratching himself and he never washed his hands after! Yuck!!! We won’t be going back , pity because it’s so close to where we live.

You can try the dim sum and Xingzhou fried rice. The price and service are both good.

A little bit expensive and could do with a few more vegan dim sum dishes but overall very nice and tasty.

Been coming here as a child, still has lovely dimsum and has a really nostalgic feeling. Try their prawn rice rolls and Thai style chicken feet they're my lost favourite dishes for dimsum. As for main dishes I always come here and get my roasted duck and beef ho fun from here. This is the best dimsum in southeast london..

The flavour and quantity is quite good ! The chicken tastes fresh ( not like the refrigerated ones ) . The service was super quick for take away ! The restaurant is always filled with people eating in groups and that is also an indication of a great dining !

Parking at restaurant is not free which is a disappointment Food and service was ok Have been here previously where we were seated by the window with a huge ant problem crawling over the chairs and tables and the staff seemed to think it was an inconvenience to sit us somewhere else.

First off, this restaurant is in a holiday Inn which is never mentioned....after that, it's bright lights and couldn't care less staff , combined with everything ordered was sold out at 8pm Friday evening so never ever to be repeated 😡😡

Great authentic dim sum, but be sure to go earlier in the afternoon to avoid disappointment of things being sold out.

The waiter was polite and didn't protest. Unlike the previous time when I paid a fraction of the 15% service charge, the waiter threatened to take a photo of my car registration number and send it to Greenwich county council. These waiters had no manners and would openly argue with customers despite the fact that the bill says Service charge is discretionary. Last Sunday, I paid cash £70 to clear the bill of £66. The waiter said, "You're not paying the service charge 15%?". Again, hassle in this restaurant. I put down £1 coin extra, He said, "My manager will query me for this." I told him that the word DISCRETIONARY meant just that and we left. This thuggish greedy waiter was so rude. They already increased the price of King Prawn Fried noodles by adding £2 since November. MY ADVICE: Give half the charge and ask if the waiter knows the meaning of Discretionary. Ignore their rudeness!

Service was generally ok although not everyone was bothered whilst serving. However the food was not good. Disappointing as we had followed reviews. On top of that the cost was way above the quality and then they added service charge. I suggest avoid.

I hadn’t been to this restaurant for over 10 years, but this was always my family’s favourite dim sum place. I was scared to come back here after reading such mixed reviews in case it didn’t live up to such fond memories, but I’m glad I did! The dim sum here is phenomenal and I can’t wait to come back :)

Would be nice to visit there again

I love the food here! Having lived in Hong Kong for 10 years this is now our regular go to place for authentic tasting dim sum and roast meats. Like everyone says, don’t expect great service or atmosphere, but I would say that’s true in many dim sum restaurants.

We have been going to Saikei for 10 years. We have always been impressed by the authenticity as shown by the large number of Chinese patrons. However the place has gone downhill recently, in terms of food quality, value for money and service. The final straw was being fined £100 x 2 for parking there. We drove two cars and weren’t adequately warned of the need to pay, either in the car park or restaurant. The restrictions applied even at 8pm on New Year’s Day!

Very convenient location as we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Excellent food. Great choices on the menu. Would recommend to friends. Would love to try again. However when we sat down our chopsticks were removed and we weren’t given bowls to eat our dinner from. All other customers had both. I asked for chopsticks but didn’t bother with the bowl. We felt a bit excluded.

Update It’s our second time eating here and like before food and service is amazing. Especially auntie who gave me lots of prawn and fish crackers. Super sweet. We ate here last Dember 17 for my partners birthday around 2pm? We were seated right away and the service we got was great. I was skeptical to try this place because of the negative comments I read here. But what we experience is great, a factor probably because we did not eat here during rush time. We ordered dimsums, chowmien, spare ribs and salt and pepper squid. Everything tastes so good! I love that there chopstick were like the authentic one. Service and atmosphere was great. Definitely will go bacm and hopefully will have the same good experience. I forgot, they give you oranges which were super yummy as it is sweet.

Good value for money and good meal

Terrible food, gone downhill totally must be change of staff. The food is poor, service is definitely failure with not enough staff. Parking have to pay now. Disappointment is the word. Yiban and China Palace are the best for dim sum nowadays.

Lost a lot of it's quality in dim sum dishes over the past 3 years I'd say. The only good thing is that it is fairly reasonably priced and very convenient for bigger groups and families with small children. Parking is now charged too.

Get in early as it's very popular and you will have to wait for a table. Service very good, food equally as good.

Used to be good but the quality definitely has gone downhill. Maybe because of shrinkflation? The quality of dishes is not as good anymore, some of the portions are ridiculously small. The night we went it was busy and it definitely showed. The service was bad and the waiting time is just unacceptable.

Great dim sum. I think it's over priced though now. Yi ban is better. Also parking is expensive.

Very good Chinese food but quite unfriendly staff who seemed put out that we were eating late. Quite expensive but thankfully very tasty and generous portions. A hefty service charge added of 25% was I felt was excessive. The restaurant is outdated and grubby, stained carpets but we gave it a try as it was very late and we needed food, they accommodated our late table, we left well fed. It is disappointing that the staff were not more friendly.

Came here for a baby shower banquet, the banquet food was good overall, especially the lobsters. But the place is so run down, it desperately needs a refurb.
