China Chef in Neath Port Talbot

When I first moved to Neath I went here on the off chance. There was no-one inside but then a lil lady jumped up from behind the counter comedy style and shouted "HIA!" Food is always good here but from that first interaction it's the only place I go. They don't deliver unfortunately but it's worth the effort to get in the car/stroll up.

Been coming here for 20+ years now its a family favourite restaurant. Never had a bad meal, nor poor service. Always welcomed with a smile and kitty (the owner) is Brill! She can recommend some gorgeous dishes for the adventurous types. 5 star all the way

Food is terrible , crispy beef is not crispy, and who puts lettuce in it??? , the bbq sauce is just a kind of sweet gravy , curry was OK but there are much better Chinese takeaways in skewen area . Would not recommend

In all the year's I've eaten @CHINA CHEF i can honestly say i don't think ive ever had bad meal from here.Best beef chow mein about.Great food Unfortunately they don't deliver.

Collected food from this venue and it was below average. Crispy beef was thick and soggy the sauce was brown and not very tasty. Singapore noodles were also dry with no sauce. At all. Egg fried rice was also dry. First visit here will not be going back.

Food is average BBQ sauce is just sweet gravy, chilli chips hard and portions not the best compared to my local Chinese I thought I'd try it again as used to go there when kitty had it. £32 for the same in my local it's £24 and bigger portions won't be going here anytime soon sorry ..

Unbelievable food..the best around ...Been going there for over 25 years always the same high standard ...tried quite a few being away not vinegary at all.

Been going here for over 20 years it's strange to read the most recent comments about how people had food poisoning so clearly they went and got this confirmed by their doctors and probably their sickness had nothing to do with how many beers or glasses of wine they had consumed haha. And not once in 20 years have I ever had a bad meal . If you don't like quality stick to the usual places you usually eat from as clearly they ain't good enough otherwise you wouldn't be looking elsewhere. Good food good prices 👌

Do not eat here unless you want to have food poisoning! I have reported them to environmental health!! Used to be the best Chinese around.. not anymore!

Absolutely awful cash only shop not stated at all quite abrupt on for phone, left my food out when I went to draw cash out to then only get food poisoning from them do not recommend this place to anyone

Absolutely disgusting I would prefer to starve then eat from here!! The portions were tiny for the price.

Always great food but need to stop answering phone when very busy to get backlog out of way. Waiting close to hour for food, some were longer.

I used to eat from skewen Chinese untill they sold to someone else. so people was saying go to China chef so I did and omg I've been back there twice the food was absolutely stunning and plenty of it and the shop was very clean and the lady on the desk was very lovely to talk to I'll defo be going back there

With the number options available these days, the need for quality and taste has never been so competitive! First alarm rang when it became clear credit/debit cards are not accepted! Only my opinion but for an order of £20 our normal experience of other take aways would see us receiving a bag of prawn crackers as complimentary, this was not the case! Our meal consisted of special fried rice, king prawns in black bean sauce and Cantonese style sweet and sour chicken - the rice dish was dry, flavourless with a tang of old oil, very few vegetables and topped with slices of grey chewy beef - in fairness the prawns were a good size and juicy but the remainder of the dish lacked flavour and was very ordinary - the chicken coating on the sweet and sour dish overwhelmed the tasteless meat and was soggy, the sauce was plentiful but very sweet! Every establishment has the opportunity to impress and encourage its customers to return, however, China Chef, we will not be back!

My wife and I have been customers of the “China Chef” Skewen for a very long time, 25-30 years, we started going there when I lived in Briton Ferry, 26 years ago I moved to Carmarthenshire, and I would still make the 40mile round trip pilgrimage to Skewen at least twice a month, because the food and owners were amazing, even though Kitty and her husband and children no longer run it, the food and staff are still amazing! Whenever my daughter comes home from university, and we ask shall we have a take away, she will always opt for a “China Chef” takeaway! I hope this helps!

I have been buying from china chef now for couple of years. best chinese around. my wife has a gastric problem which means she is unable to eat from many takeaways. This is the only chinese that has not made her ill. the use of preservatives is usually what upsets her stomach. I wouldnt go anywhere else now. Have never had a bad meal here!!!!
