Chilston Park Hotel in Maidstone

Had an amazing stay and Christmas Doo here. Staff are always really really lovely. If I had a singular gripe it would be my forgotten drinks order. But they were more than lovely when rectifying this.

My children arranged a weekend with you on Saturday 22nd February to 23rd February (my 80th birthday)! It was a complete surprise for me and very special! From the afternoon on the Saturday we were welcomed into a private room and were able to have drinks and food! Your staff are amazing and during the whole weekend anything asked for was greeted with ‘of course, no problem’!! In the evening we again had a private room for the 12 of us for dinner! The food was exemplary! Please tell the chef! We also had our own music and basically partied til about midnight where we adjourned to our rooms! My hubby and me having a beautiful 4 poster bed in the Gothic room! Next morning we were again in our private room for breakfast! We then adjourned and my family made us stay in our room til 12.30! At that point we were instructed to go to reception where a lovely lady led us to a much bigger room, bar and conservatory! As she opened the door everyone of my family, all 30 of them, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren greeted me with Happy Birthday! I was so emotional but then we were all treated, in the conservatory, beautifully laid out for us all, to the most beautiful Sunday Roast! All I can say is that the ambience in the hotel was so welcoming, the staff, food and service were second to none! Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart! You made an ‘old’ lady very happy!

I’m writing this review based on the restaurant experience, not the hotel. Our group of eight adults and one small child visited for a 70th birthday celebration on a Sunday and enjoyed the roast menu. We were fortunate to be seated at a round table in a separate room connected to the main restaurant, almost like having our own private "room with a view." Now, onto the food, without a doubt, this was one of the best, if not the best, roast dinners I’ve ever had. The portions were incredibly generous, with three large slices of succulent, tender beef that could have been cut with a spoon! Every element of the meal was outstanding. An unexpected highlight was the live singer performing during our meal. She was classy and talented, adding to the overall ambiance of the restaurant and making the experience even more special. Service started off well, but unfortunately, things took a turn when it came to the birthday cake. We had pre-ordered a cake from the hotel, which, like the roast, was delicious. However, one of the servers accidentally dropped half of it on the floor, without an apology, simply cleaned up and brought out the remaining portion. Getting additional drinks proved challenging, and after our meal, service became frustratingly slow. It took 20 minutes for plates to be cleared, another 25 minutes to receive the bill (despite asking three times), and an additional 30 minutes just to pay. We even had to threaten to leave before someone finally brought the card machine. I don’t mind relaxing after a meal, but waiting an hour and a half just to settle the bill was excessive. Would I return? Absolutely, the food was exceptional. I’d just hope for a significant improvement in service next time.

My husband and I have just recently had the pleasure of staying at Chilston Park Hotel for a one night birthday trip. This is by far the best stay that I have ever had in the UK. The staff are welcoming, polite and attentive, and went above and beyond to make my husband feel special and create great memories for us both. We also dined in the on site restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast the following morning, and the food was outstanding. The hotel is not too far from Port Lympne safari park, and the Ashford designer outlet retail park. I would highly recommend visiting - quiet rooms, VIP treatment and we both left feeling well rested and very happy with our experience. We will be back for certain!

Such a splendid hotel. Would highly recommend. And would definitely go back there. Peaceful, romantic, relaxing and historic.

We had a lovely stay in one of the outside coach rooms I think they are. The grounds are beautiful, and we will be back in the summer to enjoy drinks on the lawn. Evening meal was delicious which we took in the beautiful dining room. Service 👌🏽 There’s a few areas that look dated, such as reception are and toilets but wouldn’t distract from us visiting again. Shame the open fire was not lit where we had pre drinks before dinner - it wasn’t cold in there to be fair but would have looked cosy and inviting. Thanks for a great birthday night away.

Lovely house set in beautiful grounds. An ideal wedding venue. Edit: Since our trip here for a wedding fair 3 years ago, we have now stayed here overnight and what a wonderful experience it was. The food was amazing, the service was extremely good and the room was spotless. I can't find any negatives with our stay at all.

My wife and I attended an 80th birthday party for my father in-law.The event was mainly planned by Becky.My sister in law was able to access the rooms beforehand to decorate and Becky kindly assisted which she was very grateful for. The room looked amazing but it was also the amazing service provided by herself and all the other staff at the hotel. The service was wonderful. kiera and Becky looked after us making us all feel at home.There are too many names to mention they were excellent.Thank you for making it such a special day.

Amazing place for the weekend stay and very tasty food.

Had a lovely stay at the Chilston park hotel, due in no small part to the exceptional service provided by the wonderful staff including Ella, Dan and Steve the night porter. Thanks very much and we hope to see you again soon!

Lovely countryside location, friendly and efficient check-in - started well:-). Large room but very warm, one window did not open, the other tethered with 10cm gap making the it uncomfortably hot, fan provided was not enough! There is no buffet at breakfast, you have to order everything, took 10+ min to order a coffee, after complaining things did improve but far to slow as you can't even get a glass of water:-(. For the price paid service was unacceptable.

Had a great lunch here, staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be going back. Didn't have a room as visited just for lunch.

Wonderful, historic establishment in a very beautiful setting. The only disadvantage is that there is a bit of an antique smell in the rooms.

We decided on Chilston Park Hotel as the Venue for our Wedding recently. Our booking was handled by the Events manager Tara. She was very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process leading up to the Occasion. On the day of the Wedding itself we were allocated 2 members of staff to help with the smooth running of things throughout the day. Both were exemplary. Becky could not have been more helpful. This even extended to last minute help with my bride to be's hair, and helping construct and distribute confetti cones that we had overlooked until the 11th hour. Similarly, Ella was brilliant at all she did, including controlling the accompanying music in the ceremony and reception to perfection. The food was superb, with glowing comments by many guests. All in all we couldn't be happier with our choice of venue.

The place is beautiful it also has a magnificent park and lake. The fixtures are dated, our bathroom was so impractical, quite difficult to enter and exit, the sink is too big and too close to the door. The toilet doesn’t flush properly, you have to “pump” with the handle so it works. There was no drawer cabinet in the room, so we could not unpack. Otherwise the personnel is excellent; always attentive and helpful.

Absolutely superb hotel! We loved spending a few days here with the Cannon Run team recently! Highly recommended!

We have been to Chilston Park during the course of our business and had had the pleasure of staying here too and can honestly say the level of hospitality is amongst the highest you will find. The staff here always go above and beyond and for the weddings we have provided our services at Chilston Park, we have only ever had positive comments about the hotel and staff from our clients. As both a hotel, and a wedding venue we would thoroughly recommend in every respect.

Beautiful romantic wedding location or as we celebrated our 5th anniversary here this year with High Tea and delicious food. Special suites, where you have to be careful on the top floor that it is very low and you often have to bend down if you don't want to hit your head. There was also a wedding party during our stay, but this did not bother the other guests.

Great place for a classic afternoon tea in the Kent countryside

My partner and I stayed here last night for a little getaway as we had a voucher to use. The scenery, grounds and location is absolutely wonderful. We had a double room with breakfast included and bottle of champagne on arrival. The service and food, you couldn't fault. We had a gentleman see us into the hotel, ensuring we checked in okay. We had a gentleman take our bags to our room, ensuring we settled okay, and even bought us a welcome drink. Absolutely delightful. The room itself however is the only thing that let it down. Just simple DIY jobs were needed, like cutting in around lights etc rather than just rolling around it leaving the old paint visible. Painting over sockets etc, could be Tidied up. Sealant in the bathroom and leaky shower. They're little picky things but only when you pay £225 a night for a room, you'd think it'd be top knotch, when possibly a premier inn may actually be better. Although, as I say, they're small things and the weather was lovely so we spent most of our time out and went for a walk around the grounds which was wonderful. The room was A/C though so that was nice and the presentation on arrival was lovely. It had teas/coffees etc with cups, flannels and lotions in the bathroom. We had a lovely stay all in all and would definitely be back again for the experience. Would recommend to others absolutely.

Stayed here this past few days. In Kent for a wedding. Nice place to stay. Comfortable rooms, excellent food, and very friendly staff would highly recommend 👌

Went here for a ferrari charity event, for children in need. Lovely venue nice food and drinks,lovely staff. Didn't stay and didn't see the rooms.

Wonderful venue for our afternoon tea

Came here for a Sunday lunch. The waiters were lovely but the service was incredibly slow. Lots of tables had to wait for over an hour for food. The roast was acceptable but I wouldn’t be coming back to be honest.

Could do with using bacterial spray, ward off coughs and colds. Food excellent.

Had spent a family Christmas here twenty years ago and couldn't recommended them more for every aspect of our stay at the time, a Christmas we all fondly remembered often. Having decided to return for a pre Christmas lunch we all would thank you for the excellent service yet again, and especially to the waitress who looked after us the whole afternoon on what was supposed to be here day off, and this being after part of our party staying the night before and her attending to them for that evening too. Hope we return once more BUT, not leaving it twenty years this time!

I visited the Chilston Park Hotel for the first time today with my partner to celebrate my birthday. How we have not been here sooner is beyond me! We opted for the afternoon tea and everything was delicious! The flavours that we were presented with were unlike any food we have tasted before and my only disappointment is that I cant cook like that myself 😂 Our experience was also topped by who was possibly the best waitress we have had, Shannon. Shannon made us feel very comfortable, welcomed and explained everything to us when presented with a question. The hospitality at the Chilston Park is unmatched and we will definitely be back again 🎄❣️
