Me and my daughter came for a meal after watching Pretty Woman!Poppadum and chutney tray we’re delish! Disappointed no hot plates for main sides! Half tandoori chicken tasted great! Sides not worth £8.95 each! Service charge already on the bill - the waiter had the cheek to ask if we wanted to leave a tip??? Kind of ruined the experience !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food portions were embarrassing for the amount of money paid on each item on the menu, the rice and main dish are served separately to significantly increase the cost of your visit, and finally, some of their cooked lamb was served raw, being completely inedible. Truly a terrible experience which I wouldn’t recommend for anyone.

We had an evening at the theatre and were both hungry after the show, so after a short walk we found the Chilli Shaker, after a quick look at the menu we decided to go in and eat and were shown to a table by the window. It was late and wasn’t very busy but the decor was nice and the waiter was pleasant. We were handed drinks and food menus and after a few minutes we ordered both food and drinks. Our drinks order was brought over and later after a short while the food started to arrive, the food was well presented looked very good and tasted very nice. We only had drinks and a main meal and we really enjoyed the experience, it was reasonably priced and service was good and staff very polite and well dressed and we would happily return next time we are in the area.

Rude and abrasive staff. Under cooked onions in all balti dishes which isn’t right! Spent 25 minutes waiting to be served for drinks and then a further 5 minutes for dips to be provided for the poppadoms we ordered. Steer well clear!

We were 4, had meals but with bad wine (metal cap and ultra sweet). We entered around 9pm but after we finished, the owner literally stood next to our table waiting for us to leave. A bit too obvious and felt unwelcome. Food was ok, nothing special.

IF only it had been slow service or The bland food. But when the manager!! Cleared our table and asked in a perfunctionary manner 'everything ok?' On my negative reply he jumped dowm my throat didnt allow me to tell him what was wrong by talking over me and remarking that we had eaten it all. He was looking at my friends plate. Chicken tikka which although she ate it said it was tasteless. Same for my veg curry. It wasnt horrible it just wasnt curry. And i had requested spicy. The dahl was watery and tastesless. It was taken away and came back thickened and more spicy. The managers attitude was bordering on aggressive. No apology I was very shaken. We refused to pay the service charge. As did the table next to ours. I am presuming that the position of the restaurant(soho) It is considered that it dosent matter. Very disappointing visit.

Was looking for somewhere to pop in for lunch and came across this restaurant. We had the lunch set meal and it was really good - two courses - starter onion bhajis’s, main meal - curry (including vegetarian option), naan and rice. Staff friendly and nice restaurant.

Ci siamo fermati in questo ristorante indiano per puro caso, non avendo altre alternative ed essendo affamati. Il locale all’interno non è male, ma i camerieri non sono particolarmente garbati, anzi, sembrano quasi un po’ scocciati. Abbiamo ordinato un antipasto da dividere e due piatti. Al momento di ordinare il cameriere ha insistito per portarci dei contorni non richiesti. In fin dei conti abbiamo mangiato bene, pur non essendo esperti di cucina indiana abbiamo gradito spezie e aromi. Il problema principale si è palesato al momento del conto, con quella cifra avremmo potuto cenare in un ristorante stellato, e non stiamo esagerando. Un’assurdità!

Me and my wife literally stumbled upon Chilli Shaker. Cozy atmosphere, good service and awesome traditional Indian cuisine. My wife went for the veggie Dal and I had the traditional chicken tikka masala. We loved it!

Var med kjæresten hit da hun anbefalte dette stedet. Fikk bord med en gang og fikk bestilt. Ferske papadoms med 4 flotte sauser og løkblanding. Maten kom og var perfekt i styrke og smakte himmelsk. Vil tilbake hit å spise senere også.

Made a reservation on-line, so easy! Received an email confirmation.... Good to go! Friends over from Italy - They wanted to try and Indian in London - So we did. Arrived a few minutes early. No problem and they laid up a table.. great warm welcome, table laid we sat and reviewed the menu. Everything sounded perfect, so we decided upon King Prawn Jalfrezi, Lamb Jalfrezi & Chicken Tikka - with Pilau and onion rice... To start with Poppadoms of course. Food came out quick and was soooo good! Freshly cooked hot and very tasty ;-) Service was just great our server was so friendly helpful and shared a good laugh with us... Making our evening great. Highly recommend - But book so you get a table! Super evening and thanks to all at Chilli Shaker :-)

While exploring Soho we went to the Chilli Shaker for lunch. Great deal with a starter, main course and rice or nan bread for £8.95 each. The food was definitely reheated/microwaved. OK for a cheap lunch but wouldn't be going for dinner.

Because of the long waiting lines at Dishoom on Saturday ended up at Chilli Shaker by accident. Normally would have walked past this restaurant being in a really tourist area and because of the looks, but "beggars can't be choosers"! It turned out to be a welcoming surprise... For starters all there of us had the mix platter, a garlic naan, pappadums and a chutney tray. The start was really nice! Good flavours in the meat and the chutneys. For main course I had the Garlic Chilli Masala with lamb. This was really nice. Spicy, but not that much. My friends both had the Biryani with Chicken. This was ok... the chicken was really dry and overall the dish had a "flat taste". Overall we had a good meal where unfortunately ons main course didn't meet the expectations after the starters...

We were 4 persons on a rainy Saturday dropping into this restaurant by accident. Nice athmosphere, friendly staff, good and plenty food. We enjoyed our 2 hours stay, only missing English/Irish cider

We are from Chicago and wanted to try Indian food in London. Omg this place was delicious. Best Samosas I have ever had. The sauces were very good as well. And the service was very good. The servers were very polite. I wish I lived here, this restaurant would be one of my main spots.

Slecht restaurant! Van 3 relatief goedkope hoofdgerechten weten ze hier een dure rekening te maken. Er worden achteraf allerlei kosten plotseling op de rekening gezet. Service 12,5%, couverts, naan, papadum, de rekening werd schandalig hoog. Pas op voordat je hier komt eten! Het zijn boeven.

Butter chicken was looking and tasting like mashed pumpkin.. it was truly not eatable. Crying lamb was served with huge amount of onions. Both dishes were tasteless. We addressed it with waiter. He took lamb back to the kitchen, added some chili and tried to convince us that it’s tasty .. nan bread and rice were the only two things that were good over there.

My friend and I arrived early as we wanted to go to an early movie nearby. There was just one other table that had customers & they had already been served.

ristorante di cucina indiana, molti tavoli tutti vicini, tanto da dover far spostare chi siede nel tavolo accanto per poterti accomodare, personale nè cortese nè preparato, servizio abbastanza grossolano e agitato, cibo nella media, con prezzi non troppo economici. Dopo una lunga giornata in giro per la città avevamo voglia di una cena leggera, riso e verdure, senza alcoolici, la cosa non è piaciuta, forse il nostro conto da 32 sterline non era sufficiente per farci trattare con la dovuta gentilezza, al termine ci hanno chiesto la mancia, avremmo voluto domandare per cosa, in ogni caso non l'hanno ovviamente ottenuta. Vista la posizione centrale avrebbe una buona potenzialità, ma noi di certo non daremo più possibilità a questo locale.

The papadams was nice, the garlic rice was amazing, paneer tikka was suberb and the naan was good. Super friendly and polite staff.

La comida esta bien, ofrecen lo que un restaurante indu standart. Poner cuidado a la hora de pagar .Te pone un cargo , que es la propina, pero aparte te preguntan si quieres dejar propina, y al final pagas dos veces la propina, el camarero no te da el ticket . Como no me salian las cuentas le pedi el ticket y se enfado (error mio he pedido el ticket depues de haber pagado). Al final me lo dio, y claro me di cuenta que le deje 8 Pounds de propina. alrededor de 10 euros. Mi consumision fueron 50 euros.

We ate here 3 times while visiting London. The food is amazing and the service is great! Hopefully you get Ahmed, he is a great waiter! Very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Encontré este restaurante y, aunque parecía muy tranquilo, decidí probarlo. La comida era deliciosa y el personal era muy atento. Tuve el pollo dhansak y mi compañero tenía el pollo jalfrezi, muy agradable. Definitivamente volvería a llamar la próxima vez que visitemos Londres.

Mis padres se llevaron a mis hermanas y yo a comer en Piccadilly y estoy muy contenta de haber elegido Chilli Shaker. La comida era increíble y olía muy bien, nos dieron poppadoms de cortesía con salsas, el chutney de mango y el yogurt de menta como uno de mis favoritos. El camarero era muy agradable y servicial. Las sillas eran muy cómodas y eran muy relajantes para hundirse después de un largo día visitando el centro de la ciudad. ¿He mencionado lo bien ubicado que está? Si tienes hijos, les encantará porque tienen menos opciones picantes y algunas muy buenas mangos; ) La comida se hizo en las cocinas de atrás para que puedas oler todas las diferentes especias de la India mientras miras tu menú. sí, gofre )

Fuimos en familia después de pasar el día en la Royal Academy of Art, que está muy cerca. Afortunadamente, elegimos un momento que nos convenía, pero también cuando sabíamos que iba a estar menos ocupado. Cena temprano. Tener niños pequeños, a veces es difícil mantenerlos quietos durante una comida completa.

The servers were extremely rude, the food was good but at the end it gave me diahrrea that lasted all night long. Don't order the spicy masala.

I was in Central London for a Producers meeting and along with a colleague we were delighted to find this restaurant just off Piccadilly Circus, a little pricy but then the rents in this location would not be cheap! but the quality of the food which was a cut above most Indian Restraunts also justified the price I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi one of my favourite dishes and was delighted when I tasted the dish and it had a Kick, nicely flavoured too with a sprinkling of chopped fresh green finger chillies, So many Restraunts serve a Mild to Medium dish and Call it Jalfrezi but this was the Real Deal, the staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant clean and nicely decorated so next time I’m in London I will certainly Visit Chilli Shaker again and sample more of their delights.

Food is a notch above the usual curry house and the service was very nice, but the prices are about double those of other places. £5.95 for a small glass of wine, £8.95 for a vegetable side and mains are pushing £15 so for two people expect to pay nearer £100 rather than £50 - £60. No question about the food, we thoroughly enjoyed it and may visit again for a special evening out - all I can say is that the costs for rent and business rates and so on, make eating out in central London a once a week treat

Very typical, the restaurant was virtually empty, but as a solo guest, I was offered a small table stuck in a corner next to the door entrance. Price levels far too high for this type of place - and the Vindaloo, not very well balanced spicy-wise...The house red clearly overpriced. I noticed 5 waiters in all. Approx 5 guests in a rectangular room easily seating 50-60. None of them asked me if I was ok with the food, nobody cared to fill my wine glass. All seemed to be staring out of the windows desperately looking for potential new customers. Not a good move when you can't treat well the ones you already have seated. This was my very first visit to the place - and my very last one. SIC

I went there with my family including children and toddler in hand. I was amazed by the quality and taste of the food it was delicious. The staff were so good and helpful, it is an excellent family friendly restaurant. Sadly I forgot to take any pictures only remembered once we had finished that’s how good it was.

This is a nicely appointed Indian food restaurant near Kings Cross and St Pancras station. The food was good and the service was pleasant and attentive. It is gluten free friendly food.

We visited on a Monday tea time for a pre show meal as a couple. We didn't book a table and arrived at around 5pm, there was no other diners in the restaurant on our arrival but we decided to proceed. We were so glad we did, the service and welcome was excellent and we were offered a choice of where we'd like to sit. The ordering process was very relaxed and was allowed to run at our pace. Within 10 minutes 5 other tables had filled up and it felt a better atmosphere for it.

Stumbled into this high-end Indian restaurant after the Phantom, (pubs were too crowded) and had one of the best meals of our trip. Attentive, personable service and absolutely delicious food, prepared with details in mind. Nicely appointed dining room (white linen), good wine list. Very highly recommended.

Came here a few years ago and liked it but visited it tonight and was appalled. Starter (mixed starter for one) was clearly not freshly cooked: bhaji was rubbery, as was lamb chop. Main, jalfrezi, was swimming in oil and not at all tasty. Cost nearly £50. Won’t come back and can’t recommend.

Stopped there yesterday, taking advantage of £8.95 special before 1600. Single person serving and food was rotten and minimalistic in terms of meat.

Our first time in this restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. They asked us if we were satisfied with our food at various stages of the meal to which we replied we were.

We've been in the restaurant in King Cross.. The restaurant was clean. The food and the price was very good. The service was excellent. I promised the rest. that I would come back for the India biryani rice. We were too busy to get our bus back to NL.

Everything met or exceeded expectations. Warming fare on an early winter’s day. When you’re in the neighbourhood, stop in.

Di acchitto ci si rende subito conto che è non è gran che, quasi sempre vuoto comunque noi lavorando nelle vicinanze ci siamo andati varie volte. Qualità bassa avvertibile anche sotto montagne di spezie, prezzi inspiegabilmente variabili anche se ordiniamo sempre le stesse cose....direi che basta così. Titolare melenso e insistente. Alternativa valida solo in caso non ci siano posti nei ristoranti del circondario. Qui il posto si trova sempre...

We booked a table for four at “Chilli Shaker” for after a theatre performance,based on good reviews and location.It was great to find an authentic restaurant serving traditional food as on previous visits to London we have been disappointed.The starters were delicious and well prepared, the Chilli Shaker grill was particularly liked by our party.I can highly recommend the Chilli Masala if you like your curry spicy but not ridiculously hot.My partner had a beef dish which was very tender.The staff were friendly and service excellent.We were definitely return on our next visit to London.

Down a little side street. We had the most amazing food. Onion Bahji was beautiful not greasy at all. Tikka masala and passanda. Meal was so tasty. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Definitely a must do for us every London trip.

It’s a hidden gem, offers the best Indian food. We are returning costumers everyone we’re in London. Also great service. It’s a must an in a perfect location just walking steps from Piccadilly Circus and other attractions.

I never went before to an Indian restaurant, so I was a little afraid about some spicy food or hot sauces, but the waiter was very helpful and told us everything we needed to know.

The restaurant is very well position next to Piccadilly Circus. The hosts are warm and inviting. The mango and sweet lassies are too die for. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tandoori Chicken Starters, Lamb Kharai and Garlic Naans. Wonderful food and a decent price.

I came across this lovely Indian restaurant after seeing a show. It was very welcoming with white tablecloths and a lovely ambience. The food was tasty and well presented. The waiter was friendly and I would recommend this place.

We were going to go to another restaurant but it wasn’t open when advertised so we found the chilli Shaker down a side street so as time was tight we had a look. It looked good and was busy so we went in. The food was lovely and the staff were present. I do not think that the ratings on TripAdvisor do this restaurant justice, I would definitely drop in again without a doubt

I’ve been there twice and i can recommend chili chicken masala. Prices are average, so if u want to try Indian restaurant near picadilly circus, come here.

The service was terrible. Waiter are nice but too pushy!! The food is really low quality specially for us loving the cheese nan they were so bad most looking like a pizza . Dishes are not served with rice and the waiter wasn’t happy that we asked for rice afterwards.

We ran upon this place while wandering between Leicester Sq and Piccadilly. Real nice and not-so-expensive offer of special lunch menu, everything quite simple, but really tasty.

We found this place by chance as we were going to the Piccadilly Theatre which is almost next door. Everything was great and Ahmed the waiter was super helpful. While I’ve put it in the price scale of moderate for this area the price is cheap and the servings are large (we couldn’t finish ours) and delicious. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Esta es la segunda vez que hemos visitado el chili shaker en Londres. En ambas ocasiones nos trataron muy bien por el personal extremadamente amable. El servicio y la comida era muy buena y, a diferencia de muchas otras críticas que no creía que era demasiado caro. especialmente en la zona turística de Londres. Sin duda volveré.

Agradable restaurante justo en el corazón de la zona turística. El servicio es bueno y la comida, aunque no excepcional (en mi opinión) es, de todas formas, muy bueno. Muchos lugares turísticos sirven de basura pero no aquí.

Después de leer las críticas en tripadvisor no estaba muy seguro de qué esperar. También yo vivo cerca de Bradford, el cual es bien conocido por su fantástica cocina india y pakistaní, así que el bar estaba ubicado antes incluso de llegar!

No esperes la gran experiencia de comida. La situación es muy buena, pedimos el menú del día y calidad precio perfecto. Servicio mejorable. Y para ser londres muy bien de precio, y la comida no está muy bien elaborada, pero aceptable.

The restaurant is simple but agreeable. Service was outstanding. Real Indian cuisine. Not pretentious but very well spiced. The relationship between price and quality was very good.

Buscando un lugar para comer en una concurrida Domingo en Londres y llegaron a este lugar. El personal amable y acogedor. Disfrutamos de la comida y me impresionó que el encurtidos venga en platos profundos, en lugar de lo poco que normalmente te dan. Comimos fuera de menú principal, y toda la comida era buena. También hay un menú fijo, que tenía buena relación calidad-precio. La única advertencia es que hay un cargo por servicio, y luego se le pregunta si desea consejo cuando se paga con tarjeta. Fue bueno, pero no suficiente para una propina doble!

Very tasty/delicious (and probably genuine, I am not expert :-)) indian food, very friendly stuff (special thanks to Ahmed for guidance and assistance!), price level reasonable and not overpriced. Highly recommended whose interested in indian cuisine!

This place was recommended by the barman in one of the pubs we were in, so decided to give it a try, and glad that we did, my lamb Parthia was lovely, my wife’s korma was a little too creamy for her liking but tasted...

I am not an expert on Indian Food. It is hard to find where I live in Texas so I try Indian food when I am in London. I liked this restaurant. It was not real busy and I went in around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. I was warmly welcomed and my service was outstanding. They came over on a regular basis to pour additional water or fill my wine glass and I had a Prawn dish that was outstanding. I am not a rice fan so I asjed for the Nan bread which I also enjoyed. Spices were just right and in case you did not catch that up front I am from Texas and like hot spicy food.

dinner bill included service charge but only noted as "s charge" on the slip and waiter asked if we wanted to add a "tip" which to most people looking at the bill would not notice that the service charge had already been added and thus double tip

This restaurant was placed in very touristic area , the watts were welcoming but they were having a conversation in their own language so loudly. I don't if that was the manager the short guy he was very funny I think he is trying his best to improvise his customer skills and there was another there sitting on the other table constantly talking on phone so loudly. Disturbing environment. Sorry to say this but we didn't enjoyed the food at all. We thought it would be really good dine out but it was bit of too much with that funny customer service. I would it will improve.

Worst chicken butter ever. It is even not close to it. We just ate the plain rice although it we were starving.

After a dissapointing visit to a chinese resturant at China Town. Where we left without eating and experienced bad service. Excellent real Indian tandoori grill food. Excellent and tasty vegeterian biranyni. Nice and polite staff. Waited 15 min for the food. Ordered tandoori mix grill, onion salad, daal makhni and karachi lamb and garlic naan. Everything tasted real good it was much better than The overrated The Punjab resturant, we visited yesterday. Good portion of food. Hidden gem a must try. Had dinner here this evening. Comments:1. Was warned that the king prawn vindaloo might be too hot - it was nowhere near2. Ordered rice but the waiter didn't clarify whether plain or pilau and assumed pilau (we'd have preferred plain). It was almost dripping in butter and quite a miserly portion3. Ask for all food to be served without fresh coriander (it wasn't, which rather spoiled it)4. Greasy, and flavour-wise, really bog standard. 5. Cucumber raita: watery and flavourlessThere is no reason to recommend this place.

I came here late on night and looked at the extensive menu - alas the keema was vindaloo strength so I figured I better choose something else so I was safe for work in the morning!I went for the chicken dhansak and had probably the best one I have had in many many years. Sweet but not overly so, tender chicken, and a portion actually too large for me these days. I was impressed.There was even a group of French people in there, and you know how fussy they can be!

Es la primera vez que comemos en un restaurante hindu. Pedimos que nos recomendaran un plato y el mozo nos sugirio tikka de vaca (tandori?) que era como un guiso en un recipiente de metal muy caliente, acompañado de arroz y pan hindu. La comida nada del otro mundo, no nos llamo la atencion. Pero el ambiente en el restaurante era tenso con conversaciones en voz alta entre el mozo y otra persona, en hindu (?), muy cerca de nuestra mesa, lo cual me parecio desubicado. El trato parecia militar, poco cordial y poco amistoso. La verdad que en ese ambiente no da ganas de cenar...

We ended up in this place because we could walk in off the street at a time when other places in the vicinity had queues out to get in. It became obvious why: food here was very bland. At least the service was quick but there are better Indian restaurants in London.

It’s great to eat Indian food but a lot of restaurants turn out bland curry; the only difference being how much curry powder they put in. Not here!! The flavours flow with every mouthful. Eaten here 3 times now and would recommend booking. Fantastic every time and you never know, you might even get a smile out of the waiter; a very dry character

During a busy day in London and prior to an evening event starting at 10.30pm we decided to have an Indian meal at 4.30 before taking a re-charge. The timing would be the reason this restaurant was not busy however, the service was excellent and the food very good. We love a curry and I often have the same meal so can easily tell a good meal and this Dhansak was amongst the best I have ever tasted. You wont be disappointed.

Besøgte stedet en sen aften mhp middag. Efter at have bestilt vores hovedretter med hhv chicken tandoori og chili marsala med ris og naan brød, fik vi an appetizer bestående at papadum med forskellige slags saucer og grøntsager til. Et stort plus med en oplevelse af "det lille ekstra" . Under hele middagen var tjenerne meget opmærksomme på at vi var tilfredse og at alt var som det skulle være. Især Showkat var meget ihærdig. Vore hovedretter var i smagen som vi kunne ønske, og alt i alt en rigtig dejlig oplevelse med indisk mad. Vi kan varmt anbefale dig at besøge dHar netop afsluttet to nætters ophold på Huttons. Hotellet ligger i fin gåafstand fra Victoria stationen og i et ellers dejligt roligt område, hvor der er stille om natten. Personalet var meget behjælpelige og kom med gode forslag til de behov der måtte være. Vi benyttede ikke morgenmads restauranten, men dejligt at muligheden var der og til yderst rimelige. Vi kan varmt anbefale dig at besøge denne restaurant.

We visited last night for the fourth time. We usually head here after a show in the west end. Unfortunately at this time there will also be people who have spent the night only drinking and we were unlucky enough to share the restaurant with such a couple. It did take the shine off the evening.However,it was not the restaurant’s fault! The food is always superb, the wine list is good- we had a bottle of St Emillion for under £25. They do a great Irish coffee. We will be back!

Really poor service. Waiters and manager behave in a non-professional way, they are overly insistent and rude, almost disrespectul when taking orders. In the bill a 10% charge was already included without asking us beforehand. I'm giving it a second star just because the food was "ok". Would not recommend and would not come back.

We lie authentic and spicy Indian food, and this restaurant, in the centre of London, was a pleasant surprise. Considering the location, the prices were reasonable.
