My family loves this restaurant and delicious food great service mr.emon whenever we are in the area we come here and order,

Food nice. Good service. Poor toilet facilities in mens room. No soap available to wash hands. Asked staff for soap and he shrugged shoulders and said no there is no soap. I think this is disgusting in a food place 😕. Puts me off going again. Wonder is staff actually wash hands or the kitchen ?

Personally the best Indian I have had in St. Albans. Flavours were delicious and the staff were so warm. Special shout out to our waiter Emon. Will definitely be coming back to eat soon!

Interesting: all the cheaper dishes are 'currently unavailable' when you try to order for collection online. Too bad for you if you just want to enjoy a comforting classic like a chicken biryani or dopiaza for instance. Well, I don't care for your more expensive menu items, so I'll order from another restaurant!

I've been here twice in a week and both times the food and servers excellent. I would definitely recommend coming. My wide was cold due to the airconditioning being above us and they kindly turned it off for us.

What a restaurant, seems to have it all. Nice venue, good ambiance, really good food, friendly staff and a wide variety on the menu. Next time I'm in St Albans I'll be ordering the Lamb Passanda again!

Not too bad service is a little bit slow, but Food was not that great

Was very disappointed eating here on December 21st 2023, ordered a Ceylon curry, but it had no taste of coconut at all, as Ceylons should do? made waiter aware of this and we accepted his answer. Though curry sauce was very nice, it’s not what was ordered? Will eat here again though, the Same issue again! on 19th march 2024 ordered Ceylon curry that didn’t taste of coconut, WHY! 18th April 2024 still having trouble with Ceylon curry? Tried again last night, though the curry sauce was very nice, we still couldn’t taste the coconut that one should expect from a Ceylon, having had a Ceylon curry here before it’s not been a problem, so! our favourite waiter Husain is going to make one especially for us on our next visit, looking forward to it. In general food is very good, the aloo paratha is very nice accompaniment too.today 16th may 2024 Husain did us proud, the chicken Ceylon curry was top notch, the best we’ve had here, a very enjoyable meal 10/10 many thanks Husain👍 Ate here last night 27th June 2024 ordered chicken tikka Jalfrezi extra hot which it was, but chicken was dry, chewy, and tough, one piece was edible, the aloo paratha was dry and not great? We’ve had better. To cap it off we asked for a spicey poppadum the waiter delivered two and said the other was on him, REALLY! They were both overcooked? Burnt! Not acceptable.They have consistency issues as I view it, it’s never the same, this I mentioned to waiter who said he’d mention it to chef, I see no reason to eat here again, as it’s become too often? which creates complaints, I don’t like doing this, we go there to enjoy the food, not to be critical of it, but when it’s quality is poor? it needs saying, otherwise how else will it improve, but it seems improvements don’t happen, or are short lived? The standard has slipped from where it used to be, something that we’ve noticed in a number of Indian restaurants around St Albans, where quality and consistency can’t be maintained. this will be last post on the matter. We will not eat here again, apologies don’t count if you see no change or improvement in what’s dished up😒

I had salmonella poisoning following a visit to chilli in April and spent 2 weeks in hospital. I contacted the restaurant multiple times to ask for confirmation this was being investigated, I received one email back apologising and asking for some more details but nothing following that (despite many emails from my side). I am almost more disappointed with the lack of concern than the actual poisoning!

The service here is exceptionally good and marks out this restaurant as one of the best in the area; the waiters are attentive and always readily available. Nahim was outstanding for his courtesy, politeness and efficiency. The restaurant is beautifully clean with starched white table linen. Food is plentiful and of excellent quality.

Really impressed with our meal. The menu was varied. The food was excellent. Plates were hot. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant decor was pleasant. The loos were clean. We spent £30 per person. This my first time in Chilli Bar, but I have used their other restaurant in Hatfield Rd for many years.

Food OK, but if I could give a -10 for service and atmosphere, I would! We went on a quite Tuesday night in February and from the get go, the waiters had a serious attitude and were so rude, it was almost laughable! When they bought the wrong bread, they accused me of ordering the wrong one!!! Unbelievable! I've never had service like it, they were arrogant, rude and had NO manners. Food was passable but would NEVER go again due to appalling service and zero atmosphere!

Lovely and tasty meal with friends. This place is just a short stroll for us so a perfect place to go for a saturday (or any night) meal with friends.

The Chilli Bar & Kitchen is a very smart place and spotlessly clean. I liked the beautifully starched white linen tablecloths and napkins. The service is faultless; there is always someone hovering to help, including careful advice over dietary needs. The food is outstanding and portion sizes are generous. Only the menu card concerned me: it is just too big and comprehensive, difficult to get one's mind around.

Arrived for dinner on a Monday evening, the welcome was followed throughout the rest of the evening with very friendly and helpful staff. We chose the Monday evening fixed meal offering which was good value and gave you a good saving across having a starter, main and coffee. The meals were very well presented and they tasted as good as they looked, the quality of the food and tastes were excellent and I'd strongly recommend eating at this restaurant.

Food was okay, not really much to write home about but filled a hole. Took over an hour to get our starters and then another hour to get our mains. Normally I struggle to finish an Indian but I actually left hungry. It was very busy so atmosphere was okay but the whole place was freezing! I sat eating wearing a coat the whole time, 3/4 of our party were really cold and the amount you pay you’d hope they could pop on some heating

Wouldn’t normally complain but the food I have just received was vile. Chicken tikka masala tasted as though some one had sprayed perfume in it. Rice and potatoes were stale. £30 I’ll be spending else where.

The curries were quite bland. The naans were a hit but everything else wasnt . .

When we arrived the restaurant was empty, but the staff wanted to seat up in a remote table hidden away that no one would want. In the end the staff saw sense and sat us at a much better table. Food is excellent and tasty, portions are generous. This is the second time here and it is rapidly becoming our favourite Indian restaurant in St Albans....we will be back

Empty restaurant, yet they tried to seat us at the worst table in the building, almost as if they wanted us to hide away...nevermind in the end they saw sense and gave us a nice table. The food was without fail delicious we could not fault the cooking at at, and portions are generous. Only niggle was it was a shame the Okra was cut into such small pieces. Service was attentive with a smile. This is rapidly becoming our favourite South Asian restaurant in St Albans We will be returning

Absolutely disgusting toilets, You can blame the customers but you also should consider very big restaurant very busy and only one toilet only somebody with a brain would understand that you should have somebody attending to that toilet on the weekend to keep it clean make sure it's not blocked it was disgusting and it put me off the whole restaurant to be honest

I had the king prawn dansaak. My absolute favourite and have had several restaurants version over the years. The lentil sauce was delicious but was let down by the stars themselves… the king prawns! Badly overcooked, dry, not the texture of a cooked king prawn that I’ve ever eaten?! Im sorry to say that I shall not be eating that dish again!

The food at this restaurant is simply amazing the best in the City. Had the sizzler and it was so tasty and filled the whole plate- all the food was great and made for an excellent evening out. For St Albans the prices were very reasonable for the best quality food. The staff were friendly and I will definitely be back soon

Nice restaurant, good food. But I really don't like a service charge being added to the bill. A tip should be left to the customers descretion, and given directly to the person that served you.

Portions were small. Onion bhaaji small dry and cold. £7.45 for 5 tiny pieces of meat for a mixed starter! Main courses were very oily. Not the usual standard. Ordered to share with friends from up North so were extremely disappointed

The food was very good and always has been. However, I had to call the restaurant as our order hadn’t arrived after an hour and a half. They said that the order hadn’t printed out This is the second time this happened within a couple of months. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time (mistakes happen), but I’d be hesitant to order again as we did have to wait 2 hours.

The food was extremely tasty. The staff were fast and friendly and the restaurant facilities were exceptional. This is a great restaurant for all occasions, friends family etc. Overall a 10/10 experience.

Really poor customer service and attitude after I slipped on a washed floor with no sign to say so. Terrible attitude from the manager who pushed my friend. Later one of their staff threw a punch after we started to call the police. I shall never return and I'd suggest you think twice about visiting.

Excellent food and service. It was early evening so not many people in there, but as we were going a couple of hours later it was beginning to liven up. Would certainly recommend. Will be going again, hopefully soon.

If it wasn't for the takeaway part it would be a 5 star review as the food and service were spot on. However, having heard how nice it was we ordered a lot more than we could eat so we could sample more dishes. The remainders we asked to be boxed up to take away - Including one full untouched main lamb dish. Having paid £240 for 4 adults the bag of takeaway arrived. Either the staff were hungry or half the food was binned, but we got 3 (very) partially filled boxes. The lamb main was half a box - Where had the rest gone? When queried the waiter said he'd check and let me know. He came back and said "The chef removed the cauliflower and that's why it's smaller". Sounds reasonable until you consider the expensive lamb main had NO cauliflower in it. I didn't even bother asking about the rest, and just paid and left. I don't know who, how or why all the food was missing, but it was paid for and should have been there to take away after this request was specifically made before the table was cleared. Maybe the chef was hungry? Either way, it spoiled the otherwise lovely experience.

Staff struggled to cope with the number of Diners, but staff are expensive and very hard to find good ones.

Where to begin! Service, ambiance and food! Everything was so perfect. Just came for the first time and I’m annoyed we haven’t been sooner. Definitely recommend it. The vindaloo was the perfect amount of spicy that built over time. Can’t wait to go back and try other things!!
