Childwall Abbey Hotel by Marston's Inns in Liverpool

I go to meeting's there every month and a very friendly and welcoming member of staff are always happy to greet us we are treated with the best of service possible aswell as catering for the other members of the hotel and friendly public regulars

I absolutely love this place! Amazing atmosphere and the food is lovely

A vibrant, popular and welcoming pub with friendly staff. The manager spent time to speak with us both at check-in and check-out. Clean facilities and spacious rooms for meeting/dining. A peaceful location and historical-themed pub within 10 mins walk of local shops and bus routes.

Paul and the team made our New Year visit a success. Love the hotel and staff are great, nothing too much to help. Will be back. Mark

Childwall Abbey is a great place to stay and good value. It’s the third time I have stayed and it’s always consistently good. It’s reasonably priced yet still close enough to get into the city centre. I will be staying again.

Food great but under staffed been like this for years but still a loveley pub.

It was very clean and had everything you could need , staff lovely and easy to park

Awful experience. The music and noise from the bar could be heard in the hotel room until late at night. Hardly restful. The Awful stench of sewage from the bathroom is disgusting. You had tried to mask it by emptying what smelt like a bottle of bleach down the toilet but that didn't work. Two plug sockets in the room, neither of which was near the bed is ridiculous. The whole place could do with a lick of paint. It is grubby.

The rooms are clean but a bit dated, the toilet was very noisy (macerator type), and I could hear the toilet next door which disturbs sleep. The pub is great, good food and great entertainment on most nights.

Went to Childwall Abbey to celebrate my sisters 70th ,it was lovely the service ,food an staff very friendly very enjoyable all around,i would recommend it to people looking for a place to hold any family celebrations.

As a family we have visited Childwall Abbey for a couple of years now. We were always greeted and treated like royalty. When we heard that there was to be a change of management we were quite apprehensive but... we did not need to worry! The new management are fantastic along with the familiar faces of the staff :) The rooms are beautifully kept and the atmosphere in the pub is one my dad absolutely raves over especially the older Irish band. We travel from Dorset to stay here and it beats even the most lavish hotels in the area. The food portions are phenomenal and breakfast is amazing. We will continue to stay here and tell all our local family about this beautiful place! Hats off to the team your amazing

Stayed here whilst visiting family in Childwall. Lovely, friendly staff with clean and spacious rooms. Food & drink in the pub is great too and very reasonably priced.

Rooms a little dated but very clean, ideal for an overnight stay when visiting Anfield. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Pub lovely and full of character. Lovely looking building from outside. Parking facilities great.

Overall 'Good' BUT on arrival I discovered that Saturday breakfast was served too late in relation to my required departure time. I had ordered and paid for a Full English Breakfast. Arrangements were proposed for a sort of Continental-style breakfast, in the absence of any chef until AFTER 8.30am. I had ro leave between 8.00-8.15am. However, the dining room was still locked at 8.00am and the member of staff arrived as I was leaving = too late for any breakfast at all. I hope to receive a refund for my FEB order and payment ... Very comfortable bed. Lack of hot water in wash basin but lovely hot shower. Room comfortable.

The hotel is beautiful,great location and amazing food,amazing staff.me and my mum loved everything about our stay.we didn't hear a thing at night which surprised us cause we was above a pub.the room was amazing,the staff was super helpful,friendly and very efficient service,nothing was too much trouble.id definitely recommend this hotel to everyone I know and I would definitely come back in the future

Staff - Excellent Food - OK Accommodation - Unsatisfactory. Reasons. No usb port in room. Poor decorative order. Prison style steel bars across windows. We didn't have hot weather but if we had, the fan supplied would have presented a real problem moving around the room, Bathroom ok except for a grunting noise every time we switched the light on or flushed the toilet. The door in the room identified as a fire door was kept locked. Surely some mistake? Come back Basil Fawlty, all is forgiven!

Welcomed with a smile served very quick & enjoyed the vibes the pub gave & the outside area will be lovely to come back to & spend many hours out there enjoying the sun x

Had a great time welcoming professional friendly staff. Room pretty good room 5. Very clean and spacious but could do with a plug on both bedside tables. Only thing to improve on felt breakfast time for those holidaying finished a bit early at 0930 as we never like to come down when it finishes. Also perhaps add bacon sandwich or muffin to food options.

All rooms have a maserater in the bathrooms constantly going off all night long, rooms are tired and old

The room was old and tired every time I flushed the toilet or took a shower the sewage pump started to work which was very loud and annoying there where bars on my room window no chance of getting out in the case of a fire the room was at the end of a corridor the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and the wall behind the toilet was bits of Formica boards stuck and screwed together and the Formica was pealing off and in a bad state of repair . That said the bed was comfortable the room was clean and the lady making breakfast in the morning was very good at her job everything cooked well hot plate toast still warm when it arrived at the table I ate once in the evening steak and chips it was not good just to put this into context I am 7 69 and have worked my entire working life in catering 53 years as a chef in different catering establishment s on the whole the staff were all very well mannered and did there best to make the guests feel welcome , my stay was just let down by the neglected state of the Hotel I got the feeling the owners are trying to get as much out of it as they can for as little investment as possible. I would just like to say the staff did their best and where very professional but that did not make up for the state of the hotel and lack of an emergency exit in case of fire.

What a great find! Lovely old pub with accommodation. Can be a bit loud when pub open but we were using it as a base for doing a gig in Liverpool. Perfect as we weren't returning until early hours of morning so all quiet by then. Rooms are clean, well kept and the bed is so big I needed a GPS tracker to find my husband lol. Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, top find, great value, we'll be back!

Clean, welcoming. Comfortable seats, quick to clear away and clean. Food hot and quality meat.

Tiny, dated rooms, bathrooms with compressors which fire up whenever anyone flushes or showers, and a ridiculous noise from a quiz on a Monday night followed by live folk music on the Tuesday. Unable to sleep until well past 11:30 on either night due to the volume.

The turkey dinner came piled up with parsnips which were inedible and so were the roast potatoes. The stuffing was rock hard, the menu says pig in blanket and cranberry sauce,it didn't come with the dinner, the next table complained but we didn't. The toilets and outside area is a disgrace 😤 we had booked Christmas Dinner for Christmas day but we have cancelled, don't wanna take that chance, will get in touch with head office for the £40 deposit. On the plus side the building on the outside is visually impressive.

Very good value for money. Rooms are a good size. There is a car park and the staff were great.

Lovely location and gorgeous building. Room is very basic but comfy bed, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Clean. Perfect for an overnight stay as affordable and comfortable. Nice welcoming staff and the pub does breakfast for an extra charge if required. Not tried the pub food as stay when visiting relatives
