Been coming here for the last few years. Have enjoyed every meal I have had? However lately I have noticed the staff can’t be bothered to cook anything more after midnight although the close at 2am. No strips at 00:30 and not re cooking. It’s been busy and we not cooking anymore. No grill after 0:30. It is constantly busy here but I feel the owner needs to ensure that they are keeping the customers at there venue rather than eating elsewhere. This happens most nights I have visited. Food is cooked to a really good standard. But the variety changes after midnight.

A fair price for a meal and a drink. I ordered a two piece meal. The chicken was nice, the fries were crispy and the drink was cold. Unfortunately, the seating can't be used to sit on and eat, which makes life difficult if you want to eat something when out walking. Fortunately, the seating outside the post office was free of lager bums, so I took a seat there to eat my food with 1,000.000 pigeons watching me. But yeah, overall, good food.

One of the most amazing fried chicken place i have ever tried in Cardiff. Pricing is also best. Burgers are also great. Do recommend to try once.

I go here at least 3 times a week. Tried the peri peri peri and southern fried parts of the menu and I think it’s great value. I always get boss man to put extra peri salt on my chips and the service is great. I highly recommend.

I recently had a terrible experience with a meal of burgers and chips. The chicken was so rubbery it felt like chewing plastic, and the peri peri seasoning was overwhelmingly salty. I had to throw both meals in the bin. I strongly advise against buying food from them. To make matters worse, I've now got food poisoning and feel really sick. I've never had such a bad experience with food before.

Usually it has been great, however I ordered a month ago, an entire meal was missing. Figured it may be a one off issue, ordered again today and the exact same thing has happened. An entire meal is missing. They don’t answer the phone either so nobody to speak to about it. Shan’t be making the mistake of ordering from them again.

Used to order from here a lot and was always nice. But the last two times have been awful. Ordered last month and they didn’t send one of the meals, it happens. So we called them to see if they could send out the missing item and they were quite rude. Saying that they wouldn’t send out any missing items and to just claim a refund through Uber eats or they can send out a free meal next time we order, bearing in mind it meant that one of our party didn’t have any food… Same thing has happened again today! We figured it was just a bad luck last time as they’re usually pretty good so we wanted to try again. They have forgotten an entire meal again and now will not answer the phone at all. Will probably not order from this place again as there’s no guarantee that you’ll get what you order.

One of the worst garlic mayo. I ate in my life ever before that it use to be very nice. But now it is very worst pls try too change that... Many thanks

Normally i order from here and food is okay. This time chicken strips burger was very bad the chicken tasted very old and was just dry

Bought a fillet burger meal the burger was dry. Chips were not cooked properly, staff are rude and give terrrible service not visiting there again.

Stumbling home at 1:30AM and in desperate need of food I foolishly walked into chickies. I was met with an array of combo meals and each option was as disgusting as the next. I patiently waited before being called to the front and was met with a warm smile as the waiter handed me a combo 5. Little did I know that I was being handed a bag of poison. I was hoping that in exchange for my stomach falling apart the next day that I would at least experience some degree of quality in the food. Dry fried chicken that had been left out all day with cardboard chips is certainly not what I signed up for. On the contrary, the Fanta I ordered was of expected standard. No surprise given that Chickies didn’t tamper with it! Avoid if you don’t want to eat horrible ‘food’ and be poisoned in the process.

Partner got food poisoning from here! Do not risk it!

This place used to be nice with good food & good customer service. Ordered takeaway from here, food was not cooked properly grilled chicken had blood on it and was pink, the staff in there are rude & haven’t a clue what they are doing.

I ordered 4 firey chicken burgers and breast chicken burger. The 5 burgers were the same. Jalapeño and mayo source. It used to be much much better very disappointed.

I’ve ordered food from here multiple times previous, every time I was unsure if it was food poisoning or just an upset stomach the morning after. I recently ordered food again, and to my shock and disappointment, I received undercooked food, as the food was inedible and the risk of food poisoning, I had to throw the food in the bin, thankfully as I had provided evidence of the undercooked food, UberEats gave me a refund.

Got the food, first time I ever had it, it was fine, just a typical chicken place. However, after my second visit to Chickies, I came home to then get FOOD POISONING. My friend also ended up having a dodgy stomach but luckily that's all he had. I had a feeling it was the wrap that had food poisoned me, it felt cold, raw and uncooked. I am recovering however it was an awful experience for me.

Ask if they deliver and the women was very rude said no deliver and put the phone down won't have food from this place if the staff are rude like that

Chips were really good, chicken tenders nearly as good as KFC, really tasty! Cardboard and paper packaging. All good all round!

Worst fried chicken in cardiff. Stay away from them. £20 work of meal, all went to the bin. Probably couple of days old chicken, very smelly. NEVER AGAIN

I ordered their chicken wings twice. In the first time, I diarrhea the next day and I wondered if it was the chicken wings but I am not sure. After four months, yesterday I ordered it again and I still had diarrhea and I swore I would never eat them again.

Used to be my regular but something has changed. Staff serve old/fry food. Food quality has gone down too much. Such a shame

The chicken was so dry it was bones!

This place used to do great fried and grilled chicken but not anymore sadly. The quality of the food have gone down hill this year first few times I thought maybe they made mistake but after many times trying I have decided stop going there. The fried chicken was soggy, no flavour same with their chicken burgers. The last two times I ordered their grilled chicken wings the inside of the wings was still red and cold so that's it, I won't bother again.

The reviews here are soo misleading! We get food from here quite often and we've NEVER had a bad meal! The chicken is always cooked perfectly, salad is always fresh and the chips are banging! The only (very minor) issue is I would like to ring ahead and order my food, so It's ready to collect when I arrive, but no-one ever answers the phone, but considering it's always busy the service is still reasonably fast, and the staff are lovely! Really unfair that people are leaving such awful reviews for a small business based on such basic things! I highly recommend this place 👌🏻👏🏻

I made an order and she told me it’ll be ready in 15min I came back in 17 min and she told me 10 minutes more and she starts making it and arguing with me bad staff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One tiny chicken fillet in my burger the rest was bread benny's much better value for money.

Came home and they had given us 2 boxes of wings and 1 burger. Wasted money as we paid for 2 burgers. Did not pick up phone, tried calling multiple times. Not worth going back.

Absolutely ridiculous customer service. First time I’ve ever had to leave a review on a place because it’s simply that bad. 0 stars rating for the simple fact that I had taken my strip burger and chips home after the bag was stapled and not put in the correct brown boxes they use. Opened my food and I have a burger with only cheese and no lettuce or sauce of any kind after I specified chilli, not cheese. I called the shop and no one answered. I went back to the shop and then was told to keep the previous items as they would be thrown. The man serving me made me keep the chips they already gave me which was only half full in the bag and then gave me a portion even smaller on top of that. At the end I asked for a peri mayo and the man tried charging me 40p after I had already got home and went back there. He didn’t bother to give me salt or offer any peri salt. Regardless of that effort and the inconvenience they caused me at 12 o’clock in the night he stated to me “you don’t have to come back tomorrow” and now I most certainly won’t. Burger bun and chicken strips are as cold as can be even after going back there and returning home straight away. Like the other review says, try bennys next door… it’s better than dealing with that level of incompetence. Btw it won’t let me do 0 stars but I’m giving it 0. Will be speaking to the manager to establish whether this review remains here or not depending on what’s done. Photos of meal are near the bottom of photos, would advice to check it out before ordering there.

Best popcorn chicken in my opinion and the wings are really yummy but you need to be prepared to consume a lot of oil with the wings (not something I mind as it's tastier without blotting). Chips are nice too, the burger is eh soso, and I prefer the garlic sauce over the chilli if I was to pick one to purchase. Often at times I don't have the cash to purchase as buying alone I would not hit the £8 minimum spend but when I do have the cash, I have probably come here 10-15 times and do enjoy it.

I wish to improve atmosphere and say that Chickie's is now actually very nice. Staff is polite and even if it is before 3am which is closing time. They are nice. And. Boss is very kind man. I was disappointed customer but now I am not :) progress nice to see. Will pop up atain

I've been a regular customer for this place since it first open, the food often really delicious and fresh. The girls in the front desk are fantastic they read my notes (9 out of 10)when ordering from ubereats but tonight I'm disappointed. I bought grilled chicken directly from the takeaway the flavour was great but the chicken was warm outside but inside was still cold! I was served by a new staff as I've never seen him before. I hope this is only single incident.

Hit and miss this place. Went at 7pm and ordered a chicken fillet burger with double fillet. After having one bite I realised how bad the fillet was, the fillet must of been really old and sitting in the warmer for hours. Literally felt like I was eating hard card board, solid as a rock. It was inedible. Unfortunately I had to bin the food. it's like a lottery, one day you may have fresh fillets and other days youll have the really old cardboard fillets. Im Really disappointed so I have to give a one star unfortunately.

Good food but service was a bit confused. Seems you get your food quicker if you stay at the front of the counter staring out the staff. Went in before five others, sat down and watched, waited whilst all those who came after me were served. Even though my food was ready and placed in the top part of the hot cabinet. Please be mindful Chickies that ppl being respectful of your staff and other customers, does not mean that you want to wait longer than you should or be treated different due to your polite actions. Good food though, hopefully was just a one off situation.

Chickies USED to be good...but now they give you burnt burgers. Threw the burger in the bin and had beans on toast instead. Pictures as evidence of the burnt burger don't even do the burns justice.

Went there tonight waited 20 minutes for food all cold £25 went in the hun rang they said bring the food back we will refund in fairness but could not think of anything worse than going there again all in food bags always go here but last twice been bad

Chickies is a great fast food place that's has a great variety of food, from fried chicken to tacos. There are family platters as well as meals, the prices for a meal starts from £4.99+ the only issue is they take cash more than card if your order is more than £8 then you have the ability to pay with card. This is frustrating as most times especially during the pandemic where you are advised to pay by card but you have to spend more here to do that. It's just another way of them making more money, and then blame it's the card fees that tell them to charge more.

April 2021 5 🌟: Amazing food - plenty of peri peri on the chips although no option for peri peri with a meal asked for it in comment and was surprised to receive it, everything fresh and hot! Never disappoints ♥️ May 2021 3 🌟: a bit disappointed as after multiple orders of the meal box they didn't give peri peri after asking in the special orders so lost 2 stars unfortunately. Because its a disappointment when I had a bad day and was craving my peri peri meal and I get boring plain

This is normally my go to place atleast once a week, but recently what I have been noticing is that the wraps are just full of lettuce it's so much that all your tasting is that and no chicken. I don't know if they have new staff but they need to be taught how to make the food I have told them when ordering at desk a few times but still having same problem!!! Please fix this as it's really off putting bcuz your food is really good!

After being served,the manager of chickies followed us whilst sat in his red car during the late evening. He kept staring at us from across the road whilst we were being served at chilli flames on city road. This is not the first time this has happend. He has be seen lurking around nearby competitor's shops and giving strange glances inside them.
