Chianti in Falkirk

We stay a mile from here and this was my husbands 1st visit! As I've been twice before I let him take the lead in ordering he had meatballs to start I had mussels both were delicious 😋 i had the chicken and mushroom pasta my hubby had the seabass special we both raved about our meal which was washed down with 2 bottles of pino grigio! the meal was lovely and the interaction with the waiters enough! My husband says he'll definitely be back which for him is a gold star I've told him for yrs he'd love it hopefully now we'll make it a regular occurrence

Tonight was a birthday dinner with family which we had booked weeks in advance and were looking forward to it as had been numerous times and never had an issue until tonight. We were booked for 630pm dinner with 13 (inc 2kids aged 3 and 8) of us and the place was very quiet only had 2 other tables of 2 people in when we arrived. We had got our table and waited over 30mins for our order for drinks to be taken. Whilst waiting the restaurant was on the chilly side as heating wasn't working. No-one had called us before hand to advise and we had some of our table sitting with our jackets on as they were cold. On the order for drinks we asked waitress about heating which she said she would sort (however never did). We ordered food at 7pm (main meals only) and waited over an hour for the food to be sent out. A couple of other tables arrived well after us and were served their meals before us. No waiting staff checked on our table while we were waiting or apologised for the delay. When food arrived a couple of meals were returned as inedible and burnt to a crisp (lasagne & garlic bread) pasta was cold. The waitress was asked what has been the hold up to which she responded that they got a new head chef on Tuesday of this week and he didn't know how to make the pasta dishes and was asking her how to make them. This was a birthday meal for my mum to spend with her family and was totally ruined with the way we were treated and the food that was served. Needless to say the only fast bit of service we received tonight was how quickly the bill was given when asked for. I will defo not be back as similar issue was had there on mother's day but this was my mums choice for her birthday. Its a shame really as we liked eating here but it's like staff and owners can't be bothered and the staff that are there don't care about customer service, all they care about is money. Go at your own risk.

Staff good and decor lovely. Not sure whats happened it's changed so much, seems to have changed hands. I actually left my starter and the food was very bland, not the usual restaurant standard from Chianti. I agree with the other reviewer...tasted like shop bought pasta and the meatballs were fatty, hard tasted like cheap meat, Staff was made aware. Menu options reduced also. Such a shame as been going for years and handy to get to, better places to eat.

Well since we had not been out or a nice meal for well over a month decided we would give Chianti a visit as both of us had not ventured near the place in many years. Table booked for 19.30 and arrived at 19.15 and showed into a small lounge area next to the main dining area as our table was not ready for us. You would expect to be asked if you would like a drink while awaiting your table im afraid this was not the case no one came near till just after 19.30 where again you would expect to be asked sir /madam your table is now ready nope just a nod from the waiter to follow him not a good start to the meal. Sat down where two menus were left on the table with no offer of drinks yet! Now the place was not that busy but got the feeling a distinct lack of staff might be an issue. Two other families have now arrived and low and behold both served drinks and orders taken yet they arrived well after we did. By this time, we had been in the place well over 30 mins with no sign of being asked for a drink. Eventually had to ask to have our order taken and for drinks to be served. We decided to take the Antipasto di Montagna (2 people) Mix of Italian cured meat, mix of Italian roasted vegetables, mozzarella, olives, cheese & bread could only be described as a child portion and at £28 quid for something you could buy the lot for less than ten pounds. Main course I had the salmon which was ok partner had the Pollo Milanese which was dry and spaghetti looked like it had been a reheat and was certainly not fresh. And to finish of with sticky toffee pudding according to my partner was the high light of the full meal I had strawberry cheese cake that came in a glass yes, a glass as its only a biscuit base with some filling and two cut strawberries on the top left half of it. . To sum up very poor service meal was at least mediocre and that is being kind in my words very highly unlikely to be back at the prices they charge for poor service and food that bad we never even a coffee.

Stayed overnight at nearby Travelodge and didnt want to drive to eat. Great restaurant with lovely and efficient staff. Food very good especially the pizza. Reasonably priced. Would strongly recommend if find yourself in the area.

After my scathing review from October 2021, I must say Chianti is back as one of our favourite lunch venues in the Falkirk area. Three very good courses for £18.95. Good quality, big portions, good service, great value. We'll be back before too long.

Visited here yesterday with some friends from Edinburgh. Even though the restaurant was quiet we were made very welcome from the minute we arrived. We all had from the lunch menu, either 2 or 3 courses were available. We chose for starters, - minestrone soup, bruschetta with wild mushrooms and cheese, and calamari. Main courses were - carbonara, sea bass, and chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce. All beautiful and adequate portions, esp the carbonara. Would most certainly recommend here

Wow. Long time since we’ve been here and often forget about it. Never again. What a great meal and service. The waiting staff have been trained to a very high standard and it is so noticeable compared to other restaurants. So attentive but not overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious, great value and big portions. Will definitely return.

Found ourselves in Falkirk on business and was recommended this gorgeous Italian restaurant. The food was amazing. My friend had Pollo e Crema which was chicken in a mushroom sauce. I had the Carbonara. These mains were preceded by Calimari and Foccacia ai prosciutto. The foccacia was the size of a standard pizza. Very reasonably priced for the portion sizes. Absolutely recommend this place hands down. They were more than happy to box up what we couldn't manage. Fabulous experience.

Fantastic night,food was delicious and very fresh, staff very attentive all working really hard, it was Hogmanay and the place was full and had a really good vibe, the entertainment was superb, very reasonably priced too, first time there so glad we went, we will be back.

Chianti has always been one of my faves, so I suggested it for a friend’s 50th birthday lunch. Suddenly, some of our party highlighted to recent bad reviews, but agreed to keep the booking. It was wonderful. As always, great decor & vibe - no change there. However, the food and service were top notch, as it had always been. I spoke with the Manager, who said there had been a blip, but I can assure you it’s all sorted. So don’t be put off by reviews from earlier in the year - the wonderful Chianti is back! Large portions, reasonably priced and great choices. Each one of us wanted a change to the meal on the Menu, some wanted no chicken, others wanted a change of pasta, or extra garlic or no wine in a sauce. This was done with a smile. Nothing was too much for them. Can’t wait to go back!

First visit for a few years but it will also be the last. Lovely restaurant, lovely music, shame about the food and the temperature. Starters of Caprese salad - mozzarella surrounded by tomato slices and ONE basil leaf on top. The mozzarella was too cold and therefore too firm. Main courses were Rigatoni Toscana described as: Rigatoni pasta with fresh italian sausage, wild mushrooms, sundried tomato and a touch of cream. In reality it was rigatoni in a watery cream sauce with lots of mushrooms, two tiny peices of bland sun dried tomatoes and I never found the sausage! When I told the waiter what was wrong he apologised then came back a few minutes later offering to do it again with more sausage - I turned down that offer since I had had more than enough. We also had a garlic and rosemary focacccia which was nice for a couple of minutes then became extrelmly tough as it cooled. We didn't risk a dessert or coffee . The music was good but even the musician had to put his jacket on .....there was no heating, Even in the toilet the "hot" water didn't get aabove icy cold. We were only charged for one pasta but as I told the waiter I would have much preferred to pay full price in exchange for a good meal.

Lovely fresh food, great service, very reasonable prices, and live music. Excellent homemade desserts. Loved it, would definitely go back.

Miserable staff, average food. Not really much more to say. A place I have enjoyed in the past with my mother and family. Sadly this visit we be our last, but I can’t imagine the staff will be losing any sleep over that.

Hadn’t visited for a while but had always enjoyed it so we were really looking forward to our meal. We were a few minutes late but the table wasn’t ready anyway and we ended up being shown to our table 20 minutes after the booked time with next to no apology. No one came near us for around 10-15 minutes to take a drink or food order and we were contemplating leaving at that point anyway because there was next to no vegetarian choice on the menu - I was told that they were in the process of upgrading their menu but that I could have any meaty pasta dish minus the meat! The food when it came was fairly bland. The garlic bread didn’t arrive at all and was unceremoniously dumped on the table with no apology about 5-10 minutes later. There was no salt or pepper on the table so we had to wait until a waitress came near to ask for them. No flowers in bud vases/candles on the tables either, or drinks lists. Just napkins and cutlery! That might seem petty but table decor is a normal part of a nice dining experience in my opinion. For around 15 minutes after finishing our meal no one came near to clear away our plates. Eventually a waitress walking past asked if we’d “like them taken away” like she was doing us a favour. We asked her for a dessert menu and she brought it over then did not return to see if we wanted anything. We waited another 10-15 minutes then gave up and had to get someone’s attention to ask for the bill. We complained about the poor service and were given 10% off the bill but that will not persuade us to return. In their defence it was a busy Saturday night but by the time we were waiting to have our sweet order taken the place had quietened down a bit and we observed staff standing around chatting, and one staff member looking at his phone. Probably our most disappointing dining experience in a long time.

On you arrive, there is not bady look like you are arrive on the restourant,there are more interesting to smoke the cigarette or stay on the phone, ..👍👍the toilet dirty and baby chairs evrywhere,,like not bady realy care, but the best is the food….😅😅😅it’s look old 70^ with the old cra….mpy chef on the kitchen…we order same salmone and pollo funghi , absolutely disgusting…look like pre cooking and re eat on the macreway..but as usualy no bady around to complain or ask more drink cuz all ov them there are busy on the phone in the bar.. well done guys⭐️⭐️⭐️..but before I finisch up … remember as a customer Never Ever leave the tips here …cuz they get stell from the manager and shere with the cra…mpy chef in the kitchen.. and the coins thei get leave for the rest of the young girls….Discusting…👏👏👏👏 Learne the way to leave and then all of you can start to ran a restourant…..🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

After getting off to a good enough start, it quickly went downhill after our main course being flung at us. We were then ignored for 40 minutes, what should have been a special occasion became a disappointment. No dessert or coffee was offered. We almost had to beg for our guests to be offered drinks. Understaffed and not suited to larger groups.

We have eaten here several times and really enjoyed our meal, however not so much this time. My son found an old napkin and mint under his seat and despite being empty our table wasn't ready for us. The table cover needed a good iron. We were asked what we wanted to drink without being given a drinks menu. The menu was torn and very messy. Pate was served with one oatcake and the bread of my bruscetta was clearly not fresh. Some of the meal was just alright but most was pretty bland. My risotto was not creamy, it was quite watery and was served on a flat plate and not a bowl. It cost £161 for hhe family meal and it just wasn't worth it. I wished we'd gone elsewhere to celebrate my husband's birthday.

Came in for dinner Saturday past. We had not made a reservation and the restaurant looked incredibly busy but the staff assured us they could find us a table. We were seated promptly and service was quick and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The food was lovely, generous portions and well presented. When the bill arrived I was pleasantly surprised as it is not at all expensive but the quality is fantastic. The restaurant itself is great, very comfortable, clean and well styled. We look forward to returning when we come back to visit family in Scotland.

This used to be our favourite restaurant in Falkirk District, but not anymore. My wife and I recently visited for lunch and chose off their set lunch menu. Service was reasonable with the two young women serving the tables doing a grand job but there seem to be some confusion in the kitchen with our order and other costumers orders so it took a bit longer than we would want for the food to come to the table. We felt the mussels for starter could've been fresher. They weren't off but they were getting there. Portion size was ok but the sauce was bland. My wife had the fish and I had the pork for mains. Both portions were tiny including a scarcity of side veg, but worse than that the meat and fish were both dry and tasteless. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert was good, but the damage was done by then and you don't go to an Italian restaurant for sticky toffee pudding do you? We came away feeling very disappointed with the meal and I'm no glutton but I was a bit peckish 30 minutes later. We might have said something when we came away but the staff behind the desk were yakking away to themselves, clearly not interested in the customer experience.We often previously went to Chianti for their Festive Menu but we will be going elsewhere this year unless their standards improve dramatically and quickly, and that shows in reviews here and elsewhere.

Popped in to the restaurant one evening this week. Staff were more than happy to seat us even though we hadn’t booked and couldn’t be more attentive. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere as always. We had the soup and bruschetta to start. Portion sizes were good. Had spaghetti bolognese and a diavola pizza for mains. Has to be one of the nicest ragu’s in Falkirk. The pizza was equally as nice, a lovely authentic stonebaked base and generous with sauce and toppings. We didn’t have room for dessert but the table next to us did and they looked unbelievable. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Nice ambiance & restaurant looks nice to be fair . Food very average. Had scallops & king prawns for starter which I had to send back . They were stone cold ( rather shocked ) Don’t think I would return

First and very last I will ever be back. Food was poor, nothing authentic about microwaved lasagne. Portions are very small and honestly the quality was shocking. Bruchetta one slice, lasagne microwaved. Absolutely shocking. Ladies toilets blocked, which I complained about only 1 out of 3 actually worked. Very poor, don't waste your money.

Fantastic food with excellent service. I rang last minute and they told me straight that they close in 10 minutes. So need to hurry. It was no trouble and they let me order.Really can’t fault the food or service. I wanted dessert but the main dish was so bog that I was full.

Nice restaurant, good ambience, staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Starter and main course were fine and the dessert, white cocolate mousse with raspberry, was excellent. The portion sizes, however, were disappointingly small and for this reason I won’t rush back.

This restaurant used to be a favourite for us. However on this visit for lunch midweek the service was not up to standard. Starters were served fairly quickly but it was an hour after entering the restaurant when our main courses arrived. As far as we could see it was the same for everyone else. Food was not as we remember it either. Pork fillet was dry and the pasta dish did not have that authentic Italian taste. We won't be back in a hurry.

Booked this place purely on the strength of the reviews. When we arrived though, we had low expectations because of the location; stuck in the middle of nowhere and next to a Premier Inn (or maybe a Travelodge, can't remember which!). Anyway, going into the restaurant raised our hopes again as it's really nicely done.Anyway, we needn't have worried. The food was absolutely superb and was matched by the service. It really was a great experience and very good value for money as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the vicinity.

Visited with family, asked if they had a table available and received a loud, disappointed sigh. Were rushed through, starred at and left feeling very uncomfortable. Had an extremely uncomfortable interaction over ID (I understand they have to ask) but was made to feel embarrassed and like a child (24 years of age, eating with all-adult-family) and couldn’t get out quick enough. Rude service, awful food. Wouldn’t care about not having a drink at all, but it was the way it was handled. Incredibly annoying owner/chef? Wandering around interrupting your meal several times. Absolutely would not recommend, awful start to our holiday.

I don't think I - or the other four people I was with - have ever been made to feel more uncomfortable and unwelcome in a restaurant. If you're looking for a short review: the staff was rude and standoffish, the food was bland and overpriced and we felt incredibly uncomfortable the whole time. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. To start the longer review, we first asked for a table. When we said that we hadn't already made a booking, one of the staff rolled her eyes and sighed at us and walked away. This was while the restaurant was almost completely empty. This was only a taste of what was to come. We sat down and were told right away that the table we were at was going to be needed in two hours. Not a problem, we're usually quick and knew that this wouldn't be an issue.Next, we asked for drinks. My girlfriend, who is 25, asked for a cider. This was fine with the waiting staff until they brought the drinks over and, with the drink in front of her on the tray, asked her for ID. Because this meal was a treat for her, she didn't need to take her purse with her ID in it. But the staff were really awkward and quite rude about not giving her a drink. Even a picture of her passport photo wasn't good enough. This made her, someone who already has social anxiety, feel really awkward and embarrassed.After that mess, we couldn't help but notice that three members of staff were stood at the back of the restaurant looking right at us. We felt very uncomfortable and like we were being elbowed out of the restaurant as soon as possible. One particular member of the waiting staff did about four or five walks round our table - almost like they were keeping an eye on us.When the food arrived, the portion sizes were abysmal. Tiny. It was supposed to be a main course, but looked like a starter and tasted more bland than cardboard. Two of us had pasta with chicken and sauce which was plain and bland, two of us had carbonara, which was also tiny and bland. And one of us had a tomato pasta which tasted like a Tesco Meal Deal - but was also far too spicy to enjoy. In summary, this place was possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to and I would warn people not to touch it with a barge pole.

I was surprised to find such a nice restaurant in this location. The staff were welcoming and the place had a good atmosphere. After a week of Scottish breakfasts, we were full and wanted a relatively light meal. Rory was really helpful and attentive We shared some pasta and pizza with two glasses of wine for £33. I thought it was good value and somewhere I would come back to. Highly recommended.

Had prawn cocktails to start with, had to send back due to prawns tasting like they were off! To be fair to the restaurant, they took these off the bill. But the mains were awful. Chicken in a mushroom sauce…. Literally as thick as a 1p coin and tasteless! 3 new potatoes and some broccoli…, £16! What a joke. Partner had fillet steak and it came with 4 new potatoes and a shed load of broccoli to fill the plate. He asked for no broccoli as he’s allergic. When this was pointed out that he asked for no broccoli, the plate was taken away and just had the broccoli taken off. So a tiny fillet steak and 4 new potatoes cost £26! Plus £2.50 for the peppercorn sauce. So 30 quid for a tiny meal, that wasn’t enjoyed. After our initial complaint with the starters we just decided to accept our mains and get the bill. Just awful service, awful food. Won’t return and will definitely not recommend to anyone. Go to another Italian in Falkirk or get the train to Glasgow for a much better meal!
