We have ordered from here a couple of times and the food was fine. However we had an overpriced crispy chilli beef this evening that was almost inedible. I phoned but the manager didn’t want to know. Sorry Chi Nar Garden but rubbish customer service.

We have visited this place many many time and never had a bad meal. The meals are alway lovely and attentive although not overly, which is good. Since we have been going here some 19=20 yrs, maybe more the decor hasnt changed. It was ok then but looking a bit dated now. The problem we have now is my husband is disabled and unfortunately cant manage the stairs. Maybe if they invested in a stairlift operated by them it might solve the problem Unfortunately, until we can get him up the stairs, we cant visit which is a pity.

Lovely food as always so tasty, the staff are super friendly and great with children. A bit upset the prices have gone up but wouldn't deter is all the same. Thankyou for being great.

Always a pleasure visiting this place. There’s no airs and graces and you feel welcomed by the staff. Good food at a good price.

New Year's Eve this year was fairly limited. But we still wanted to treat. Sadly this was no treat, the food was dreadful full of hard big lumps of onions the MSG was the size of a mountain and we were thirsty all night. We waited over an hour once we arrived at the restaurant for takeaway. Would never recommend or go to this place again.

The people are lovely. The food is so tasty. Best Chinese in the area. Yes the decor could be improved but it’s clean and tidy. Staff can’t do enough for you.

7 of us decided to eat here. They have al a carte menu or several choices of set menus all at good prices. The food we ordered was freshly prepared and was quickly served. Friendly staff. Because the restaurant is upstairs it is not suitable for the disabled. Parking for about 20 cars. We enjoyed the food and our visit.

the chinah garden doesnt open till 5pm now and is closed on tuesdays, we went today and as expected we were not disappointed, met at the door shown to our table, made welcome, ordered drinks shown menu, we both chose chcken and sweet corn soup to start followed by chicken chow mein with the usual prawn crackers, we followed up with a dessert in my case mango pieces in ice cream and mango sauce, everything was gorgeous the ambience of the dining area is very pleasant as are all the the staff, we have been here before we enjoyed today and we will go back again,,t he service was bang on, its located at hale bank nr widnes on hale road close to pickerings pasture

Went here for a birthday meal with family. I had never been before despite living around the corner. We will definitely be returning. The food was really good , we had the set buffet there was plenty. Everyone enjoyed it. The staff do a great job very polite and helpful and brilliant with the kids.

Visited this evening with 2 friends. We had telephoned earlier to book a table but on arrival we were told that on a Monday evening it does not get busy. We ordered the £15 per head banquet. The service was excellent and we did not have to wait long before the first course arrived. Throughout the evening Tristan (the waiter) was very polite and friendly. My friend and I both asked for a glass of tap water and when Tristan brought it to us we were pleasantly surprised to see that a slice of lemon had been added which was a nice touch. The food was lovely and Tristan even asked us if we wanted a break between courses which again was a nice touch as it made us feel that we were not being rushed. As part of the banquet they serve ice cream as the dessert and whilst we were expecting cheap tasting ice cream this was not the case. We all felt that the restaurant is not advertised enough in the town as it is a hidden gem and is well worth a visit.

The food was nice, the special fried rice had more ‘special’ than actual rice. The waitress was a little rude, it wasn’t busy she remained at the bar paying no attention to the 3 customers in there. I finished my drink after the first course of the banquet, nobody asked if we would like another. We waited 5 minutes for the main, had to get up and walk over to get the waitress’ attention to chase up the main which took another 5 minutes. Then had to get up to go pay the bill. A lot of waiting round and chasing things up when the place was empty ruined the food.

we visit the china garden as it almost on our doorstep. but besides that we have always been more than satisfied with both the service, quality of the meal, the attitude of the staff and the ambience of the restaurant, we are greeted in a really friendly manner by everyone and they are so willing to tend to your needs, we will go again, and we will look forwards to another really pleasant meal

The staff and management could not have been any nicer food was fantastic there were 25 of us and we were all served together no fuss nothing was too much for staff highly recommend this restaurant.

We used to frequent this restaurant years ago, as a couple, family and with friends and to be honest cant tell you why we stopped going because it's still gorgeous.The last time we ate out was in Liverpool just before Christmas and I was fed up cooking morning, noon and night so I made a stand we're going out. I wasnt bothered where we went but my husband suggested here and I never turn down a Chinese.There wasnt many people in here but it was early midweek. The staff couldn't do enough for you, really attentive but not over the top. We chose the dearest set menu but changed the soup to Hot and Sour, omg! Everything else was to menu and was gorgeous, my husband couldn't finish his so got a doggy bag to take home. All in all, cant see why we stopped but will deffo be using again.BTW, the best bit is they do a delivery service now £2/3 delivery with a minimum of £10 order but atm it is cash only on the deliveries.We'll be back@

The food is tasty and cheap. You will receive above average service as they mainly hire younger people who are quite nervous however they are well mannered and mean well. The decor is outdated however the food is so cheap that you expect this. Overall an above average experience worth 4/5 stars I would definetly come here again due to the taste and price.Ignore the 1 star reviews as I have eaten here on over 5 occasions and never had an issue

We used to eat here a lot when our children were younger and hadn't been back in a long time. We were deciding where to go to have some Chinese food as had had some disappointing meals in various Chinese restaurants (including some of the supposedly up market ones), and we thought why not go back and see if the food in this place was still good. I have to say that from the outside this restaurant hardly looks appealing and the decor is the same as it has been for a long time, BUT they are the only negatives. We arrived a little before they were opening, but the gentleman who was there cheerfully welcomed us in. We ordered from the early evening menu and EVERYTHING we had was absolutely delicious! We both love hot and sour soup and can honestly say, this was the nicest we have ever had.The staff here are so friendly and it is great value for money. Will be definitely be coming here more regularly once again.

We went the other night as regulars for the early menu, but thought we’d see the difference in the main banquet, it was £2 each more, but that included prawn crackers which we normally pay extra for on the early menu anyway, so it was like only an extra £1 each in the end. Well worth it!

We had a take away from here for 1st time tonight, food was really good. Tasted fresh and was piping hot when it arrived. Delivery time was 40 minutes and arrived after half hr. wouldn’t use delivery service again as quite steep but would definitely order again for collection or eat in the restaurant.

Do not be put off by the look of the building. We went for the first time and were not disappointed. We were first in the restaurant but the place quickly filled up. We had the early diner set meal, which offers a great variety of meals.

We enjoyed excellent food which was hot and tasty , the service was prompt and very friendly. We probably won't go again sadly because we live 260 miles away .

5 of us went for a family meal, service was excellent, staff were polite, very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely- best won ton soup in the area, and the value for money is fantastic! We had the early evening special menu which can be adapted to meet any requirements - definitely worth a visit. We will be back!

Overall, I would say this place is a little gem amongst the rocks, to put it lightly. The food is typically British Cantonese style, but it is nice and satisfying - what you would hope for. What I will say about this place though, is the staff are remarkable. You are very warmly welcomed in to this place and you can genuinely feel a sense of 'community' inside the place. The manager(Chinese guy with the glasses) is exceedingly polite and exquisitely friendly. His service is remarkable and I always feel very at ease here. At times the service may be a little slow during busy time, yes, but isn't everywhere the same? However, it totally worth it because visiting this restaurant is such a pleasant experience. After all, isn't that why we go to eat out?

I went for a meal here on the 1st of January 2018. The food came within minutes it was cold and appeared like it had been sat there all day. The drinks were poured out of a bottle and were flat. As we were eating our meal a large rat ran across the floor! When we told the staff they told us they already knew about the problem and they were going to get people in. They were going to charge us for the meal it wasn’t till I said we shouldn’t be paying because it’s disgusting. Do not eat here!

Situated in the Halebank area of Widnes, Chi Nar Garden serves good food at a good price.

Went for a 60th birthday, food was good but found the drinks expensive. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Just ordered 2 separate banquet meals the food was burnt cold no flavour I would not advise anybody to go to this restaurant the foods is not fit for human consumption also I would consider this food only to be suitable for a pig trough I will not be eating from here again now I no why it is closed down for time to time I now have stomach ache don't go this place it's horrible

Very friendly with reasonable food for those on a budget .. a nice meal out and very good service, staff were excellent.

We have used Chi Nar for a long time and have never been disappointed. Tristan and the Chi Nar staff are superb. They have overcome a difficult transition but are heading in the right direction. It is such good value for money. I would recommend everyone to give it another try. I don't think you will be disappointed

Si buscas un restaurante chino fabuloso en Widnes prueba Chi Nar jardines. La comida era precioso y abundante. Usted no estaban esperando las edades y fue servido por un personal amable. La decoración un poco anticuadas, pero la verdad es que la comida lo compensa. Volveremos.

Cuando tenemos una celebración familiar que a menudo vienen aquí como es cómodo, acogedor y buena relación calidad-precio. Visitamos recientemente por el cumpleaños de mi madre y la comida era tan buena como siempre, y a mi madre un regalo al final de la comida que me pareció precioso. Si buscas un lugar sin lujos, comida decente, sin romper la hucha recomendaría este lugar.

Precioso bienvenidos por el personal, una buena selección de comida en el buffet, que era caliente y bien abastecido. El personal era realmente servicial, trajo alimentos frescos a petición, gran relación calidad-precio tanto sabor y precio. Recomiendo una visita. Nota: sólo los domingos.

Used to be a relatively good chinese but last 2 visits have been disappointing. I ordered chilli & garlic chicken but was utterly tasteless, my partner had satay and that was only marginally better with a hint of a curry taste. Will not be returning.

Visited China Gardens last night and can only ask "Whatever has happened to this once nice Restaurant" we didn't recognise one member of staff so assumed they had changed Management. Waited ages for the 1st course then only one starter arrived instead of two, after waiting again for sometime the main courses arrived, one meal without any vegetables, plate was taken away by waitress and returned with three small mushrooms which must have been cooked in water instead of fried and they were disgusting and on top of that the meal was cold, the other main course consisted of thick dark orange curry which inedible, after complaining we we're offered just 20% off the bill which isn't good enough. We will definitely not be visiting China Gardens in the future.

WE both had really nice hot and sour soup. We had a number of starters to choose from i chose ribs and they were a bit dry. and the wife had spring rolls that were ok.I had chicken curry and the wife had sweet and sour chicken. both nice a decent portion

Waited an hour for our first course. Chicken and sweetcorn soup which was so thick it could hang wallpaper. The main courses where cold on cold plates and the service from the tattoo'd waitress was aggressive and unfriendly. Avoid at all costs.

A party of 6 went here for my father's birthday meal. Four of the party ordered the banquet and after 50 minutes without any food being delivered to our table we asked how long the food would be. We were then given given four bowls on inedable chicken and sweetcorn soup by a ill-mannered waitress. After we the waiting for another 20 mins for the next part of our banquet, we ended up just asking for everything to be brought out at once. Our mains were then brought out, but the other members of our party were obviously an afterthought. After we had all finished our mains, of which mine had a hair in, we then had to ask for the rest our starters. Also we were never asked to replenish our drinks during the course of dining and we always had to ask, which then took an average of 15 mins to arrive at the table. If I could give less than 1 out of 5, i would. We didn't even stay for the desert part of the banquet. We did get a discount, but it did not make up for a ruined celebration.

Seated quickly, staff friendly enough at the Chi Nar Garden.Order taken promptly for both drinks & food.Drinks order came quickly, food within reasonable time frame.Food hot and ok, not bad but certainly not great.Unsure if we would go again, unless you go into the Centre of Widnes there isn'ttoo much for eating on the outskirts. There are huge parking signs warning of clamping and fee's , this may put us off even though it advises ok for patrons.I wish there was a rating between average and very good, as they were above average, but not reaching very good, I have marked very good.

Went here as part of a work team celebration type evening. Staff were lovely, very polite, helpful. The food was ok, Very reasonably priced, lots of it, decent little no frills restaurant that I may visit again, but not in a hurry.

Seriously what happened to this lovely restaurant menu cut in half and cold food served .I've been coming here since it opened so I'm not really going to knock it we all have bad days but seriously the delivery driver serving food

We came here on a Saturday night with the family and really enjoyed our experience. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent (I would recommend the curry in particular). Highly recommended to anyone in the area looking for good food at an affordable price in a friendly environment!

Went with my friends and was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff! The restaurant was clean and tidy. The service was very quick but very friendly too. I thought that the food was very delicious and will definitely return again! High recommended; it's a 5 star rating from me!

I came here on a Thursday night first of all when we come in the man said that it was under new management so we said ok then he said cash only fine we sat down and he said we don't do curry sauce what Chinese restaurant does not doe CURRY are food came it was totally tasteless the whole restaurant was grubby DONT COME HERE

Been here twice in the past few weeks with my partner, best time to go about 8ish. very welcoming on arrival shown to a table quickly. staff are really friendly and food is excellent, arrives fast and is piping hot.highly recomend

Had a buffet offer for 9.95 not visited before was across from hotel/pub l stayed in very pleasent clean excellant service a bit of the town centre but early buffet offers up to 1930hrs good family values no lift steepish stairs so worth ringing up for them to advise .

We ate quite early around 6.30pm , the Chi Nr Garden is just before you get to Pickering Pasture on the Main Road. The place was clean and we were seated straight away, a few minutes to take the drinks order but that was fine.The food was ok and quick to come out, the place wasn't too busy , the staff were quick, polite and friendly.The prices are reasonable and the toilets clean and ok.I don't know what the place would be like if full, there wasn't anything we could complain about when we went and we may try it again.

Booked a table for two, we arrived 10minutes prior to our booking time, when we got thier we found the staircase jam packed with waiting guests. Eventually we got our table our order was taken, we waited and waited, the food arrived cold, awful, we had ordered the banquet we gave up when the main course arrived and the lemon chicken was frozen!!! We did complain they discounted the bill by £5 !!! It was a total nightmare, the place was packed, full of people drunk with young children who where either running riot around the Restraunt or screaming thier heads off. In fairness we've been many times and had a good meal, this rates one of the worst meals we've ever had. If the Restraunt had dealt with our complaint properly I'd have been happier but to deduct just £5 for a terrible meal and service was disgraceful.

Went to the chi nar garden for Father's Day when we got there it was only half full asked for a table for two and the owner went to check he said he could squeeze us in we thought that was a good sign if it was fully booked.shownto are table and given the menus my menu was sticky with old food on it. We both ordered hot and sour soup which was very nice ribs and main course a bit bland when we finished I asked for the bill and the waiter asked could I go to the bar and get it myself as he was very busy he was very busy but come on.dont think we will be going back.

Went here for lunch, 1st impressions not a very warm welcome, basic menu fairly priced for small portions, my wife said the Chicken Chow mein was excellent, my Chicken curry came as Beef curry couldn't be bothered sending it back, wish I had, curry was fine, beef was awful. Pineapple fritter was spot on.To be fair with a small amount of effort it could be a very nice place to visit, but got to say overall it's average.

Lovely starters and not bad mains. It's £9.95 for soup, chicken wings, ribs and spring rolls, then the usual mains with rice or chips, then ice cream. The ice cream is rubbish as its like asdas smart price, but it's still worth the money for the early banquet.

Rather dissapointed with the service in this place,it has gone so far down hill over the past year,constant arguments between staff and one member of staff (the boss' wife I think) appears to be very rude and constantly watches you whilst you eat causing you to feel very uncomfortable, the beer is also often flat and of poor quality as it is always poured from a can which has probably been left there. Would not return.

Went on Saturday for an early banquet - we used to go frequently until a year ago when we moved away from the area and I wish we hadn't bothered. The staff were different so obviously management have changed and we walked into an argument among 2 members of staff about a drinks order, with further entertainment from other arguments throughout our meal. Decided on the early diner buffet - don't even attempt to ask to substitute anything on the menu - it's a take it or leave it with no changes allowed. The food rated 6/10. The main course delivered was not to order and took a really long time to replace, and they just lost interest by the time dessert was due so it never arrived. We ended up missing 2 courses, one because they refused to substitute anything to replace the soup (which they attempted to give us and we were relieved to send back as unwanted because it looked disgusting) and the missing ice cream dessert that never materialised. And that was the most expensive set menu option available. Just awful service. Never again. Such a shame it's gone so far downhill.

Don't bother getting a takeaway it is awful and a waste of money it used to be lovely but not any more. mine went in the bin and don't get chinease mushroom Ther just 3 button mushrooms cut in half just don't even waste your time and about as warm as a frozen pea

Lots of dishes to choose from, once you have made it up the stairs. No lift, not much of a view ethier. Some of the dishes had a skin on top of them with no soup or prawn cracks on offer. But for the price resonsble value for money. Would I go again, not on a Sunday afternoon atleast.

My family and I come here at least once a week for the dayte menu for the past 15 years and can honestly say this is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants and we have visited many here in the uk and abroad. The chicken chow mein is gorgeous. 3 course for £5.95 including a drink is excellent value. Defo recommend.

We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasion's not the nicest view and above a social club but the food is very tasty and excellent value, especially if you catch the early evening menu.The restaurant open's around 5pm so I would suggest that you try to arrive before 6pm as it can get busy. Service is quick, staff are friendly and they also have a lot of customers arriving for takeaways.

This restaurant was recommended to us lately apparently it had been taken over by new management so we decided to pay a visit last night, my husband ordered ribs they were small and very dry, I ordered Satay chicken skewers, to be honest not very tasty at all, my husband ordered fillet of beef, he was asked how he would like the beef cooked he told the waiter medium rare I ordered King Prawn in Oyster sauce both had fried rice, my husband took one bite out of the beef it was disgusting taste and texture, he couldn't eat it and left the rest, my prawns were tasteless as was the oyster sauce the fried rice was warm and very dry the waiter came to remove the dishes and mentioned the left beef, my husband explained about the taste and texture, so the manager was called over, he made excuses about the way the beef was cooked, it was nothing to do with the cooking it was the produce they bought in No apology was given, £47 for a load of rubbish, décor dated.

I have visited this restaurant many times and never had an issue - we normally get the buffet where you get soup, ribs, wings and spring rolls next your main with either rice or chips and the ice cream all the portions are generous and i must admit its very rare i have room for ice cream. the staff are friendly and are very quick. The decor is slightly dated and the drink choices are limited however i have never been disappointed.

Visited chi nar garden for their Sunday buffet. Plenty of dishes available. Pity they all tasted same. Staff very anti social. One male member of staff spent the whole time we were there patrolling our table and staring at us whilst we ate which was very uncomfortable. Even the restaurant itself isn't very nice, the decor is very dated. Won't be visiting again.

We have eaten in many Chinese restaurant in Liverpool, Widnes & Manchester and I would say this one is by far the best. You get plenty for your money and the duck, beef & chicken is good quality. I would also say the price is very reasonable considering the quality of food. I would recommend the chicken in special sauce, that is divine! Great place for a god meal!

Chi Nar garder Chinese restaurant is the top recomend for everyone. The food is cheap, and big amount. It is good for family party. The place is very wide and clean. We did have birthday party in. There are few special offers: at first, they do buffet in the Sunday afternoon (12:00--2:30), £5.95 per person, children half price. the second one, they do early door sit-down banquet between 5 pm and 7:30pm (Monday to Sunday , except for Friday & Saturday are between 5pm and 7pm). The early door banquets are £9.95, £10.95, £11.95; finally, the do home delivery as well in the evening.
