Cherry Tree Farm - Farmhouse Inns in South Derbyshire

Not been for a while and was pleasantly surprised at the much improved efficiency, especially the speed of service. Beef and Ale pie was cracking with the addition of onion gravy. Bar service superb and I even heard a barmaid asking if anyone was waiting to be served!!! Keep it up Chris and Katie and team. Will now return more often.✅✅

Great carvery and superb large play station for kids.Cakes looked massive and delicious. Good variety on menu . Atmosphere was cosy and comforting, would definitely recommend!

One of the best, most reasonable places around. The staff are such friendly people, and the atmosphere is good. Definitely worth a visit. We always leave full and ridiculously happy.

Called in with friends. Ordered 2 scrambled eggs on toast and 2 Cappuccinos. Received the drinks quickly enough although they were luke warm and didn't get the breakfasts for at least 40 minutes.

Food is always lovely here, but this time I went for a carvery there was no Yorkshire puddings or turkey left and I was there at two in the afternoon so not like it was really late to the point they run out.

Decor and furniture's all very tired. But the staff were lovely and welcoming.

When I entered, I was given a table rather quickly. However, there was slimey fish all over the floor, which my shoe inevitably trod in. We asked for H₂O and it arrived quickly, but it tasted like sweatshop water. The reserved table card was the default PowerPoint font, which shows the opposite of effort. Food arrived OK, and it tasted alright. However, I was very sick the next day. Onion rings got the extra star as they were nice. I would go to the subway opposite next time.

My daughter booked for her birthday. There were 9 of us. It was very busy when we arrived at 6.50pm. We were shown to our table by the hostess and she explained what to do. We tried to order on the app but it wouldn’t connect so daughter did it for 4 of us. Both her aunties had to order at the bar. So our 1 table had 3 orders but all for the same table. There were no cauliflower wings available which was very disappointing. We were offered alternatives. Our 4 starters turned up. Half an hour later no other starters had arrived. I went up to enquire and was told it was because we’d ordered separately and she’d chase them up. 1 then turned up 15 minutes later but no sign of the other 2. The pub was near enough empty by now and no one clearing tables. Then our 4 main courses came and were informed the starters would come with the mains. Which they did at just after 8.30pm. I didn’t get a ticket for the carvery and was told she’d have a word with Tim. By the time we got our carvery there wasn’t much left and there was only 2 meats. There was mash potatoes on the floor which I nearly slipped on. It had apparently been there since we got there. I didn’t get my pigs in blankets that I’d paid extra for and the Yorkshire pudding was inedible. Things on the others mains were cold. And we’re still sitting in amongst everyone else’s dirty dishes. No one asked if every thing was okay and we didn’t see a single member of staff. We all wanted pudding but it was around 9.30pm by now and we all just wanted to go and didn’t want to wait another hour. I bought a cake in for my 27 year old daughters birthday and I had to chase this up. 20 minutes later a waitress bought it with candles at 72!!! We were not at all impressed and worse we were disappointed. Some of the staff were lovely but even so it was not a good experience. Our first time and more than likely our last.

We were a party of 16, when arrived we were put on 2 separate tables, when I asked to see the manager, I was told she was out having a smoke and wouldn't speak to me!.The wait for food was a long time over 50 minutes, we queued at the bar for over 40 minutes to get drinks. There was food all over the floor, only 3 puddings were left, no cake at all. It was very evident that they were very understaffed.

I have been to the cherry tree a few times over the years and initially it was amazing for carvery. Now I feel its gone down hill and the quality of food is not what it once was. I would probably go again but I am not rushing out the door for it.

Thought this looked more fun than the services near by but were very disappointed by the quality of the food. I chose the sirloin steak thinking this would be a good option but only managed about two mouthfuls due to all the fat and sinew. My husband chose the gammon, which was passable but slightly overcooked and little flavour. I would not choose to eat there again

I went for Sunday lunch about 1pm on 2nd March for 5 people cost 78 pounds for lunch and drinks. Deserts paid separately. I was not impressed. I know there was problems with the WiFi and payments. But tables not cleared and not enough staff behind the bar. The carvery was nothing like it used to be. The meat was not nice blood veins through the turkey the meats were fatty. I can to ask for more cauliflower cheese and cranberry sauce. The gravy needed replacing. There didn't seem as much choice. Very disappointed and all our party said the same

What a shame had heard so much good about The Cherry Tree really so looked forward to seeing the place. Upon arrival (3pm Sunday 23rd) really looking forward to a roast ..I dont think it was fertilizer but the smell outside ( stale fish) was pretry off putting from the start...I appreciate later in the day and new "stock" needs to come out but roasts looked "tired" and only remnants of meats left veg pale and uninteresting...Queues everywhere only appeared to be two staff behind bar and waitressing staff a couple working hard and certainly no sense of urgency from anybody else.. Decided on fish and chips VERY expensive for the MEESLEY portions served and wasn't even particually hot albeit in fairness the fish appeared to have been cooked from fresh..Perhaps it was a bad day but my friend spoke to several people waiting to pay..order puddings etc and many were saying how the place had "really gone down " one lady was saying she was giving it a second chance as week before had been so disappointed with her roast and cold vegetables along with the "stale" cream on her cake..(Bearsay I know but important you are made aware ).From my experience and having worked in hospitality I personally will not be returning nor will my friend ..albeit thats only TWO lost customers competition is tough and value for money paramount..your very impressive play area may keep you afloat for longer than places without for a while BUT dont get complacent its the slippery slope.....I have been to other places thier standards have been way higher and have been consistantly good not to mention being much better value for money AND as busy if not busier than you were on Sunday...What's going on Cherry Tree ? It's a shame.

4 people in our group. 2 ordered of the menu and told 30 minutes to wait. The other 2 qued for 35 minutes for carvery, it was obvious they were short of staff. 1 asked for scampi and told we don't have any.

The Cherry Tree used to be known as the best in Derby for a carvery. Today, I was horrified by how far down hill it has gone! As soon as we walked in it was carnage and it didn't get any better. The front of house ignored us for a good while before finally looking up at us and then she walked off without a word and didn't come back. Other staff members looked at us with blank expressions on their faces, before a young lady came over, also with a blank expression and she hadn't a clue what she was doing. We were a party of 6 and 2 of our party had already arrived. The young lady seated us at a different table on the other side of the pub, so we went and found our party ourselves and sat down. We were seated by the children's play area, amongst a sea of filthy tables that hadn't been seen to in the 20mins our party members had been there. We were there for a total of 1.5 hours and those table never did get seen to. There was food and napkins all over the floor and I had to re wipe our table as there was still gravy all over it. When we went to order drinks at the bar, there was one staff member working it- on a busy Sunday afternoon? She was clearly under pressure and it showed when she rudely shouted at guests to line somewhere else if they were ordering food. The food was disappointing, the roast potatoes were dry and stale. There was dregs of veg left and god knows how long it'd be there as it looked withered, so we didn't have any veg on our plates, at a carvery. My farther in-law and partner had a large plate, my father in-law was offered pigs in blankets, my partner asked for some but was refused, and when he'd asked why his dad got some, the server just looked at him and shrugged. Awful food, awful service, in a dirty filthy pub. I'm embarrassed that I'd even recommended it to my in-laws, won't ever eat nor recommend there again.

4 of us went for Carvery. It was absolutely gorgeous.

Visited on the 23rd February at around 12 dinner time. Slow service, mould in the cauliflower cheese, burnt and stale potatoes, mushy veg, fatty inedible meat, and squashed pre made Yorkies by the looks of it. Filthy, and dirty. People cramped together like sardines. Sent the mouldy food with a member of staff with no manager then coming to speak to us. After 10 minutes, I went to speak to another member of staff at the main door and waited 15 minutes to eventually speak to the manager. I requested a refund for our drinks and meal which we did get, as we wanted to go and find elsewhere to eat. Use to be a good place to come and have a carvery, definitely won’t be making the 26 mile trip again. 1 star is definitely generous.

Great pub. Very friendly helpful staff. Great choice of food. Very well cooked and proper size portions.

We had made a reservation for valentines day. The venue called us that morning to inform us the carvery was unavailable due to a fault with the heated food area. Did we want to cancel or rearrange. We opted to still go and enjoyed very good food, the mixed grill and burgers were very good quality and excellent service throughout. Thank you

Waited way too long for an absolutely rank veggie burger. Just a block of anaemic undercooked bean sludge which looked like it had freezer burn. Gammon and chips was barely edible came with peas straight out of a 1970s school dinner. Kitchen should be ashamed.

Really gone downhill. Attended this evening no carvery at 5:30pm, turkeys not cooked, however this is the 2nd time carvery not available. Ordered food from menu, not told there was a wait. Over an hour later food still hadn't arrived. Went to the bar customer's infront getting a refund due to wait and poor quality of cold food. Got a refund for food but would not refund drinks!! Ladies toilet blocked absolutely disgusting and the smell was vile. Will be avoiding for a while and hope it improves! Such a shame!

Staff are assigned to a till, seems like other staff can wander about and not serve you at the bar, only specific members can serve. Pretty dire to be fair. Cakes have gone downhill, not very pleasant anymore.

Below average food. Garlic mushrooms arrived cold on the inside so obviously not cooked through. No garnish on the plate so it didn’t particularly look appetising. No attention to detail. Much the same with the chicken strip starter although this was served hot. Had the sirloin steak. Although the steak was cooked as asked there was no rendering of the fat so it was slimy and inedible. The grilled tomato was missing from the plate so sent back. It came back with said tomato but it was raw and had been placed on the griddle to make it appear it had been cooked. Peas and mushrooms again cold. No heat on them whatsoever. Peppercorn sauce also failed to arrive. No one came to ask if our meals were ok. Service was ok but not great. One of our party specifically wanted the large roast but the app said it was out of stock. How when they were still serving carvery. Cold poor quality food and below average service. Another party member had an egg missing off her meal and when that came it was very undercooked and was snotty. Not a great visit all in all.

Very good carvery, our group went early and staff were welcoming and nice. I ordered a 'too good to go' for pick up and takeaway for 8:30pm as my husband finished work then. Unfortunately the food (lots of it) was bundled away at 8pm. When I said I had ordered for pick up 8:30-8:45, they said there was no food, talking to me while taking loads away! When I queried the app said it was still OK to collect, the supervisor went in the back and pinged an email off saying the order was cancelled 😱 Another couple had their food order cancelled, they bought a regular meal from the cashier but as the staff had cleared away early, they were unable to eat. Come on Cherry Tree, either say you're closing earlier and deal with outstanding orders in a timely manor or don't scurry all the food away an hour early.

Friendly, helpful staff, food great apart from the mashed potatoes,tasted powdery, good serving of meat, beef and gammon excellent, will definitely go there again,👍😋😎

Really enjoyed the place, The food was excellent had to wait in a que for food which I take it as its popular so therefore it must be good, I only had Guinness Zero to drink which was chilled and nice.

Food was really not good, we waited for our drinks as we ordered the food and drinks on the App, the food arrived in about 15 to 20 mins but the drinks did not arrive, we all ate and the drinks turned up after we finished. Really poor service. The carvery was lacking options and in general the food was really poor.

We visited tonight and had a carvery which was good. Ordered lemonade and Dr Pepper, paid and then was told there was no Dr Pepper so we had to change our order. We did take a cakeaway and the cookie and cream cheesecake is not nice. Picture of it being mostly tasting off cream & lacking the cookies part. Picture is of 4 bites and most of the cream (off cream) section wiped away as there was no base. My partner’s toffee fudge slice had no fudge on it and was missing a corner. These were the only two options of the cakeaway available. £10 wasted.

In no particular order Often a wait at the bar as only one person serving, Most staff are excellent... .. one guy with glasses serves the carvery , poss a manager she receives the guests , a young girl who clears the tables lserves.food ...all awesome . Shame not many onions in the gravy , few years ago there was onions with gravy, now it is gravy with a few onions The veg you have are great ...except peas and think you had mushy peas a few years ago, Lentils for the veggies would be good . I don't eat meat and the alternative is very poor , so just gravy and veg for me. the rest of the group all had meat and loved it , shame the beef had ran out , it was 7pm , last food orders @ 8pm Amazing value

Overcooked carvery food . Had to wait over 10 minutes for a chef to come and carve the meat . We were greeted by what do you want instead of how can I help you or what would you like . I've tried this carvery 4 times now and each time it gets worse. That will be our last time at the cherry tree

Staff were rude and arguing behind the bar Food was horrendous the pigs in blankets was burnt to a crisp and looked like they had 12 rounds with Tyson I was walking on food as I was walking back to my sticky table! I used to love it here but it’s really gone down hill!

Turkey was missing as they had had the oven on too high all night and overcooked it badly (according to the chef), and the vegetables weren't great either. Really gone downhill recently, and I'm not the only one of my friends who thinks so. Won't be back until they get things sorted out.

The food was fresh and plenty of it, all cooked perfectly, helpful friendly staff, good play area for the children, and great price.

Another excellent meal at the carvery. Great choice of vegetables. Recommended.

Went here for my wife's day 40th ,booked on line been here b4 thought would be a place that never let me down on carvery and mains so thought no brainer ,we had something else's planned for her birthday thank God the weekend after ,well carvery my wife and daughter had only small ones as most was wasted the meat was best bit ,me my 2 lads and I girlfriend had mains mix of chicken ,burgers ect ,was all cold and tasteless the chicken was warm but dry ,if ur meal takes 15 mins too arrive mmmm I knew what too expect ,I'm big believer in right first time and came away dispointed and light in the wallet ,the bar staff were on the ball nice lady's, when mentioning this too friends they had same experience, no sure what's gone off sort it

Can be a little hit & miss at times. Food is usually ok and priced well, but depends on the chef cooking. The carvery is also hit & miss at times , good when attended well. Poor when lack of staff and no one bothering. Looking a bit dated , due for refurb.

Had a great evening with friends for dinner 🍽 😋 Polite staff who were both welcoming and friendly. Spent ages perusing the menu and then all 4 of us had carvery roast dinners.....absolutely delish (lucky me as they had the most scrummy, crispy roast parsnips too 😋) There was a warm atmosphere and was lovely that not overwhelmed in queuing for our carvery meals 😋 It's a popular venue and sometimes folks can get fractious in queues...not us, we were uninterrupted serving ourselves from the tasty selection of mixed vegs available: including red cabbage, broccoli, mashed and roast potatoes, carrots, green beans, stuffing and the fabulous roast parsnips. Excellent Yorkshire puds, fluffy inside and crisp outside 👌🏻 Allowing ourselves a little space after dinner we thought we would have desserts 🍨 🥧 🍦 wowsers the big cakes are awesome. We had a request for a vanilla slice but unfortunately all gone. Unperturbed we turned our attention to the ice creams.....not sure whi took the longest to choose their flavour combinations. Served with a smile as we were laughing and chatting at the counter Overall, we enjoyed our evening very much, sitting chatting and catching up with friends Thank you 😊

This used to be our go to place for a carvery - but standards in the last 6 months have really fallen, to the point where for the first time in my life eating out at places, I had to get a refund for my meal. The carvery was shocking, meat was decent - roasters like pebbles, mash more like porridge, stuffing was burnt, really not good enough. The floor staff are always lovely, but the higher ups who give the orders clearly don't care anymore. Not sure what's changed in the last 9 months or so, but please change it back!

Service was great from start to finish. Lovely fresh food kept coming out to the carvery. Was a little disappointed there was no cake away, but the bar lady did me a beautiful brownie And custard to take home. Will definitely return. Thanks guys

Was only Luke warm nothing was topped up so empty pots on serving area wouldn't recomend the carvery between 5 and 6 totally let down

I had a very lovely meal and my cake was beautiful I was told it was made by someone called emily, give her a raise. Only downside was it was full of pensioners giving me death stares.

Visited today as a spur of the moment treat. Managed to get a table despite not booking & it being very busy. Fantastic service & great selection as always. Even grabbed a cake to go as we were far too full from lunch.

Went there Saturday 18th at 6.30 a party of 8 service not good and carvery was very poor no gravy no Yorkshire puddings etc and was rushed out at 10 o’clock .. not a good experience

Visited again on the 19/01/2025. Perfect as always, the carvery was stunning. This time around, we decided to use the cake to go service (see picture). Absolutely perfection!!! The carvery was amazing! You can see why it's such a popular place ! The variety was also something I've never come across in a carvey, but the cheesey mash and beef dripping roasts were so morish !!! If you run a pub and want to start a carvery, do what these do. Faultless throughout.

We went on the 18th jan. Took absolutely ages to served. Was told No staff available people phoned in sick Got hot drinks. Which unfortunately went cold whilst waiting for someone to eventually start serving food Lot people walked out However we decided to stay in the queue When finally got ours it was cold Lady offered to put it in microwave which we declined Got refund when we got home i checked the refund to find it was someone else's. So now out of pocket Very unhappy were regular customers

We were in a party of 10 for a birthday celebration and all had a carvery. We waited in the queue behind the first two people for 20 mins without service and at 12.20 they walked off to go elsewhere. There were only 2 meats available turkey and gammon as the beef was said to take 45 mins cooking time when the meals were purchased. When it came to my turn there were two distictive undercooked pink/red spots on the turkey so that was a no no even though the server disgreed. The sauces etc were not put out. We were told on entry that 3 staff had phoned in sick, perhaps employing more staff is necessary as queues were long at the bar and the carvery. The waitress came to collect the plates off the table, then returned to collect empty glasses. She took mine which still had water in it and when challeged asked if I wanted a replacement which I agreed to. That never arrived! I used the toilets near to the main door and the taps only gave a dribble of water to wash your hands. One cubicle was out of action. With such a busy venue all toilet/ handwashing facilities should be functional. As a regular visitor there this was the worst visit I'd made and am rethinking about another visit.

Terrible customer service, we walked out after 30 minutes, what we booked for wasn't available on the day we went. We also paid a £10 deposit which they would've refund. We complained to the person in charge no manager available. We left our details for them to contact us.

Midweek lunch with my family excellent value for money food was amazing spoilt for choice staff very attentive they could not do enough for you and my Abbott was that good had another while waiting for the rest of the drinks will definitely be back

Plenty of availability for 8 of us, staff was really helpful with everything we asked prices was fab and food was lovely.

We went for a carvery because we had a email from you. We live at Findern and like to walk to the Cherry tree have a meal and a drink then walk home. I spoke to the lady who collected the plates because the Beef and the gammon that I had was delicious. She said she would tell the chef. We really enjoyed the meal but we always do.

Tables were clean, seating was fast. Turkey was incredibly dry though and essentially inedible. Gammon was lovely though!

It's carvery city!! Sunday evening around 7pm, no queue, great carvery, followed by a food coma......

Lovely food, good service but the only let down was there was some older boys in the children’s play area that was extremely loud and throwing around the soft play and hurting others. The parents didn’t get involved so I couldn’t work out who they were and unfortunately it put us off our meal as my little boy who is only a toddler got hurt. I know this isn’t the staff at the cherry tree’s fault but I wish they hadn’t been in there as they were too old and rough

Carvery was not nice today. Beef was very tough and the food was cold. Not surprising the food was cold, the whole place was cold. Did hear other people complaining about the food. I Did complain but the staff didn’t seem to care. Won’t be going back. Waste of money.

I had the carvery, had to scrape the mash out, no cauliflower cheese, no gravy. Stood around waiting for the dude to come out and replenish, but it didn't happen. Probably won't bother again for a long while

Usually my go to place but this time tables were sticky drinks took 30mins to come after food. Man serving carvery was miserable and gave us the worst bits. Food wasn't edible at all tried to complain but woman just walked off. Man with the bun gave me a dirty look and just walked off when asked about dessert. Young Asian lad credit to the place 👏

Well visited new years eve and what can I say food was great A massive thank you to Sarah for sorting everything out for us a very much changed pub since our last visit

85% staff were completely unprofessional and rude, wait times were awful, they lost our order for a while which was pre order. Luckily the food is nice or this visit would have been nothing more than a disaster. This was our Christmas dinner as we didn’t have one on the day, and it was spoilt by the staff and atmosphere. Even I wondered ‘where’s Julie’ by the end of ordering drinks, one staff member said ‘I’ll lose my job or walk by the end of the day’ in front of all customers at the bar.

Went for breakfast today. What a disappointment. Sausage cheap and tasteless. Bacon looked and tasted like it was 2 weeks old. Eggs hard and scrambled swimming in water. Toast was made using stale bread. Hash browns were cold. Mushrooms were ok…. I would never return to this place again. 0/10, if I could give it a worse rating, I would!!!!!

This used to be a good carvery, but it has gone down hill. Cold food poor quality food, very tough veg and pudding the parsnips can be used as a weapon 🔪 or a tool. Sorry to say I may never use this place again.

Wouldn’t go again after today’s fiasco. An hours wait for food from the menu. Carvery was over cooked & cold. Then to add insult the carvery server asked us wait whilst he cleaned up the meat and veg plot that were in a shambles to start his shift, he well and truly showed his anger, the pub was near empty so no need for the mess. Then we needed to use the baby changing facilities which were broken with no alternative.

Christmas dinner very cold pata starter very watery 3 servings all the same we was the first up for the carvery 5 people food was cold gravy very salty we all left the meal pudding cheese and biscuits 4 crackers come on we have been visiting since the place opened Christmas the last 8 years this will be our last we was offered a free drink spoiled our day

Not worthy of a star if you, as a driver, are far from home to celebrate Christmas here while enjoying good food and are not welcome!!! Thank you, never come here again Not 1 pound left for you!! Then just get junk from the shell for the microwave It's a shame that I have the label of driver on my back again Wish your guests a Merry Christmas!! But the 2 people who spoke to me are sorry, shame on you!!!

Not enough staff at times and the carvery is a bit hit or miss

Went to breakfast with Santa today. Santa was the only good thing. He was patient and understanding with both my boys. The entertainer that had a puppet, magic show and balloon animals was also very nice. The food was freezing cold and not great quality at all. Constantly running out and not restocking quickly. Completely ran out of veggie sausages quickly. Constantly running out of coffee (possibly the worst coffee I’ve ever had) the staff were run ragged and not very helpful (which I don’t really blame them for when so few of them were on). Children’s apple juice was given in a pint glass? No real organisation or explanation of how things ran during the event. Absolutely waste of money and time. A real let down.

The food is good value for money but might be best to go in good time. We went up for the carvery a bit late and some things were rather well done and condiments had run out. The staff are pleasant but it can get busy so not always available to clear plates or ask for things. Overall good value good food.

Service poor from start. One staff serving on bar with near a dozen people waiting to get drinks. Most of us had the carvery that was just warm when spoken to staff . All they said I’ll sort something out for you and speak to the manager. That didn’t happen and paid full price . When I ask a member of staff a question she said we are short staff I’ll get back you to which didn’t happen. Paid bill and walked out , I’ll will never go there again waste of money.

First and last visit, only two members of staff serving, there was a large queue at the food order section we stood there for a good 10mins, then realised that no one was going to take our order so people started to order food at the bar, chaos! More staff needed, staff need to learn how to communicate, if a member of staff had advised us all to order at that bar instead of the massive queue at the food order section ... 🙊

Had many meals here, always good food at a great price

Sad to rate it low, but we were given attitude for having been allowed to order a large plate by the carvery chef due to miscoms with his staff and the lack of meat that was prepped for the day. But to really make the evening rubbish, the next male staff member delaying with veg in the carvery gave a sign and a comment of no you can't have more veg as there isn't enough (for my 10yr old who's birthday wr were celebrating who hadn't taken much veg with her tiny small plate to begin with) it made her feel really uncomfortable, but thanks to my won't be pushed over attitude. He said "fine you can if it's just a little bit" Cherry tree... You are a Carvery... It's what you are well known for why are you closing the carvery at 7.30pm and not making enough or selling more than your have prepped for. I'd rather not be allowed to purchase a Carvery than be treated like I'm an inconvenience when dishing up. (as a side note, ease up on the Yorkshires... Left to go so crispy they were too dry even soak up gravy.)

Always good food at this carvery. Bar was really busy for a Thursday afternoon. Always enjoy food here and worth the trip

Usually a lovely place to go but today left disappointed. We had one of the 1st sittings on the carvery and the food was hardly warm. However the service and atmosphere was at its usual good self.

We waited at the bar to order food, not a member of staff in sight! Not as good as it should be. We always liked to go here for a meal on our way home holiday.

Service was excellent and friendly, felt very welcome, tables where clean and ready for new guests, the food was exquisite and the desserts divine, the take away service is excellent too, please don't change anything, you're already perfect!

Reasonably priced for a large carvery and the plate was massive. Piled it up. There was plenty of choice for veg. Would visit again.

Was an enjoyable meal with a decent carvery selection however the items available can vary between days so it's something to note but the regular items you would expect are always present

We were staying near Derby for a weekend away and went to Cherry Tree Farm for Sunday lunch. We had booked the day before, but still waited 15 minutes to be seated... .it was well worth the wait !!! The carvery comes in 3 sizes (small, standard and large ) and is even available as takeaway. We had the choice of 4 meats ,4 different potatoes (new pots, mash, roast and roasted in beef dripping ) various vegetables, stuffing, gravy etc. They also do takeaway dessert, and I have never seem since big cakes!!!. Excellent value for money......we had 4 alcholic drinks , 2 starters, 4 mains (2 carvery, 1 hunter's chicken, 1 pie of the day) the total bill was £75 . Highly recommended. Will definitely use again if we are up that way

Service was slow wasn't that busy only one person behind the bar taking food orders. Food came to our table, had to then ask for missing items, which arrived after 10 minutes. Was ok on balance.
