Chequers Riverside in Coleraine

We were looking for fast food so we thought we would give this place a try. I ordered the veggie burger and fries. The burger was very good and I was pleased I could get one. The fries were doused in butter, very unhealthy, I think because they were garlic fries, but tadted ok. My husband had fish and chips and he said it was terrible, too greasy, and he never wanted to return. The counter person was very helpful and answered all of our questions and worked hard to get our order to us quickly. We were thankful for the bathroom, but it was definitely a janitor closet / bathroom so not very glamorous at all.

Waited 35 minutes on my order. 2 items missing when I eventually received it and food was cold !

Bought a large chip and cheese, got it, ate alot of it, very nice. But there was a burger bun at the bottom? And the same with the rest of my family. Very good chips but random burger bun at the bottom of it

I had fish & chips and onion rings, and the taste was really good. The fish fillets were crispy and the onion rings were nice and tender. Unfortunately you had to buy the ketchup separately, which was a bit disappointing. However, the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant; the decor was cozy and inviting. Overall, a good experience, even if the additional ketchup purchase spoiled the overall impression a little.

Genuinely awful food. The burgers were cold and the toppings were all over the inside of the container, the onion rings were dripping in grease and the chips were black, rock hard and cold. Even the dog wouldn't eat them. The whole lot went in the bin. I've given 3 stars for service because the food was delivered 20 minutes ahead of the estimated time.

Ordered a cheeseburger and a plain Hamburger with no cheese. Got the order home and both were cheeseburgers 😞 Very dissapointing that staff did not listen to the order correctly.

Just a sit in chippy but sit in orders are just served in take out paper etc

No better place around the triangle area. Perfect every time any day of the week.

Was here on Sunday after coming from the jet centre and food especially the chips were lovely. Nice to be able to sit inside a chippy to eat with toilets available especially with the kids. The sit in area is lovely also

Food was just average, not the best nor the worst I've had, the onion rion ring was not very crispy just soaked in oil. Atmosphere very quiet but could because was only about 15.00 in the afternoon and not main trade time for this fish and chips shop. Service was below par the girl never looked happy from start to finish don't really think this is the job for her! And certainly wont win any awards for pleasantry.

Where do we even begin?!…. Firstly my girlfriend and I rang this establishment and it continued to ring with no answer? Secondly when we were greeted by the lady at the counter, as we were looking at the menu, she might as well of pressured us to tell her what we wanted (likely because she wanted back to cleaning to go home) Thirdly when we got our food, there was no dips And finally when I went back to get our dips, I was IGNORED for a good 5 minutes before anyone came to me. The 2 ladies working looked at me, then continued to clean…. Felt like a hindrance to be perfectly honest. Food was nice but couldn’t rate the service at all

5 quid for a burger McDonald's would be better value

I have been gluten-free for a long time and the gluten-free food is really good and one of the only places that does it well.

Came here for the gluten free fish n chips. Family loved them. I thought the regular was a bit oily. Tasted good

One of the nicest sit-in chippys I've been in. Great food, clean restaurant and modern.

Got home to find my order was wrong. Drove back and whilst they replaced it, at no point did anyone apologise. A simple "sorry" would have been appreciated, its basic customer service and good manners!

Ate here recently and surprised about the large portion size. This is not a restaurant but there is plenty of space and tables to sit in and eat. Meal was plentiful and very tasty, will definitely return. Only downside is navigating past the McDonald's que which seems endless at time. Maybe worth parking somewhere else and walking over.

Absolutely dreadful. Food was completely awful. Couldn't eat it. Should have known better. We were the only customers there at tea time.

Tuesday 1st August 7:30pm; Bap of Burger fell apart & was unsure of sauce on burger so went up to query, was greeted by a very rude young FOH lady who has little to no people skills coming up to myself in such an aggressive tone, Shouldn’t be allowed to work with people, Never mind hospitality, never seen anything like it, with multiple food safety violations (makeup nails & lashes) & seen clearly horse playing and heard LAUGHING about my complaint in the back? thankfully the cook in the back was brilliant and had clearly worked with people before & was happy to replace to burger and had the new one with us within 5 minutes and it was delicious! Such a shame I will not be returning all due to this young lady working the front of house, after the cook in the back was so helpful and pleasant.

Rude server, uninterested, no hello, no thank you, burger didn't come as specified, rolled eyes when I asked to correct, dirty tables and bin over flowing....won't be back!!!!

I spilt my drink and they were straight over with a new one free of charge, really lovely staff and the best onion rings I've ever had!

Wow, a tremendous feed if ever there was one & great value for money. A fairly straightforward but very tasty menu, with food cooked fresh & served piping hot. Comfortable dining area (across 2 floors).

Although the staff was quite friendly and helpful, what's inside the plate did not really raised my enthusiasm. Cheap though. I guess you can't have it all 🤷‍♂️

Decent enough food but portion size wad on the small side. Also found quite a few bigger bones in the fish. Something to consider when ordering for the kids.

Multiple onion rings with onions that i can only describe as paper in them, chemical taste and smell of that batter on the chicken goujons

Although disappointed in the Articlave branch, was happy to try out a Fish at lunchtime. We had a Cod and a portuon of sausages, there were throw in chips so although expensive including a bottle of Fanta and a portion of red sauce at 65p was a god enough value meal. Sausages were good, but the Cod was probably the best I've had in the last 10 years. Chips were outstanding as well. Loose the ridiculous charge for sauce, and I would put this chippy as best in NI.

Good food and large portion sizes. However they advertise heinz sauce and charge 65p but it's not. I have allergies so wasn't sure if I could even eat it in the end. However friendly staff and gluten free options are available

Absolutely overpriced for 2 burgers. We were charged 60p for tiny bit of lettuce & piece of tomato on one of the burgers!!! Any wonder the place was empty. We will not be back

Great chippy with big portions and not greasy. Would like a veggie option though, in some places the pasties are made with spices, no meat so that could be an easy option. However, thff red pasties were delicious and the batter was one of the best I have had 😋

Chequers Riverside has it all! They have an extensive menu to suit everyone. Their fish & chips have to be the best in town-the batter is crispy & non greasy and very decent portion sizes. Staff are always extremely polite & friendly. Special shout out to Kai who served me this evening-he was very pleasant & super efficient. Jane is a great asset too-welcomes every single customer that walks through the door with a huge smile. She makes time to chat & banter with the customers too while they wait for their order. Can't recommend Chequers Riverside enough!! Keep up the good work guys! 👏

Take away wasnt that nice onion rings are bad and soggy and one wasnt cooked

It has been a long time since we had a great meal at an affordable called at Chequers while up in Coleraine staying at the Premier Inn for a few days. We come from Ballywalter and I haven't had a meal like it. We'll done Chequers. Very friendly, clean and good surroundings. Very good food and friendly staff,tho a wee bit on the pricey side

Been a few times and food tastes very good. Fish batter is nice and crispy. Curry sauce tastes good but was a little watery compaired to portrush.

Food was ok, Not the best chippy I've been to. Reminded me of Harry Ramsdens with the thick tough batter and chips that where dry inside like they had been frozen. Like I said nice but wouldn't go again.

Last few times we have been in service has been very slow and not once has our order been right. Young lad at counter very unhelpful, almost seems like he doesn't want to be there. Very disappointing from Chequers

Got a cod supper this evening. A lot of soggy batter and very little fish. Food was cold. Will not be back.

Had just turned the oven of, could only micro wave a scone, thought this was poor service as it was s quick heat oven, lighting very glarey in eyes, coffee ok and had two very comfortable arm chairs.

Great food. Not to be confused with the other branches this one is so much better. Their chicken Goujons are the best, The fish is also great, battered sausages and onion rings also good

Called in to grab a quick bite, sat waiting to be served and no one came.. 5 staff behind the counter talking so ended up walking out. Very disappointed with the service 😒

The food is ok, tasty ,but the staff is really unprofessional. Maybe it was late, maybe we were tourists, maybe,maybe... would try it as a take away only, not eating in. Really rude.

Food was ok chips and sausage was very good but the chicken burger qas over cooked and way too hard to eat. And i was also fined for something that i didn't do.

The food was excellent. The service by the young lad was disappointing. He slouched over the till, almost seemed 'annoyed ' that we had disturbed him to place an order. He was the same with other customers. Yawning between typing in . Disappointing for the venue 😕

Lovely food & loads of indoor seating, wee bit on the expensive side but was happy to pay it as the food was lovely.

One of the nicest restaurants in Northern Ireland. Great staff, amazing food and impeccable cleanliness. If you're going to the McDonald's next to it; you're missing out on better food and a more relaxing atmosphere.

Cod Supper is very good, big portions. Wasnt busy when i visited, so service was pretty quick. Nice seating area and decor. Will certainly be back.

Food was good, parking was tight, staff were talking amongst each other and on their phones rather than worrying about the huge queue unfortunately. It's good food but pay that little bit extra compared to other places which I don't mind paying at all as its worth it in my opinion,but worth mentioning. Seating inside is good, I prefer upstairs but it's currently closed I'm imagining it's due to covid restrictions. Outside seating is two tables close together but this can't be helped as there isn't much they can do with the space available to them. It's worth a visit I believe. Their cod is probably the best I've had.

After standing 45 mins in a queue for a simple order of a 1/4 cheeseburger and a chip . My order was called and I ask to make sure it was correct Went home to give to food to my son and the older was completely wrong. Tried to eat what I ahd recieved and its was tasteless and in the bin it went.£7.10 not well.spent Tried calling but rang out on several occasions to try and sort the out the order but no one answered the phone last time in that place

Really fast service, but not like too fast that you'd think food sitting ready before you order. 10-15mins for 3 chick fillet burgers, cheesy chip, chip and goujons. And 5 bottles of water. About £30. Good spot but that queue to.mac Donald's is shocking. You kind of have to be a bit rude and try to sneak around it. I got caught a bit overtaking the Mac donakds queue as a car was driving in other lane towards me but worked out far quicker than sitting there forever. Or just park nearby and walk over probably handier. You can sit out front but table looked a bit unclean and I'd rather eat in the car anyway with the kids

Nice clean shop with great staff. The food is always of a high standard and portions are more than enough. Would recommend chequers Riverside to anyone.
