Had masala chai and vadai. Chai tasted good and vadai was yummy too but it was oily and the chutney's n sambar was average and it could have been better. It was a bit expensive overall, as one glass of chai is 3.99 pounds

The best Kothu parotta I have had away from India... great dosas.. really loved the food.

We had a meal provided for a celebration party for 60 people at our home - the service was fantastic, the food was great - and plentiful, thank you!

Truly enjoyed the food Masala Dosa,but there's a big delays in Service and missing cutlery tables are not set up properly. Need to improve on Service.

Great meal! On the pricey side but if it's in your budget, it's worth it. Seeraga samba biriyani and prawn thokku were really nice. Good service too!

Some of the best curry and paneer I've had not only in Edinburgh, but in general. So glad we went in! Amazing mango lassi as well. Will be back.

My partner and I ate here on a Friday night. We were seated and given menus quickly, but had a considerable wait before our order was taken and had to flag down the server. The masala dosa came out in good time, but was not particularly hot or well-filled for £10+. Our drinks did not come before or with the food and again we had to ask the server for them twice. The chicken biryani and kadalai curry were very good, but the inattentive and unaplogetic service soured our experience here. Maybe a better takeaway option?

Tasty and good ambience, indeed the selection of songs though took me home ! Everything on top notch perfection! Would recommend this place to everyone for South Indian cuisine ! Appaaa...! Enii oru thookam 😂

We had tandoori chicken and onion dosa. Portion was good and overall taste was good. Service was a little slow despite the place being half empty.

We had an amazing time dining at Chennai Marina! Needed to find some delicious South Indian food for my kiddo & me, and Chennai Marina was great. The idlis were fluffy, the vadas were fantastic, and the veg thali was delicious. What really stood out was how warm and welcoming the staff and owner were. Can't wait to go back!

What a pleasant dinner. Every dish was tasty and the staff really lovely. Our kids even got a free mango lassi with a refill! Most enjoyable evening!

Visited for dinner recently. Nice to have some traditional south Indian food, which all arrived quickly. We enjoyed the chicken kothu and lamb milagu masala. Reasonably priced, especially the drinks. We hope to be back soon :)

We'd often visit Chennai's Marina for having some nice dosa, idli and sambar vada. It's pocket friendly. The staff has always been good. It's at a great location in Old town, near Surgeon's hall -- a very convenient place for people who live in and around, and people who go to work there. We try to stick to the traditional South Indian fare. The times we have tried the curries, they were ok. We were served a very nice gajar halwa truffle or something like that once -- it was one of the most memorable desserts I had.

Had breakfast, idli vada was great. Chana bhatura was also good. Excellent filter coffee

It was good to eat South Indian food it's not often you find good south Indian food. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed food and service will be back

This place serves an exceptional Thali. Their Kerala beef is very tasty, too. They prepare everything fresh and do not skimp on spices, which I really appreciated.

This time we are deeply disappointed with the food and the service. We have ordered idli with vada, which is worst. Taste is not good , idlis are cold and saggy. We sit for almost 30 mins, table water also not served until we requested. This restaurant use to be really good earlier and we use to go very regularly. Not sure what happened today.

Great little restaurant. The food was very good indeed. The onion Dhosa was wonderful and light. Chickpea dish and a coconut spinach & turmeric chicken dish were fab. Recommend this venue. It is small and got busy quickly so may be worth booking.

We went there as a group the food was good. The only thing was they added service charges in the bill I did not know that. I have been to many restaurants in London but none has added a service charges in the bill. So was a bit confused I don’t know if it is a thing in Scotland no idea.

The Best place for Indian food lovers..

We visited around noon as a family for lunch. Food is really authentic South Indian and freshly prepared. The service was pretty quick and honestly upfront if any dish would take longer to prepare as we had gone very early in the day. Seeraga Samba Biriyani is a standout dish my daughter had ordered. The thali that we tried was very just as good with a wide variety of authentic curries such as Otta Kolumbu, lamb curries, rasams and dal. Payasam was lovely too. A very good experience as a fairly.

One of the best South Indian food ever had in Edinburgh🔥🔥must give a try 👌 my recommendations : proper authentic dum biriyani’s , lollipop chicken, and finally masala dosa’s were best especially their’s chutneys for dosa’s it’s giving and fresh 👌👌😋😋

Fantastic dining experience at Chennai Marina! The variety of dishes we tried was impressive. The chicken lollipops were crispy and flavorful, while the dosa and paratha were perfectly cooked. The chole batooray was a highlight, with a delightful balance of spices. Both the chicken Karahi and lamb Karahi were rich and aromatic, and the biryani was a flavorful treat. Finished off with a warm cup of chai - perfect! Highly recommend Chennai Marina for its delicious food and great service! 5/5 stars"

Reservé una mesa para 90 minutos antes de un concierto en el Queen's Hall. Después de una espera de 40 minutos, tuve que recordarle al camarero que todavía estábamos esperando nuestros entrantes y que teníamos que irnos antes de las 7. 30 pm. Luego se sirvieron en 10 minutos, pero los entrantes vinieron junto con el plato principal, lo que significa que la tubería principal se había enfriado y nos sentimos apresurados. Las pakoras de pescado estaban muy sabrosas, pero el pollo en el plato caído era un poco duro, aunque la salsa era un buen sabor. Mi mayor preocupación era cuando se utiliza el único inodoro disponible. Estaba sucio y no tenía agua corriente ni toallas de papel. Había un lavabo fuera del inodoro, pero de nuevo no hay toallas y esto no es un arreglo higiénico. Esto enciende las alarmas sobre la higiene alimentaria general.

We visited on Sunday and were very disappointed. We stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting for service and gave up. We could see on CCTV that there were staff in the kitchen and I tried to get their attention to no avail before we left. The branch on Dalry road is excellent.

Can’t recommend highly enough - we had the banana leaf thali for pongal. Delicious.

Ordered Chicken Biryani for takeaway, however, half of the biryani was plain white rice. Really disappointed with the food quality.

Love their crab pepper chilli, chicken lollipop and fish chilli. We have already visited this place twice. Make sure to come to Clerk Street Chennai Marina, there is this cute and polite guy who takes care of everyone like his own guests. Thank you so much for your excellent service and good.

The food is brilliant. Order chilli fish, chicken lollipop here - lipsmacking indeed. Got crab curry with chapati (no white flour, pure wheat). Mumbai feels. Home feels.

Atmosphere isn’t great, but not bad. It’s what you’d expect. Food and service were very nice. I was only one of two people there at an odd hour, but the idlis, dosa, chutneys, sambar, were all on point. Wonderful South Indian spot near the university. Will def go back if in the area.

They have the best Malabar chicken biriyani in Edinburgh.

We had a small Xmas gathering and it awesome with fantastic food, service and ambience... We all enjoyed and sang to our hearts content. The food specially Sukha lamb was amazing. Thank you for your great service. Well recommended.

We had a work Christmas lunch at Chennai’s. The food was delicious, they had decorated the table with Christmas crackers, and gave a great set menu with lots of vegetarian options.

I went with my friends to have breakfast the food was good and the atmosphere was alright but the service was not good, especially about the bill , the price on the menu they are showing is different from the bill they are charging high price, and also they are asking for service charge of 7 pounds when we asked about it they removed it and given new bill , totally unsatisfied.

A restuarent for people who prefer proper South Indian Breakfast Humble Manager on ground (Name : Salman) Reasonable price and good portion of Food. Definitely recommend folks to come here for Breakfast

Beautiful little restaurant with amazing food. We had the biryani because it was recommended to us so much and it was delicious. Also got the fish curry though, which both of us thought was even better. Will definitely be going back!

Madhavan was a great server and muthu was an amazing chef who gave us some fabulous dosa and vada and the filter coffee took me to Chennai. Excellent and worth a try

Tenía antojo de buena comida india y este lugar NO decepcionó cada plato que pedimos era absolutamente increíble, desde los aromas fragantes a los múltiples niveles de sabor que todos nos quedamos completamente satisfechos. Mañana nos vamos de Edimburgo a las tierras altas, pero fue tan bueno que vamos a parar de nuevo para otra comida en nuestro camino de regreso a Londres

Muy mala relación calidad-precio, ya que los vadai's fueron fritos dos veces y los parathas se calentaron y no recién hechos. Costó una bomba por una comida horrible.
