Fantastic dining experience at Chennai Marina! The variety of dishes we tried was impressive. The chicken lollipops were crispy and flavorful, while the dosa and paratha were perfectly cooked. The chole batooray was a highlight, with a delightful balance of spices. Both the chicken Karahi and lamb Karahi were rich and aromatic, and the biryani was a flavorful treat. Reservé una mesa para 90 minutos antes de un concierto en el Queen's Hall. Después de una espera de 40 minutos, tuve que recordarle al camarero que todavía estábamos esperando nuestros entrantes y que teníamos que irnos antes de las 7. 30 pm. Luego se sirvieron en 10 minutos, pero los entrantes vinieron junto con el plato principal, lo que significa que la tubería principal se había enfriado y nos sentimos apresurados. Las pakoras de pescado estaban muy sabrosas, pero el pollo en el plato caído era un poco duro, aunque la salsa era un buen sabor. Mi mayor preocupación era cuando se utiliza el único inodoro disponible. Estaba sucio y no tenía agua corriente ni toallas de papel. We visited on Sunday and were very disappointed. We stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting for service and gave up. We could see on CCTV that there were staff in the kitchen and I tried to get their attention to no avail before we left. The branch on Dalry road is excellent.

Love their crab pepper chilli, chicken lollipop and fish chilli. We have already visited this place twice. Make sure to come to Clerk Street Chennai Marina, there is this cute and polite guy who takes care of everyone like his own guests. Thank you so much for your excellent service and good.

The food is brilliant. Order chilli fish, chicken lollipop here - lipsmacking indeed. Got crab curry with chapati (no white flour, pure wheat). Mumbai feels. Home feels.

Atmosphere isn’t great, but not bad. It’s what you’d expect. Food and service were very nice. I was only one of two people there at an odd hour, but the idlis, dosa, chutneys, sambar, were all on point. Wonderful South Indian spot near the university. Will def go back if in the area.

They have the best Malabar chicken biriyani in Edinburgh.

We had a small Xmas gathering and it awesome with fantastic food, service and ambience... We all enjoyed and sang to our hearts content. The food specially Sukha lamb was amazing. Thank you for your great service. Well recommended.

We had a work Christmas lunch at Chennai’s. The food was delicious, they had decorated the table with Christmas crackers, and gave a great set menu with lots of vegetarian options.

I went with my friends to have breakfast the food was good and the atmosphere was alright but the service was not good, especially about the bill , the price on the menu they are showing is different from the bill they are charging high price, and also they are asking for service charge of 7 pounds when we asked about it they removed it and given new bill , totally unsatisfied.

Beautiful little restaurant with amazing food. We had the biryani because it was recommended to us so much and it was delicious. Also got the fish curry though, which both of us thought was even better. Will definitely be going back!

We literally found this hidden gem for South Indian food in Edinburgh. The food is just amazing, quantity and quality both are value for money and Ram’s service was excellent. We had dosas here which were delicious and very authentic, it’s difficult to find such good places away from home in a foreign land. Must try place if you love authentic South Indian food. One of the best Biriyani in Seera samba rice. Chicken curry with Chappati is a good combination. I like Chicken Manchurian ( bit spicy but I like it 👌). They did the catering for Diwali Celebration in Dalkeith. The service is excellent 👌 It is not only my view. There were close to 500 people in the Celebration and whoever I met, they mentioned the food was great. All the very best. My request, include goat kolambu ( not lamb ). Edinburgh Indians are missing it. Kindly include in your menu.

After a long time really I had, A Fantastic yummyyyyy seeraga samba lamb biryani & the tandoori chicken is adding ultimate. Feels like all the way you're having similar authentic thalapakatty in around Scotland.

Food is OK, dosa was delicious but service is horrendous. Waiter sitting on his phone whilst we are still waiting for him to take our drinks orders and bring poppadoms after 45 min. Eventually the food comes out, nice flavours but half of the food is cold and wrong dishes brought out. Ordered the special lamb on the bone biryani. Rice was overcooked and had almost no actual lamb meat, was mainly just bones, got sent back. Ruined a birthday night out, they need more staff, more interested attentive waiters, and more than just 1 chef cooking for a full restaurant

It's a nice place to have dosas. Had masala ghee dosa which was pretty amazing. Had Chicken biryani, the rice used wasn't Basmati so wouldn't recommend it but flavour was good. Would recommend this!

Fuimos al restaurante Dalry por recomendación. Fue horrible. La puerta estaba abierta con cuñas y hacía bastante frío y todos en el restaurante llevaban su abrigo. Había montones de moscas diminutas molestándonos durante toda la comida. Cuando les preguntamos si tenían algo para ellos dijeron que no y se fueron. Llegó mi dosis, que era lo único bueno de la visita, pero no hay señales de que mis compañeros fueran titulares. Perseguimos a sus de inicio de nuevo se fueron sin disculpas ni conversación. Todavía no hay entrada cuando llegaron los platos principales. Parecían sorprendidos cuando el curry fue enviado de vuelta porque queríamos el entrante primero. Cuando el curry se sacó después del entrante, claramente se había sentado, ya que tenía una piel. El servicio era horrible, las moscas eran increíblemente molesto y el restaurante estaba frío. No volvería ni pediría comida para llevar.

The food comes in restaurant style: all at once after quite a while of wait which I did not prefer Butter ckn was rlly good. Very creamy, thick and strongly spiced, w star anise in particular. Ckn was tender too Saag paneer was more the very creamy kind, less vegetable flavours. It's plain but decent Ckn tikka wasn't very weakly marinated and not crispy The signature dindugul seeraga samba dum briyani was lovely. Rice was small grained and super flavourful. Mutton was fine too Naan was avg, the veechu paratha was terrible, like a frozen product. Very oily too.

It was such a lovely place for an extremely yummy meal! I had the butter chicken, and it was one of the best. I would definitely recommend it!!

Loved the food here. Very happy to have found this place. The food is authentically tasty. We ordered the Podi Dosa and Hyderabadi Mutton pudina masala curry. It was a flavor bomb. The spice was just right too. The kind where you eat even after you know you’re very full, just cause the way they satisfy your tastebuds. :)

A really nice South Indian restaurant in the centre of Edinburgh. The food was great! The beef fry and the kotthu were our favourite and the paneer and chicken tikka also great. The biryani could have done with a bit more flavour, we ordered the beef one and the meat was dry in it (perhaps the other ones are better). Unfortunately the dosa we ordered was not crispy enough either but it might just be the type of dosa we got. The service was just okay, they did not have many of the cocktails they advertised and the staff didn't really explain the items or provide recommendations too well when my friends asked. However, I will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Had an extremely disappointing experience with the service and food. Visited this restaurant today for lunch in Newington. I ordered two lamb biriyanis with a starter and asked for a couple of glasses of water. The restaurant was quite busy and I had to wait patiently for my order for about 30-35 minutes. It made me annoyed to see that the person who runs the floor served the food for another table right beside me, even though they had arrived after I placed my order. But the person didn't even try to come tell me why the order was being delayed until I called him and reminded him of my order and the water I requested before. After five minutes, he came out with the starter dish and just two glasses. Once again, I had to call the person to remind them about the main course, as i asked to server both starter and main course together. However, I was disappointed to find that water still had not been served. To be honest, the food tasted good, but one of the two biriyanis we ordered had no meat on it. Instead, the rice covered big lamb bones with some flesh. Later, we requested the drinks menu, but the person informed us that it was not available at the moment. Unfortunately, they only provided us with the option of soft drinks. After all these, I approached him near the cash counter and provided him with feedback in a polite manner. He didn't even bother to own up to his mistakes and was quite disengaged. He gave me the bill and told me that if I pay cash, I'll get a 10% discount. Something happened after this that caused me to lose my calm. I paid 40 pounds for a bill that was 38 pounds. When I raised my hand to get the change, the person just dropped it on my hand from above, like I was untouchable and begged for money. I found the behaviour to be extremely disrespectful and it greatly offended me. The individual failed to offer an apology for his actions and simply ignored the situation. The proper etiquette is to delicately hand over the remaining balance to the customers, rather than dropping it. The service was extremely unpleasant and left me feeling very dissatisfied and disappointed.

Distinguished variety of food options both for vegetarian and non vegetarian foodies. Authentic South Indian Idli, dosa varieties with 3 different chutneys. I loved Green chutney. I tried Fried Idli, Seeragasambha biriyani, Theepori babycorn. Quantity is good. Value for Money-:)

Exceeded expectations. We ordered several different options from the menu and our waiter remembered about 8 or 9 different things by memory including drinks without writing anything down. The curry and sides were the best I’ve had in a very long time. We will definitely be going back again soon

Absolutely banging Indian food. The food is so perfectly cooked you can taste all the different spices coming through. The owners are super friendly and helpful and even offered to make my partners curry a bit milder if it came too spicy. The food is quite spicy but not too much so! We ordered fews things: However the sambhar was not that great and service is okayish. They nearly forgot our 1 order which caused delays. Okayish food overall - would not recommend as I have tried many South Indian places and Sambhar is the common practice and prime seller (if you can’t make that properly- you are doing something wrong)

South Indian food next door is much better , dosa is not at all tasty, next door tanjore is bit expensive but it's worth it. I have never been so disappointed.

This is one of the best south Indian restaurant in edinburgh. Me and my friends drive from glasgow only for their food. Most recommended items are their malabar beef biriyani , ghee rice made with kaima rice, idli - softest idli and their tea (real strong chaya) and we always got best service when we were there
