Absolute disappointment. Drove from Nottingham to visit this restaurant I have seen on TikTok. Waited 40 mins to be served to find out they have no sides. Order our food from a small selection then we waited another 10 minutes to find out they didn’t have the certain food in the box meal. 50 minutes wasted. So we left and had to find food for two hungry children. My grandma.. a 90 years old Christian had to hear swear words in every single song played. Very very very disappointed. Hangry is an understatement.

Went specifically for the Mac n cheese (this item is 1) listed as a side on their menu and 2) listed as part of a “baby shabba” meal. So, we weren’t allowed to order it as a side We weren’t allowed to order it as part of a smaller meal We were only permitted to get it as part of a large box starting from £27 which included a bunch of stuff we didn’t really want. really sad because their foods really good. But it felt really schemey. Ended up going to trap kitchen Leeds instead

We thought we were ordering a shareable plate. You know—something that two average humans could enjoy without fighting over crumbs. Instead, what we received was a masterclass in portion control: one lonely, undersized piece of chicken and a thimble of coleslaw clinging to the edge of the plate like it knew it didn’t belong. And the kicker? That little dollop of coleslaw—clearly rationed for dramatic effect—was £3 per pot. That’s right. £3 for two polite forkfuls. Honestly, you get more coleslaw in a supermarket meal deal, and they throw in a drink and crisps for the same price. By the end of the meal, we’d spent over £20 and still had room for a second dinner. Which, unfortunately, we had to find elsewhere. For a place that charges like it’s serving gourmet feasts, the reality felt more like being punished for expecting value. And just to add insult to indigestion—they had no sides available. None. It’s like the menu had gone on annual leave. For a place already skimping on portion sizes, you’d think a few fries or anything edible might help. But nope—nothing but a handful of overpriced disappointment. Safe to say, we won’t be back—unless we develop a sudden craving for overpriced air and disappointment

Been closed recently - nobody answers phone, mail box full. No information on the door. Visited once when open and was excellent. Please check if open before going to visit as opening times not correct.

Amazing Jamaican restaurant, love love the food

The rice was dry and the chicken wasn’t fresh,the chicken was also hard. don’t recommend coming here, waited for an hour aswell ,not worth it.

Pretty disappointed with my experience here to be honest, we came based off great reviews and amazing looking food. To start off our disappointing experience we were told that majority of the sides were not available, such as lamb chops, mac and cheese and prawns, fried dumplings and the mango salad. We were warned about a longer wait for our food as the mac and cheese needed to be prepared and cooked, we were told this would add about 20-30 minutes of waiting time which was fine. However after receiving our menus and this information we then waited a further 25 minutes before even ordering our drinks and food. After being in the restaurant for over an hour we finally received our drinks and then our food not too long after. We ordered the ‘ surf and turf’ plate and whilst the food that did come was delicious the chips were cold and we didn’t have the plantain or corn on the cob which was part of the plate. We then proceeded to order a side of bbq chicken wings and after waiting 25 minutes for them we decided to ask how much longer they would be only to be told they had actually run out of chicken wings but didn’t let us know. All in all, quite disappointed, the food was lovely but not worth the slow service/ missing items in our plate and the lack of food available that was advertised.

The food was quite bland not spice in it a Smokey taste to it. Also it was quite expensive in would be more nice if they did single meals. As for one plate was £27 and £40. The customer service was good and the lady working there was quite helpful. Overall the food was bland not much taste to the meal.

Absolutely fantastic. The food is real authentic Jamaican food with real flavour. The staff are friendly. Beautiful vibes. Love how the menu has lots of variety and good portions value for money. Saying this is Jamaican food is a insult to every Jamaican on earth , this is a living pisstake of bad food, these man are 100% clueless and have no idea what jerk chicken even is 🤣🤣🤣 literally serving BBQ sauce and calling it jerk , I can't lie you will have to travel far and wide to ever find worst food then this, a true insult to all Jamaican food establishments uk wide

Service was great, the waitress was really attentive and fastly paced. The indoor seating is limited but they offer plenty of outdoor seating. May have to wait for a table if you’re looking to sit inside. We ordered the jerk chicken signature box and the portion was very good and everything tasted good. My highlight was the Mac and cheese and jerk chicken. For my taste, I just needed more flavour maybe abit spicier. Lamb chops were perfectly cooked. The food was good and tasted clean. Wasn’t a fan of the prawns but liked everybting else. Music was a little too loud, it was hard to hear each other. Personally I just needed a little more flavours but definitely worth a try, the food is definitely not bad. Food is halal but they do serve alcohol

We had seen a tiktok clip of this little gem. The food was fantastic 🤩 We had a joint birthday family meal here last weekend. The staff were super professional & even offered to put our birthday cake in their fridge. When it was time for cake they had put their own sparklers in & sang Happy birthday to my niece in their own distinct way! I would definitely come again. The food was awesome 😋 I definitely recommend the surf & turf!!

so good!!! i’ve never had caribbean food wowwww that was a good chomp oh my god was it a good chomp!! the pasta was so smokey and unique i have never had anything that was smokey AND creamy- delicious!! the mutton was also so juicy, which i usually find it to be slightly dry in restaurants- amazingly cooked!!! absolutely will be back !! much love to the staff too for completing my mums request of turning the music down too haha (music choices were so good!)

Food was ok nothing to write home about, however I had such strange vibes from the manager I’m pretty sure Shabba himself. He seems to be very oddly nice and slightly flirty to the younger female customers and I could tell he was making them uncomfortable with this way he was acting. Strange guy who is quite disgusting if I am really honest I will not be returning here and have recommended a few women I know not to go there. We had a large group too so I’m not the only witness.

Visited as a family with kids. Lovely atmosphere, the place was very busy but the staff were great, very attentive. Food was DELICIOUS, big portions as well. Highly recommend.

I apologise in advance for the fact my review is mostly negative. The event started an hour and a half late (no food served until around 8:30), and no explanation was provided as to why. The complimentary drink "on arrival" was provided after the first course, with the hosting staff being unaware when asked about this being offered. The starter was alright, but mediocre. It took around 20 minutes from the starter being over for the mains to start being served, and they came out very slowly with only 2-3 at a time, and gaps of around 5 minutes per table. Our table was one of the last to be served, and we waited another 20 minutes on top of the aforementioned 20 minutes for our main. The gloves provided were very small in size, and did not fit very well. The ingredients were either overcooked or tasteless, with the prawns being very tough/chewy, the corn tasteless, the egg very overcooked/dry, and the lobster did not taste fresh. The crab was the best part, but there was no easy way to remove it from the claw which lead to me having to awkwardly dig it out for 10 minutes. The sauce was not very flavourful, just salty and mildly spicy. The chef asked if it was too spicy, it was definitely a mild/alright level of spice. We did try to dicuss this with the chef, but he deflected our concerns about time, quality, and flavour and said "It's all about the sauce" when asked why the corn was so tasteless. I do unfortunately think this was a waste completely of £45 per person, and we had to find other food afterwards as the portions left us both hungry and very disappointed. We hope you reflect on tonight and do better in future, because we were so hopeful after seeing the adverts/insta posts of your restaurant and expectations were high. I wish no harm upon your business, but just wanted to discuss thoroughly how disappointing tonight was. The staff at the venue were rude upon arrival, ignoring my partner. This also happened at the table when a lady serving walked away mid-question. This doesn't reflect upon yourselves though. Edited to add: As per the stories viewed on insta other customers received mussels in their boils, we did not.

I took my friend to Chef Shabbas yesterday, l must say the Platter was delicious? we ordered a few more sides because it tasted so good Inc: Wings, Macaroni and Lobster tails...Along with a few cocktails including Sex in the Bush...not on the ⛱️ lol, the restaurant was very busy and l how the restaurant attracted a diverse crowned of people, which l liked to see, the service was excellent the waitresses were very attentive throughout our visit, l will be definitely going back soon with my family & friend's ♥️😋🙌🏾

Food is amazing 10/10 but service is shocking. Called and asked if doing takeout as we live far away , was told yes if we come order in store. Drove 1 hour to then be told in store that they aren’t doing takeaway. This has happened on 4 different occasions now which I think is absolutely appalling as people aren’t coming from just across the road. If you’re telling people you’re doing takeout over the phone then KEEP THIS ENERGY!!!! Probably won’t bother with this place again because of this

I took my daughter her boyfriend and two of my friends for meal here first night we had to wait for a good while but it was well worth the wait because the food was delicious we all enjoyed it chef Shabba is great guy he lights up the place with his smile and personality I would recommend this place if you like good West Indian food but be prepared to wait for the food to arrive you wouldn't regret it trust me best regards Rass Tony

A bit disappointed after seeing tiktoks about this place. £27 for the Jerk One plate is daylight robbery, should cost £16 at most. Also ordered two waters for £4 and we got Costco waters which are only about 30p each! Food took almost an hour to come out and chef Shabba talked to others but made no effort when he could clearly see we were waiting for the bill. Nice food but nothing I haven't had before, thought Caribbean food was supposed to be amazing?

The worst experience I ever had in a restaurant, the food took ages to come out and when it came out a waitress mess up my friend order, I told her that we didn’t order that and she started shouting at me while I was talking to her calmly.

Fabulous Jamaican food and a very friendly team. We are inside, but in summer the outside must be very chilled. It’s all about the mixed plates, which are big enough to be shared, adding a few extra if you can’t resist

We went here for a lads night out for food and wasn't disappointed the food was proper Jamaican style only down side is we tried to tip the staff and wasn't allowed they refused but when the food is that good you want to leave a tip and the owner shabba is proper down to earth guy

The food was great but it’s very expensive and smaller than what was shown in their pictures . I paid 30 pounds for a box which I thought could be shared by two people but that wasn’t the case. It has variety but two people won’t be full with that box let’s be honest. My 13 year old son ate from the box and there was barely anything left. I paid 9 pounds for rice, plantain and chicken only to see no more than 2 table spoons of rice with 2 chicken , 2 slices of plantain All I can say is don’t get your hopes up in terms of size but the food is delicious

I ordered a side portion of coleslaw please be aware for £4 you get the size of a dip when measured it was a desert spoon portion when I rang to complain the lady was very rude saying that's the size you get , it wasn't worth 50p never will I buy from there again plus the mutton wasn't cooked very well .

Very polite service but the food really was not it for me. Ordered Jerk chicken and it had very minimal flavour, curry mutton was very dry and the Mac and cheese had no flavour at all. Caribbean food should be bursting with flavours and this simply was not. The chips however were tasty and the rice and peas were cooked right.

Lovely food, and came quick. Staff helpful. Only minor negative, music abit loud but staff turned it down upon request so not complaining.

Food ok, drink a bit pricey but I'm willing to support and see beyond that. The vibe was a little off for me, maybe they were having a bad day. This place can be more than just a place that clears up student money which its clear they are trying to do when the new students are in town. They are completely missing the locals and they could reach beyond kinda childish insta fresher talk and do some old fashioned marketing to adjacent areas such as woodhouse, burley, headingley, kirkstall and so on to get some adults in.

For me customer service is very important, and that was 10/10, the food was excellent 10/10 and the ambience definitely gave that yard vybz 10/10.. I loved it, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try some proper Caribbean food 🔥🔥🔥

This place is incredible, me and my partner got the vegan box, everything on the plate was well balanced and great flavours, atmosphere was great too I'd love to hear some more reggae and dub there! Overall such a treat to have this in the area.

Overall the place is nice there where no tables indoors so was offered to sit outside as it’s December it was a no for me. So we got food to go. Food was very flavourful and would definitely come back again when the weather gets warmer.

They only got about 5 tables inside and the rest are outside. 5 of us went in and another group of 2 went in at the same time. The only 2 tables available at the time inside was a small table near the window for about 2-3 people and 1 big table for about 6 people. The group of 2 went and sat on the big table and the waitress told us we have to sit outside as there's no space inside, when she easily could have sat the 2 people on the smaller table. So we left.

Visited Chef Shabbas yesterday for the first time as a group of 5 and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food was well seasoned, and the portions were enough to fill us up. We all got a box choice each and were not disappointed. Was great to meet Chef Shabba himself, lots of energy and visibly passionate about his food! The staff were really welcoming and the service was great.

Overall the food was great. Amazing service. Ordered the jerk platter and everything was delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked , the prawns were marinated in a tasty sauce , the lamb chops were so tender, the rice was lovely and fragrant and there was a good portion of fries. The mac and cheese was perfectly flavoured too and so delicious. This was the first time I’ve tried Jamaican food and it did not disappoint! I cant wait to return again , definitely gonna try the seafood platter. I highly recommend.

Am going with a 3.7 Walked into what I thought was a drinking spot. As you walk in, there is outside seating and then a small area with indoor seating. Few tables with a bar in front. The vibe is funky with music and a lounging atmosphere. This is a halal place, but unfortunately, they serve drinks. Greeted by good service we ordered. We got a rasta pasta chicken and a Jerk platter. Now I can say the food was really nice and flavourful. Pasta was good and the mixture of the platter was tasty. This spot misses out on a 4 star due to the following..... music can be abit loud , I would prefer the drink section to be separated from the main food hall but my main gripe with this place is Price . The platter was not cheap and I demolished it. For the price the portion should be bigger in my opinion and a full chicken should be given instead of half. Inexpensive items should not be overpriced to create a platter. Also a coke can should not be 2 pound. If this place looks into the pricing issue it could be a decent spot for everyone. I will say , good taste and funky vibe, sooo. Its One to Visit and try.

Ordered two burger meals and two red stripe beers on tap. Food and beer came quickly and was amazing. 100% would go again with more friends. Owner was also really friendly guy!

The food is cooked to perfection, the best jerk chicken i’ve ever had. The staff are friendly and the owner himself is very welcoming. i would order here again. The only issues i did have was the music was way too loud, couldn’t really hear anyone. Also the serving plates are too small for a meal and it ends up being fairly messy.

TLTR: Rated highly due to great overall experience. However quite pricey. Food 7.5/10 So I got "The Jerk One" which came with a selection of Jerk chicken, Wings, Prawns, Lamb chop, Sweetcorn, Mac n cheese, Plantain, Kidney bean rice. With a mango drink. I didn't like the rice and kidney beans however this is a personal dislike. Everything else was very good top notch especially the jerk chicken which falls off the bone and bery tender. The prawns were amazing. Great side of fries and coleslaw. "The Jerk One" costs £27.00 Mango drink costs £2.00 Atmosphere 7.5/10 Something different and classy. Definitely would recommend eating outside opposed to inside as there is plenty of room, overhead heaters are a great touch if things get chilly. The inside is quite cramped with narrow pathways so yes defo eat outside. Service 7.5/10 Nothing bad to say...brought out the food in good time, server was kind and helpful. Toilets are there to wash hands and relieve oneself which is clean and tidy (can be found outside in external staircase). Overall I would go again but not in a hurry, as it is quite pricey but competitive with other places. I believe I had tried the best they had to offer. But yes would reccomend to other for a great Caribbean experience. Well done to all the staff 👍

Seen some reviews off YouTube and thought I’d give it a go. Ordered the Jerk One for 2 of us. To be honest, I did ask if this would be enough for 2 people and was told yes it would be, but it wasnt. Quarter chicken, a lamb chop, 2 wings, 4 prawns, corn on cob, 2 pieces of fried plantain, a tiny portion of lukewarm mac n cheese (I did enjoy it though, its a shame that it was premade as the cheese was chewy - I understand not being able to cook fresh pasta every time but at least put it under the grill or in the over after putting fresh cheese on), seasoned chips and rice n pea (which was very dry). Okay the jerk chicken itself was amazing, piping hot, juicy, succulent and perfectly cooked. I usually dont prefer jerk flavours but I really enjoyed this, had a nice gravy around it which was a great combo when dipping the chips and corn on cob. The lamb chop was good - slightly undercooked but definitely flavoursome. The prawns were fine, nothing special but i enjoyed the red sauce it was smothered in. Its a shame about the mac n cheese as I did enjoy the flavour but was thinking to myself; if it was thoroughly warmed/heated again and a fresh cheese pull coming from it, would’ve been the showstopper. The plantain, I thought it would be crispy as it said fried but it was just soggy and mushy, couldn’t tell what i was eating at all. The atmosphere is lovely, felt like a real shack vibe with the outdoor seating and all. Staff are really friendly and approachable too. I feel like for £27 that plate, felt overpriced for the amount that was there. (It might seem full but its a bed of rice n pea and half a plate of chips which shouldn’t cost much). Felt like I wasted my money a little bit and we were both still very hungry after but didn’t want to risk ordering more and receiving another disappointing small portion. Perfect for one person to eat for sure. Won’t be coming again but if you’re about, and craving jerk chicken, get it from this place! Note: food is halal but they do have a bar inside serving alcohol. Music is a little loud inside so outdoor seating would be better if you like talking to each other whilst eating. Resident Parking all around - no permit needed.

Overpriced £18.00 for oven cooked jerk chicken and a very small amount of rice and peas, small amount of chips it tasted okay but definitely not £18.00 for a small portion I’ve had better for £10.00

Shabbas kitchen is something different the flavours hit different 10/10 nothing to complain about staff very friendly and provide an excellent service. The jerk one is one of my favourites. And the cocktails 🍹 mmmmmmm hmmmmmmm 🔥💙💯 Thank you shabba for the wonderful experience. Will be back very soon.
