Just unreal! Never have I felt so tended to at a restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious. Not one course was a let down. So flavoursome and inventive. I can’t wait to visit again!

This was the first time we’d been but won’t be our last. The place, the food, the staff everything about this place was impressive. Every serving was unique and it was so lovely to have such an amazing Vegan menu and not the sane thing as everywhere else. We both loved it.

I absolutely loved the vegan menu at V&V. I can quite honestly say it was the first time I’ve ever really tasted passion, creativity and depth through food. My boyfriend and I noted one dish in particular where we went through a journey of emotions! Well done Chef Jono! Thanks for a thought provoking and memorable experience :)

I took my partner to Chef Jono at V&V for their birthday, and it was an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the service went above and beyond to make the evening special, with thoughtful touches throughout—including a signed menu, which was a lovely keepsake. The team was incredibly accommodating, adjusting the menu seamlessly to meet our dietary needs without compromising on creativity or flavor. Every dish was a taste sensation, meticulously crafted and presented with precision and elegance. The food and drink pairings were flawless, elevating each course and showcasing the best of seasonal British produce in a modern and innovative way. Yes, it’s a pricey experience—our bill came to over £300—but for the exceptional quality of food, service, and attention to detail, it was absolutely worth it. If you're looking for a truly memorable fine dining experience, Chef Jono at V&V is an outstanding choice. Highly recommended!

Signature tasting menu: access to the restaurant is difficult, three flights of very steep steps, on entering the restaurant it was very brightly lit which highlighted the very tired and worn appearance of the restaurants fixtures and fittings, it is a very small floor space with tables too close together. The food: the first two courses were excellent, the gunpowder hummus was very well presented, light and flavoursome, the malt loaf was also excellent - very moist. Unfortunately, from there on things went downhill, The ramen broth was lukewarm, with a raw egg in the bottom of it, this is not everyone's taste. The French onion soup whilst quite flavoursome, did have a greasy after taste; the fish and chips were a joke, so-called chips were sprinkles and looked like they had been poured straight from a snack pack, the fish was buried in a very rich and heavy green pea sauce, the fish was quite tough and watery, and quite clearly overcooked. The steak and ale dish was also buried beneath a very rich and heavy sauce, and there were lumps of gristle in steak which could not be eaten. The mango coconut lime was once again excellent, very light very flavoursome, but the shiitake mushroom tiramisu once again was very heavy and rich and overly sweet. Shiitake mushrooms are my favourite mushroom when cooking at home and are great when presented with steak or chicken however they certainly did not work for us in desserts. It is my opinion that the rich and heavy sauces, which overwhelmed several of the dishes, were just a good vehicle to disguise the poor quality of the dishes main ingredients. Price for a 175ml glass of wine was £14. The tasting menu for two was bought as a gift, but when it came to scan the voucher at the end of the meal, we were told was only £75 on it, the cost of the tasting menu was £79 per person excluding service charge. Our bill was over £200, with just 2 drinks, we paid the extra and informed the gift giver of them saying it a was only £75, not the £158 it should have been. Understandably she was not happy about us being over charged so much and contacted the restaurant manager who was very helpful and polite. However, she then received a phone call from chef Jono who was obnoxious and rude regarding the matter. The money has now been refunded but we will not be returning or recommending this venue. I wonder how many times they have got away with this “mistake” due to the person was received the gift being too embarrassed to go back to the person was given the gift.

Will not be returning The positives were excellent service, and a couple of the dishes on the 7 course taster menu. The gunpowder hummus was amazing and the coconut, mango and lime rice pudding were brilliant. Venue accessibility very poor, up a couple of flights of stairs on the outskirts of the city centre in a tired building. Certainly not London’s Mayfair… though prices would be more acceptable there. Particularly bad were the raw egg cool soup, steak and ale pie with huge piece of gristle and mushroom tiramisu… and to boot only one bathroom for the whole restaurant! Not ideal when you’re feeling nauseous. Cooking was adventurous, though presentation wasn’t…saving grace on that aspect was the tableware. Had expected better.

Had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Vice and Virtue last night with the kids. Chef Jono is, without a doubt, the best chef in Leeds—his creativity and attention to detail shine through in every dish. The food was nothing short of phenomenal, and the drinks pairings, including the bespoke non-alcoholic option made just for me, were out of this world. The service was impeccable—attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The whole experience was elevated by the amazing atmosphere, making it the perfect place for a special night out. We had to miss a previous booking, and to my surprise, Chef Jono went out of his way to prepare some of his legendary Rhaman Broth for me to take home to my wife—a true testament to the hospitality and passion at Vice and Virtue. If you're looking for exceptional food, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and first-class service, this is the place to go. Absolutely five stars—highly recommended!

My second Sunday dinner here at V&V and I have to say for the price of the meal (£49) and drinks pairing (£39), I felt it was good value. I have paid much more in other places and been left thoroughly disappointed, but not here. All of our party of 4 walked away very full and very happy. It's one I could really see myself hitting up a few times per year. I have yet to try Chef Jono midweek menu but I do hope to do it in 2025. I will return and urge others to give it a go too!

A very enjoyable evening out of Chef Jono. Our first visit but we were made to feel extremely welcome. The manager offering to take our coats to the cloakroom then asking if we had any dietary requirements or special needs. Cool tap water was available throughout the evening, drinks were served promptly after ordering. We had the 12 course signature tasting menu. It had a large range of dishes, a highlight being the absolutely superb "not French onion soup" The wait staff were attentive, introduced each dish clearly and were on hand to answer any questions. Portion sizes were just right and by the time we'd finished we couldn't eat any more. The speed of service was a fraction too fast. You'd just finished a course and had the plates removed and it felt like the next course arrived straight after. I'm not asking for 15 minutes between courses, but a little bit longer to allow you to savour each course would be my preference. The music was needed to help the ambience and not overhear other tables, but depending on where you were sitting, it was just that bit too loud for conversation. The tall male waiter topped up our water and managed to drip on the table or cutlery every single time. It's such a small thing, but having to wipe the table with the serviette each time shouldn't be necessary. We'd like to specifically mention Darcy. What a lovely young lady and an absolute credit to your business. She was pleasant, easy to talk to and made you feel like she was genuinely interested in what you had to say. At no point in the evening did we feel rushed or pressured to finish. The lack of light in the entrance to the toilets is a mistake. It needs a dim light, just so you aren't walking into a pitch black room. I observed numerous people walking in and feeling the walls looking for the door. Speaking to the wait staff, it seems like they haven't actually tasted every dish. So when asking about a particular course, they were unable to answer from experience. Seems a strange thing for a restaurant of this level. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant, but could be improved.

Stunning experience, adapted food as much as they could for wife’s garlic intolerance. Only thing missing was able to have a jus with the Sunday dinner as that meant her Yorkshire pudding was dry. But flavour combinations, combined with high quality cooking blew our minds. The service was high class and is how hospitality should be done, just brilliant from everyone making us feel so welcome. The signed menu was a nice touch. One of the best food experiences ever

Some dishes on the tasting menu were lovely, but so many heavy dairy dishes left me unable to finish or really enjoy the last few courses. I'd expect a much more comprehensive drinks offering from a restaurant offering fine dining. Service was efficient but felt forced and didn't have the charm I'd have expected. Think I maybe caught them on an off night, and I would try them again, maybe for a Sunday lunch. Update - I returned in January to give them another try. Lovely and friendly service but unfortunately the foods are still way too heavy on the dairy and left me and my partner with upset stomachs. Everything is served in bowls to 'mix up' and other than buttering my malt loaf, I didn't need a knife at all. I might give Sunday lunch a go or try the vegan menu, but definitely wouldn't give their tasting menu a try for a fourth time. Sorry folks -- really did want to like you but think this style just isn't for me. It's very clear the dishes are nostalgic twists inspired by classics, but I'd probably rather have an actual steak pie or prawn cocktail. The texture of the egg against the cream in the ramen broth starter is really unpleasant, but mushroom tiramisu and the not French onion soup are rich but delicious. We went with the 50% off promo which I thought was a fair price, but don't think this can justify £80 a head compared to other places in Leeds.

Odd one for me this. I want to preface with...my god, this man can cook. Chef Jono's food is incredible. Beautiful flavours, expertly seasoned, and served exquisitely. My issues here are the pacing and the dish choices, meaning that I currently would NOT recommend the signature tasting menu, and would instead recommend the lunch tasting menu or Sunday roast. In terms of dish choice, it was a lot of dense and rich food. The mackerel course was the only one that felt light, and there were no one-biters. Again want to state that the food quality is exceptional. The (excellent) malt loaf should have been a third of the size, and the (incredible) Not French Onion Soup almost finished us off, and that was halfway through. Adding to this, the pacing of the courses was too fast. I've never been to a full tasting menu that was done in two hours. We were almost done after one. Thankfully, service staff noticed and asked if we needed a break after the main courses. We did. We were uncomfortable. Finally, I think the decor needs a little work. We were sat with a light overhead that felt like we were in an interrogation. So bright. Really distracting, although excellent for food photos. We'd ask for a different table next time. So yeah. Can't speak highly enough of the food or the staff, but the tasting menu needs some more thought.

We had dinner here this evening and it was really bad. It’s not that the dishes were well considered but badly executed. They were just a bad idea from start to finish, with far too much cream so that everyone left feeling quite sick. The mushroom tiramisu was truly disgusting.

From the moment we arrived , the staff were absolutely immaculate, not over the top, just very welcoming, kind and, clearly passionate about the restaurant. After following Chef Jono on masterchef, who in my mind, was the most innovative and creative in that particular season, I was keen to see for myself. By the time we got to course 3 of the signature menu, I cried. It was that good, and I’ve eaten at most Michelin restaurants in the area and further afield. I have never before cried tears of joy from tasting food until last night. A huge 5 stars from me to the entire team. Thank you so much!

We booked in for the Sunday Lunch Taster menu. What an incredible experience. The venue is small and intimate feeling, but not so crowded that you feel cramped. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. You can look into the kitchen and see the chefs at work. Once shown to our table, we were offered the menu and the drinks list. I was unable to try the drinks pairing with the meal as I was driving. There was a wide range of drinks available, including several alcohol free choices. The food was simply delicious. From the snacks through the courses to the desserts. Each dish a piece of art, both visually and culinary. I couldn't choose a favorite as they were all so good. In terms of portion size, perfection. Any larger and I wouldn't have managed them all and I'm a big hungry guy!!! All in all, and amazing meal in an incredible intimate venue. Thank you Chef Jono and all the team.

Oh my goodness!! We visited today - Sunday 11th August. Our first time here and it definitely won't be our last . The restaurant is accessed by a rather steep staircase but you already get the vibe that this is a special place as soon as you open the door. The decor is quite dark and subtly dramatic and is complemented by stylish table settings. We were greeted by chef Jono as soon as we arrived from his open kitchen (really interesting to have a snapshot of this efficient, well-organised and well-staffed working kitchen). Our servers were very attentive (Lily in particular was a standout star). They were lovely, professional and had a really friendly and fun manner when explaining the components of each dish from our Sunday lunch tasting menu. Now for the food..... It was totally awesome with some really inspired combinations of ingredients. I won't go into lots of detail because you really need to go and taste it for yourself. If you consider the number of staff involved, the fresh ingredients and the number of different and sometimes unusual ingredients that feature in this menu, then it really is not expensive at all. I expected very small portions but I can honestly say the plates/dishes were filling and collectively left us both more than satisfied. It was an amazing experience. Thank you all at Chef Jono at V and V. Liz and Brian Hill

My partner and I had the signature menu with drinks pairing. The staff were excellent and friendly. Some of the courses were excellent such as the ox tongue, however others weren’t well executed. The masala fish was far too strong and acidic, and texturally didn’t work as well as other dishes. The drinks pairing on the whole was fine, but the amount of variation between different wines, cocktails, sake, and port proved to be too much for both of us and didn’t sit well with the food meaning I was unfortunately sick. The whole experience was very rushed despite the restaurant not being very busy, with one course and drinks following immediately after the last, to the point that we had to ask for 10 minutes breather between service. This definitely impacted on the overall enjoyment. The restaurant its self, the music, and overall ambience was very nice. All in all when compared with similar restaurants we’ve visited in Yorkshire for tasting menus, it did not come close in quality and execution unfortunately.

We thought we were having a good time until the very end after we paid the bill we’re told apparently too loud and rude to people - strange no one said anything through the 3 hours we were there or before paying… took a lot of the shine off it - nice idea but bad execution for the price. - in general, the food was good, however, our main course, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, was very chewy so we could not eat it - the mushroom risotto was excellent 👌🏼 - very standard choices of ingredients, very safe and classy combinations. Nothing super exciting or new but overall was good. The major concern, however, is the atmosphere in the restaurant: 1. 80s music does not suit the fine dining restaurant - sorry! Neither rock nor exciting/ happy vibes. It does distract from enjoying and tasting food (more than opened curtains🥲). Some soft jazz, sunset lounge, and chill lounge would be much better. 2. The waiters presented dishes just reading off the menu - I can read, would be nice to know a bit more about a dish. Where the ingredients came from etc. 3. It was dark during our lunch meal. Fine idea to close the curtains but think about the music, which goes in the loop of 1h45mins Comparing to other, this restaurant is lucky to have a Michelin star

It's good but left me feeling like I wanted slightly more and slightly less, cheese board was overly huge, roast beef yorkshire pudding macaroni cheese, was great if I'd been in my local pub but wasn't what I expected here. Yet the risotto was brilliant. The service was friendly and helpful but disappointed by the music which was too loud for us as they where trying to fill the whole restaurant from one speaker and we where close too it, I suggest more speakers lower volume on each. Lighting, it took us a while to realise that we where occasionally pitched into darkness and then brightly illuminated again, it was all to do with the hot lamps for the kitchen going on and off very off putting. Overall, I've been before and will probably go again but on this occasion was slightly disappointed.

I decided to visit Chef Jono at Vice & Virtue, very impromptu, at the beginning of December. My experience was impeccable. To start, the team Jono has are absolutely excellent. The team serving consisted of Abbie, Ben, Sean, Max, and Yasmine - I purposely asked for all their names to mention them, because they truly defined my experience and made my evening. Abbie and Ben helped me understand the links between what I was eating and what I was drinking. The food spoke for itself; delicate yet bold, profoundly subtle and overall, pleasurable to eat. I could write a whole article about my evening at Vice and Virtue, however I’m still here and feel I’m not taking in the experience to the full. If there’s one thing you should do in 2024; visit Chef Jono and his team.

Everything we expected, food and service was excellent, the depth of the tasting menu was really good, with a few risky dishes on there and a few old favourites. Located in a great area of Leeds so you can really make a night of it. Would definitely go back again, just need to tone down some of the lighting which takes away some of the ambience. A dimmer switch would suffice, otherwise a great night. Thank you.

We came to Chef Jono for my boyfriend’s birthday and had the tasting menus: regular for me and pescatarian for him. All of the dishes were an explosion of flavours and creativity. The staff were very attentive (a signed menu for my boyfriend as a birthday gift, a wave goodbye from chef Jono himself when we left) and considering the number and the quality of dishes you get the price wasn’t over the top. We had a great time and a fantastic culinary experience. Thank you.

Just spot on. No disappointments there. Food brilliantly thought through and beautifully crafted/presented. Interesting, unusual sometimes but it all worked well both individually as courses and as a whole. Watch out behind that curtain.

Overall Jono at V&V was a worthwhile experience. Some really good food and friendly service. Not particularly expensive and certainly not a place I regret spending an evening. The Good Bits Overall the food was really interesting. We had the 5 course menu. The chicken liver cereal was an interesting deconstructed ‘pate on toast’. The roast onion and Parmesan was tasty with great texture, like a chunky French onion soup, but not a soup! The haddock was good too as was the chocolate dessert (not a fan of eating ants though!!) Staff were really friendly and attentive, without being overly intrusive. The Bits that could be better The ‘sweet and sour’ chicken wasn’t great. Let down I think by bad chicken. Stringy, tough and not in the same league as the rest of the meal. Only part of the food experience that was below par. Was surprised it left the kitchen like that. Asked about dessert wine as there isn’t one on the wine list (there is a perfectly good Muscat in the wine flight). Was pointed to the digestif section which had no wines at all on it. Odd that a server would think a desert wine is the same as a Baileys, port, brandy or a Kahlua -but they did serve us a glass of the muscat. Lastly, the lighting is a touch on the bright side. I’d be tempted to get some decent white table cloths and tone the lighting down a notch. But maybe I’m just being overly picky!

We’re always very conscious of booking fine dining restaurants due to my gluten intolerance so always check ahead of time as we understand adapting a set tasting menu can be difficult however - V&V is marketed as gluten intolerant friendly, and I’d suggest this is not quite the case if you’re expecting a GF menu of the same standard as the original. We were served the second course first without communication that we weren’t going to be getting the first(?!) the bread course was quite clearly shop bought Genius (or similar) bread which is the spongiest and blandest on the market. Dishes skipped the sauce due to the ingredients having gluten in, which made them also bland. Most courses lacked the element of having ingredients you wouldn’t expect to go together, work and therefore wow you which you’d expect for an almost Michelin star priced menu. The good parts!! We had a dish swapped out due to the restrictions and were given a Thai-style peanut/coriander/courgette/lychee plate which had the experimental/imaginative Michelin quality described above - please put this on the regular menu! The final dessert was prepared/developed by one of the other chefs and it was absolutely beautiful - crumbed carrot cake and chocolate mousse (this was the winner). The service was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Tableware and crockery for each dish were at the standard you’d expect for fine dining and a lovely touch. I personally loved the atmosphere, the playlist was fun and created a great vibe. Overall as someone with dietary restrictions I won’t be returning, however my experience is not the norm, so I wouldn’t take this as gospel if you are not the same.

Don't think for a minute this is a taster menu where you'll leave hungry, or that it's quantity over quality. Every course is superb, staff just the right level of attentiveness and the wine delicious. Accommodates around 30 covers which is just right for a great atmosphere and music was spot-on, chosen by chef Jono apparently. Loved it, can't think of anywhere if recommend more.

Had the signature menu with drinks pairings. I especially loved the ox tongue, and the mushroom tiramisu. My only complaint would be there wasn't much gap between courses, would have liked a bit longer to let each course settle

Third visit and this place just gets better and better. Have eaten at many Michelin star restaurants and Jono beats them all hands down. Drinks pairings are not stingy unlike other places, you get a decent serving. Service impeccable too.

Sunday lunch here as a birthday treat for my daughter was a treat for all of us. The food is delicious and we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes too - this is not fancy nouvelle cuisine with tiny bits of food - its superbly cooked plates of tasty grub guaranteed to make you leave happy and well-fed. Super service too - the only thing I would change is turn down the music a touch but overall this is a great venue and we will return soon as we can.

Would highly reminded V&V! As a person with dairy/gluten intolerance, V&V was able to cater my dietary requirements without any problems. I chose the Vegan taster menu (due to my dietary needs) and my husband chose the standard menu with wine paring. Being not the biggest alcohol drinker, sharing the wine paring with my husband was perfect. I was able to sample each wine but not feel too tipsy! Also, As a meat eater, I would definitely say that I didn’t feel I was missing out for choosing the vegan menu. There was only the pea and lamb dish I would have enjoyed more from the standard menu, however my husband said he would have preferred the courgette/lychee/peanut dish from my menu, so there was dishes from both menus that we both preferred. The dishes that stood out on the vegan menu was the not so onion soup and courgette/lychee/peanut. My husband said the Jamie dodger, lamb and pea were his favourite. Staff were knowledgeable, attentive and really helpful. The restaurant was relaxed, great play list and nice to see the open kitchen and chefs cooking including chef Jono. Overall a great meal and would visit again for sure!

A truly Tragic affair. Food created from ego rather than passion. When will they stop desperately hanging onto the idea that Chef Jono had his 15 minutes of fame on Masterchef and actually focus on creating a meaningful, thought out menu where you are not stuffed by the 3rd course. After Jono signed a menu and sent it to our table I couldn't help but picture him in the walk in, rubbing himself off over the unlikely idea that we would cherish this 'relic' for years to come. An absolute car crash of a meal, be sure to go to 'Home' instead if tasting menus are your thing.

If you're wanting a casual introduction into fine dining I'd defiantly recommend chef jono. The food was exceptional and the service was out of this world (would give 6 stars if I could) the male bartender could answer all the questions we wanted and was so full of knowledge. Didn't manage to get any pictures of the food because we was having such a lovely time celebrating our 5 year anniversary. The chef even went out of his way to sign us a menu. Would definitely put chef jono in the top 5 fine dining restaurant I've been too. We also booked to go back in a couple of months it was that good!

We had Sunday lunch here today and it was great. The food was really good, and it was fun to bring the fine dining/tasting menu concept to a Sunday roast. We particularly enjoyed the vinegar butter and the lamb/pea/mint course. Good selection of cocktails on the menu. The service was brilliant: a really friendly and attentive team added to the experience. Very much deserving of a Michelin Guide recommendation, so it's a shame it didn't make it this year. One suggestion: too many potatoes were served with the beef: as part of such a large meal, I think a couple of less potatoes per bowl would be absolutely fine (you could always offer extra if required). Good playlist too!

Dined here last night for my birthday, what an amazing place!! . I’ve been a big fan of Chef Jono since watching him on Masterchef the Professionals but this is the first chance I’ve had to visit his restaurant and I was not disappointed. The taster menu was a great mix of different tastes and flavours. Staff were excellent and the setting is lovely tables not to close together so not too noisy. We were here for our sons 21st and couldn't have been a better choice. The joy of a taster menu, aside from variety is that you have a full 3 hour evening of chat, food and drink. What could be better.

We had a fab meal at @ chef Jono. The service was fantastic without being over bearing. Nice atmosphere, not over pretentious and music playing which was a welcomed treat. So that set the night up nicely. As for the food. Well. The boy can cook of that there is no doubt. Every course was mouth watering. For once I can say that I left a tasting menu meal surprisingly full as well. We had the vegetarian tasting menu. The main of salt baked celeriac was delicious. I believe that the rest of the menu followed the meat version. However can’t be sure? I can’t comment on the drinks served as I don’t drink. I would say there looked to be a lot of happy faces around the place. That can’t be a bad sign. I will definitely be back to see what comes next.
