This is our second visit to this little cafe. The first time we were returning from our trip to The Sofa Sofa showrooms further up the valley and were looking for somewhere to eat lunch. It was a Thursday - Roast day! It was such good food, excellent value and very friendly that we decided to return. This time we chose from the menu, which is fairly basic but with lots of choice. We both had gammon, egg and chips. Huge portions, beautifully cooked, and as before, friendly service. It is worth searching out if you are in the area.

The Pros - Nice place and reasonably priced. Battered sausage was nice, gravy was pretty standard. The cons - Chips were pale, soggy, but tasted bottom end of OK. The pies are foul, tried a chicken and a steak and I can only assume they come from ALDI or LIDL, went in the bin. Irish curry had absolutely no flavour Battered pineapple was awful, soggy batter and rock hard pineapple, seriously, how did you manage to achieve that?! S

1 Pentwyn Road, Blackwood NP12 1HN WalesCelebrated my husbands birthday here last night. Such a lovely warm, cosy atmosphere. The food was incredible, and the waiting staff were first class. We had such a special night, thank you to the team for their hard work. We will definitely be returning
