Charmouth Fish Bar and Pizzeria in West Dorset

We called in here one evening as we were staying locally and fancied fish and chips. The food here is beautiful and we felt very reasonably priced given the ever increasing cost of food. They serve the usual suspects you’d expect to find at a chippy plus pizzas, hot dogs and a huge selection of ice creams and sundaes if you want dessert too. The other thing to mention is that this place is absolutely spotlessly clean. You can order using a self-serve kiosk like in a McDonalds or KFC, at the counter or via an app which made it really easy. We waited just 10 minutes or so for our food on a busy Friday heading into a bank holiday weekend. We drove down to the beach to eat our food and it was delicious. We both ate every morsel, no greasiness or horrible oily taste just beautiful fish and chips with salt and vinegar. If we’re in the area we’ll definitely be back!

Very decent fish and chips, and the pizza is very good. They offer a good selection of ciders and ice creams. The kids meals were good too. Not too expensive either and good option on the go.

We came here on a whim and weren’t disappointed. Ordered on a McDonalds type screen (you can order at the counter too) and waited around 30 mins for our food. Understandable due to being unstaffed (as a sign posted in the shop itself) and being a lovely warm evening. The chips were crispy and delicious along with cod bites, battered sausage and curry sauce. At time of ordering you request salt and vinegar. I did go back and get extra as I couldn’t taste it-but I do usually have them swimming! 😆Would definitely visit again if I’m ever back in Charmouth! 10/10.

We visited Charmouth last night and stopped here upon our arrival, we used to come here often when the little walkway was on the side and you’d order down the path to the left of the building. The wait was extremely long but we were told by a local people preorder online so we ended up doing this as well, although I do think that isn’t fair on people who cannot use online systems and then have an even longer wait. We waited a good half an hour for our food, although the food was average and standard for a chip shop, but expensive (expected when they are the only ones open for these hours) . The ordering system is a bit naff, long waits and confusion for people while ordering, waiting and collecting, after visiting the beach we decided to come back and order some ice creams and slushies - we stood by the hatch and had a young boy stare at us and say nothing, waited a bit longer and asked if anyone was serving the ice creams to be told we need to go inside and order on the online things. Probably a mistake and we should have left it specifically after the way the presumably owner spoke to customers. We waited a 25/30 minutes for three ice creams. We understand it was a Sunday evening during the school holidays and not many places are open, which is understandable however the huge waits, rude staff and lack of attentive service was off putting, perhaps more staff needed during peak times?

Called in here whilst stopping in Charmouth on our south coast tour, checked the website for gluten-free food and was delighted to find they offered some options. Ordered a pizza for my wife and a steamed fish for me which was gluten free. I enquired about the chips and were they gluten free, yes but we do cook everything else in the same pans! So you cook fish, scampi, sausage, fish cake etc in with the chips ? Yes but we do filter the oil regularly!!! I cancelled my order and went to the campsite restaurant where I got a full gluten free meal. My concern is about the knowledge of the staff and do they understand the consequences of someone like me eating gluten? What about vegan, vegetarian, people with a shellfish allergy? Do they know what the chips are cooked with? I’m sure a small investment of some basket fryers to cook all the extras like scampi etc would eradicate this problem and allow you to solely cook chips in the pans.

Absolutely delicious pizza. You had to wait a fair while as it was so busy, but definitely worth the wait. We had the 12” vegetarian pizza with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers and cheese.

Below average experience unfortunately. Initially, ordering seemed vastly better than our last visit as we were able to do click and collect online and book a collection slot. Previously we had to queue for what seemed like an eternity although the food was actually very nice on this occasion. However, upon arrival this time, it was evident that the fancy digital ordering system had completely failed. We were very rudely ejected from the shop and the doors were virtually closed in our faces! No further food could be ordered. Eventually our order appeared although this was way beyond our allocated time slot. Whilst standing waiting, I had witnessed other orders missing items and so decided to unwrap our items to check and sure enough, discovered we had no chips! Was very pleased I didn’t find this out once we’d returned to Axminster but only when we got home did we realise the chilli sauce was also missing from our calamari. Food - chips dry and not really very nice (not sure they had been salt and vinegar’d as per our order). Calamari were hugely greasy. Battered cod was nice as were whitebait. Overall below average. The serving staff were doing everything they could to resolve the situation and were brilliant. My feeling is that this place has got a bit too ‘big for its boots’. Traditional fish and chips it should be. Not like a motorway service station experience with order screens and digital queuing systems which clearly aren’t helping.

Fantastic food as always! The portion sizes are great value, and the fish was lovely with a light batter. The vegetarian with us had the cheese and beans topped chips! Massive portion, and she was in heaven. I arrived an hour early ( my mistake) for my online order, and they did my order early and were very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

Was really looking forward to the meal. Friday night in school holidays so fast paced so fresh food and reviews were great I thought. Food was ready when we arrived to pick it up after ordering online. However the chips tasted of very old oil as did the calamari and they were really greasy. It tasted like copious salt was added to try to disguise it making it virtually inedible. I hope to return for a more positive experience is summer.

Promptly served by a friendly member of staff. The cod and chips were freshly cooked, waited less than 10minutes even though it was a fairly busy Friday evening. We ate them on the beach. The batter on the cod was light and crispy- delicious! Good portion for a medium sized fish and chips. Would recommend.

Had fish & chips a few times and they’ve always been fine, however… I ordered large fish and large chips, well the fish was most certainly not large by any standards. Plenty of chips but the large fish is just a joke. £14.20 is a lot of money for large fish & Chips, especially when the fish is £9.40 alone.

Recently moved to the area and drove here on a Saturday evening. Although it was 7pm and meant to close at 8pm the door was locked. Several people inside and the door was opened by a very nice young lad after I knocked on the door. My friend asked if he could have cod and chips but told there was no chips... then was told he could have medium chips!! The lady and gent cooking had chips on their shoulders (pardon the pun) and gave us daggers for some reason... I then asked for burger by itself to be told no burger buns... I opted for a hot dog no chips. As we were leaving the owner? told the young lad to keep the door open as there were some chips left!!!! The hot dog roll was stale and the hot dog tasted awful. The fish and chips were less than ok. I will never go back and will drive to Axminster fish and chip shop which is lovely.

Would rate ten out of ten if optionable be best fish and chip shop you ever tasted . Ate the menu my self . All to my self ! All this menu has been bought and tasted by me over these recent years an all can say is GET IN BROTHER we would bought this every day if we lived down south not just visiting fam in laws at Christmas ! one thing I recommend an thats to add cheese melt dipping sauce like hot nacho cheese. Would not take off a point for nout having this but if I had to advice you on improving your work I would say add this on . Keep doing what doing my brother my friend because you are champions . Nothing comes close to being as good as this food thank you for your service ! We booked online and then picked up at set time. Easy to do and meant I did t have to wait 15 minutes in the shop like most of the people were doing when I went to collect. We had pizza ( which was lukewarm warm as had sat under heated lamp for a while) and chips and curry sauce- which were delicious.

Got to say this is one of the best fish and chips my wife has had, I had the whitebait and that was spot on, great portion size and easy ordering

Using the online booking system...it took two of us almost half an hour to successfully make our booking for eleven !! It was not at all simple to use. Then, when we collected the food, we discovered we were four pieces of fish short ! In their favour the fish bar handled the problem well and gave us extra fish and chips to compensate The main criticism would be the booking system.

We had the cod, hake and the steak pasties. I have to say that the cod and hake from here was the best I had all week compared to other chippies in Lyme Regis. It was freshly cooked, moist, very fresh with a crispy batter. The only disappointment was the so called steak pasties, these economy style pasties, just filled with a brown mush with no discernable steak detected. I'd be happy to pay more for a decent pasty. So my advice is to get the fish but give the pasties a miss. Didn't have any chips so can't comment.

Very popular but efficient service and the Fish & Chips are excellent. There are tables outside, if like me you arrived on a motorcycle its not easy (or safe) to shove a hot bag of fish & chips up your jacket to eat elsewhere so that was a godsend. The locals are friendly too so the few minutes wait allowed a chance to have a friendly chat.

I ordered 2 cod, 1 large portion of chips, 1 mushy peas and 2 curry sauce. I waited for order to be completed. Once completed my number was called and the lady only put in one curry sauce. Told her I’d ordered two. She told me she would get another. Then proceeded to hand it to me not in a bag and the curry sauce running down the pot. We got back to our holiday place. We have the same meal at home. The large chips that were £4.80 were ridiculous. They were served in a small polystyrene holder. This wasn’t even a child’s portion of chips let alone a large. However the fish was the best I’d tasted the peas and curry sauce were hot. Chips were very small and very average. Slightly disappointing after all the amazing reviews. Well done fryer on the fish though as this was great.

We ordered from this eatery via 'click-and-collect' and were very impressed that our food was ready right on time. This fish-and-chip shop can get very busy and we found that a great way to order. Our food was delicious and we will certainly use them again when staying in Charmouth.

Our chips were dehydrated and most likely old chips that were microwaved. Unbelievably bad!!! Avoid

Our first time in Charmouth and first time at this chip shop. We ordered chips and fish cake and peas. The fish cake and peas were ok, but the chips were terrible.. I’m pretty sure they were recooked from earlier in the day as they tasted old and they had that smell of when you reheat chips, then to make it worse.. I found a long grey hair in the chips. At this point I gagged and threw them away. Such a shame.

We have stayed in charmouth many times and always used this chippy,it’s changed a bit the restaurant has gone and it’s been modernised inside. I have to say that despite reading other reviews about long waiting times and rude staff nothing could be further from the truth the staff are lovely and the fish and chips are to die for the fish is cooked perfectly and there are plenty of chips, if there is a bit of a wait at busy times it’s well worth it!.

This place is so busy we thought it must be good and we weren't disappointed! Couldn't get a slot for click and collect as they'd all been taken until 8.30 so decided to just go and queue if necessary. Our order was taken quickly and we ony waited a short time before the food arrived. Absolutely delicious - fish really well cooked with not too heavy batter and nice chips. Staff were really polite and friendly too. Thank you!

Great fish and chip shop with additional bonus of catering to different dietary requirements! Good selection of gluten free options including fish and pizza. Veggie options also, Fair price. Would 100% recommend doing click and collect!

Very tasty fish and chips….highly recommend the cod bites! Boozy Moos are delicious but a little bit milky, a great addition to the meal never the less. They say you know a good eatery when they run a queue and this is the case at this little place, waited about 40 mins for our food but we were lucky enough to to secure an outside table…..service was friendly and I def recommend

We went here on Monday evening at around opening time there was an incredibly long queue, and people turning up for telephone orders. The owner of this fish bar should be incredibly proud of his staff there were working really hard. We waited about 30minutes in a queue and the girl that took our order was very polite and apologised for the our wait. But the wait was so worth it, fabulous fish & chips!! Will be returning tomorrow evening.

Coming from someone who had ran an incredibly popular and successful fish & chip shop. I genuinely do not write reviews as I can appreciate how difficult it can be at times coming from a hospitality/ food & beverage background. The staff on hand didn’t have a clue. Several young girls with nobody taking the lead in getting orders prepared and severed in an acceptable time limit. Waiting half an hour for 2 fish and chip meals isn’t acceptable given there was no que! They must’ve served a couple of orders in this period. Waiting half an hour when there is no one to serve with several staff on hand is never acceptable in this trade. A few telephone orders had ordered curry sauce people were coming back as they didn’t have any. It wasn’t organised in the slightest. The price is one of the most expensive I’ve ever paid but the fish was great. You must have a supervisor manager on hand pushing the staff to get the orders out in an acceptable time. Not “shall I do this one? How about you do that?” You could see the other few people waiting we’re getting restless.

Thank you for providing such a good choice of gluten free items on your menu. Its not the easiest thing to accommodate in a busy shop.The bonus here is that the food was first class, (both gluten free and normal!) - I wish we lived nearer.You order online - what a great system for these covid days and it was ready at the time specified. The shop is busy though (high summer) so book early.

This is not your average fish and chip shop! I had Hake and chips first night (Hake!) perfectly cooked, couple of nights later perfect whitebait and Calamari, (look under specialist), current arrangements working really well with Covid and lockdown.

Simply great fish and chips - v.simple ordering system online although you can turn up - extremely busy which I always say is a great sign - serves beer as well so what more can you ask for!!

Lovely food and a slick operation. You can pre-order food for collection which is great given the length of queues and waiting time because of its popularity. We went twice while staying locally - had an issue once with one of our meals which was dealt with professionally by the manageress. The pizza are great - go for the Lyme Belly Buster and add some Roquitto peppers. Can't wait to return next year....

We came back from a long journey to Charmouth for our holiday we were very tired so we neded a lovely meal from the fish bar and pizzeria and that was exactly what we got. The pizza was impeccable with flavour at every taste! The fish and chips were also as amazing and tasty as the pizza! The next day we returned as we were delighted of the quality that they served so we popped into the shop and brought some ice-cream. The ice-cream was delicious and at a nice price.We eould highly recommend it

So disappointing, thought we would have a lovely fresh chippy lunch - it wS horrid -chips tasted like they were 3 days old -fish was the thinnest slither ever !I don't mind paying good money but I expect a decent portion - swerve it !!

We were really looking forward to our holiday fish and chips but couldn't understand 4why, since it's by the sea the fish wasn't fresh?The fish was very dry and the batter lacklustre which was odd consider the wonderful reviews and the reason we went there.Really sad, but never mind, we are having a lovely holiday.

This was a very busy village chippy, it was amazing, loved the food, service was great, we ordered click and collect via the website and turned up at the correct time, waiting a few more minutes which was ok, lots of other people turning up to place orders so get food orders in early

Visited for burgers, sausage and fish & chips. Even though the shop was quiet it still took 30 minutes to get food! Absolute chaos. Very poor food hygiene practice… server using same utensil to scoop chips and open the bin, no hats/nets, did not see one person wash hands, the owner and server had their hands all over the food (no need to handle each chip!), all wearing own clothes which were used to wipe their hands on, environment was filthy, masks only half worn, and so on…. As for the food. It was awful….burgers not cooked properly and tasted of plastic, fish was gritty, chips were dark brown - over cooked, dry and cheap potato, the sausage was actually ok. All ended up in bin. The shop has a monopoly in the area, I only hope competition opens soon as this place has to massively improve their operation.

We came on a Saturday lunch time and it was luckily quiet, there were still 3 tables free outside as we ordered our chips, rolls and curry sauce. The staff were lovely and helpful checking ingredients of the curry sauce to check if it was suitable for vegans etc. The chips didn't take long to come out and were lovely, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

We visited last Sunday. It was a beautiful day so people had obviously flocked from the beach for fish and chips. There was a queue but it was about 10 people so we thought we would wait. The queue took 1 hour. Shocking but we had already committed and didn't know the area so we stayed. When we got to the front we could see what the hold up was.3 members of staff were working and all of them were packing 1 order. It was chaos. No system and no one seemed to know what was going on. 1 girls job seemed to be holding carrier bags open. Why wasn't 1 person doing online orders. 1 doing instore orders and the other serving ? After we'd made out order we were told another 45 minute wait. But after waiting that long we were hardly going to walk away.People were coming in to collect online orders and being snapped at by staff saying there was a delay they'd have to wait .. like it was their fault. 1 women came to collect a pizza and was told a 30 minute wait which she couldn't do as she had a child in her car and was literally coming in at the time she had been told !! Eventually our food was done.... they forgot something... by this point we weren't surprised. You need to get processes in place.You need to he polite to your customers The food was ok not worth a 2 hr wait

It’s absolutely incredible how inefficient a chippy can be. Have zero competition probably adds to the questionable success of this place. You can order online but good luck if you don’t decide two days in advance. I managed an online order, stood in line for half an hour to pick it up and was told they were running so far behind that I’d have to wait for another 30-40 minutes. Decently, I was refunded the money. I tried again several days later, utterly unable to believe that even a pre order of chips was only possible with 4 hours lead time. I tried in person. Surely a chippy would be capable of selling an order of chips on the spot? Disappointingly probably not. I’m in a queue that would put the next Apple iPhone release to shame and I sign of urgency from the staff. Hungry times indeed

We popped in for food on Tuesday 1st June. It was exceptionally busy with a long wait. We were happy to wait as it was a similar situation everywhere and we have had food from here on numerous occasions whilst staying nearby, its always good, so knew it would be worth the wait. Because of the wait, some people were being incredibly rude and impatient towards the staff. Despite this, all the staff remained friendly, helpful and polite and professional throughout. Whilst we were waiting, a staff member brought out drinks and wine for those that were waiting and the children were offered ice-cream - what a lovely gesture. 100% recommend, our fish and chips was excellent as usual.

Booked our order and were given a time slot. After waiting patiently and quietly for almost 45 minutes we queried where our food was, it arrived almost immediately accompanied by the irate owner/manager who shouted at us (and the large number of other people who were also waiting quietly) and tried to follow us up the street still shouting that no one understood how busy they were.1. was happy to wait for a bit as we could see they were busy2. don't appreciate being accosted unfairly as we had been very patient3. not sure what is the aim of shouting at your customersBad show Charmouth fish bar, don't think we will be back.

Ordered our food for a 6.50-7 pm collection at 7.25pm where still waiting, several customers who had been waiting longer than us complained about the wait time. Staff came out to say they where running 20mins late, we politely mentioned we had been waiting nearly half an hour by this point. Our food came rushing out a few minutes later followed by the owner who started shouting about people not being understanding, she actually chased me and my mum off the forecourt when I refused to have ‘discussion’ as I wasn’t going to let my long waited for food go cold by standing around to be shouted at. She carried on shouting at the other customers as we walked away. Appalling behaviour and terrible customer service.I appreciate they had a lot of orders as it’s half term but you have 6+ members of staff and what looked like very little organisation. The food was nice but not worth being chased off the premises and shouted at. I would void this chippy and drive to Bridport or Lyme, it’s probably quicker.

Unfortunately it’s a 90 min wait for chips and they insist on your home address to order! Lots of very unhappy customers out the front waiting. We did ask politely for an update but no information was shared so we waited and waited. It went 30 mins past our slot.... I’m sure it will be better when they sort out the online order system tech but they aren’t there yet! When the chips arrived they were burnt.

Despite a lengthy wait due to it being bank holiday the food and customer service we received was excellent. The food was well worth the wait and we will definitely be going back if we are in Charmouth again!

Lots of staff working, but no organisation. Three tills but only one being used to service the massive queue, and even then only from time to time. Unlike any other fish bar I have used which seem to take delight to deal with plentiful customers and serve food. Waited ages to order and then ages to collect. Clearly benefit from no other competition in town. I know they do online ordering, expect 2 hour delay so it’s not realistic, but the odd thing is barely any food leaves even while you are waiting. They could be making a fortune. To top it all off, got back and I’d got the worst ever bisto gravy instead of a mushy peas. Didn’t have the enthusiasm to go and complain. I reckon I could drive to bridport and back quicker than use this place. Fish was really good, as was pizza. Shakes great. Chips soggy and disappointing though.

Ordered online, it was a bit of a faff, but you could book a time slot and pick up and order exactly what you wanted. Have used this place a lot over the years. Portions are smaller and standards have slipped. Chips weren't very crispy. Batter was a bit soggy though fish was nice, but the pea fritters have shrunk almost by half. Very small and pricey now. Disappointing. But the worst bit is you give your name, your email and your mobile number and it is PRINTED on the receipt. So be careful or your personal info might be shared accidentally. This would stop me ordering again.

During our stay in Charmouth we wanted to partake of a traditional 'fish & chip ' supper. We tried their website first, but the limited time slots available meant that driving to the restaurant and ordering 'in-person' was the best option. After ordering, the waiting time was just a few minutes and back at our accommodation we enjoyed a really tasty meal. Delicious fish and a generous helping of chips made for a most enjoyable supper.

My wife had Hake ... and I had a pie. The fish was amazing. Great service ... will be back tomorrow 😀

Disappointing that you can book an order slot and still wait outside for 20 minutes in the cold for food.

We preordered our meal 2 hours before our selected time slot. We had to wait a further 30 mins for for our order only to get it home and it was cold and items missing.Ordered battered sausage and this is what I got( hardly no batter)

Two families wanting to exchange gifts used the facilities on the 12th inst. The young waiter Brook was extremely helpful including taking our orders on the night before and having them ready on our arrival. Good food at a reasonable price.

Placed order and payed for my meals, took over 80 mins to serve. Locals were complaining too. Was closed for the rest of our stay after that!!

Recently paid a visit to this fish/pizza takeaway and was a little disappointed. Situated on the main street in Charmouth. There is parking on the road. We walked passed earlier in the day and noticed that there were signs to say you could pre order your food. I tried phoning up and nobody answered. When it went to answer phone the recorded message told me about the opening times for Thursday. It was Friday. Not able to pre order I walked down and stood in a small queue to order my food. When I got back to my cottage and tried the food it was disappointing. The food was luke warm, the chips were very poor and the fish and roe were average. Pity I was so looking forward to it.

Stayed in Chideock and went to get Friday evening fish and chips - very efficient Covid system - delighted to be able to buy bottles of local beer as well - plaice, cod and calamari went down very well indeed - generous portions - loads of chips - very worthwhile to visit

6 of us dined admirably on fish and chips, it took a while to cook but you couldn't get fresher. Large portions. Very tasty.We came here after disappointing service at The George down the road, and quite frankly we should have come here first. Top job to them. Highly recommend.

Great food, waited a long time for it but think this was more down to covid restrictions to be fair! Fairly priced too

In Charmouth for a long weekend. Took the opportunity to get evening meal from them. Went for medium cod and scampi, plus medium chips. Food took about 20 minutes to cook. Good sized portions and we'll cooked. Also had mushy peas, well why not. Very tasty and we'll priced. Will come again if in the area. Good value for money.

Ate here recently and the fish was amazing! I had a cod fillet burger and my wife had grilled Hake which was great and excellently cooked. It was very busy which was a good sign and we did have to wait a while, but it was worth it. Even in these Covid times, everything was clean queue was orderly, couldn't eat in but could use the small tables outside which we did and benefited from the 'Eat out to help out' scheme which was just a bonus! It was reasonably priced anyhow but service was good, they checked some allergy queries I had and overall were really nice & helpful. But as I said, food was great - highly recommend!

Wonderful takeaway with a few outside tables if you want to dine in. We had pizza on one visit (enormous and delicious!), and fish and chips in the other visit. The fish and chips were really REALLY good. Nice selection of drinks too (alcoholic and non) and the chocolate brownie sundae was AMAZING!

I really don't know how those lovely staff keep a smile on their face! In a very difficult time, they keep happy, polite and professional, even though there are extremely rude customers moaning as they have to wait outside and adhere to the covid regulations. They have addressed the new system with care and attention and it works very well. The pizza I had, the seafood , was faultless. Ample topping, piping hot and very tasty. Well done everyone and as a local i will be returning again and again. Thank you

We have eaten here before, (pre-Covid times) and there's normally plenty of seating. This time (August 2020) we had to queue outside to place our orders. I would strongly recommend pre-ordering food by phone as this place is very popular and the queue can be long (but it was worth the wait). The food is cooked to order and absolutely delicious!! There is a huge menu and they also do a range of local beers. I can definitely recommend the Fish Bar and Pizzeria, simply because the food is so good, freshly cooked and a reasonable price. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. I can't wait for the indoor seating area to be reopened, as the place has a lovely atmosphere. There is some outside seating, but it is very limited.

had a nice sunny day walking the beach at charmouth to seatown , came here for fish and chips at 9pm , very good and realy tasty fish best i have had in a long time

Me and my family visited this establishment today and whilst my daughter was about to pay for takeaway my young daughter needed the toilet. My wife took her to the main door and was completely ignored by 3 members of staff and when the 4th member of staff finally spoke to her.... She was greeted with the following comment... "were not opening them for the likes of you" as if we were some kind of travelling circus add to that the non existent social distencing and our trip to this so called restaurant was a huge thumbs down.... For future reference don't treat your costumers so badly and have some respect for people.... Truly disgusting....!!! And by the way we had dinner somewhere else..!

Myself and my family visited this restaurant today, we were waiting in the que to purchase takeaway. My 2 very young children needed the toilet so I went over to the entrance to ask if they could use the toilet. The 1st staff member completely ignored me twice as she walked past me, I asked the next one politly if the girls could use the toilet. She ignored me as well and walked straight past me. I then asked a 3rd staff member who turned away from me and then a 4th snapped at me, "we won't open our toilets for you"

First night holiday fish & chips. Great choice. Ordering and collection are all Covid safe and socially distanced. Always busy but well worth the short wait for the food. Ordered the medium fish but blimey, you could feed two with it as it was huge. All was delicious and went down a treat.

This is very busy and I would recommend phoning ahead with your order (the menu is available at their website). There are also some vegan and vegetarian choices, including a vegan milkshake which my daughter loved. Quite reasonable prices.

We had fish n chips which were ordered and collected without issue. Fish was tasty and plentiful. No complaints.

Best fish and chips I’ve had and a good selection of local ales. We went on a busy night but certainly worth the wait.

Not the best value. If you are hungry would not use again xlarge should be more than 8"and thicker than a fish finger

Standard seaside fare, with slightly odd opening hours. Nice place to sit outside and friendly staff. Food pretty average.

We've been coming to Charmouth Fish bar for years and always make a point of coming when we are on our hols. This time we had five different meals ordered and although busy (was a Monday) we didn't have to wait that long at all and everything was cooked to order. The kids loved the sausages and chicken pieces and one of them shared my curry sauce and chips. Curry sauce was lush and nice to see decent sized pots here (hate it when you have to buy four dinky pots in some places, just give us the sauce!!). Sis had a battered veggie sausage which was new to us. She thought it was delicious. Husband wanted a haddock but was not available and reason was explained which was nice to know . He was more than happy with the extra large cod ordered instead (looked more like a whale). We came back a few days later to get the kids a unicorn shake which they can highly recommend! Last year I had a Jack Daniels shake which was amazing. All in all a very enjoyable dinner which was confirmed by the six empty plates we cleared away. Couple of people kicking off because someone's number was called before theirs but staff were really polite and handled them better than I would. We had this on our first night of holiday as we arrived late and just wanted some quick food. We had burgers and fish and chips. Both were very good, better than we expected the only shame was that they were very busy and service was a little slow. You can apparently pre order and then collect once it's ready we didn't realise this so had an hour's wait in the queue. Thankfully the food was worth the wait.

We were so looking forward to our first fish & chip supper in charmouth as it was recommended to us by friends , after queuing for half an hour to place our order, & waiting another half an hour to receive our order, I can only say how disappointed we were to receive dried up chips , & the smallest & thinnest piece of cod I’ve ever been served, and all for the grand total of £19 hence we will not be back again & would rather travel to west bay where there is a fantastic fish & chip shop

firstly, be prepared to wait, we are in the middle of a pandemic and these guys are working like trojans. Its worth it. We visited twice during our stay in Charmouth and between us tried pizzas, fish and chips and burgers. All were the best I've had in a chippy for a long time. Great quality, great service, very hardworking business that deserves support.

We were really looking forward to fish and chips after a long drive down to Charmouth but were so disappointed when we tasted the food. The chips were so bland and the fish, although slightly better than the chips, was dry. We had high expectations after a couple of fantastic meals last Summer but I wouldn’t risk trying this place again.

ordered extra large cod and chips, chips were very poor quality, fish was 70% batter 30% cod, felt very let down. first trip away this year and so looking forward to it, would not even give them a second chance it was that poor

Visited during a trip to Charmouth post-lockdown. The fish bar is still only open for outside sitting despite government relaxation of rules, so there are only 4 tables available. The fish and chips were fresh and delicious and generously sized. However, it was a rather long wait despite not that many people. Also, tables are not cleaned between customers. I think you should provide disinfectant spray and wipes outside for people to clean their own table if your staff are too busy for that. Lastly, the layout is a bit confusing as where you purchase drinks and ice cream is different from where you order fish and chips but it’s not obvious unless you have been before.

First ride to the beach since lockdown, treated ourselves to much anticipated fish and chips, £16+ later 2x fish and chips felt very disappointed, they were over cooked with an odd taste like cheap fat, fish was quite tasteless and over cooked too, Won’t be returning here.

Wow, well done for staying open during social distancing, serving fabulous take out fish & chips and in a safe and responsible manner. Will definitely order again, absolutely great, thank you and keep up the good work serving the community.

We stayed in Charmouth for a weekend, and went to get food from this place a couple of times. The pizza was frankly, awful, but the calamari were yummy and the chips were good, and the onion rings possibly the best I have ever had. My daughter enjoyed her hot dog, and the choice available is remarkable. I would use again (and avoid the pizzas!).

The best fish and chips . The fish is tasty and not greasy. Generous portions. My local so always use when we have fish and chips.

Delicious fish and chips, scampi and pies! Sue provided take away for 24 local fussy ladies from Charmouth on a cold winters evening!!! All packed carefully for easy serving, and stayed piping hot whilst we all chatted over a glass or two! We finished our meal with a Magnum each, still chatting!!! No hesitation in recommending the Fish Bar, we will be back Sue, thank you!!
