A fantastic lunch for our family and a great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My Wife is vegan and my children can be picky but there was a great choice for everyone. Gianluca and Luigi were fantastic and looked after us so well

No question about this being a 5 star experience. Charlie’s of Mayfair has to be one of London’s most underrated restaurants. From start to finish it was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect from the crockery to the food and the way it’s served. Faultless. Here’s what I liked: • Everything. • The Moxon’s smoked salmon carved at the table • The Dover Sole deboned table side as well • The excellent selection of wines by the glass What I didn’t like: • N/A Overall a wonderful place and somewhere you can go for any reason and you’ll feel comfortable be it taking family and children or just a date for two. Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? YES Price point: $$$

Very nice classy British style place. The service is impeccable and they make you feel pampered :) menu is nice, plenty of options and all well prepared. Quiet place with light music, good for chatting without effort.

A very familiar place for us. Alas, Stuart Johnson sadly passed on the 25th of January. Stuart was the quintessential English man, charming, warm, embraced his team with a wicked twist. Stuart won most prestigious award in 2018, Hotel best Manager of the Year.

A stylish dining room with professional, courteous staff. Menu - smart but accessible. Trolley option usually worth trying! Not cheap but decent value for Mayfair.

Divine calf’s liver and gorgeous ambience!

Delicious food, though the portion is too much we wouldn’t even have the dessert in the 3 course, but that’s a rare “complain” in london!

Popped in for a pre Christmas lunch with family, turkey was dry and steak strips were under cooked, returned, then rubbery so refused, got money taken off the bill but not overly Impressed for the money spent

Very friendly and fantastic atmosphere. Had to take a star away as food was somewhat average for a restaurant of that price. Also the staff were, despite being friendly but somewhat unprofessional in a sense they don't realise you want service for a while, forgets you ordered bread multiple times, and I could hear them dropping things twice in my two hours of stay. Nothing to complain about, but for the price I think there are better places unfortunately.

We have been coming to the restaurant in Browns Hotel for many years, it's changed styles, names and chefs over the years. It is now known as Charlie's. Our latest visit was the best lunchtime meal we have had here. Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, a good menu and the food excellent, it's alway been pretty good but it has certainly stepped up a gear. It also seemed busier than usual ( maybe because of the improvements) I would therefore recommend booking. Well done Charlie's.

At present, it's got to be the Best Sunday roast in town! Also, in my opinion, excellent value for money! As always, great service from the team especially Paul and Antonio from Calabria who are absolute gents and clearly passionate about their work! Keep up the good work guys. Most certainly highly recommended!

The quintessential British restaurant experience with perfect service (attentive without being obsequious or overbearing), superbly prepared food, and a classic room the likes of which Queen Victoria might have enjoyed.

The setting is elegant without being stuffy, the staff attentive and cordial, the food excellently prepared.

We went just fro drinks on Sunday with my wife and kids. The staff was very nice and friendly which you don’t see this anymore. The Italian bartender was very helpful and polite. 🙏

Had a fantastic dinner at Charlies whilst staying at Browns on Saturday 15th Oct. We were celebrating my 40th birthday, and the staff really made it special. I had the venison for my main, it was amazing, and the baked alaska was to die for. Keep up the good work

Great to see a decent restaurant back in Brown's hotel, its a fantastic dining room and space. Food was very good and well put together. Wine list is a little over pricey, more accessible less expensive options needed. A super night out though!

Charlie’s located at the Brown’s Hotel. A modern and stylish restaurant on the Michelin Guide serving British dishes with an European twist. The restaurant is really beautifully designed and food was served on their elegantly designed dishes. They have a good wine list but unfortunately many of them are out of stock due to logistical issue between Britain and continental Europe. The service is good as one would expect but definitely not pretentious. It goes without saying that the food is good. Food 9/10, ambience 9/10, service 8/10, value for money 8/10. A restaurant to come back again, highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant with great choice on the menu. Staff were friendly and professional. Can highly recommend the summer veg risotto and the calves liver.

The decor and ambience are enhanced further by the delicious dishes and excellent service. The roasted beef off the trolley is among the best I have had.

Remarkable and authentic, they make you feel special from entrance to farewell! Food is genuine, balanced, and rich.

A nice menu. Slightly lowered by lack of any greenery on the crab starter, and totally over salted spinach. Actually a great deal of salt was used in cooking which made the crab and spinach almost inedible. Service and ambience very good.

My work colleagues and I attended this restaurant for our work breakfast meeting. We decided to try somewhere different and we had heard good things. However the experience was a different story! Upon arrival we were greeted by a rude staff member. Their table service needs work and they couldn’t remember our full order. They also told me that my oat latte was the same as a cappuccino. I would not mind these minor issues as these can sometimes happen in a busy kitchen however their attitude was unacceptable. It was clear that they only welcome specific groups of people. I would not take anyone back there again.

I took my wife to Charlie's Mayfair to celebrate our anniversary. If you have trouble finding the address (I think it's a maps issue on uber), the main entrance is on 33 Albemarle Street (It's listed correctly on their google business page). Not the rear, Entrance which is on Dover Street. I made the booking on the Opentable app one week before. We pulled up outside the hotel/Restaurant. The doorman warmly greeted us with a smile, opened the door and guided us in. Upon entering, the cloakroom lady took our jackets. The lovely front of house lady congratulated us on our anniversary and checked us in. Charlie's is a 5-star establishment with an elegantly styled interior. It emits the vibe of a British private members club. Most of the clientele was affluent men in their 50s with their wives. In a quiet setting with minimal hubbub, I enjoyed the peace. I applaud the menu as it's simple and easy to put together your courses. The service is of a high standard, no need to go into details, it's a 5-star establishment in Mayfair. The experience was pleasant. I rate the dinner 7 out of 10. The duck in the duck salad was a little chewy/dry. I do not know if it is supposed to be like that. However, it was still delicious, especially with the roasted thin sliced almonds that were still warm. I didn't like the mashed potato because it looked too shiny and it felt a little sticky, not creamy smooth as I like it. I was not happy because I wanted to have the sliced roast almonds on my steak, they could not fulfil my request. They did apologise. On the other hand, The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious with the roasted root vegetables. The cocktails are fantastic. To my surprise, in the end, They brought a complimentary dessert with a Happy Anniversary sign written on a chocolate square with fresh berries and chocolate mouse and biscuit base. The price is ever so slightly above average. 2-course meal for 2 people with 2 cocktails cost £160.00. To conclude we had a memorable experience and took some lovely photos.

The food here is simply wonderful, but what I'd like to talk about is the staff. The staff at Charlie's greet you like an old friend, look after you without interrupting your meal or conversations, and just generally go about making sure that the quality of the experience matches the quality of the food. They're all so nice. You're not just guaranteed good food here, but a good overall experience. Would give this place 10 stars out of 5 if it were possible.

Dined here this weekend and it was utterly superb, the staff were absolutely fantastic so friendly and attentive but without being stuffy, the food we had was again superb, this is a very well run restaurant with warm and totally professional staff, well done everyone.

I had dinner here last night with 3 friends. The food, drink and atmosphere in the restaurant was all excellent. Every meal was cooked perfectly and I would highly recommend the venison encroute. What made it really special though was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive and really couldn’t have done more for us. I was impressed and will definitely be coming back.

A group of us had a very jolly lunch here but while it was mostly good and with that lovely sense of luxury one gets in really good hotels, they did forget my main course which I then changed - a good opportunity but it meant my timing was out as everything was cooked individually. They were very apologetic and did make some financial adjustment but it really shouldn't have happened. Generally my lunch was delicious, particularly the soup but not so keen on the chicken schnitzel (though this not improved by eating out of sync with the rest of the table) though a lovely cauliflower cheese which we all had. Rather disappointing pistachio ice. However, lovely staff and service and we sat for ages over several coffees. I would go again but was left feeling just slightly let down.

First course of smoked duck was delicious. Unfortunately, it was a steep decline from there. Sea bass had flabby skin, marinade was bitter, it was overcooked as was chicken Milanese (to point where it was inedible and had to be left.) Staff were unfamiliar with the menu and some of them clearly didn't want to be there. Dessert delicious, but tragically also a burnt Tarte tatin, and cheese described incorrectly. The basics weren't even done nicely. Would have given 2 stars, but front of house staff were great and the setting is lovely. Disappointing.

Having read in FT jesus and Paul from le caprice have joined Rocco Forte at his restaurant Charlie's at Browns hotel we weren't at all surprised having gone there for the first time for their Sunday good old fashioned roast beef it would be outstanding food service ambience were excellent so much so we will return soon for dinner with friends !!!!! After my initial reservation was cancelled by The Ritz, I searched for a suitable replacement and found the grandeur of Charlie's Restaurant at Brown's Hotel. I promptly booked a table over the phone, proudly announcing my wife's 50th birthday. I was assured of a birthday plate/cake. In an attempt to ensure all went smoothly, I rang 3 days prior to ensure all was in order. On arrival, the exterior was impressive and the doorman promptly attended the arrival of my wife. We were warmly greeted and sat in the bar area to peruse menus etc. Starters were delicious: we enjoyed sharing the dressed crab and tuna. Seabass and Duck from the trolley were adequate but not headline grabbing and not of Michelin standards - other restaurants offer better. And that's when the experience changed for the worse... On asking for a tooth pick, I was referred to as "mate". It would appear that regulars are treated very differently than mere visitors. Our mains were cleared and then nothing. No dessert menu offered. Left to top up our our wine. And most importantly, no delivery of the promised birthday cake/plate - in effect, my wife's birthday became just another lunch at an average lunch venue. My lasting impression: tables were moved around us and cloths ironed in front of us. I was heartbroken! The bill was adjusted after sharing some of my feedback but for the occasion that I hoped to lavish on my wife, the experience was not at all as expected!

Absolutely delicious food. I got spoiled with the amazing plant based (and glutenfree) menu! The rest of our group enjoyed their meal too! The decor is stunning and the service is superb. Absolute top class🥂 will definitely come back.

Great service and very good food

A meal at Charlie's at Browns hotel is not peanuts, but it is a very refined venue and as such comes with an expectation of high end prices. The main dining room is lovely (think The Ivy brasserie toned down by several notches). The all female team on the day we lunched were perfect...polite, efficient with a nice sense of humour. Our starters were good. A salad of lobster and crab with hot-from-the-oven rolls and a beautifully presented cold seared yellow fin tuna set the ball rolling nicely. Then came the mains and the feel good factor dissipated. We had both chosen the slow cooked rabbit with fricassee of summer vegetables. However it appears that portion control is not a precise art in the kitchen. My wife's dish was a nice full portion of sliced rabbit. Mine however seemed to be a child's portion, made up of no more than five tiny tranches of bunny, no doubt culled from the left over scraps from the grown up portions. It was quite pleasant but a mere four mouthfuls doesn't quite justify the £25 outlay. We'd ordered a side of chips which were excellent, super crunchy on the outside and fluffy and hot on the inside. Deserts put the smile back on my face.....a sublime chocolate crémeux, malted milk ice cream and hazelnut concoction that was the star of the show, and a pretty good English strawberry sorbet with jasmine tea cake affair that was pleasant rather than show stopping. Then came tea and coffee. I've said this a thousand times but I'll say it again here. There is no need for upmarket establishments to hike up the price of a simple pot of tea or a double macchiato (a small double at that) to astronomical heights. There is no extra skill in making or serving up such drinks as there might be in producing a main course or dessert, and even if their ingredients were sourced from spectacularly remote areas of the planet (which I doubt) a price of £7.50 each is insulting Yes they came with four very nice thin slices of chocolate but to be honest we'd rather have shared another of their chocolate deserts (and come out £3 richer) and had a tea and coffee back home. So a disappointing 3 stars but a little care and attention to detail and pricing and it could have been 5.

Very elegant setting, beautiful decor, fresh flowers, and delicious food!! The staff is extremely pleasant, attentive, and accommodating.

This was our first meal at Charlie's and we both thought it was a great experience! The food was well presented and extremely tasty. The service was efficient from a very pleasant team. Well worth a visit and well worth the price. 5 out of 5 !!!

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch here. The service was impeccable, friendly too. The roast beef was excellent served with delicious cauliflower cheese and wonderfully tasty carrots. The individual Charlotte Russe's are something you don't often see these days, really well executed and flavoursome. The food was priced in the upper bracket, sadly there were no bargains on the wine list which if more approachable would ensure I came back more often.

Overpriced for what it is. I found the staff rude and disinterested.

We paid £300 and did not enjoy the food. It tasted a bit weird to me. A lot of people have recommended this place for me to try but I was very disappointed.

Have been coming here since they reopened last year. Love the food, the staff are incredibly helpful and charming. Just perfect and now our regular Saturday lunchtime haunt. Highly recommended and the set lunch is great value.

Lovely setting in a relaxed atmosphere. Professional staff serving interesting twist on traditional British food. The bread rolls were to die for, and my red mullet was perfect.will definitely return.

Really just the perfect place - there’s nothing on the menu I wouldn’t eat, items I’ve chosen have been exceptional. Quality is outstanding - presentation perfect Genuine friendly service and the room has a feel of comfort and sophistication, plus best part is that you don’t have to shout at your guests - I will be returning and telling everyone about it.
