Chan's is only take away. Opens at 5 pm, every day except Mon. Great food, amazing prices, and excellent service.

Another great meal from Chan's. The toban aubergine and salt and pepper squid were top notch. Kung po/chilli prawns lovely, and the dirty pancake roll up to the usual high standard. Service was the usual high standard, and well within stated time ( again, as usual - prepare for that! )

Great Chinese food eat in restaurant, option takeaway and delivery if within radius. Lovely staff, family run business in East Ham since 1947. Order from monthly or visit, sonetlmes more! Recommended shredded chicken or roast pork chow mein, various beef dishes, sweet and sour chicken or balls. Various vegetarian, vegan options.

Best ever every dish is extremely delicious and portions are perfect always piping hot on delivery been coming for years my kids come from miles away to get it and very nice people who run it

Best chinese delivered and so delicious and hot.We have not had a great delivery of Chinese for ages from various places, then I remembered Chans, went there years ago. Just eaten the best Chinese, the food was lovely and hot, tasty and not too salty. By far the best, both rated 5 stars by my partner and I. We appreciate nice food, this was 10 stars. Perfect and great delivery, boxed well to keep heat in, big portions, friendly delivery man. Fabulous

Had takeaway, so I can't comment too much on the service, but the food is delivered by actual restaurant staff and he was extremely polite. Also food was delivered in a nice cardboard box with silver foil cover to keep it hot. The Hot & Sour soup was the nicest I have ever had, the taste had the perfect balance and the ingredients tasted fresh. All The other dishes we had were excellent and if I am in the area again I will definitely use again. I know that my Dad used this restaurant in the 1960s, so I am glad to be continuing the tradition.

Lovely food, great service, definitely care about what they put out. We're late to finding this spot. Clearly an established pillar of the community already. We tried this place over a month ago and have already become regulars! Their Chan's special, their duck, honey wings and everything else we've ordered so far has been great. What's a lovely touch is they wrap our food in a box with foil on top to ensure the food stays warm, never seen that anywhere else and demonstrates the level in which they care about the food they're delivering. The staff there are lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Glad we have found this place and will continue to stay regulars.

Best Chinese for miles. Have been ordering from this family run restaurant for years and can never fault the food. Have the option to make the curry hotter..lovely flavour. Honey ribs great. Recommend the fish in black bean sauce. Chips are amazing too... chunky and huge portion . Have increased their prices since lockdown but still great value for money. Haven't eaten in the restaurant for a while. It is small and intimate. Staff are super friendly.

Best Chinese, good prices, great varied menu. Prompt delivery

Noodle dish 👎 As a Vegetarian I wasn't too impressed (or satisfied) by the Singapore noodles. Literally a few slices of carrot/green pepper in noodles dusted with curry powder. It hit a spot but lacked any broccoli, mushroom, greens or aubergine. :-/

Ordered off ubereats and it took 1hour and 40 mins for it to arrive. Okay food but I’ve had better chinese food and it wasn’t worth the wait… Weirdly, the chips weren’t normal chips but in wedge and half potato shapes..

I've beeb going chans since I was a little f Girl I'm now 54, my dad has-been going since he was in his teens his is now 81,my dad said years ago they use to serve the curry sauce in a milk bottle, and i also remember the chowmein take away wrapped in tin foil which I really miss, I do think they have gone down hill as the curry sauce has changed and the famous orange sweet and sour sauce is now like all the other Chinese places darker red and a bit vinegar, and the chips are no where near how they use to be its ashame as some of these trates was what made them unique to many long loyal customers.

I was introduced to Chan's Restaurant in 2009 by my husband John. Although the business has been thriving for many years. I have to say that they offer a great service with friendly staff. Their food is always fresh & very tasty and of a high standard with a huge & varied Menu. During Covid they began to offer a delivery service too, which was a great introduction to an already great service. I highly recommend Chan's Restaurant. Keep up the good work Chan's 👏 ❤ Pearl

Not bad but have had a lot better

It’s shame that they don’t have dine in but their food is so delicious. Specially their duck and seafood noodles.

Quality and customer service compromised. We visited this place again. Used to have very good customer service and nice tasting food. No more sit due to COVID. Food has doubled in price and much focused on delivery services and walk-in customers. Won’t be visiting again. This is a legendary east end restuarant that has lost its focus and culture. Big shame.

Best Chinese in East Ham! It’s also the oldest. The food’s delicious and service is friendly. It has become our family Friday treat and boy, their food delivers. Highly recommended! The restaurant comes with a lot of history (since 1941) and hope they survive the covid pandemic. If there’s a dish you would like and it’s not listed in the online menu, call them. Stephen’s super friendly and will let you know if they can accommodate your request.

Order came really nicely presented in a box, which is a first time I’ve ever received an takeaway like this. Food was really tasty and the spring rolls where the best I’ve had, will be ordering again.

We ordered £53 of food for delivery from Chan’s own website to celebrate my birthday (not a big one but a prime number!). Website functionality ok till at v end it tells you of possible delivery charge and then its cash only, plus it might take 90 mins to arrive (in the end it was 60 -phew but small mercies) Food was pretty awful: chow mein dishes seemed to be hydrated noodles with gloopy sauce poured over, no other flavour, no frying of any ingredients; lemon chicken bland; mixed veg again bland & gloopy; prawns chewy/badly defrosted?; a tofu dish was just about edible. If we were in the restaurant, I would have left down money for any drinks & walked out, leaving my number. Surprised as most online reviews good. Will stick in future to excellent Great Wall takeaway at Redbridge.

I read the great reviews and was really looking forward to my take away, however I was very disappointed. I ordered mixed seafood in black bean sauce, and it only had a few pieces of squid and a few muscles but the king prawns were left out!, plus the black bean sauce was terrible (in 40 years I've never tasted a bad black bean sauce until now), the egg fried rice and vegetable noodles were bland and even the curry sauce was bland, I then thought the king prawn dish in a chilly sauce has got to taste good, but it was disgusting. I guarantee you 100% that you can get a much better Chinese meal in Sainsburys, and good jar of black bean sauce ! I just threw it all away and I never waste food. I wouldn't waste my time writing this review if it wasn't true. Do not waste your money at Chans

My husband has been coming here for years and it is his favourite Chinese restaurant! It's always packed and they serve amazing and authentic Chinese food!

For many years, Chan's was a favourite for West Ham United's players and staff and remains so for some, despite the club's move to the London Stadium. It's easy to see why. The food is first-rate but not pretentious, with generous portions at very reasonable prices. Don't come here if you're looking for nouvelle cuisine or some obscure new dish that you sampled on holiday walking the Great Wall. Chan's serves the staple dishes that you will recognise from a thousand Chinese restaurants around the UK, but just does it really, really well. I'd recommend the delicious Singaporean Fried Rice and the wonderful crispy beef, but if you have your own favourites you will find them here, and probably better than you've had them elsewhere.

I have been going to Chans since I was a child and having long moved out of East Ham, the visits are now few and far between. Every time I do revisit I’m never disappointed. Took my my four year old son with us for his first real trip (was too young to remember the last time) to Chans and it was fantastic. Food as always was superb, pace of delivery was excellent with waiters asking if and when we would like our next course, and overall service was A star. Lots of attention to our son who had a visit to remember and has been asking when we are going back. Looks like every trip to visit his grandparents may have to include a detour into Chans! Brilliant as usual guys.

A favourite restaurant of ours for over 20 years. The waiter told us once he seated us that the owners have now changed. The food was completely different/ service was extremely poor! Where’s the old owners gone??

Fui como un grupo de 9, ya que era una reunión de cumpleaños para un niño de 6 años.El personal fue muy atento y atento a todas las solicitudes de ellos. La comida fue entregada rápido! Realmente frescos, sabrosos, los platos estaban calientes. I used to visit chains often for take away chow mein etc and they were excellent, but they have changed the suppliers of their noodles and since then the chow mein has no taste and is very bland.

Staff were friendly and the food was good. I can't ask for anything more and the prices are reasonable. Recommended if you fancy Chinese food in an area full of Indian food.

Unless you are a regular then you'll be left unattended for long whilst staff chat with regulars. Some food could have been hotter, had to ask twice for a drink and one dish was not the one ordered and was returned. No apology was given.

Chans is an icon restaurant in Manor Park , Greater London , I actually was introduced by Philip Chan the son of the owner as we went to school together ( Cornwall College) every time I go to visit the UK , I go there , the Shredded Chicken Chow Mein , covered in their delicious curry sauce in unbeatable .

We stumbled upon this place as we were staying just down the road and we're very pleased with our find. It must be one of the best and oldest Chinese restaurants in the area (also based upon the awards on the walls).Most of my colleagues had never eaten Chinese food before and very happy with their first experience eating duck + pancakes and trying several other dishes. All well priced and great service too.If I'm ever in the area again I'll go back for sure!

Probably the best Chinese food we had! The duck and all the meals which we shared with my friends were absolutely delicious and the service was excellent from the very beggining till the end. We decided to go here as it was somewhere in used to go years ago.The food was great and the service fantastic. We had a few bits as starters followed by a curry & rice, sweet & sour prawn balls and a chow mein. All were cooked to perfection. We would recommend this restaurant.

Went here for the first time for takeaway. Food arrived suspiciously quick after I ordered it. But when at home it tasted delicious. Best Chinese food I have had in a long time. Will certainly be back again.

This was always regarded as the best Chinese restaurant in East London when l started to use it in 1967. However since Peter(owner) retired the standards have dropped dramatically. The food now is very hit and miss, the famous noodles have been replaced by a very inferior product, portion of chicken(run with blood) curry and sweet and sour sauces are very inferior quality, the food is of very poor standard and the service is somewhat less than good. They have a waitress who seems to think that everything within the restaurant revolves around her and she is quite the worst waitress l have seen in some time. If you have a take away the you are in real trouble, chips recooked, sauces like the curry is very lumpy, spare ribs and chicken inedible. Quite the worst experience you can imagine. Should really think about shutting down before it does any more damage to a brand that should be revered.

From appetiser to dessert, it was all in all very nice.For the appetiser, I didn't order anything but my companion did and he ordered a bowl of king prawn soup, which tasted great.For main, I ordered sweet & sour Cantonese style pork with king prawn fried rice. Nothing to fault whatsoever. Tasted fantastic indeed. I think I will order it again on my next visit, whenever that might be.Then came time for dessert. Vacky and Kuacky (wasn't it?) are unique options for the menu! Vacky is a vanilla ice cream that comes in plastic cow figure, and tasted nice as well!Will not hesitate to come back here if I have to find Chinese somewhere in East London. Bar also seemed well-equipped for restaurant standards, although I hadn't ordered anything alcoholic at the time.

Visited this restaurant with a group of people who have eaten at this restaurant over the last 30 plus year. Their option of the food being served here was the best.Unfortunately I must have visited on the chef's day off. My first impression of Chans wasn't great when they seated me at a table design for 2 people but as there were 3 in my group crammed in another chair .So now I am sitting the direct path to the bar and toilets. So found by self being bash left right and centre by takeaway customers, customer using the toilets and serving staff. So not a great start.I then had to use the toilet which was smelly and slippery not clean. I can normally judge a venue on how clean they toilet are and my gut feeling didn't let me down.First I ordered the satay Chicken, At first glance looked appetising so was really looking forward to eating my lovely looking starter. Unfortunanley the look didn't stack up to the taste. There was no taste and the chicken was very chewy. I had 4 skewer and each time I bit into the next I was hoping it would be nice...it wasn't.Then they started to dish up the main course. Service was appalling I was sitting with 2 other and our meal was served up piecemeal.First came my egg fried rice on a try full of food but only my rice was served the rest was for other tables. Then another tray of food came out this time we got the spare ribs (a starter for my other guest) and so it went on and on untill we finally got all our order.So I had my egg fried rice (which had cooled somewhat) and my lemon chicken. Again like my satay chicken the dish look appetising enough. So I though this time food I can enjoy...how wrong was I the whole dish left a horrible fat taste in my mouth which require me to order a glass of larger to wash the awful taste away. My other guest had similar experience with their food leaving most of what we had ordered on the table.When IT came to clearing the table.The staff seeing all this food left uneaten didn't even think to ask if we enjoyed our meal.....clearly not bothered.I do have to say in their defence that there was a constant flow of takeout customer(I know as most of them bumped me on their way to the counter), but for the life of me I cant understand why when they serve up the quality of food my guest and I was given.Got to be the worse Chinese meal I have every had...sorry to all who love it

No matter where and when I've been in London UK I've always gone here. I discovered this place by accident about 20 years ago and have visited there every opportunity I've had. Why? It's not much to look at from the outside (it really is a hidden gem of sorts) and inside it's small and quite plain BUT you will not find a nice Chinese meal anywhere in London UK and the service is fast efficient and always polite. They are very attentive and always send you on your way which a cheery thankyou and goodbye.If you fancy a Chinese meal when in London UK you will not find better food, or portions, than you'll find here - not even in Chinatown!

Very small restaurant holds about 20-30 people, but to my surprise the food had so much flavour, we ordered too much food so I took some home and the next day it tasted even better. Have used this restaurant for the passed 24 years. Initially on a weekly basis when I lived close by and then for business lunches when I was working near by. In all the time I have been using the place the menu has never changed and the food is always of the same high quality. On one occassion I drove from Clacton with some friends just for a meal here. That must tell you something.

We've been going for 40 years and never had a bad meal either in or takeaway. Steve and the whole team always go out of their way to look after us. Don't miss it.

I was not impressed with Chan's restaurant, when we arrived the restaurant was empty and after 15 mins of us waiting two men came out from the back and started putting food on an empty table, then they sat across from us and started eating. I didn't think nothing of it until we asked the lady to take our order and to my surprise she said we had to wait because the chiefs are eating and she pointed to the two men that were sat at the table across from us. She then had the audacity to tell us that "they have to eat and we have to wait for another 10 mins". I was appalled at the service we received and how the front of house delt with us. I understand that the Chiefs have to eat but I think it's unperfessional for them to sit downstairs in front of customers eating, you have tables upstairs and then you tell customers that we have to wait. Then after we ordered our food I never received my starter and after 10 mins after everyone else had finished there's starter I had to ask were was mine, she said she thought it was a main and not a starter and it clearly was a starter. People say you should never complain to people who's cooking your food because you don't know what they do to your food but I couldn't enjoy it after that because I don't know if anything was done to it because I complained.we had to wait about 15 mins before we had to ask someone to take our order. I've been visiting Chan's for many years now as my "boys" {3 close male friends} who are very picky about good quality food plus have dietary requirements {one eats no pork, another no beef} recommended it . For them to suggest this as one of their favourites I was intrigued and I now totally understand why.We're now always here for Christmas Eve, Chinese New Year and basically any excuse as often as our schedules allow.Food is exceptionally fresh, a really wide range on offer so you'll find something new and we've have at least 4-5 courses with squid, lamb, seafood, chicken and of course crispy duck which is my favourite. Having been to China & Hong Kong I can say it's authentic Chinese / Cantonese but there's always a little twist or they'll adapt a dish for you if you ask . . .I've never had a poor meal here and long may that continue. It's always busy here so I'd recommend booking in advance so you're not disappointed. The staff are always friendly, welcoming & efficient and seem to remember us whether we visit or just when I call to reserve my table, in fact the chef usually comes out to see me, "the girl with the 3 brothers" . As you see from the other reviews the reputation that Chan's has from those who discovered it decades ago, speaks volumes so I'm glad to add my review and voice to that chorus and say , it's all true, SUPERB food and GREAT value, it would be a bargain at double the price. Open from 12noon - midnight you'll have a fabulous eating experience whatever time of day you come.

Wir waren zweimal hintereinander im Chan`s Restaurant. Es ist ein kleines Restaurant, aber sehr zu empfehlen. Einmal hatten wir Curries und einmal verschiedene Entengerichte. Die curries waren gut, aber vielleicht isst man die besser bei einem Inder. Die Entengerichte waren lecker. Auch die Speisen die zu den Nachbartischen gingen, sahen gut aus. Eine große Weinkarte lässt einem leicht etwas finden.

My family,friends and i have been eating at Chans for nearly 30years. The food is great. Service is fantastic. The chef and the manager make it a point to ensure the customer is satisfied. There is no rushing you and food is always freshly prepared. The staff are never pushy. But polite and attentive. Food is priced reasonably.

We have been going to this restaurant since 1962 and been served by 4 different generations of the same family who still own it. (It has no connection whatsoever to Chan's Chinese Takeaway a few doors away). The food is always freshly cooked and delicious and the staff really friendly, There were 16 in our party and nothing was too much trouble, and the food served at just the right pace and we weren't rushed in any way. We have never been disappointed with any meal there over the past 52 years.

Have been eating here for over 20 years as near my place of business. Dined here last for lunch on Friday 5 September. Must have eaten here over the years on a couple of hundred occasions.A reliable Chinese with quality of food and service and above average and also prices are not too expensive. There are a shortage of good places to eat in East Ham and Manor Park and this is about the best in the area. All the others I would give a miss and if you want something better you will need to go about 3 miles to Stratford.Recommended for an inexpensive meal.

I have been there many times with my family, the staff are polite, helpful,and the food is fresh and tasty , everything you would expect when you go out to eat with the family.The price is excellent for the quality of food that you receive.Me and my family will continue to go to chans and are already telling family and friends to go there.
