Ordered on the website, paid and order accepted. Whilst driving to the restaurant- received a message that the restaurant cancelled order. No fancy order and around £30 worth of food. Drove past the restaurant and could see it was open and people ordering.

The atmosphere inside is not inspiring. I have tried multiple dishes and the taste is ok. But you can't go wrong with buying 3 in 1 tray, Cantonese chicken with chicken balls.

Chan’s newport road used to be a great take away but lately quality is poor. Ordered chilli chicken cantonese style to find when my order arrived it was boiled slimey chicken in an extremely oily sauce. Awful. When I called to query why the dish was not cantonese style as it normally is the lady advised that the ‘top chef’ they have now said that is how it supposed to be. Will not be ordering again.

Me and my partner came here before we had gone home from Cardiff Bay. It was on our way as we were walking towards the train station. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The lady in front of the counter brought our food to our table and I received everything I ordered. I ordered a 3 in 1 tray meal which consisted of rice noodles, chicken balls with sweet and sour and beef in black bean sauce. I thought the rice noodles were plain on their own so I wish there was an opportunity to order sauce to top the base A. The beef in black bean sauce was very delicious and you would tell the vegetables that came with the black bean sauce were fresh and not the old stuff you get in some Chinese chicken places. The chicken balls were the best part of the meal! The batter was really crunchy and the inside was soft and delicious. The sweet and sauce made the chicken balls even better.

Customer service training desperately needed. Driver said over the phone ‘do me a favour and don’t order from this shop again’ because apparently we were too far away. We’re a 10 minute drive according to google maps. He wanted us to walk to the pub across the road to collect the order because he had apparently ‘driven 45 mins due to traffic’ but did eventually bring my order to the door. Driver then pointed up the road and told us there was other Chinese takeaways nearby. Ordered on Uber eats app and they accepted the order so don’t see why we were made out to be an inconvenience. Will take my money elsewhere next time, like driver suggested. Give your money to a business that is grateful for custom instead!

I have to say it's refreshing to see good Chinese food again. For a long time now buying a Chinese meal in Cardiff where everything tastes the same no matter where you are. Chan's is fresh tasty and cooked exactly right. Thanks for taking the care and effort to restoring my faith in Chinese food again. 🙏😁

Absolute shambles. Ordered through uber eats, after 2 hours no food. Called and was told chans driver had delivered it! Felt like they thought i was lying when I told them he had categorically not knocked my door! Driver was supposed to call me, still waiting. 2.5 hours and no food. Family gone home hungry. Luckily uber eats customer service was on point and I got a refund. Disappointed

I've been ordering from Chan's since it opened and have never had a bad meal, needed to complain or had cold food. The food is always fresh, piping hot & tastes delicious. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but you can't rush perfection 😉 Plus that indicates that it's a busy takeaway, which is always a good sign. I'd rather wait an hour and know my food will be good as opposed to half an hour and it be grim. The staff are pleasant and never have any issues catering to my fussy palette either.

I picked up a small meal for myself 4 items.Got home to find the main dish was missing tried to phone them no answer so I contacted them the next day only to be told I can have a free replacement I explained that I have already paid for it the lady was very rude so I didn't go back will not be using them again.

3 times we have ordered. 3 times we have had the incorrect food. The app says free prawn crackers that never turned up , apparently they changed the t+c for them , to top it all the veggie spring rolls tonight are chocolate, absoultly unless.

Always have the noodle box, 3 dishes included. Big portions and tasty food good value.

Waited over an 1 HR 15 mins,food was awful £3.75 for large chips very small portion,chips under cooked and very greasy fried rice fair,will not order again as very pricey and not expected quality

Used to love this place and order at least once a month.. past two orders they have forgotten an item ... then wen I explain this is the second time I over hear a worker in the background accusing me for trying it on and “we’ve already had free chicken balls” wow. If that was the case I would do it more than 2/15 times. I have also seen many other customers have received missing items! Also the food isn’t half as nice as it used to be it’s all stodgy and the ribs was basically fat and cartilage! So yeah sorry but I won’t be ordering again as I am disappointed with the lack of loyalty to returning customers, and accusing of lying! The previous time they forgot an item we waited over an hour to redeliver and then cancelled due to them taking over an hour! Just shocking.

Absolutely the best teriyaki chicken and noodles I've ever had! Haven't even finished eating as I just had to write a review, lots of chicken and mushrooms and the box is stuffed full, very hot even over an hour after I left the shop with my order, yummy! Sorry I didn't think to take a picture until I'd eaten half because I wasn't expecting the best meal ever!

Ordered pancake roll fried rice and crispy duck rice greasy duck was like a fatty chicken leg I'm done lost customer tonight

Unfortunately very poor food. Ordered an egg noodle box with beef and cashew nuts. Only received beef (which was very slimy and fatty) and equally unpleasant noodles. Not a single cashew in sight! The business also seems to use a lot of sockpuppet accounts to boost their Google score -many of the 5 star reviewers have only ever reviewed three restaurants, all Chan's Noodle Bars in various locations.

Food and service used to be good but the last few orders have not been up to scratch. Batter on Chicken Balls are now oily and too thick making it quite stodgy. Chips used to be lovely but now very dry. On one occasion i had to wait for the driver to go back to the restaurant and come back with the sauces that were missing on my order !! One delivery was sent an hour early!! And some drivers have problems finding my address. Unfortunately i won't be ordering from them again which is a shame as we really enjoyed their food before.

Can’t take card payments over the phone.

The first time I tried their it, the taste was good， the ingredients were quite rich, the food was very attentive, and the packaging box was also very clean and hygienic, which made me feel very relieved.

I see there are several negative reviews for Chan's recently and deservedly so. Used to be delicious but I had a tray meal last night where the beef in the curry was slimy.,the mushrooms not nice and the curry sauce was anaemic and insipid.Also the chicken balls were not cooked properly and really chewy.Come on Chan's you have shown you can do better than this!!

Really disappointed. I have ordered from here a few times however tonight the food was not up to standards. Smaller portions. Burnt noodles. Cold chips. :( very long delivery

This is this second time I have ordered from chans I love takeaway as a treat I would most certainly recommend this restaurant/takeaway flavour were amazing food was good quality will b my first choice for my noddle Chinese keep the good work up all the best 👍

Ordered food from this place not for the first time but definitely the last!! took over 2 hours for delivery, fair enough if they was really busy but when my food came it was DISGUSTING!! The beef was literally jelly, the noodles had a funny tangy taste. They also didn't put our drinks in and when I rang them to ask they wouldn't answer the phone and kept forwarding my call. Absolutely disgusting service

Best Chinese ever great box meals always hot and fresh enough for too persons really and they put it in tubs cause I ride a bike great service food is best Been there 6 times this month and turned away apparently the card machine is broken cash only Thursday Fri and sat then card after that

Just ordered from chans on Newport Road. I had a tray 3 in 1 meal which was chicken balls, chicken curry and fried rice and from the 1st mouthful it tasted bland. No flavour what so ever. The rice was tasteless, the chicken curry had no taste at all. The chicken was like slime and raw!!!! Avoid at all costs.

Good Chinese takeaway - but £4.50 for a small portion of rice is a robbery!

I've eaten Chinese food for 25+ years but the chicken in the chicken curry was the worst I've ever had. It really wouldn't have passed for chicken if it was tested! It was soft and slimy, vom. It was 35 mins late, chicken balls were over done and the poppadoms were soft too. Waste of money... *Update*...the owner has apologised as they were busy, i get that and understand. However I'm struggling to understand how being busy constitutes using 'meat' that doesn't resemble or feel what it should.

Very clean and quick. Friendly helpful counter assistant. But difficult menus and food failed to hit the mark.

Best takeaway food in Cardiff. Decent price with fantastic food. The chicken chowmain is the best. And deliver the food so fast. Always enjoy the time spending in there, very friendly customer service. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

Ordered via the just eat website and told would arrive within 30-50 minutes. After 65 mins I called to be told the driver left 12 minutes ago but had 4 other deliveries. Not what you want to hear when you want a hot meal. Further 15 mins and nothing. Called again to be told they would try contacting the driver. I then called 5 minutes later and they were unable to get hold of the driver. I then cancelled the order as would have been cold. The women was sympathetic but no offer or partial refund offered. Not the experience you want when trying a new restaurant for the first time.

Best Chinese I've had for a while... 100% better than the Chinese that used to be there.. Mentioning no names. quick delivery and food piping hot.

i dont no what the previous reviews are are about but ive had no problems as such food outstanding 3inone box meal was amazing the only thing i will say is sometimes the bbq sauce isnt the same and they have forgotten to put prawn crackers in but other than that it is a beautiful meal i think it depends what chef is on

Went recently and actually really impressed, I don't know if they have a new chef. Great batter for spring rolls, everything was fresh and colourful. Young lady with braids on counter is super polite and efficient. Has number 5 hygiene rating.

Absolutely disgusting. The food is sooo awful 1 spoonful and it made you gag. I rang up to explain that the food is inedible and the little girl on the other end of the phone was laughing saying " the foods horrible isit" haha. I am shocked with the way they have handled the situation, they clearly do not have a clue here about food or customer service. £45 literally in the bin. If you want to taste the WORST food then this is your place. If you work hard for your hard earned money and want good food AVOID AVOID AVOID

The food quality is substandard but edible. I placed my order, it was a very simple order. I ordered a noodle box with beef, mushrooms, baby sweet corn and no onions. This was repeated back to my twice to confirm. When I collected my order and I made my way home to eat it. I opened up my food and straight away noticed there was the meat missing. I called the shop and spoke to the lady on the main desk. She instantly told us we were incorrect and never ordered it. This was a “miscommunication” by us and I wasn’t charged for the beef. Wow, I must have told a lie. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN A ROW MY ORDER WAS WRONG. I am absolutely appalled at the service I have received and the attitude that came with it. I’m sorry but if you cannot get a simple instruction correct then maybe the catering industry isn’t for you. I have asked for the manager to call me back but I guess that probably won’t happen at all. I am sure all the rest of the staff work very hard but the main desk is the face of the company.

The food is nice, but there are better places out there. The person who served me didn't know what the sauces tasted like, and told me the card machine wasn't working, so hard to go to ATM for cash. The second time I went, a different person told me they only accept cash, so the first person lied. Run by kids who don't care.

DO NOT USE!! Terrible place - ordered a delivery for 7.30 pm. Delivery arrived at 6.30pm and left with neighbour to pass on as I was not home. Phoned to request a fresh order at the time originally requested - rude and extremely obnoxious staff. Promised new delivery at 7.30. Delivery did not arrive. Phoned again at 8pm. Refused to send new delivery. Refused refund as food had been delivered somewhere! Absolute joke of a business! Shame as the food on a previous order was actually really nice.

Only giving one star because i have to , We went their tonight and had a meal , All i can say that it was disgusting! Chicken was raw , egg fried rice was like gunk ...... The asian lady owner was really rude and did not want to give a refund ........DEFINATELY WONT BE GOING BACK.

Only tried the noodle box so far but it was absolutely gorgeous and so filling! Freshly cooked and piping hot. There's a full Chinese menu and a three in one tray deal too. The staff are really friendly as well. I'd definitely recommend!

Raw chicken. Need I say more. Full refund, but no apology.
