Chan's Chopsuey House in Redcar and Cleveland

Just lost a regular customer tonight we have ordered every other week at this place but after being accused of being a liar tonight they can stick it. We ordered three soups two were half full, prawn toast quarter of a slice of bread size, and no prawns crackers. The assistant that took the call back was friendly enough and accepted they would replace the food as well as an extra portion of noodles which we would of paid for. Five minutes after we received an angry call from I presume was the owner speaking to my wife like s**t and then I took the call he accused me of taking the Mick and saying the soups were full! Shocking customer service you really think I would lie over a £4 soup and £1.40 single piece of prawn toast! After orders of £25-40 a time for the last year! I brought the food back to prove that I didn't want a freebie soup/prawn toast absolutely pathetic!

Found not 1 hair or even 2 hairs in our food but found 3 hairs. 2 in the fried rice 1 in the prawn crackers. Needless to say we wont be going there again. If it wasnt for the hair the food would have been nice. Nice food shame about the hair..

Normally can’t knock the food but gave a little feedback that the chicken balls were small and not as big a portion as some of the other Chinese takeaways in town and was told that the portions aren’t getting smaller just I must be getting fatter!!!! Absolutely appalling!!! Will NOT be going back

Will definitely be ordering again in the future. Ordered last Sunday. 10/10, save yourself the pain of shopping around and just order from here if you are looking for Chinese takeout. I've moved around a lot in the past 5 years and it's a real struggle to find good Chinese take out. Every individual item has out done anywhere else I had tried. My expectations were low and yet I stumbled upon the best Chinese takeout I've had. Depicted: Beef & Chicken chow mein, Beef in blackbean, and finally the £16 Special box of which I definitely recommend. Salt and Pepper chicken sounds boring but it's always one of the best items on a menu, + you can sauce it up with your choice of dip. Final note for my next time, If the owner does read this: Is there a way to order chicken balls separately? I only saw them in the box deal but I'm not sure if they are under a different name elsewhere.

hands-down the best chinese takeout ive ever had. the salt & pepper chicken blew me away. im not even usually a fan of ribs and i loved them. part of the order did come late, but we ordered at the end of business on a sunday, and we were too distracted by how good the food was to mind. cant say much more other than give them your business.

Have used this Chinese for a few years we had one on Saturday night with my grandchildren as was really good and would not go anywhere else the best in redcar 👏👏👍

Very nice food was hot and very tasty

Ordered beef curry got chicken. Put it on the plate so much oil it separated from the chicken and very salty. Disgusting no taste apart from oil and salt. Went in the bin. Never again

Haven't had Chinese food for yrs. Lovely hot perfect cooked food. On time and really tasty Will definitely reccomend.

I have just had a take away from Chan's to be fair it was not to bad taste wise the curry sauce was lovely the chicken in batter were nice, my biggest gripe with this take away is as with a lot of others, The chips. Why oh why do they serve soggy French fries I would be more than happy to have half the size portion if they were real chips or pay a bit more. I know they take longer to fry but the taste is so much better. Sorry to say I will not be returning to be served French fries.

We have ordered several times and really enjoyed it but today just wasn't the same unfortunately. We ordered salt and pepper chicken which was so dry and cheewy and actually tasteless which was surprising. In the pork chow mein the meat was chewy and couldn't eat most it it, everything seemed bland for some reason and not the same unfortunately, very disappointed

Ordered and delivered to my within 25 minutes via the website. Fresh, hot and tasty and filling. Special fried rice, chicken chow mein and chicken balls - £20. Not so sure that a 50p service charge or £1.50 delivery fee are necessary but that said, it did save me the hassle of having to go get it. Really enjoyable meal and will use again next time I'm back home in Redcar.

Pity I had to give a star really. Tried to get a pick up today but was informed they are only doing deliveries. Why I asked? because we are busy. For gods sake what happened to customer service. I promise you now I will never come back

This is only second to sigon Sam's in teesville but the best in Redcar it's been there for as long as I remember and I'm 56

Got to be the worst chinese ever couldn't tell the difference between chop suey and crispy chicken both looked the same and was rank.the chips were nice so I've given the the star for the chips

this Chinese used to be lovely but gone own hill for the past year or so ,I would Regularly use Chans twice a week minimum but after finding bone in the chicken chop suey then ringing them and asking them to check the chicken as I know mistakes can happen found a black hair in my next chicken chop suey so from one extreme to the other rang and complained this time to be told you have eaten some off the food there is nothing we ca do is great customer care I just did not expect to find a hair in my food if I was told about it first lol I would not have eaten it my advice is stay clear there are many other good Chinese shops in Redcar but make your own mind up ps at least if you do fid a hair in your food you can at least floss after your meal

Fue el día después de padres día, visitando a mi padre para una celebración con retraso por comer en Oliver's, (genial como siempre), y una comida para llevar china frente a la tele viendo una buena película. Era nuestro capricho y estábamos deseando. Mi marido pidió una india y padre y yo un chino. Ninguno de nosotros había probado restaurantes chinos en Redcar, pero sabemos que cuando tenemos una buena. Esto, por desgracia no fue así en el caso de Chan. Había leído las críticas, y decidimos ir con la mayoría que eran buenas, pero mi carne curry fue difícil para decir lo menos y demasiado caliente. Mi padre tenía cerdo dulce y agria y como mi carne el cerdo era difícil y no muy atractivo a la vista de hecho iré tan lejos como para decir que ambas no tenía un aspecto muy apetitoso y sabía tan malos como parecían. Odio dar malas críticas pero creo que es necesario hablar con la verdad, así como otras personas que como yo, confían en los comentarios al elegir algunos desconocidos establecimiento de comida, puede ser asistida en ayudarles a decidir dónde comer. Sé que era sólo un simple para llevar y no la comida servida en el restaurante pero no era barato y estábamos ansiosos por tanto como sería si estábamos comiendo. Mi marido dijo que hubiera sido mejor tomar una comida china de Morrison, ya que siempre son muy buenas y una fracción del costo. Yo en realidad como el de comida para llevar china authenthicity desde una verdadera comida para llevar china, pero que de su punto. Mi marido por otro lado disfrutamos de su comida india, al menos no todo estaba perdido! ! ! ! ! ! !

Very poor quality food, cheap meats and cheap oil makes the food taste awful! Avoid!

It may not be to some people's standards, but it's definitely to mine. The egg fried rice is amazing when it's covered in curry sauce (or just plain), the chips are delicious and so are the spring rolls. Would order from here any day! 👌🏻🍜

Nos pide de chans varias veces cada mes y ha hecho durante unos cuantos años. Siempre comida sabrosa, caliente y abundante, entrega conductor amable... de primera categoría x

Este fue recomendado por un amigo y fue decepcionante, me dieron casa especial Chow mein y calientes y alas de pollo picantes. las alas fueron muslos y no picante, la salsa mein la comida era terrible y los ingredientes eran raros ... Sin duda evitar!

Food was absolutely disgusting, it was all just covered in grease. Egg fried rice was incinerated and just tasted burnt. Sweet and sour sauce was rank and the chicken balls were awful I left all of my meal and wont be going back.

in and out in 5 mins. food cooked well, but have gone to frozen chips, would have preferred proper chips

Very unhappy with take-away meal, curry too strong and chicken doubtful. I tried this establishment a number of years ago and it hasn't improved.

realy nice food and good speedy service

we have been using Chans for years and years now - and I have never found a chinese curry anywhere to rival it. The curry sauce is delicious. however I do agree with the previous review with regards to the meat. the char-sui is very fatty (often more fat than meat) and the chicken is pre-formed. Saying that though the rest of the meal more than makes up for it - no other chinese takeaway comes close
