The coffee was good, the scrambled eggs were poor, and the service was non existent. And they then add as standard a 10% service vs giving me an option to add it on, I have to ask for it to be removed.

Aa a self confessed coffee snob..I'm always dubious about trying somewhere new but I dragged the husband to Chai today. The flat white was lovely and nice and strong. He had poached eggs on toast which were cooked to perfection and I had the fruit toast. The fruit toast was a little disappointing but nice enough...it was quite small slices which make me think it was just out of a packet rather then homemade. The cakes at the front looked amazing and home made. Overall a lovely place and will definitely be returning

This Was a really beautiful rustic cafe, coffee was super nice but took a while due to the freshly brewed chai which however was really worth the wait…not sickly sweet like the commercial chai. Unfortunately I Can’t rate the food as I didn’t eat there this time. Staff are really friendly and welcoming . I will definitely be back soon to try the food.

It’s always a great experience at Chai, the coffee is great, and food is always fresh and delicious! I got the chicken wrap which was great. The selection of cakes is incredible, they are not too sweet and are freshly made everyday. The decor is incredible and it’s very comfortable and cozy to sit here. In summers it’s very nice to sit outside.

First time visit with a dear friend for a pre Christmas lunch and a catch up. Right from the start we were impressed with the warmest of welcomes and the funky decor (loved the champagne riddling rack on the wall next to our table). The sausage sandwiches were so good they halted conversation (very unusual), and the caramelised onions were to die for. All nicely presented with a small salad by cheerful, smiley waiting staff. We finished with exceptional, organic coffee and hope to return soon to try some of the fab looking cakes on offer. Probably advisable to book online to be sure of a table.

My friend and I went for breakfast to Café Chai this week to celebrate my birthday. The lovely Ella served us and she really looked after us. The food was so delicious; we absolutely love the feel of the place, it really is something special. This is now going to be a regular for us both and we can't wait to go back.

As a self confessed coffee snob, WOW. I don’t live very locally but have visited Banstead on days off especially😅. Breakfast/brunch is amazing and can’t stop thinking about their coconut and lime cake. Their evening menu of charcuterie and grazing boards are great- lovely wine selection too. We very much enjoyed our girls night here! Staff are excellent too. Highly recommend.

Came here for my birthday lunch earlier. Food was amazing and service was very friendly. Loved the aperol spritz!

I pop into this charming cafe all the time, always met with a smile and the Matcha is the best in Banstead - it’s always buzzing with customers and gives off a great vibe! Me and my friends have also been to the evenings on a few occasions, classy, understated with a great ambience - if you haven’t been to Chai then go as it’s a gem on Banstead’s high street!

This used to be one of my favorite cafes, but recently the prices have gone up a lot. They charge 50p extra for plant-based milk, even though it doesn’t cost much more than regular milk. It just doesn’t seem fair. Also, the cake slices are much thinner now.

Ordered breakfast after a long wait the coffee came out for me but not for my friend even though it was sat on the counter with the waitress just looking at it. Another long wait for the cooked breakfast mushrooms tasted awful not sure what they were cooked in, and a shouty waitress for the entire time is there any need to shout like that and walking around on phone. Really expensive will not be going back.

I visited here with a friend as she recommended it- hence out of politeness I didn’t complain but even she was considering removing the service charge- service was incredibly slow and despite there being around 8 staff members, they ignored us repeatedly. After waiting 35 minutes- we approached the counter for someone to place our order. We were told food would take 25-30 mins, and it did. Our food arrived at different times. My chicken Caesar salad was incredibly bland and tasteless, no seasoning on the chicken, for £13 I seriously regretted my choice. My ‘dirty chai latte’ tasted like pond water, I only drank it because I was so thirsty as we had waited so long for service! I was so disappointed as the appearance of the cafe promised so much, however it has a serious case of style over substance. I really want to support independent businesses but they really need to improve every aspect of their service and I won’t be recommending or returning.

Had a great lunch here today with my dog in tow. Service was faultless and the food great. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and considering we were in a sleepy Surrey village , the coffee was as good as a hip coffee place in town. Will come again , although busy Sunday lunch , it had lots of nooks so you felt relaxed and not hurried .

I gave this place a tryout last month but found it Pricey and offering poor service. They seem to think they are a touch above the other snack bars, but they are clearly not. Try elsewhere - there are plenty of choices in Banstead, even just next door!

Recommend booking in advance, but they were kind enough to find space. A lovely place to relax, staff very helpful and friendly.

Disappointing experience last sunday. Ordered 2 cappucinos at the till and waited at least 20 minutes for them sat outside. One eventually arrived and a few minutes later the second one which must have been left on the counter for a while as it was cold. Staff obliged with a new one but by then I almost finished mine. To top it up was overcharged, although was refunded on request. Staff was friendly but seemed totally overwhelmed and disorganised. Maybe time to move on to onother of the many cafes in Banstead High Street.

Probably one of the best coffees I've ever had! Portions were big, very pricey I must say! £81 for 3 dishes and 3 drinks nonetheless I'll never stop coming back. Decor gorgeous, staff friendly!

I come here regularly with my wife for coffee and we both love it. The decor of the cafe is so welcoming and homely. The service is great, staff are always friendly and attentive. Coffees are consistently 10/10 and the baked sweet treats are always fresh and tasty. Love this spot!

Stopped in to get a coffee… they have an excellent (and I mean excellent) selection of vegan and dairy free options for cake!!! I was seriously impressed that there was 8, different options, and the two I bought, very tasty. Food going out to other tables looked amazing too- I’ll be back!

I did not eat here but I brought the chai mix to have at home. It’s sooooo good. Delicious flavor and easy to use. Also the package is eco-friendly.

I have been coming to Cafe Chai since it first opened back before Covid. The customer service has always been fantastic and I can honestly say their coffee is the best around (coming from a coffee snob ahaha) I am a regular every week, where I get breakfast and log on to my laptop to do work for an hour or so. It is a great place to meet up with friends and family or even have a business meetings with clients. I would definitely recommend Chai and you must get a croissant but leave one for me please.

I have been visiting Chai Cafe for many years and never had a bad word to say until today. Sat outside and we were promptly seen to with menus. Our drinks order was taken as a running club had arrived from a morning run. We were told it may be a five minute wait. Waited 20 minutes still with no drinks since arrival. The running club were using our table for their empty glasses as we were waiting which we thought was very rude. At this point we left. We would say for the future, take the drink orders if you know the club was due to arrive to prevent such a long wait, I would not recommend going to Chai Cafe around 0845-0930 on a Saturday.

We have just enjoyed a superb supper club evening sampling five Sri Lankan dishes. Superb food cooked by a “Master Chef -The Professionals” semi-finalist. Service was also impeccable.

The food is plentiful and delicious and reasonably priced (especially for the area). It is however the service that I want to highlight. Friendly and welcoming, attentive without being intrusive and always with a smile. An added bonus it is dog friendly so I was in heaven. Highly recommend a visit but do consider booking as it will fill up at times.

Love Cafe Chai! The best coffee I have had in the U.K. Friendly staff, prompt service and delicious food. Love the atmosphere too. I had the orange and passion fruit cake which was delicious. When I visit Banstead next year (I am from Cape Town) , I will definitely come back here!

Entered the cafe to be greeted with management behind the till on her phone, no welcome from her. I asked if I could get a table, she replied "give me a second" as she proceed to carry on texting on her phone. Was told to find any table, fine no problem . ordered drinks... all good! browsed the menu, clearly stated all over the cafe and menu "all ingredients locally sourced, organic" etc. Looking around i can see an ASDA delivery appear in the back court yard, funny that its locally sourced from the local asda. PRICES ARE EXTREMLY EXPENSIVE. The Quality does not reflect the price they advertise. Will think twice before visiting again!

Lovely cafe! We sat in the garden on a sunny day, it’s also dog friendly which we loved ☀️ Brilliant ambience. Probably the best Chai I’ve had - very authentic! But, the coffee was really meh and the food was massively overpriced. Edit due to reply from owner: Thank you so much for replying! We didn’t say anything about the coffee but I am 90% sure there was training on the day we went so that might have been it. We’ll make sure to flag next time :) the coffee just didn’t justify the price but really appreciate your response. Thank you!

Looove this cafe! Amazing for lunch or coffee & cake (always hard to choose..). Also took my Mum to the evening drinks / nibbles and she loved it!

We ordered Chai this with scramble eggs and poached eggs avocado toast. The scramble eggs were dry and terrible. We ordered extra mushrooms and haloumi and they added extra chorizo and onions without confirming. We had to order a new dish without meat and still were charged for this. The coffee was disgusting, I asked to make it less strong and I was charged for a coffee that I returned. The bill end up being £86 for brunch we didnt enjoy and for some food and drink we didnt consume. We like to brunch around and this was by far the worst one and expensive for the wrong reason. Very disappointing experience.

What a lovely place to meet a friend, eat cake and soak up a vibrant community atmosphere. The greeting we received was prompt and friendly accommodating our request to sit close to the secluded courtyard garden. It was busy, and it was obvious that the team cared about their customers, be that the family celebrating a little ones birthday, a parent taking time to have a beautifully served coffee whilst her baby napped or me and a friend catching up to natter. Oh and the cake , I had orange and passion fruit and my friend had the coffee and walnut A lovely afternoon. Thank you Chai we will be back soon. A little gem !

It’s a lovely little spot. Very nice atmosphere until you speak to the staff. We found them quite rude and unwelcoming (mostly speaking about the management team rather than the waitress). I wouldn’t go back here again, for what they offer it all seemed very over priced. The milkshake for example was awful, tasted very watered down and they charge £6.50 for it. I had heard good things, but sadly I was left disappointed. I won’t be going back here

Poor service, website not correct, average food yet very expensive, one friendly staff the rest grumpy especially the owner, also I booked over the phone and was NOT told of a time limit at the table, eg we will not be going back!!

We made the mistake of bringing our kids in for an after school treat to take to the park. They clearly didn't want kids in there. Service was slow and made for an uncomfortable wait. They were very quiet so no excuse there. Worst thing, when we get to the park and my son started to eat his chocolate cake, we notice the bottom was covered in green mould. Very over priced and unfriendly staff. Wouldn't return or recommend.

Chai is an absolute gem. Tucked away on Banstead high street, it would be easy to walk past. This is one of the best cafe/brunch spots in the area! We stopped by yesterday for brunch and it was quite simply superb. We ordered the Chai tuna and the sweet chilli chicken wrap. Both were absolutely packed full of flavour leaving you wanting to go back for more and more. Excellent smoothie options, the “pash’n’shoot” was delicious. Lovely cup of coffee too! We will be returning, simply brilliant.

The best place I've been for brunch in any of the surrounding areas. So nice to find a great independent cafe. The food was the delicious, the service was great and it has lovely atmosphere

My favourite cafe in Banstead! We should have many more like Chai. Delicious, innovative and very well presented food, great service and beautifully decorated. Really pleased that they are now open on Thursdays and Fridays!!!

Amazing Café with a homely feeling. The decoration is simple and gives a English cottage ambience. Service is amazing and the food was great too. The home brewed Chai is one of the best I have had and highly recommended along with their home based cakes. Will be back for sure.

Love Chai cafe. There's no lack of café in Banstead. But chai is my personal favourite, along with our little doggo. He loves the attention and of course the treats too.

This is such a lovely place to meet up with friends. Not an extensive menu which is great but caters for all tastes I would say. Too much choice is off-putting. Only downside is not having enough time as they are so popular & busy. Often left feeling rushed out.

Came here in early September, very busy but got a table, food and drink quality very good, yes it's more expensive than costa or Starbucks but I feel it's best to support independent places.
