Cecilia’s Cafe in Purbeck

The food is great. But they often just aren’t open, without warning or explanation. And they don’t bother to have a voicemail message so that you can know when they’re closed, and they sure as hell don’t have a website presence that would tell you when they’re closed. As a result, I’ve been there four times in the past six months where I showed up and tried the door knob and it was locked, without any explanation. Pretty frustrating. I get it. It’s a mom and pop joint. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have the most basic amount of professionalism.

Don't know if this place is still open. Went today, Thursday, at 10:45am. Door closed. They have two neon signs on: one that says open and one that says closed 😬 Called the number and seems disconnected "Verizon wireless..."

I really dont like it when places are closed mysteriously during supposed open hours and there is nothing posted anywhere what is happening (feel like I have seen this a lot is New Mexico compared to other places)

The food was delicious and this is one of the few places that still has hot chili! The service was great and the staff took great care of us. The atmosphere is wonderful and we look forward to returning.

Had a horrible experience. Walked in and asked to seated at the window and received a rude and disrespectful response from waitress. Only one other customer in there and said no wanted to seat me near the bathroom. I left after I got a dirty look from staff.

First time here, tried the Fireman's Burrito. It is fire!!! Muy rico with homemade ingredients that have sabor!!!

This is a cute lil restaurant that has been in Albuquerque for a long time! The owner was nice as well as the other staff. TBH I'm not sure what I ate, because when she asked me I had wanted something along the lines of juevos rancheros, so I think that's what I got? Either way, it was good!

Friendly staff, stuffed sopaipilla and huevos rancheros delicious. Will definitely stop again when back in Albuquerque!

I used to frequent Cecelia's when I lived downtown. This is in fact the 5th time in a row I've driven by, during hours that both Google and Yelp claim it's supposed to be open, and it's closed. I've called, no answer. Is this restaurant still open? Does anyone care?

Man it’s really hard for me to write this review. I use to love this place. As of late it’s not up to the standards it use to be.

The burrito I got was supposed to be carne adovada but it only had about five small pieces of meat in it. That was really upsetting as I have a feeling I was skimped due to the fact I took it togo. The tortilla was fresh but I ended up with mostly beans and chili. I usually don’t rate things so low but after eating it I felt I did not get what I paid for especially the burrito being 18$ ala carte with a drink. Disappointing and I don’t think I’ll visit again.

The map said it was open but when we got here, it was closed and we had already paid for parking around the corner. The closed sign is not visible unless your looking for it, which is hard to do when your driving trying to find a decent parking spot.

This is really tough. So I had their fireman burrito, which is a 5 all day. And if you go there to eat that, you'll be very pleased. However, we decided to order more items and added the special if the day (turkey sandwich) and blue corn pancakes. We were told they're just regular pancakes. And we said it's fine. But if the additional items weren't very good. I'd give the pancakes 2 stars and the sandwich 1 star. Had e just left after the burritos, we would've rated this place higher. So it's a shame. I want to tell people to come here for the burrito. But I honestly can't recommend anything else. The green chille is wonderful and really hot. I do recommend that over the red.

This place has gone downhill fast!!! 1ts off the food is outrageously expensive!!! $37 for 1 bean burrito, salsa and chips and 2 dr peppers. The chips were not freshly made as before the burrito was small and the chili was not good. Never again!!!

Great place and super friendly and attentive staff. I had the enchiladas with an egg and shredded beef with Christmas chile sauce. It was delicious.

The food was amazing, and the owner was fun and friendly. I told my husband we needed to move here so I could eat at her restaurant every day. We are absolutely going to go back for more on our way home.

Went for breakfast. Food wasn’t bad, but also wasn’t great. Owner Cecilia waited on us and she said her chile is always spicy and had them tame it down for us. Was pretty empty on a Thursday morning. Not far from the zoo though!

Red chili was thin, not as hot as flavorful as before..we are regulars and never treated as such...

We saw this on Diners Drive Ins and Dives and have been wanting to try it but everything we try it's always closed. This morning we finally tried it and OMG it was real home cooked breakfast and Cecilia was so nice and it felt as if she was our Tia. She was telling other customers how to make tortillas and it felt like home. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Can't wait to try your Tamales.

This is such a charming little restaurant right downtown. The food is delicious and affordable - their burritos are famous and their egg and chorizo plate is great! Metered parking is available on the street and plenty more in easy walking distance.

Cozy atmosphere, unprocessed home cooked food. Delicious red chili. I've tried a different dish everytime and have not been disappointed.

I will never go back to this place the person that was sitting people was so rude I sat down and ended up leaving because the women there was so rude to everyone I didn't even order because she started to take orders to go never will I go there.

The Carne Adovada and eggs my Mom ordered was a little shy on meat. It was sparingly sprinkled amongst the beans, lettuce, tomato and egg. Joseph had a nice hamburger and I ordered a patty melt special... it was made with two small pieces of toast and what looks like a quarter pound patty that cooked down to accommodate the small pieces of toast. The bacon was extremely salty, with very little condiment sauce and onions. The grill onions, cheese and sauce are what a great patty melt. Also came with good red chile. The waitress is somewhat demanding at first... However, she pleasant after a fashion. Neat atmosphere in Old Albuquerque. All in all, not bad.

The carne adovada was wonderful. Cecilia was very pleasant and informative about the restaurant and the ingredients she uses.

My sisters and I were visiting NM from NY. It was purple last morning in NM and we decided to go to Cecelia's. The food was amazing. No complain. Everybody was nice and kind and was beyond everything sweet. Whenever we do come back, this will be my first place to go for breakfast. See you soon.

Everything our group ordered was fantastic! Cecilia has a personality that can easily be taken as off putting until you realize she's just a genuinely awesome person.

Cecilias is delicious. Definitely have a kick to their chile, but it's not so hot that you can't enjoy your food. Great flavor, awesome staff. This is a hole in the wall place. Don't let the small space fool you, they have some big flavor. The cheese enchiladas with an egg over easy is to die for. This place was on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. You know that's good stuff.

Not many morning dining options in downtown Albuquerque, but even if there were, Cecilia's Cafe is an excellent choice if you're looking for New Mexico cuisine.

Absolutely delicious, not a bad bite. The sopapillas are excellent. My sausage breakfast burrito was big and smothered in the best and hottest red sauce I've had in New Mexico so far, washed down with the best horchata I've ever had anywhere. My partner got the two egg breakfast with bacon and Xmas sauce and it was fantastic. Service was great as well. Absolutely recommend, 10/10

My office is around the corner from this place and I’ve walked by several times, deciding to stop in today and check it out. A few friends recommended previously so it was worth a shot. It’s small and busy in the lunch hour so expect it to be crowded because the place is small. Also expect to be a little rushed, they want to serve as many customers as possible. Understand this before you go or otherwise you’ll get your feelings hurt and be uncomfortable. Cecilia herself greeted me with a handshake when I entered, a nice touch. I ordered the Carne Adovada plate. The Pros: Tasted very authentic like New Mexican food should, the red Chile was superb. The frijoles were also very good. The Cons: the rice was quite bland. The portion was small for the price. Atmosphere is rustic, hole-in-the-wall, like abuelita converted the house into a kitchen and restaurant seating. I find it charming but wouldn’t make it my regular spot. All in all it’s a decent experience and overall worth it.

Not sure how the food tastes but giving a one star for the fact that they haven't fixed their hours or anything and they are NOT open until 1 am right now.

Cecilia's Cafe is at the top of my list for local Eats in Albuquerque. Their food is always so delicious. Their red and green chile is nice and hot. It's like going to an abuelita's home. I highly recommend trying Cecilia's.

Yum! Thank goodness for places like this downtown. So many times I find myself hungry before or during work. This has great home style cooking and friendly people.

Amazing food! We went here for breakfast and they did not disappoint. We enjoyed the chicken fried steak (highly recommend), breakfast burrito, and carne adovada breakfast. All were delicious! We will definitely return to try the lunch menu. Hours are different due to covid-19. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 to 1. We highly recommend this establishment.

Great food and great prices! Huge breakfast burrito for only 6 bucks. Tasty enchiladas with an egg (New Mexican style). Get an order of sopapillas, they were perfect! Has a la cart options of tacos, chile relleno, enchiladas, etc. Definitely recommend eating here!

Cecilia's Cafe serves authentic New Mexican food., made in a small kitchen with love and hot chile. The breakfast burritos this place dishes up are legendary, but take a look at a menu that includes hot takes on local favorites like Huevos Ranchos and Enchiladas Rancheras. The sopaipillas are golden and super fluffy with but a hint of oil, steaming and ready of honey. Their green chile is a cause for gastronomic alarm, but in a good way. It'll clear your head and everything else besides. I totally recommend this place, especially if you are visiting and want to see and taste old school Burque at its finest.

Cecilia had her food cart set up on the corner due to covid restrictions. Gotta love her drive to sell and stay open, great fresh Breakfast burrito, could have used a touch more seasonings, but overall very good!! I'd definitely go back for the full dining experience!

This is definitely one of the breakfast burritos I have ever had. It was a quick and easy stop. Cecelia had it ready when I got there. The bacon was great and my coworker really enjoyed the red chile.

My friend and i walked in for breakfast and Cecilia said what do you want ? We said two for breakfast. She said over there!This place was cold and dark. None of the lights were on. We couldn't even see the menus. My enchiladas ranchras were really good. My buddy's Chile reyenos were nothing but batter. He didn't finish his rice and she scolded him for it. I will never go back. Not a great breakfast experience. Its amazing this place is still open.

The breakfast burrito is the best in town. New Mexican restaurant in general have toned down ther chili to meet the needs of the tourists. Cecilias is the only restaurant in town where the chili is still hot and the taste reminds you of your grandmothers . Love Cecilias keep doing what your do!
