From the moment we entered we knew this restaurant was secial. The music , the interior & the staff made it feel like we had flown to Mexico to an upmarket eatery. We were nor disappointed- Margaritas simply delicious- tacos were sublime- we ate a selection & shared a main - we ended with probably the nicest warm chocolate pudding with cherry vanilla icecream. I am reliving the flavours as I write

We found this cute restaurant on Instagram and it looked lovely so we decided to book it form my birthday! My boyfriend got there before me and the first thing they told him was that we would have to leave in 2 hours time, not a great start! The food was good, small portions, tacos good recommendation! The waiters were very kind, and they did made sure i was celebrated, but then the receptionist came again at 20 minutes before the ending of the 2 hours to remind us again that we needed to leave! However we asked for the bill already and there was no need to remind us again! We left a bit disappointed to be honest! No guest should be greeted like that first thing they walk in!

50th birthday celebration with foodies. I’m originally from the souther part of the US and Mexican food is my favourite. This place was absolutely divine. The interiors are gorgeous, the food is creative, flavourful and despite the fact that this restaurant is smack-bang in the middle of Mayfair, it was unpretentious and welcoming, everyone had a wonderful evening.

I booked this for our wedding anniversary as we really fancied some authentic Mexican food but wanted more than street food. I literally googled ‘best Mexican restaurant in London’ this was on the top 5 and looked more relaxed. It didn’t disappoint, the decor is amazing, so well put together, I felt like I was on an outside on a Mexican terrace. It was lunch time so nice and quiet but still a nice buzz with different parties, we were set on a table in front of the window, staff really friendly. Ordered a couple of recommendation cocktails and they were the best I’ve ever had. A real great twist on a margarita, not too bitter. They helped advise us with the menu and although it seemed to all be small plates they brought an order that felt like starter, mains. Perfectly sized and at the right time. We had ceviches tostadas, the fish was so fresh, lovely texture, fresh, zingy flavour & an array of textures. Also had chips & dips, they were incredible, smooth guacamole but with loads of line flavour, a spicy one which was hot but only ever on the lips, not to hot on the mouth. We shared a tomato salad and the rump cap where you get roasted veg, pickles, salsas & soft tacos so you can build it to you taste. The courgettes were so amazing I had to ask what they were as I thought they were some kind of cactus! I don’t know how they got so much flavour out of grilled brocolli & courgettes. We had 2 more cocktails to finish as was full and they gave us s complimentary shot of mescal with salt and orange, which was so smooth and the orange rather than lemon is a revelation. Can’t wait yo return to try more and try the desserts! I can’t believe all the bad reviews, maybe those people eat at Taco Bell.

Attended with wife and adult son for dinner. I dont care whether or not the restaurant was authentic. It was close enough for me. Good mexican feel decor. Good background music. Our Equidorian server was very pleasant and helpful. She explained that the starter's were small and designed for sharing. We enjoyed our food, particularly the sea bass main. You can scan a QR code on the table to see and pay your bill. 12.5% service charge is automatically added. I prefer to pay tips in cash and believe that servers should be paid a living wage.

Best Mexican restaurant in London, fresh Mexican ingredients, and true Mexican food. I have loved in London for over 30 years and from California where I Mexican food is a staple, I love cooking and dining on Mexican food and Cavita meets my expectations of how Mexican food should be prepared. Guacamole prepared properly and delicious blue corn tortillas. Delighted staff too! Congratulations to the chef 🌮❤️🌮

So based on the reviews and having lived in LA, I was so excited for the Mexican food everyone has raved about and the high end tequila. You can see I review restaurants regularly and honestly, and the food is honestly not great. I had the fish taco's and the taco has been overcooked so was hard and crispy and broke apart when I ate it, and it tasted like every other fish taco, but you're paying double the price. My friends has the beef taco's which they said were ok. The rice was plain, but the beans on the side were just awful (they were basically hard pinto beans in salty water). We actually didn't eat them and told the waiter they weren't very nice. My friend had the Vege esquites and it was just rock hard corn in a sauce, and her exact words were, hmm there is definitely something wrong with this dish, it just doesn't work, so she couldn't eat it. The final insult was ordering a shot of tequila (very expensive). It came in a prosecco glass and honestly was a tiny amount, at the bottom, and was around one small sip. it was honestly an appalling measure. This place was below average and very expensive. You will get much better Mexican food at Casa Pastor in Kings Cross for the half the price, plus you will get nice and large shots of high end tequila, so please go there instead.

We went to this restaurant after having years of experience that proves the more "innovative" and designer a Mexican restaurant, the worse it is. Point in case, that beautiful Mexican restaurant that sits at the top of the Standard Hotel with the breathtakingly expensive yet totally forgettable food. In fact, after having been warned that Cavita was astronomically expensive and just not worth it, we almost canceled the reservation the night before. All that changed the second we opened the door to the place and it just kept getting better. First of all the place is beautiful. The cocktails (I had two different ones) were also beautiful and subtle and delicious. The Margarita was a work of art. As for the food. It was kind of like a joke. The first thing was the best Mexican dish I ever had until... the next dish came out. And it was pretty much like that all night. It just kept getting better. Seriously, the favours were unique and just bowled us over, over and over again. We had 2 appetisers, 3 "plates from the street", The Chicken Mole Verde to share, plus rice and beans. We could have left out the rice and beans as there was left over chicken and no room for desert. We packed up the leftover chicken for take home and the bill was 80 per person, which was in my mind is totally reasonable for a gourmet meal, which is what this place is all about. The next day we tried the leftover chicken for lunch and yup, we weren't imagining it. It wasn't a dream. Cavita is really that good.

I really wanted to love this place - and I did - when it comes to wonderful ambience and service. The food, although competently cooked, was not surprising or wow enough, particularly taking into account that it's fairly pricey. Certain dishes, like the chicken, just lacked a bit of seasoning, although beautifully chargrilled. Some other dishes, like smoke beets for example, were a good idea, but I felt that the chef could have run with it and made it more powerful. It was almost apologetic. Tuna tostadas was, in my opinion, the most successful dish. Desserts were the weakest link. In terms of management decisions, what I did not like was the fact that they had a selection of cocktails on the restaurant menu for £13. But, when we were asked to move downstairs to the bar area, all of the cocktails were £17-£20! So, although lovely, way too pricey.

Only visited for drinks. Surprised to see it wasn’t full, but place looked great and the drinks (albeit just a few on the menu) definitely worth it. With a bit of a crowd, this could be a great little place

Insanely overpriced for below average food. The decor was cute. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We didn’t realise it was only a set menu of £70 per person!!! The food was below average. It would have been disappointing if it were whahaka.

A friend of mine had been here when it opened / soon after, and then also tried the chef whilst she was at ‘carousel’ a favourite of ours, So we decided to give ‘Cavita’ a try…. Getting a reservation on the website appeared difficult so I rang and that was a lot easier… although you had to wait ages for someone to answer the phone… We came/booked on Sunday evening. The restaurant appeared approximately half full at 7:30 pm, It was a special occasion… The hostess gave me a tour of the bar area downstairs as I was curious which looked intimate, and you can book booths. following that I returned to my wife, and looked at the menu, which looked very appetising. It appeared to be more appetisers & entrees, as opposed to the three main courses on offer ( to share ), but again, something different and unexpected…. We/I ordered Cavita’s house Margarita ( very tasty )… Then mouli ceviche & Aguachile rojo, unfortunately, the hostess, mixed my raw bar item with an item ‘from the street’ , perhaps she should of written the order down rather than try and memorise it… The mouli ceviche was extremely hot and spicy for my wife (I tasted it, imagine a extremely spicy curry cold) we complained to the staff, apparently they tried it out the back of the kitchen & replied that was normal level of spice….surprise to us… However the Quesabirria of smk beef shin I got was lovely & something different… Then we got/ordered salads de betabel ( beetroot salad) my wife’s choice I had the ‘Kingfish ceviche’ my 1st course served 2nd… that was absolutely amazing, taste and texture wise, especially with the watermelon, my wife enjoyed her beetroot salad… The main course of pulpo a las brasas/ half octopus, was stunning, with a side dish of rice and tortillas, spicy sauce on side and two lime wedges. However, the disappointing thing is they charged us £4 for extra tortillas which was disappointing as probably only cost 10p to make cost wise,… The wife commented that was the best octopus she had had, as it was a sharing dish /main, so apart from charge of the extra tortillas it was a lovely main course… We were then served by lovely helpful waitress Shirley, as the hostess had appeared to have left for the evening, she advised us on the desserts & her favourite which we ordered and was Pan de elote, a corn cake with ice cream, the corn cake was fantastic with pieces of corn in the actual cake and ice cream. Lovely to finish and helped as a refresher for my/our mouth’s, re some of the spicy dishes…. Overall, it was a lovely evening and restaurant with a final bill of £136 for two, which I guess is average in London nowadays … Would we return possibly… Definitely the service from Shirley at the end was superb and friendly a big thank you …
