I have read previous reviews of this cafe so can only hope this was just a bad day. After looking around the lovely cathedral this seemed the ideal place for refreshments. My partner joined the queue for food only to be told when he eventually got to be served he was in the wrong queue as we only wanted soup. There were no signs to tell us this. We then sat for at least 25 minutes for it to be brought to us. When it finally arrived after we had asked twice where it was, it was barely warm. Im not sure what had happened on the next table but before the food even arrived they asked for a refund. After tasting the almost cold soup we did the same and promply left, leaving our uneaten food on the table. The only explanation they offered was that there had been a rush on. There was certainly no rush when we left and Im not sure why that would be the reason for serving cold food. It is such a shame as it is letting the cathedral down which I have to say was very impressive. My advice would be to avoid this cafe at all costs

We had 2 roast dinners - including 1 vegetarian roast - and they were delicious, good quality and a good price. Wonderful range of cakes, too! The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient, and we would highly recommend the Cathedral cafe. It made our visit to the Cathedral great!

As part of the cathedral complex, the coffee shop is just through the archway into the cathedral grounds. A wide selection of food and snacks as well as drinks which are all of good quality and reasonably priced.

We have visited the cathedral tea room on several occasions during the summer when I have family staying with us. We came on Saturday and I have to say it was the worst experience I have had. When we came on the other occasions we had lovely fresh cut sandwiches with salad and crisps. This time we had soggy sandwiches and crisps out of a bag with no plates offered. We ordered our drinks at the counter and paid and was about to walk away when a staff member barked wait there we don't do table service anymore. At this stage I wish I had just asked for my money back and gone elsewhere. This was our second visit in September and it was very poor that time with just a couple of cakes for sale and some stale old scones. We gave the place another chance thinking it was just a one off Never again will we visiting the tea room. The place has a unique setting in a lovely building and used serve great food and the best homemade cakes we've tasted. It has become just another high street coffee shop and a very poor one at that. Cathedral get your act together quick or you will loose all your goodwill which will affect on the cathedral badly

Good value for money. Friendly and efficient staff, hearty portion sizes. We saw people having the afternoon tea and that also seemed very generous.

Often pop in for lunch as I work in the town. Great place to meet friends. Cakes nice. A bit of a squeeze round the tables but nice and cool in the hot weather.

My friend and I both chose sandwiches and coffee - all the food was great. We sat in The View room that faces the main entrance to the beautiful cathedral. Staff were friendly and it was excellent value there.

The staff were welcoming and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. The drinks and cakes were very enjoyable and the surroundings were incredible with a large open area with grass in front of the Cathedral with the looming West Front of the building dominating the scene creating a real talking point to enjoy your coffee with. Really worth stopping off at the establishment especially on your way in or out of visiting the Cathedral which is great with free entry! I will definitely be going back there soon.

The Coffee and Cookies Coffee Shop is ideal to stop for some refreshments after visiting Peterborough Cathedral and its grounds, especially on a hot day. We had some excellent fresh sandwiches and some home-made carrot cake with our pots of tea and it was excellent value. Remember to use the 10% off voucher if you have purchased the 3 GBP pocket guide to the Cathedral ( I didn’t I forgot! ) The Coffee shop seemed to also be popular with locals as well as visitors to the Cathedral, and it was just about full when we were leaving and they were starting to search for more tea-pots !
