Direct view of Necropolis! Great location, but you have to find a good parking space yourself. It takes about 10 minutes to walk directly to the center. The rooms were nice and tastefully decorated. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast is served in the room (yoghurt, fruit, granola, cheese, butter, fresh bread from the on-site restaurant). However, three half slices of bread for two adults was a bit small. Highly recommended accommodation for a great few nights in Glasgow!

No need to book in. Rooms clean and tidy and for what we were doing a great wee H.Q. I well recommend it for City Centre stays. Oh by the way the staff are brilliant and the breakfast was terrific ( we got there too late for a dinner).

Beautiful hotel located next to the Necropolis and Glasgow Cathedral and 10 minutes from George Square. The beds are giant and very comfortable and the place is clean and hot. Laura who runs the hotel is very kind and let us check in before the scheduled time without any cost. There was a very good smell coming from the Italian-style restaurant of the Celentanos hotel. I would repeat without a doubt

Stayed here for an overnight as we were dining at the onsite restaurant. Room was perfectly clean and comfortable, well appointed shower room. Now it being a rescued old building there are a couple of " unique" matters to describe, one being the slightly sloping floor that was fine as we were playing carpet bowls. The other was the flights of stairs - up to the restaurant or down to the bar - maybe it was the other way around I dont recall - either way it did not interfere with our enjoyment. This is not an anonymous chain with the usual suspects in every room but it does do nice toiletries, kettle, hot drinks tray and water. A pleasant stay in a hotel heading towards quirky - but in a good way

I came out with 2 friends to have a few drinks on Friday night when I was greeted at the door by a worker and told I had to book when there’s clearly a walk in policy which I have proof of over a Facebook message. There were tables free in the beer garden and was still denied access and told that the people inside want to go outside which I don’t believe. I don’t know wether he didn’t like the look of our group of 3 or what but I think it’s really bad service. A pub I’ve enjoyed going to with my family I’ve now been put off!!

Friendly and very cosy place with quick and efficient service and reasonable prices. Location is good if you want to visit the Cathedral, it’s basically next door. The food, what we had at least, was average at the best. Macaroni cheese nicely presented, but quite dry and bland. Risotto with peas and asparagus had a strange sour taste to it, which made us leave most of it. I would not eat here again.

As a member of Glasgow Cathedral's Kirtk Session, I was deeply involved in the 11th of November national service to mark the end of the First World War. To avoid any travel problems, I decided to stay overnight in the city. The hotel most convenient to the Cathedral is Cathedral House, which in times gone bye was the Cathedral's "Church Hall". We used to frequent the restaurant fairly often, but in recent years it had gone steadily down hill. Necessity being the watchword, we thought we'd give it a try, and walked in a few weeks ago to find it closed, as the new owners, Laura and Shane were heavily involved in bringing it back to life.

From the outside the building looks gorgeous but having read some reviews I was a little apprehensive. The staff were polite and friendly the decor and cleanliness was fine from the front door all through and up the spiral staircase to my room. In my room it was absolutely clean and tidy but I would point out the decor of the wardrobe , it really needed painted (turret room ) now I couldn’t personally care a jot about a wardrobe needing painted or not but for any fussy folk out there ! My only personal grumble was the radiators hissing and gurgling all night made getting to sleep a little bit of a challenge but by morning I felt fantastic and my Fitbit confirmed I’d had a good amount of deep sleep so I guess the bed was spot on :) although the deep sleep caused me to miss breakfast but hey ho .

Despite it being a Saturday lunchtime and with bus loads of tourists outside (literally!) the bar was practically empty. Not sure why as its a lovely little bar with friendly bar staff and a nice lunch menu. We had a very tasty macaroni cheese with side salad and an equally tasty steak pie. Couple of glasses of wine and it was very reasonably priced. Would certainly go back if I was at that end of town. Think a bit more promotion is required guys! Absolutely beyond shocking!!! Keep in mind i have stayed here many times over the last few years...Checking in - nice lass, told me when breakfast was and where - thats it...Room - twin but beds are together because the room is not big enough to have them separated, although the bathroom looks ok at first glance not so much when you step in, smell of damp and mold is powerful, bath tiny and plug hole worn and just yuck same as the miniature sink tucked in the corner, the splash board yes lovely and sparkly but the edging of the bath and the flooring big let down, runner on shower screen possibly where the smell is coming from besides the plughole. The room is bearable, dosent make much sense what look is trying to be achieved, bright painted walls and old dated pictures, the decor is odd, either go with the theme of the hotel and keep it classy or dont. Also main bedroom light fixing cover the bit thats supposed to be on the ceiling is on the lampshade leaving all the wires etc exposed. There is no 'do not disturb' sign in the room, no welcome letter, no useful numbers list, no number for reception - tried every number not one goes through have to call the main landline of the hotel to get anyone, no information book about the area, and considering the heat in that place ye would think to have a fan in the room, its that hot its impossible to sleep, heater off, windows open as far as possible, heavy drapes keep the light out which is right outside the window lighting up the hotel but hold the heat so a no win situation! Carpet on the stairs is an absolute health hazard, the metal bars holing it in place at the back of each step need replaced - how can something so detrimental to everyone's safety be over looked?! Coming out of the bar and up the stairs is so shabby and smells like a public toilet, there are very simple things that could avoid this. Its hard to say what it is that they care about here, is it the bar because its not the accommodation but im not convinced by that either. Although the head chef is a lovely chap hes not near exceeding his potential, Cullen-skink soup was watery and burger tasteless, the menu is not varied enough, not to mention the ignorant and obnoxious guy behind the bar that would rather leave the only other lassie running around doing other bits an bobs to take it up to our table while he cools his heels behind the bar after noting that is was there. Even asking for a drink was too much hassle - very odd taste as well i might add, were as another guest that walked in he was obviously making uncomfortable by invading their space, bombarding with questions and not letting them actually finish what they were saying. This guy was unbelievably rude, we decided to give the bar another go, but no the second time we attempted dinner here, 6.45pm on a Sunday, lovely lass with dark hair just finishing her shift offered us a drink and said having dinner was fine, where as the rude dude said the kitchen was closed at 8pm so it was too late as we were so late coming down, made us feel awful, we were such a hassle, he stood and called the kitchen right in front of us expressing his deepest inconvenience and funnily enough it wasnt a problem to have dinner?! We were more than happy to leave before this point but because he was so rude and quite happy to humiliate us we felt we couldnt as he had caused enough of a scene. This wasnt even the half of it, so disappointed, some of the staff have serious potential and are genuine lovely people but they cant help it if this is the service they are expected to deliver, as for the rude dude with the streak in his hair, absolutely disgusting behavior especially as a representative of any establishment , The Cathedral Hotel is meant to be an iconic element - an important piece in Glasgow's history and its a shambles...

Had a warming lunch here. Service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry. Food home cooked and fresh when it came. Good rustic helpings.

Though I visited only the pub, all in the Hotel all seems like a lovely place. The food was great, very traditional, the space inside antique looking but still well-conserved and clean. It feels like a spot of home in Glasgow, warm and comforting, and the place where I first tried haggis! Would go again!

A lovely little bar with good, simple food and a great location next to the cathedral and the necropolis. Stop for lunch or dinner, or pop in for a drink .The hotel is small but a great overnight stay if in town as you can easily access most parts of town from here. Also quite near Celtic Park if you are so inclined!A lovely and historic building too.

I would love to say this hotel is good because it is right in the heart of Glasgow but unfortunately this is not the case. The hotel is very tired inside the rooms is not to a great standard. I couldn't even say they were particularly clean ? My biggest problem with this hotel was the morning service after arriving for breakfast at 8am as we were told the morning chef always sleeps in so they moved it to 8am instead of 7am. We were told he had slept in again and we had to wait until he arrived. The girl waitress was very apologetic and asked us to stay he wouldn't be long. Some 40 minutes later our breakfast arrived and I can only say wow what a disgrace. The sausage wasn't cooked the beans were freezing the black pudding was soaked in oil, shocking the whole thing was a complete disaster so much so we sent it back and left. The only saving grace for this hotel I believe is it has a new owner and let's hope he resolves his catering staff issues before he looses more customers like us.

We popped in here after visiting the Cathedral while on holiday and we both really liked it. We went in a bit of a round-about way though, as we weren't sure where the front entrance was. We ended up going upstairs and walked in to a small room where they were serving afternoon tea, and we though that maybe their lunch hours had passed since it was already mid-afternoon, but one of the servers just told us to go downstairs and we'd be seated. So, off we went, got a table without having to wait and another server came by to take our orders. We both ordered the haggis, having never tired it before and absolutely had to try it before leaving Scotland. I had the veggie version, my husband had the meaty version and we both had a pint of Tennants. Everything was so good, but nothing beat the whisky sauce that came it! The service was a little slow after we got our meals, and we had to go to the bar to ask for our bill, but really, we were on vacation and weren't in a hurry to go anywhere, we weren't on a tight schedule, we were just there to relax, enjoy each other's company and have a good time, and that's what we did.

Visited using a voucher and cannot praise highly enough. Both starters, melon fruit cocktail in port, and prawn cocktail were fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Our mains of chicken dish and trout were also delicious and because my companion can't eat grapefruit, they offered to cook the trout in butter and wine instead. The accompanying vegetables of asparagus, broccoli and carrots were equally tasty. The wine was well chilled and an excellent quality for a house wine. Our waitress Heather was most helpful, without being obtrusive. Even enjoyed the music playing, but obviously this might not be to everyone's taste. Entering through bar wouldn't be to everybody's taste, but it was certainly worth it for the best meal I have eaten in Glasgow in a long time, which even prompted me to add my first restaurant review.

once making your way through a 'local' bar to no reception in the restaurant, to go back down stairs to the bar, to then get sent back upstairs to find out the restaurant weren't 'ready to receive guests' confidence was depleting. the prawn cocktail was definitely retro. served warm in an old wine glass with bland sauce and some shredded lettuce was a 'treat'. at least it had some paprika dusted on it for colour. the fillet steak.... serving staff did not inform as to what came with this dish or how it was preferred to be cooked or the sauce (included) that was preferred. steak came..... chewy and not definable as fillet without half the constituents for the dish present. definitely no sauce. by the time that we were offered the sauce it was the wrong sauce and told that if we wanted the sauce presented then it was 'no charge' ?!?!?! the sinew within the steak meant that more than half was left, still had the luxury of pointing these facts out to the staff and still being charged the supplement for half a meal, half the contents but full price. would NEVER recommend this establishment as it stands, certainly not for up and coming family occasions (the main reason behind sampling).lovely room. lacks atmosphere. have to pass by toilet smells to get to the restaurant. staff poorly trained, though apologetic when questioned. poor quality food. staff that advise that no specials as the chef is 'training newbies'. and leaving with an upset stomach.

After visiting the Necropolis (which had more life than this place) I came in here for a thirst quencher. This used to be a nice place where you could get a very good meal in nice surroundings. Seems more like a B & B now, with only one couple eating and some other folk hauling their luggage about the place.Had a pint of Belhaven and sat outside - service was pleasant and friendly but slow.

Bought a voucher deal for Sunday lunch as I wanted to try this place and this gave me that opportunity. On arrival we could not eat in the restaurant area as a private function was on,we went to the bar area to ask the staff there who were not very friendly. They pointed us to a seat and we then sat for some time without any service we went to the bar ourselves to purchase drinks and had to ask for menus. Lunch was very disappointing too much gravy with the haggis starter, the pork was dry, potatoes undercooked. I did have a coffee, the milk in a jug had items floating in it, I went to the bar to have it replaced and no apology or anything, not good customer service throughout. Will not be back!

Went to this restaurant because of its proximity to Glasgow Cathedral where we were attending a concert.Despite booking a table in advance, no one seemed to expect us. Service was slow even once our order was taken, and after an hour and a half for two courses, we had to abandon coffee to attend the concert.

i had booked this via a voucher but having never trying it,was really looking forward to it.On first booking the girl was fantastic and unfortunately couldn't make that Sunday but that wasn't a problem.I called on Friday night to rebook after a few times I got through to be told by a chap to call back later or Saturday, because of the noise and there was a function.I tried calling on the Saturday,no pick up!.I then emailed,Shona promptly responded and was booked for Sunday at 1pm again due to a function.I was very flexible due to cancelling before so it really wasn't a problem. My friend and I arrived a young girl was setting up tables,we were the only ones there.I really need to point out this girl was clearly new but outstanding and truly trying her hardest. Please buy her a small pad.A A4 book!.She even put music on via her phone to create an atmosphere, very impressed!.A lady came in to see Summer about a function she had booked, she was embarrassed and kept apologising because she was taking pics etc,Summer was very assured of himself telling her how great he was but not really saying what her buffet would be.We got our starter haggis Bon bons, delicious!.At this point an American couple sat beside us for lunch. Our roast beef arrived again food presented well and really tasty, mind you the Yorkies need looked at.Everything on the plate including the veg. This was the worst bit for us,the people beside us got there mains and after about 5mins Summer broke through the kitchen doors, dumped down a trivet of veg saying sorry the girl never gave you your veg!!!!.The truth of the matter was he had clearly not put it on the plate like ours.I hate liars!.Service is service she only takes out what you give her. Also his apron was filthy!.Another lady who came in on her own was moved Due to a function. The whole time one door opened and then another phew, the main business is clearly functions but don't forget the rest of us.Has for the the young girl if she gets the right training she will a credit to your business as you already brings a calm to the chaos!.Honestly 4 people to serve and even that wasn't right, omg what if all tables had been covered!Shame food was tasty, surroundings lovely but We won't be back and I wouldn't recommend!

Me and friend popped in to the Cathedral House Hotel after a long tour of Glasgow Necropolis - being February we were dying for coffee for me and a wine for her as it was Debbie's birthday. The absolutely super barman heard it was her birthday that day and out of the blue produced a beautiful sponge cake for us. I believe this venue has not long been reburbished but it is beautiful, clean and I can't wait to return.

We booked Sunday Lunch in advance, told them we didn't have a voucher and that two diners were gluten-intolerant. When we arrived we were told there was no menu, only two starters and three main courses only one of which was gluten free and none of which could in any way be construed as Sunday lunch. We ordered drinks and while we waited on the others arriving we 'googled' the restaurant's menu and lo and behold there it was - Sunday lunch in all it's glory. As our drinks still hadn't arrived 10 minutes later we spoke with the waiter, asked where they were and again asked for menus. He was very unhelpful, had forgotten about our drinks and then got them wrong when he did pour them! He told us they had stopped doing Sunday lunch some weeks ago even although it was still on their website and that it should have been explained to us when we telephoned to book. When our friends arrived we left after a quick explanation to them as to what had occurred. At no point did anyone apologise. Don't hold much hope for their future if this is how they treat their clientele. I should also say we have dined here on several other occasions and never experienced anything like this - new ownership perhaps?

We had dinner on Saturday night. Husband had piri piri chicken and it was quite spicy and he likes spicy food. I had steak pie and it was salty. We asked for 2 Gaelic Coffees and the waiter Stephen didn't know how to make them. We told him and they were good considering it was his first time ever. He was extremely helpful and was the only redeeming factor to the night

Staying in Glasgow for a few days and had been been recommended this place, booked several weeks ago for a 10am slot. Hadn’t eaten breakfast and arrived on time to find our reservation had been moved to 10.45am?? Fortunately we went to Scran instead. This place seems to be under owner transition and clearly can afford to lose customers.

We had the Christmas Dine at Home by BM. It was absolutely fantastic and loads of great well cooked and fresh ingredients. The instructions were perfect and the Beef Wellington was superb. During this pandemic our Christmas Dinner helped us forget it for a few hours. Once again very highly recommended.
