Cathay Square in Newtownabbey

Unfortunately first time trying this Chinese and won’t be back. Overpriced (a snack type box containing two chicken balls, two sausages and some chips and a portion of fried rice cost almost £20!). Id expect an order like that is pretty standard for a Chinese and you couldn’t go far wrong but it was pretty much inedible. Sausages pink inside with black bits all the way through, very off putting and couldn’t even bring myself to try them. Prob at least 3/4 of the rest of the meal went in the bin, just wasn’t nice at all

We ordered at 17.30 on Sat 11th January...after several calls it was delivered 2 hours later unpalatable and I was afraid to eat it! The worst Chinese in ballyclare!!!! Funny how they take online payments before delivery????? I wonder why? Will NEVER order from Cathay square ever again!

Food was disgusting and this place has been open for years.the oil was dripping of my food and I actually feel ill.the food has certainly gone down hill,no way will I be eating out of this place again..avoid at all costs 🤮🤮

Been waiting 1hr 30 mins on a delivery, told on the phone it “wouldn’t be long” so after hr 30 mins went by, decided to call and got told another 40 mins.. it will then be 8pm. Girl told me on the phone “Kevin the driver says we are too far away” so now we have been waiting 2 hours 10 mins on a simple small order.

Walked in and walked out, the smell was sickening, like damp.

Absolutely beautiful food ! Even during the may fair event this Chinese went out of there way to make sure we got our food which we live quite a distance from the place. Decent charge on delivery in comparison to the rest. Food was Absolutely delicious and would order time and time again. This is the second time in 2 weeks we got from here and I can honestly say could not fault it !

Horrible staff on the phones. proceeded to tell us we couldn’t order, it was before 11pm and the shop is not advertised to close until 1130pm. Was very pass remarkable and rude on the phone also. We drove to the shop and she told us to get out and that they were closed not taking any more orders but we were able to order on the app. Food is lovely but a shame to let it down with such a horrible girl working there!!

Ordered with a 40 minute delivery on a Tuesday night. Called back after 1hr20minutes to be told it’s out for delivery. Then called back 15 minutes later as it still hadn’t arrived to cancel. Then the driver arrives ten minutes later to confirm I’ve cancelled. I will not be ordering again EVER. Let’s see if I get my money back. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE

Clean and tidy. Close to the airport. Hotel offered a shuttle bus to airport

Made a simple order for delivery on their website. Told it could take up to 50mins for delivery, fair enough. One hour and a half later I ring up to be told it can take up to 50mins for delivery…. 90 is longer than 50 and I’m still waiting? Can’t tell me when it’ll arrive. Still waiting as I write this. Won’t be ordering again.

Wonderful staff, Chef and food. Gluten free options, fried dishes not greasy or soggy. Variety of menu options, really appreciated the high quality of ingredients: Duck is fantastic and vegetables fresh, taste like locally sourced. Keep the good standards!

Just done a order on just eat, arrived with my daughters meal missing. I rang and they promptly brought what I thought was the missing meal. Nope it was something that we had already received. Had this of been an adult I would have made do but it was for my autistic daughter who likes what she likes that's it. I rang the shop and was told they wouldn't be correcting it they were too busy and I could get the item free another time! Shocking attitude honestly can't believe a someone would run a business that way !

We went here because our regular place was shut. The girl on the desk could not be more disinterested in taking our order if she tried. Ordered a tub of curry sauce with our meal. Got home, they had packed a tub of gravy instead and it was too far to go back to change. Chicken chow mein was OK, fried smoked chicken was nice though. There are better takeout places in Ballyclare, avoid this one.

Ordered twice and both times order was wrong or short of part of the order never again I would be giving a zero but no zeros on the reviews

Employ people who can cope. Been trying to get through since you opened. If you don't want my money I'll spend it somewhere else

The service you get from Cathy Square is actually laughable. Staff are so rude and would tell you anything to get you off the phone - real don’t care attitude. I have got a smoked chicken snack box multiple times before along with half and half’s, depending who you get on the phone they don’t exist?? The staff tell you your lying that you’ve got them before as they checked with the chef ( even though you got them a week before) Real don’t care attitude no customer service appalling service with massive attitudes!! Really depends who you get on the phone for what you get for your dinner. Would never recommend or be back laughable staff!!!!!

Always best to order ahead ,as turning up you can wait up to 30mins😱

Cheeky and rude staff was told to get out and she called us “twats” and “dickheads” not very happy would not like this to happen to someone else. Will not be back!

Friendly staff ordering on the phone, love the Chicken balls, food hot, and delivered within 30 minutes one evening, and within an hour on a busy weekend night. Lovely peanut satay, gravy and satay sauce. Really recommend :)

Usually very good . Not so good last night. Waited 40 min for noddles and satay sauce. Ended up asking for refund. They weren't even busy

Only 4 stars be side they forgot my fried rice in the order and I had to go back for it.

I love this Chinese it's that best. Portion size is fantastic but above all they have the taste

Don’t bother getting a delivery if you are in a rush, took over an hour to come. Shocking service.

Quick service. Salt & chilli prawns delicious and lemon chicken so tangy beautiful 🤗

Not the cheapest Chinese in Ballyclare but it is definitely up there with the tastiest. Can be quite a wait on orders on weekends. Delivery available for a price.
