My brother and I stopped here for lunch . We both ordered the omelette and fries . We were very impressed. The staff were nice and yes there is a friendly dog who follows everyone around. It is quite family orientated and it appears by the photos around they have sadly lost someone close. We ate in the garden as it was a nice day. B Overall , yes a bit hickledepicklede. But we loved it. Probably not for you if you don’t like dogs .

If you like a dog staring at you while you eat or it being given its meal in front of you- then this is your place. If not and I dont- look for somewhere else. Our baguettes were ok but nothing special The place has one corner which seems to be dumping ground and looks like a jumble sale!

Great place and wonderful proprietors. Had breakfast, coffee and tea almost every morning of our stay on the island. Welcoming and pleasant, I recommend when in Freshwater or nearby. Say hello for me.

I've been coming here for over a year now. The food is so damn good. The service is just as good. Cath and Mike are brilliant people they are family to everyone. Their dogs are super adorable. One is a greeter at the cafe, and you can see customers immediately smile when they see little Gary greets them. They truly are the heart of Freshwater!!!

My wife and I were over the west side of the island for the weekend and Initially went out into Yarmouth to find a nice place for a decent cooked breakfast...... The cafe we went.into was very busy and had no tables so we drove 5 minutes into Freshwater and came across this cafe which also looked fairly busy but did have a couple of tables. Nice Freindly welcome from the young girl service at the till. Got the impression that a lot of the people in there were local regulars which is a good sign! We both went for a full English. Came out piping hot and a decent sized brekkie! Lovely local sausages, bacon and eggs. Nice big mushrooms too. Got my black pudding which is a must for me in a full English breakfast. Everything was cooked really good and well worth the money! Probably the best breakfast I've had on the island along with Harvey Browns in Arreton. Decent cuppa tea too! Definitely recommend this cafe and sure will will be back!

My husband and I and our two sons had a lovely meal at Cath and Mike's and sat in the lovely sunshine in their beer garden. Cath and Mike are a lovely couple and nothing was too much trouble. Such a warm and friendly welcome on our first visit and we look forward to returning. Dog friendly too which was perfect. Thank you Mike and Cath; we'll see you again soon.

Absolutely lovely lunch. Loads to choose from, All day breakfast, sandwiches, pies, burgers, jacket potatoes, fish or scampi and chips, sausage and mash, homemade sausage rolls that are to die for! Homemade pizzas plus the specials board, spoilt for choice. Even though they were very busy, service was exceptional and incredibly friendly. Dog friendly and just the most wonderful place to stop for some lunch. Highly recommended.

Me and my sister popped in as no where else to go in freshwater and we thought we would give it a go. Fair to say we were very disappointed, we were going to have lunch but saw on their menu all they had to offer was sandwiches and jacket potatoes so we decided to just have a drink, my drink arrived, my sisters never did. Not great service, workers smoking outside. Over all not great wouldn’t recommend. Definitely not the heart of freshwater!

We were absolutely spoilt. By Cath and Mike the seating area was lovely and private. Everything was spotless with newly covered chairs. We had a 3 course meal. Mushrooms in a delicious garlic sauce, with side salad and cheesy bread for our main course it was pork chops with a cheese topping, onion rings in batter, Mushrooms, tomatoes, peas, and a delicious creamy mashed potato. And to finish off my favourite pudding cherry crumble with ice cream. There was more than enough food and myself and husband thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Mike and Cath are amazing hosts. And we highly recommend coming in and havig something to eat. Thank you both for our amazing dinner 🍽

Wow!!!! Popped in by chance, no one else in Freshwater was open on a Sunday for breakfast in the high street. My wife ordered the smaller full English and I ordered the large English which comprised 2 local pork sausage, 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, 2 hash browns, black pudding and toast. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Will defo be going again.

My OH and I were visiting family back in Feb, and we visited Cath and Mikes for lunch and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. The hosts Cath and Mike were very friendly and accommodating to our needs/requests, nothing appeared to be too much trouble. They appeared to have quite a lot of support from locals who frequent the establishment and are also very friendly and chatty, this all contributes to the warm and friendly atmosphere. We will most definitely be visiting Cath and mikes again when we are on the island visiting, and would 100% recommend top others.

My kids and I bumped into this place on a bike ride and stopped for a late lunch. We loved the very local atmosphere with everyone chatting to each other table to table. My son commented on how unusual and nice it was to be somewhere where everyone was talking to each other. The home cooked food was FAB! The steak was cooked perfectly and a decent size. My pie was full of meat chunks and the mash was proper home made and plentiful. The sausages were tasty and the chips just as we like them. This is a no frills style cafe so don't expect frilly garnish and complicated pretentious dishes. It's hearty portions of good quality ingredients cooked with love and it's unbeatable value for money - I have paid double in a pub for generic very average food. I have heard the Sunday roasts are excellent. Thoroughly recommend this place - you won't find better value for money anywhere.

Simply the best on the island. The Cream Teas are perfect. Choice of scone plus a choice of jam. Scone warmed up to the right temperature accompanied by a lovely pot of tea or a coffee. Staff very very accommodating and friendly. Dogs welcome too. What a great place

A wonderful place to eat; such a pleasure to visit and find a place that was so welcoming and being able such enjoy top quality food. Nothing was too much trouble; we had delicious sandwiches freshly prepared from local ingredients. Coffee that was fully flavoured, but refreshingly not bitter. All the cakes were definitely home made; tasting well and looking gorgeous. The cafe was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our first visit, but definitely not the last.

A really quirky 1940’s tearoom full to bursting with memorabilia. Even the toilet is kitted out appropriately. The white chocolate and raspberry milkshake was delicious and I was even offered a top up at no extra cost! Would certainly return.
