Visited here on bank holiday Monday with the wife and kids. Kids had ice cream which they loved and we had cappuccino and a cake which was very nice. Staff are really friendly and very welcoming. Lovely little place!

A wonderful, welcoming gem. Visiting Coldstream with my wife after visiting the Coldstream Museum. The young lady serving in the café was bright, cheerful and welcoming. We had a pot of tea with delicious cake and asked about local references to the Coldstream Guards as both my great grandfather and father had fought in the Coldstream Guards. We were directed to a nearby memorial in Henderson park with beautiful views of the River Tweed. Whilst in the café, we were tempted to purchase a postcard and a few jars of locally produced chutney, jam and marmalade 😋 Excellent service, excellent food/drink, and a fine selection of locally produced goods for sale. Thank you!

We visited this cafe during our visit to Coldstream. There are ample on road parking and parking spaces nearby. The Giancopozzi gelatos were delicious and I’d specially recommend lemon and ginger flavour. It was nice to find that the cafe offered suspended coffee scheme. There are also nice cakes available in the shop as well as the local memorabilia.

Faultless food and service in a superb, comfortable location. Birthday dinner for five of us, varied choices from beeg to schnitzel to scampi...all beautifully cooked and presented. 3 starters, 5 mains, 3 desserts, drinks and wine working out around £30 a head..great value. Will definitely be back

We had heard really good things about The Night Safe and decided to book a table for lunch, especially as Friday is always busy in Hawick. The welcome, the ambiance and the choices on the Light Bite menu were, all, amazing. It’s a good idea to discuss your choices with the staff who explained the multi cultural dishes, eloquently. We settled on 4 of the light bites (not quite as light as we expected, with very generous portions). We chose, Haggis Bon Bon’s, Panko prawns, Calamari and Bao Buns with chicken in a buffalo sauce. We shared, and, the Bao Buns with chicken were particularly good and we ordered another portion, to share. ALL of the dishes were absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and very much enjoyed. We’re really looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely atmosphere, really friendly staff. Like a wee home from home. Great food, I recommend the burger with caramelised onions on a brioche roll. Log burner in winter makes it cosy.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch here, based on the fixed price menu. We also had a carafe of good house red. My starter was a lobster bisque, which was full of flavour. My wife had the arancini which she felt could have been slightly more flavoursome. For mains we both had the steak and kidney pie and we both agreed that it was delicious. Finally we enjoyed the chocolate and coffee mousse, which was great, with just the right level of sweetness without being too rich. The level of service was just right and Christian was an excellent host. Recommended.

1st visit to The Contented Vine. We were impressed. The quality of the food and presentation were excellent. Good service and atmosphere in a friendly very well presented restaurant. Possibly Kelso's hidden gem. We will definitely return.
