The Castle of Comfort is an incredible place.

Rather disappointing after a wonderful stay here last year. The place has since changed hands and is no longer the same. Gone is the homely atmosphere, the free cream tea on arrival, the bar.....everything. Even the grounds seem to have been neglected. Last time we had lovely evening meals, this time we decided to eat elsewhere based on the advice of other guests that were staying there, who were former regulars. It is now no more than an expensive, underwhelming stopover.

Such a shame and disappointing stay we have been there 6 or more times never seen such a nice place go down hill within 12 months don't expect an evening meal and the bar was soul less this place had people in all the time eating and drinking

This place deserves to be more visited. We had a lovely cream tea in the garden.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding just 10 minutes away. On arrival we were super impressed, the hotel is beautiful and very clean. Our room was lovely and the breakfast was one of the best offerings we’ve had when away. With great service too! The only thing which can’t be helped by the hotel is the noise. Our room was facing the main road and any time a car drives by it’s SUPER loud. Once you’re asleep it’s no issue, and again can’t be helped but worth mentioning for others. Also our room (5) was next to the staffs cleaning area and so Su day morning there was a constant noise, which we assume was the washing machines? Again it is a very pretty and clean hotel with an excellent breakfast. We would recommend and stay again.

If you are trying to decide on staying here then please don't hesitate further. The location, setting, hospitality, food, rooms are just fantastic. I've just come back from celebrating my partners 50th birthday there and we were simply blown away with the service and even had a drink bought for us by the owner, how good is that and what a genuinely lovely person and his wife and son are. The grounds that the hotel ard set in are spectacular and although this is deep winter it still looked amazing. We shall go back in the summer and stay longer. Please don't hesitate this really is a gem of a place set in a magnificent part of Somerset James n Karen

Always make a bee-line for here when I'm at the Weir. Caroline and her staff are all ever so friendly. When I find something I like, I usually stick with it; the cheese, tomato and onion toastie is the best I've had. The view is the icing on the cake. 100% recommended. ♥️👌

Lovely hotel in a quiet, picturesque location and a comfortable room with a great view over the weir and a great shower thrown in. The food was delicious, especially the exmoor breakfast and wood fired pizzas. The staff were helpful and friendly. Ideally situated for fantastic walks on the South West Coastal path and Porlock, Minehead and Lynmouth not far away. Cost for 3 nights winter break was fairly reasonable. Highly recommended... Update #1 - No change, same high standards of everything, this time for an Easter 4 night break. So peaceful and relaxing, warm and inviting. We'll be back again soon, which for us will be an unprecedented 3rd visit... Highly recommended 5 stars...

Simply lovely, unpretentious, well cooked breakfast, tea served properly (in a pot with extra hot water), relaxed and friendly service all at a very reasonable price. Love this place.
