Castle Inn Llansteffan in Carmarthenshire

Lovely family meal on Saturday night for 10 of us celebrating my brother in law’s birthday. The service was fantastic and food tasty and plentiful. Dog friendly so the dog came along as well!

Managed to get the specials this weekend the meatballs were worth waiting for and the wife had the curry . Warm welcome as usual many thanks .

We ate here when we stayed in Llansteffan for a short break. The portion sizes were good & the food was decent pub grub. They had vegan options too which my vegetarian daughter appreciated. Decor is very old fashioned, which is not my taste but appreciate that others like that older style (my hubby said the men’s toilets were a bit grim though). Pub gets very busy as there aren’t many places to eat in Llansteffan so best to book. Well used by tourists and locals. Gentleman who served us (not sure if he was the owner?) was friendly & helpful. We returned another evening however & didn’t enjoy our experience as much the second time (the guy who served us the first time didn’t seem to be there the second time). We were with younger kids in the early evening & we did hear some choice language from some of the other customers that we would have preferred our children not to hear. Appreciate that’s not the pub’s fault, but just mentioning it for other families to be aware. There was also a guy occasionally using his vape at the bar (he was near the front door so I think he’d forgotten he’d gone inside!) while he waited to be served which put us off a bit. We hadn’t booked the second time & realised that as it was busy we probably wouldn’t get any food & with the atmosphere feeling different we decided to into Carmarthen for food instead.

Nice little traditional pub. Serving Traditional pub food, I'm still trying to get at the chicken tandoori as it sells out proper quick. Wife had sausage and chips , I went for chicken and mushroom pie . Plenty of meat with a nice sauce to boot

Wonderful evening spent here, thoroughly recommend. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Super friendly staff. Great food. Chips were fab. Decor a little tired but didn't spoil our visit hence 4 not 5 star. Dog friendly and made welcome. Music more mellow heavy metal type but ok. Will definitely go again.

I've only ever been here at lunchtime, so it's been quiet. But dog friendly, great beer and good food. There's a big TV that usually seems to have sport on, but it's easy to just sit round the corner. Service is really friendly

Doesn't look like much as you go in as decor is a traditional old pub but dont be put off, the welcome and food could not be better. The lady who owns I was very friendly, her chef was coming in later but sorted our lunches out for us regardless. Really went the extra mile. You can take your dog in to sit by your table too. No having to stay in the bar area as so many ask we had scampi and chips and sausage with chips. Chips were thick cut and lovely, crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle. Great service and really friendly. The best of Welsh hospitality. Make you feel welcome.

This is an excellent pub. Staff are friendly. The food is tasty and reasonably priced with a decent selection. Service was great too.

Fabulous food. Very friendly staff. The chips are to die for. My husband had a lasagne which he really enjoyed. I had some chicken dish off the specials board which was off the scale absolutely the best I had eaten in a long while. Staff very accommodating with our dog too. 5 stars doesn’t seem enough. Go try for yourself. You won’t regret it.

Einrichtung ist ziemlich geschmacklos zusammengewürfelt, verglichen Mit anderen Pubs kein Stil, permanenter grossbildschirm mit depperten dart Events. Speisekarte ist faktisch eine Kopie der üblichen pubmeals und nun wirklich nicht kreativ. Auch das dekor vor dem Eingang mit ca 30 leeren bierfässern war wenig einladend. Nett ist der Service und die Stimmung im dorfpub, der gut angenommen wird, sicher auch im Hinblick auf andere Alternativen. Die aussenbewitung ist völlig lieblos in einem schattenloch entlang der Straße....schade

Lovely dog friendly pub in pretty little village. They accommodated us last minute for a Sunday meal., Which was lovely too. Only 4 stars as no on site parking.

Apart from wonderful English dishes, do try the chicken tikka, it was really good almost like ones you find in Asia!

Had a nice pint of local cider here at a reasonable price, didn't have food but there was people by us and their food looked very nice and they seemed to enjoy it and looked good portion size. We sat outside watching life go by and it was very peaceful.

Lovely village pub great atmosphere, food excellent good choice of beers, largers, wine ect. Can sit outside and watch the world go by or inside in the cosy seating areas. The staff are so nice and welcoming. If you are visiting Llansteffan and looking for a village Inn the Castle Inn is definitely worth visiting you won't be disappointed.

Old pub offering a good small menu, selling local ales, Evan Evans brewery from Llandeilo, good pint of liberty lager. Ordered steak pie with chips, peas, very tasty, enjoyable visit, would go back again x

Great food, and they fit us in on a bank holiday which was really useful. Very friendly service and you could tell how much the chef enjoyed cooking and experimenting with the selections. Also plus points for having vegan options

I can't really give a full review of this place as we only popped in to ask if they sold ice creams. However I didn't see anything that made me give them less than a 5*. They are dog friendly which is always good for us. The food smelt absolutely delicious. The prices looked good with a good veriety. The locals were friendly and the bar man was really helpful. I would definitely have a meal there if I was in Llansteffan and had more time. Soon may we return :)

First time in Llansteffan and it's captured my heart. The Castle Inn has been a real gem and Rusty has been a breath of fresh air. Really enjoyed passing the time and having a natter, only popped in for a couple and stayed longer. Great pub, lovely friendly atmosphere. We'll definitely be back. ☺️. Thanks for your hospitality. All the staff have been so friendly. Outside of Chris and Rusty, I only wish I'd asked for everyone's names to include. Couldn't have chosen a better place to pass the time of day 💓

Wow. The staff were incredibly friendly well above what I usually expect. The interior was very cosy, I really enjoy a village Inn. I had a pie whilst visiting and I must say, it's very rare to see a pie done properly (pastry on the top and the bottom, not just a casserole with a pastry lid on top). Ingredients were also sourced locally. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

the chips in the place defy belief - apparently triple fried - they are the sort of chips wars are fought over. Everything else is pretty good too, understated and traditional. Do not expect poncy bistro pub fare - this is real.

We just had a fantastic meal at The Castle Inn. The food portions are very generous and the hot chips are absolutely delicious. I am an ex-South African and was amazed to find a fellow ex-South African there too. The people here are friendly. Just a lovely place to finish off a great getaway.

Meal was ok others in our group said theirs was not the best, when we asked the waitress she said they had been very busy and had run out of a lot of stock.
