Castle Chinese Restaurant in Lewes

We had a takeaway from here and it was honestly as good as we have ever had! The bill racked up pretty quick but it was really worth it…magnificent ribs cooked to a perfect tenderness with a sauce we have never tasted before, chicken balls cooked in a sort of Croquette style which were just heaven and the rest was just as memorable. Our one negative was the lack of free prawn crackers when you have spent so much 🤷‍♂️. However you have to try…it is that good!

We really enjoyed our vegan meal. The service was very friendly and staff were helpful. We loved the vegan chicken satay and the gyoza was great too. Our dog was very welcome, which was an added bonus. 100% recommend.

The food and service is fantastic. The sizzling king prawns, black bean tofu and banana fritters are favourites. Our waiter Yvonne put a big smile on our faces. Highly recommend!

Hardly any duck in the chow mein, portions were tiny! Usually when we get a Chinese there is always left overs but we were still hungry! Over priced bad quality. A lot better Chinese in lewes elsewhere.

What a lovely night! Went for my birthday with 3 other people and I was simply spoilt rotten! Nothing was expected but these lovely ladies made my night so very special. They looked after us so attentively and were very kind with a surprise additional dish and their overall warmth and genuine ambience. I have been here before and remember it as restaurant Chinese food - it’s so much better than anything you’d class as standard. That was the right impression. From start to finish, the food simply wowed. Beautifully presented, the QUALITY there and just ummmm-mmmmm with every mouthful. It is so skillfully executed, from the spare ribs (to die for!) to the duck course and the very surprising wow factor being the prawn main dish. Was absolutely exquisite in terms of taste, texture, flavour. Our whole table was bowled over by it. Garlic & Chilli King Prawns. Didn’t sound anything special but it will be the dish we remember most. We will most certainly be back and will be recommending to all our friends. A huge thank you - what a lovely night. The best Chinese food I’ve ever had. This lovely little gem of a restaurant is in Lewes East Sussex. If you are staying there or visiting do yourself a favour and book a table or get a carry out meal/delivery. Without a doubt this was the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had. I’m vegetarian/vegan but my husband isn’t so it can be difficult to find a restaurant that can provide good food for both of us. My vegetarian teriakyi tofu was a amazing. The rice accompaniment was fresh and delicious. My husband had chicken one evening and a beef dish the next. Both were presented beautifully and he said they were excellent.

This is a great Chinese restaurant. They have a gluten free menu which pleased me as well as vegan. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Really nice Chinese with a separate vegan menu. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan. Recommend the vegan "chicken" kung po and the salt and pepper tofu to start.

The service was great and all staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. The Char Sui pork was bland and had hardly any sauce, the morsel of sauce tasted watered down and almost flavourless. The bean sprouts were bland and cold. Our chow main was okay, again lacking in a sauce or much flavour and the vegetables with it were cold. It’s a shame, as eating out isn’t cheap, and felt reluctant to pay so much for it but didn’t want to make a fuss.

We spent the night in Lewes so looked up reviews on the best takeout Chinese, castle came out the best , we waited over 45 minutes but some people were waiting over an hour ! The taste was not good , Bland and odd tasting, worst Chinese we have ever had , only for the fact we hadn’t eaten all day we ate most of it , wouldn’t go their again and wouldn’t recommend this place either , ok they may have been unusually busy I expect that but the food was not good! How this place has the best reviews in the town ???

Ordered another take away expecting the best but again got the worst food cold , not even the right food, prices go up every month it seems and the curry sauce is not as it was but now 3 times the price for a small tub, , the chow mein had only ONE piece of meat in WE ARE NOT veggies, for gods sake dont use these now , prices silly food crap and its cold, time they sold up and got someone in that can run a place like this BRING BACK the Panda Garden !

Basic takeaway tonight, over priced, chow mein tasteless. Also found a bit of wire in one meal.

You can tell the owners really care. Traditional food, polite and kind service even to the point of letting us wait inside with our dog while it rained! Food is delicious and well priced. Delivery’s very quick. Our usual when we want take out :)

Everything about this place is perfect. If you go to Lewes and are in search of good food, excellent service and a beautiful place, just go yo Castle Chinese. The food is great and it's served so quick! I've been here on two occasions, a year apart, and both times I was completely over the moon. Definitely recommend it.

Ordered a takeaway tonight, spent £103 and didn't recieve anything complimentry (No prawn crackers either), they missed out an order and the ribs now aren't really ribs, they are the tiny bits of ribs and in a small container (not a medium as specified in menu). A bit disappointed as we have been coming here for years. Also make sure they re-read the order which they didn't.

Another amazing takeaway from Castle. We had the Malaysian curry, the kung po chicken, the chicken balls, veggie Singapore rice, and chicken fried rice. Everything tasted amazing! Was delivered really quickly too. (Sad to see that the Thai green isn't on the menu anymore though!)

This may not be the cheapest in town but the delivered food always arrives promptly, is always hot and is always of very high standard. We are never disappointed and have been using it for two years. I have to admit we were encouraged to try a competitor recently as we had a friend visiting and the competitor was cheaper. Big mistake. We spent £5 less but it was not comparable. If you want high quality Chinese food this is the place to go. The staff are warm friendly and professional.

It was cold in there, the portions were very small for the price, it cost £84 for 2 adults and a child, more expensive meal I’ve ever paid at a Chinese. My husband said he could have eaten everything we ordered himself, portions need to be bigger, seriously. The owners were very nice, and the food was lovely, but the portions are small.

Had a takeaway set menu for two (which easily fed three) from Castle Chinese last night. It turned up in 15 minutes and was hot and delicious. Very good value and service. Recommended.

Good food every time at a reasonable price

We visited yesterday, the menu especially the Vegan menu is incredible. Everything was so tasty and looked so good, my partner loved the crispy seaweed and I loved the Singapore mixed vegetable fried rice. The team were lovely and Helen, was so accommodating and helpful, definitely going back, the best Chinese around, without a doubt. Also no waking up in the middle of the night, drinking water, obviously very low in MSG. Loved it 😉

We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant to eat in for ages and boy have we found a great one! Super friendly service, the food was amazing with a great vegetarian/vegan menu (that my meat eating husband loved), great atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend this place enough…..look it up.

We stumbled across this awesome restaurant by chance on an early Saturday evening, we were walking along the High Street, hoping to find somewhere that was open at 1730 hrs. They had a few people in early doors, so we decided to go in, and they did not disappoint. Seated straight away by a very charming lady, menus handed and left to discover the delights awaiting us, drinks ordered whilst we scoured the menu, choices made, we sat back and waited, but not that long as food arrived in very good time , duck in yellow bean sauce, king prawns in yellow bean sauce, special fried rice, and the obligatory prawn crackers, all washed down with a cold beer and tonic water, ( not mixed I hasten to say). The food was hot and scrumptious, cooked to perfection, and plenty of it, no need for desserts, followed up by having a Lychee bubble tea , which was very refreshing, I certainly recommend this restaurant if your in Lewes, just wish it was closer to my home it was that good👍 5 ***** service and awesome food

Hi I've just got the best delivery meal from Castle Chinese...Got sweet 😋 n sour chicken extra spicy and Beef chow mean extra spicy ....I got a really quick delivery and good service on the phone ...

Extremely friendly staff! Food is good value for money. It was fairly busy when we arrived on a Friday evening at 7:30pm so it might be worth booking ahead or you might be lucky and get a table. The service was quick. When we left there were tables available. The chocolate with the bill is a nice touch. Accepts card payment and cash.

Vegan options and dog friendly! We had a lovely meal accompanied by our two small dogs. I had the vegan satay skewers, vegan schezhuan chicken and vegan Singapore friend rice. Everything was delicious and I'll definitely be back if in Lewes. The owner was very friendly and gave our dogs some treats.

We have a lovely visit today. With our kids and they really enjoyed it as well. Great food and friendly service.

My first meal/take-away from here. Chicken balls were good. Pork chow mein was minus any pork and very basic. Could do better.

Tried for the first time easter Saturday, incredible food the best Chinese we have ever had, got home ten miles away and all the pancake rolls, chicken and prawn balls were bone dry with no grease on the bags, all of the food was superb, will never go anywhere else in future.

The food (hot and sour soup, Kung Po chicken and beef in black bean sauce) was amazing. If I'm ever back in Lewes I'll come back here.

Epic vegan menu, so much to choose from. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked. Dined in - staff friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing food, the satay chicken seasoned to perfection, noodles were perfect and the deserts were incredible. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. Lovely staff too who were so accommodating and friendly, will be 100% returning in the future.

Best Chinese in the world, with a vegan menu!

When I say this was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life I mean it! The vegan menu is just incredible soooo many options and the quality of the food left me speechless! So fresh, hot, crispy seaweed, tofu, 'chicken' and 'duck' fried so well not greasy at all! The team are also so lovely, very knowledgeable about the menu and make good reccomendations depending on your preferences! I can't select a favourite dish as everything I ate was so good! I would recommened the vegan set menu which is £32 a head for min of 2 people which is such great value for the selection of food you get at such quality!! They have a non vegan menu and also a gluten free menu too so perfect for everyone! Cannot wait to come back it's worth the drive down!! Thank you all, Beth and Aj

Best Chinese food I've ever had. Loads of amazing vegan options too. Love this place.

We were two families of five adults and four small children aged between 2 and 7 who chose Castle Chinese as our daughter's night before birthday meal. So some restaurant's idea of hell if we're honest. This was compounded further by my four year old getting up on the wrong side of the car seat after falling asleep on the journey in and having to be woken resulting in our usually happy boy being in a foul mood. But the wonderful lady who looked after us handled it with humour, looking after us incredibly well, and giving my daughter a wonderful experience for her Birthday. The food was incredible. The Peking Ribs were to die for, a new favourite for the kids for sure and I'm already thinking about returning, perhaps this time without the children to give the staff a break. Thank you so much.

Living in Lewes, visiting, or simply passing through and you fancy a Chinese meal, seated or take away, you will nit be disappointed with by trying out "THE CASTLE" Chinese restaurant. Great menu, quality food, with polite understanding staff. In my opinion it's Lewes best Chinese restaurant, worth a try if you haven't experienced it before. Danuel

Went for a meal last night, the food was good but some of the dishes had a big price increase! A quarter of Aromatic Duck has increased by about £6.00. The other thing to be aware of this they have tables in the back of the restaurant, where they tried to sit us, we refused and waited for a table in the front. The back room is where they do take always orders, delivery drivers and big delivery bags on others table. It was like you were waiting for a takeout! When booking always ask for a table in the front of the restaurant. Sadly it wasn’t a great experience and not sure if we would go back again, We we’re in and out in just over an hour!

Turned up without a booking on Saturday 20th and we were able to be squeezed in. Restaurant busy with locals which is always reassuring. Courteous and efficient service and food was well prepared and of very good quality, As good a Chinese meal as I’ve had in the UK.

Castle has recently completed a major refurbishment of its eat-in areas, but we wanted a delivery for a family celebration. As soon as I phoned they told me where I lived, having stored my details from previous contacts - a very efficient business operation. We had a selection of starters - salt & chilli king prawns and chicken, deep fried won tons with sweet and sour sauce, veg spring rolls, and crispy seaweed. For mains we had duck with plum sauce - which included quite a lot of fresh pineapple, beef with peppers and black beans - absolutely spot on!, chicken with black pepper sauce, a mixed vegetable dish, and Kung Po prawns. These had just the right amount of peanuts and no water chestnuts. The prawns seemed to be the same heavily and crisply battered prawns used in the salt and chilli starter. I am used to Kung Po prawns being butterflied and unbattered, so this was a surprise. And as I have written before, however delicious, a sauce flagged with 2 chilli symbols should at least have enough heat to be detectable on the tongue. Fortunately a jar of Sichuan chillis I've been fermenting to Fuchsia Dunlop's recipe is just right for using now!, One large rice and one Singapore vermicelli completed the order, and there were lots of complimentary prawn crackers. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the order arrived hot. We ended the meal six very well fed and contented people. Minor quibbles: we ordered for a 7:00pm delivery, but it arrived a little over 20 minutes late, after I'd rung to ask was there a problem. The website has conflicting information about opening hours. The scanned menu says "Sun & Bank Holiday 12pm - 9:30 pm, while the Order and Contact page on the web site says 5 to 9:30 pm. This was the May Day bank holiday, and the order and contact page was correct, not the scanned menu.

We booked a table for 7.00 pm. It wasn’t set or ready. We sat for 25 minutes and nobody had taken our order. What a disaster, too interested in takeaways and the quick buck. First and last time there. I couldn’t leave no stars as that facility is not available.

My last three experiences of the Castle, all in April 2022:- at 8pm on a Wednesday evening, to be abruptly told “we have run out of curry sauce”. I commented that this must mean a good number of dishes from their menu could not be made, to which I was asked “so?!”- one week later, the wrong takeaway was put in my friend’s bag. On calling up the Castle he was asked to bring back the incorrect dish and a replacement would be handed over. He asked what they planned to do with the incorrect dish, but was given no explanation. We can only assume they were planning to resell it or reuse the ingredients, after it had been in and out of his flat!- then history repeats itself a few days later when I try to order a curry sauce. I am told again that they have sold out and that I need to pre-order a “long time before”. I said that this seemed really odd for a Chinese restaurant that does a good number of takeaways, only to be aggressively shouted at “why?! Why is that odd?!!”NOT RECOMMENDED.

Have used the Castle quite few times thus booked for a family celebration this evening. Firstly we were seated in a back room, surrounded by the thermal bags used for take-a-ways, and off duty employees. Felt more like a storage room than a restaurant. On previous visits we have always been seated in the main restaurant, next time I will insist this is the case. One of the servers was pushing their new sushi menu, just a little too hard. She actually brought us some samples, which was really kind, but kept telling us about this new menu. Slightly intrusive. One of our starters was forgotten and served quite late. The crispy duck middle course was quite fatty, and not that crispy. A side dish for the mains was also forgotten and brought to the table as we were close to finishing, after three reminders. I mentioned when booking that it was my wife’s birthday and the lady on the ‘phone said they would mark the occasion in some way but nothing was done. Starters were excellent, however, as were the main courses. Staff were friendly and helpful. £200 for six, including three beers and a glass of wine, and a standard 10% service charge. Not terrific value. All a bit underwhelming and nowhere good as previous visits.

Whilst serving mainly Chinese food they also serve other Asian styles primarily Thai.The food is well cooked in good size portions and well presented by staff who are both polite and attentive.Whilst small at the front section the rear section is larger but lacks atmosphere.Toilets not the cleanest in town and could do with more regular cleaning visits.

Great takeaway.we always order from here. We have never been disappointed. Thefood is always lovely and hot when it arrives. Always very tasty. Service is great aware the delivery drivers. Keep up the good work.

Visited in a Saturday night in April with the family and we managed to get a table, it was very busy. Had the set menu and had a lovely and fresh meal we all enjoyed. We were well looked after and the lady in charge was very pleasant. Would recommend.

Maybe one of the best chineses we've had - great for vegetarians with meat alternative options that are delicious.

Had Avery nice meal here and the service was great.We had duck and then some main dishes and the all came as expected and were good quality.They asked after duck if we wanted a break rather than rushing food straight out which was very welcome.Service was excellent

Nice Chinese. The Satay sauce in fantastic. Lots of crunchy veg in each dish. The beef in particular is really tender. The kung po has lots of peanuts.

The usual fare you’d expect. Nothing that makes it stand out . Feels like they do their shopping at wing yip and br8ng back the same ingredients, starters , dim sum etc that all the other places do. Nothing bad about the place but nothing great.

We have had a few takeaways from here. We have really enjoyed each one. It always arrives hot and in good time. The food is really tasty. So glad we found this place.

My partner and I ate in on Friday night. It’s my 2nd visit there. I chose here due to the extensive and different veggie options. Lots of meat alternatives, plant based options rather than just vegetables. The food is lovely and portions are good. The staff are very friendly and relaxed. Just watch out with the Feast sharing meals. The price shown is per person, which the menu does not stipulate. We were quite shocked when we got the bill! Other than that, I would recommend.

The food is quite nice - indeed it was our fav local takeaway. However, as vegetarians, they have twice sent us meat instead of the veggie food we ordered. The first time we just put it down to 'these things happen', but twice out of the probably 15 takeaways we have ordered from them indicates that they simply don't take people's dietary needs seriously. When I complained, they didn't so much as apologize, let alone offer a refund for the missing veggie food.

Second time takeaway experience was as poor as first. Ordered and told 45 minutes to pick up. Then had to wait with around 20 other people another 40 minutes. Seemed it was only cooked once you started queuing. Shame that the organisation of takeaway is so poor as the food is very good! But i will not chance it again. Twice bitten, no third time!

This is the first time we've ordered from them and am so pleased we did. The food was really good. We lived in Hong Kong for 10 years so know what dishes should taste like. I'd say this was the best Chinese takeaway we've ever had in the UK.

Ordered for three people, one a closet Asian food expert, one a doubtful novice, one omnivore. Telephone service was friendly, courteous and efficient. Food arrived at our door ten minutes earlier than predicted. Food was hot, well-presented and looked great. Portions were generous. I was very pleased and felt everything was a significant improvement on the previous Panda Garden product.

I had read online that the food was good but OMG!!! It was Sooo good. I had Tofu Satay skewers, fantastic flavour to the satay sauce and nice firm tofu. Then I had Veggie chicken with cashew nuts in a yellow bean sauce and egg fried rice.Chicken with cashews in yellow bean sauce was my go to for years, love that sauce. I was worried it wouldn't be the same but boy oh boy... It was wonderful, tasted just like it used to. Also the 'fake' chicken was so realistic I did a double check to make sure it wasn't actually chicken by mistake. tore a piece apart and examined it thoroughly. It wasn't meat but such a great flavour and texture.There's so many items on that menu I am dying to try, can't wait for payday again when I can treat myself to some more. And there was so much I could only eat half of it, so I have further delights to enjoy later or tomorrow. Food came really fast too, and was piping hot. With the added bonus of some free prawn crackers.Fantastic!

We usually get our take away fro Panda house in Haywards heath( great food) but decided to give the castle a try.....The take away had a few positives but too many negatives for us to think about returning.The chicken curry was very nice as was the rice.The crispy duck was nice although the pancakes were very synthetic so probably straight out of a multipack.The crispy spicy beef tasted nice but didnt look at all appetising.The chicken and cashew well im afraid ive tasted better boiled chicken with vegetables not nice at all im afraid.The spring rolls?? ive tasted better from Tesco! They were very small( about the size of my index finger) they had no filling in them that i could determine apart from a shred or two of carrot! Im afraid these came across as a frozen product that just didnt taste of anything at all.I wont be using this take away again and will be returning to panda house in future.Its also about £10 cheaper for far superior food.

First time ordering a take away from Castle Chinese Lewes delivering to Ringmer. Very impressed with Castle Chinese, friendly and helpful on the telephone, from call to food delivery approx 40mins, food was really good and piping hot, my husband is vegan and the vegan options are amazing so much choice and variety, best vegan Chinese my husband has ever had, highly recommend and will now be our go to Chinese takeaway and restaurant - happy customer :)

Had a takeaway on Friday night, so limited experience but it was all very good. Service pleasant and prompt and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The prawn toast was amazing, nearly went back the next day to get some more. Wish I had a takeaway as good as this near me.

We ordered from Castle Chinese last night. We tried a variety of different dishes and collected from the restaurant. The food was ready on time and was scorching hot.Social distancing measures were upheld and I felt safe picking up the food. The chicken Satay had so much chicken and the sauce was lovely and thick. Fresh veggies in it that had all been cut nicely and shaped with wavy edges. The chef obviously takes pride in their food. The beef in black bean sauce was everyone's favourite. They need to never change this dish. It's perfect. Lots of beef. Thick sauce. Salty and delicious. There were sliced peppers and onions in it too. The chicken karaage was crispy and made from thighs. We all agreed it was like Chinese style KFC. Gorgeous. It was served with a Japanese style dipping sauce which tasted like a mix between a Marie rose sauce and siracha. The chicken chow mein was nice and tasted fresh and obviously had clean oil. I think it needed more soy sauce though as it didn't have as much flavour as the rest of the food. It wasn't the best I've ever had but still very nice.The Singapore vermicelli was really wonderful. Lots of prawns and different meats. A nice colour. Semi dry.The salt and chilli squid and salt and chilli chicken were both brilliant. Loads of meat again and the batter tasted clean and different to normal. It almost had a savoury salty flavour which was moreish. Lots of crunchy onion and peppers in both dishes.The chicken vermicelli was nice, again I think it needed more soy sauce to give it more flavour.The prawn toasts were incredible! 6 per portion and stuffed with prawns. Very impressed with these.The sweet and sour chicken was different to any I've tried before, it was less artificially sweet. Very nice but I wasn't used to it. I don't think I would order it again.The prawn crackers were obviously made with clean oil and were fresh and crunchy.We hadn't tried ordering a takeaway from the Castle Chinese before but were given recommendations from 2 different people and thought we'd give it a go. Even thought the prices are slightly more expensive than other Chinese takeaways in the area, it was definitely worth it.

Excellent meal last night. Highly recommend crispy fried chicken dumplings. Rice dishes fresh tasting and not oily. Will def order again.

We have heard great reports about this restaurant so during lockdown we decided to give it a try as we had not eaten take out for nearly three months , from the first phone call to finishing our dinner was absolutely faultless , when we ordered our meals we were given a delivery time which surprised us as it arrived earlier than anticipated , the food was very Delish we have had similar versions many times before but this was too notch never before have we tasted such beautiful food the Chinese chicken curry egg rice and pork dumplings were to die for , we are never going anywhere else again this is the one for us 25 out of 10 for this establishment HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

THEN DO NOT ADVERTISE DISCOUNT ON YOUR DELIVERED MENUS !! out of the last 5 we have had only 2 have been tasty and good value , the others cold and the meat more fat than anything else .. complain ,,and all you get is "" Ill inform the management about it !! "" yeah and thats as far as it gets ! we have and no change .. still not great food and just about warm , no heat boxes or carry cases , just delivered in a white plastic bag ! sheesh BRING back the Panda Garden for really great full on tasty food delivered or to eat in !!!!!!!!

We went for the Sunday buffet, but wow were are not allowed to order a choice. The waiter, who seemed pleasant enough to take our first and one and only course away, I may add that the remaining ‘meat’ was fat, pure fat! He told us that unless we ate the remainders, we can’t order more... we were totally embarrassed. When’d he took the plate away, he searched with our cutlery and sloshed the door around to search for the ‘fat’ I mean duck...There was a table next to us of about 10 people ordering endless amounts of food and the waiter was flirting with the daughte who had come the day before with her friend... they all ordered a main each and a side plus an extra...My and my wife ordered one main, one rice and a side... between us, we were told what we don’t eat it we have to pay/..The table opposite us left EVERYTHING we lefts a few veggies.... the waiter told us we had to pay... yet the amount we ordered wasn’t even close to the amount we spent. £16,95pp but we probably had that between us and wit the threatening waiter checking his plate of fat - we would have walked!AVOID!!! A TOTAL RIP OFF!!!!

Had been booked in for a family dinner pre-lockdown so got a takeaway instead. Really excellent quality. Have been disappointed with so many others but Castle is very good indeed. The Thai green curry was great for the family member who shuns Chinese cuisine. Food was all ready and piping hot on collection - handed over ready loaded in a cardboard box with minimal contact. We paid over the phone beforehand so that made it even easier.

Very good soup to start, but with poor quality chicken main course. The chicken was a strange rubbery texture and not enjoyable

We regularly eat out here as a couple and enjoy their Sunday ‘bottomless menu’. The food is always cooked fresh, full of flavour and delicious. The staff are very attentive, polite and give exemplary service. I have also taken a larger party here to dine and had the same exceptional food and service.I would VERY highly reccomend.

We went for the all you can eat Sunday buffet after reading such good reviews on social media. At first we were really impressed as the staff were really friendly and the food looked amazing...When we ordered I told the waitress I was vegan and asked for all the vegan food to come on a separate plate to the rest (as they serve starters on sharing plates).I ordered the beansprouts chow mein and asked if this dish was definitely vegan because of the noodles and I was assured it was. When it arrived it smelt like egg, so my (non-vegan) partner tried the noodles and said they were really 'eggy'. So when the waiter came to clear our table he said he would be charging us full price for the beansprout chow mein as we didn't eat it. I explained I hadn't eaten it as it smelt like egg and I ordered vegan food to which he replied "it is vegan, it only has a small bit of egg in" I was horrified. Egg is an allergen ingredient and this is illegal. The restaurant did not charge me for my food after they served non-vegan food as vegan, but I was really unwell after eating there, so I am now questioning whether the other dishes I ate were really vegan either. Really disappointed overall, as the the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly but it is highly concerning that they do not understand what 'vegan' food is. They also have a policy that if you do not eat all your food on a Sunday with the all you can eat menu, they will charge you full price for the dishes not eaten. This was fine, but our waitress let us order quite a lot (we were starving) and then came back to our table 10 minutes later saying her manager was not happy that she had taken such a large order and she was begging us to make sure we ate it all - it seemed as though she was scared! Would recommend to meat eaters, but NOT vegans. Until they have revised their allergen knowledge and have a full understanding of what vegan food entails, I will not be returning.

This refurbished restaurant now has a great separate vegan menu with loads of choices including vegetable-only, tofu, seitan etc. Large portions so we came away with a doggy bag enough for another meal. (Although I would rather this had been cleared and then boxed away from the table rather than poured into boxes in front of us - minor point). Friendly service.

The food here is of such great quality. We visited last month while in the area (visiting from Kent) and it was so good we came back a second time. The best duck we have ever had at a Chinese. We would 100% recommend here.

Food was good as always and vegan options great but we ordered a delivery and an hour and a half after it was meant to arrive and with no-one answering the phone I had to go and get it. Disappointing.

£10 for lunch gives a good range of options. Chicken and sweetcorn soup and veggie spring rolls both go down well as starters - hot and arriving promptly. Chicken dishes for main course were tasty and succulent. Comfortable interior and a warm welcome make this a place I will return to.

We recently moved to Lewes and had heard good things about this place so thought we'd visit, we were not disappointed! The food is delicious with loads of options for vegetarians including bean curd, veggie chicken, veggie duck and amazing veggie beef.

Thankyou so much for beautiful fresh, tasty food. I have had a few meals from you recently and the food is heavenly. I would have given 5 stars but the last 2 orders were missing items. Only drink and prawn crackers but still an important part of the meal. I would still recommend and definitely order from you again. It would be good to see an alternative to plastic bags used to deliver the food as feedback. Thanks for wonderful food. We look forward to ordering from you again.

I usually have the same dish and judge the restaurant by the quality of their Kung Po chicken, which was good here. Staff very friendly and my Chinese wife felt at home.
