Lovely place to eat. It's advertised as an Italian but only one option on the menu. Food was good and plenty. Staff were lovely. I'd definitely go again

Went for early bird evening meal as we were off to the theatre. The service was outstanding and the meal was really top notch. It was my first time but my wife had dined before for lunch and said we really must go together. We will be going again in the future, and, as they are open every day we will probably go for Sunday lunch net time.

Over and above the call of duty doesn’t even scratch the surface. We’ve been loyal customers for years and will be for many more after today. Catering for after a funeral isn’t really what they normally do, but nothing was too much trouble and the result was precious time with family and friends. Memories that will last a lifetime. Today it really felt like we were guests in their house - Casa Mia

Both my husband and I had the tomato, red pepper and beetroot soup for starters, which we enjoyed. I had the firecracker chicken sizzler and my husband had the teriyaki chicken sizzler. Both tasted amazing and were piping hot. We loved how they were presented too. We weren’t so keen on the chips, they came out 5 mins later than the chicken and were not hot. However, they’re chips so no big deal to us. We were asked if we wanted dessert, and so we were given the menu to look. We were going to order but it took the waitress a good 20-25 mins to come back to take the order so we declined, despite walking past us to serve other tables many times. We thought it would take a good deal of time for the desserts to arrive at this point but the ones we saw from other tables around us looked good.

Such an amazing dinner. The chef clearly puts a lot of thought into each dish. The children’s menu was the best I have ever seen. Plenty of seafood on the main menu and each dish we tried was amazing - I must mention the pistachio panna cotta - amazing. Just the right level of service. Comfy seats. Brilliant. We will be back.

Up in Dumfries, and we were just looking for somewhere to eat. Wow, did we find a gem. It's a bit of a trek if you are walking (plenty of parking) but well worth the visit. You are greeted at the entrance by a sign showing how much money they have raised for charity since COVID. But that is just the first of the impressive things about this restaurant. The staff are great, attentive but not in your face. Chatty and good for a laugh. There is a good range of drinks. But it is the food we came for, and wow did it impress!. Whether you opt for pasta, or English, the food is magic. It releases the flavours as it melts in your mouth. My only concern, there was too much and I couldn't stop until the plate was cleared. Leaving no room for deserts. You must come

We visited the Casa on 17th August. 26 in our party, and all went without a hitch. Our note to the restaurant: All expressed their thanks for such a lovely evening we all had on Saturday evening. Sylvia was certainly on the ball making sure our party went without a hitch. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The table layout was just perfect and the food exceptional. Please pass on our thanks to everyone in your team. Keep up the good work. See you again soon.

The restaurant is located in a quiet residential area of Dumfries about a mile from the town centre so it’s unlikely that you would come upon it by chance. There is parking at the rear of the building. Having been here in business for over 20 years they are obviously doing something right and when my wife and I visited on a Friday at lunchtime I was glad that we had reserved a table as it was a busy place. Several groups of women, a group celebration of some sort and a number of couples made for a good ambiance and the few staff on front of house duties had their work cut out to keep everyone happy. The restaurant were offering a set menu of 2 courses for £21.50 or 3 courses for £25.50 however on the day we were struggling a little to find something for a mains dish that tempted us so we opted to go a la carte. My wife chose Pan Fried Fillet of Sea Bass on sea herb & crème fraiche risotto, with crispy pickled mussels and white grapes (£22.50), whilst I selected West Coast Fillet of Cod in a tiger prawn & coconut curry with Jasmine rice (£22.50). We hadn’t ordered starters, in favour of dessert, and there was a noticeable delay in our main courses being delivered to the table (about 45 minutes after we had arrived). However it was worth the wait. The sea bass was nicely cooked and the risotto tasty but my wife was being hopeful as regards the crispy pickled mussels and personally didn’t like the taste. I was the fortunate recipient of them instead. The cod was light and flakey and the curry sauce, interspersed with prawns, was delicious. The Jasmine rice was suitably sticky to add to the plate as required and overall the dish was a delight. For dessert my wife had White Chocolate Panna Cotta, served with poached Plums & Biscoff crumb (£6.95). She thought the panna cotta was delicious however the plums had an overly firm texture and were lacking in flavour. My choice of Baked Alaska came with Limoncello curd (£6.95) and was very good - the curd in particular was delicious and a fresh strawberry half added to the taste. When we added a Hills & Harbour Galloway G&T (£6.65) for my wife and a glass of Fanta for myself (£2.55), plus a couple of Americano coffees (£5.50) served with coated nuts, the bill was just under £74 which is a fairly expensive lunch. However with the quality of the food it probably represents reasonable value for money in the current climate and we didn‘t need much to eat later! Service seemed a little “brisk” on this occasion but I expect that circumstances had much to do with this on the day. Previously it has been courteous, relaxed and friendly. If you enjoy good food, you will likely have a good meal at Casa Mia.

One star review – This is the first negative review I have submitted. My parents wanted to treat me to a birthday dinner here on the 6th of April so we were all disappointed when it took 1hour and 40 minutes to receive our first food . In business it’s all about making money as this restaurant knows well by being attentive with drink rounds. We never ordered a starter . After an hour my mother asked if there was something wrong with our order and the waitress said the kitchen was still doing starters and she would try her best to push the kitchen on . So from being a lovely occasion it turned into an irritable one for my parents. Food was nothing to write about – nothing on Dolce Vita. If you’re part of a big party then you will be fine here but not a place for dining. I still tipped the waitress 15% as it wasn’t her fault – this place is just a money making machine for the owners through drink – not quality food Gary Coupland MBE

Our regular haunt to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. 🍾🥂 Our wedding meal was here 13 years ago. Since then Casa Mia has been the place we go to celebrate anything special , especially those precious anniversary moments. 🍾🥂 We live in Essex and get up at 4am to drive 7hrs to Dumfries to celebrate an Anniversary lunch with the people we have become very fond of and drive back the same day to Essex. Seriously, the food is incredible and worth 14hrs in a car. The atmosphere is contagious and we say it every time, you can’t help smiling. You just need to look at the dedication of the staff, they are absolutely lovely, they are always on the go making sure everyone is having a lovely time. Our recommendations from today: Starters -we had the Deep Fried Brie and one of their specials the Pulled Venison Sausage Roll, absolutely delicious. Mains- Flat Iron Steak, Beef Stroganoff, incredible, total explosion of flavours! Desert- finished off with their awesome Sticky Toffee Pudding It feels personal for us, these lovely people made our Wedding Day incredible years ago and every visit it feels like we are coming home to family. An anniversary we won’t forget, thank you so very much 🥰

I was at Casa Mia,for the first time in a lot of years.I was there with friends, and I and 3 others thought it was very expensive for what's on offer.Food was mediocre, and went to pay at the end to be met with a very disgruntled young man in a suit. Because we were each paying for our own, this really through him into a bad mood,he told the last of us next time make sure you all pay together,we were treated like children ,each given our slip and each having to wait in turn for him to sort it out.Surely in this day and age it could all have been worked out easier, without his words of advice, which in our opinion was very unprofessional.Pam Walker

We've visited Casa Mia half a dozen times now, taking overseas guests there as well as just us as a couple, and each time it has been excellent. The food is wonderful and the welcome and service superb - these folks really know how to run a restaurant, they get everything right. A few months back while the service and food were still top quality the menu was a little out of balance for our taste - a bit too rich and meat focused (our diet is mainly vegetarian and fish). Though it did suit the meat-eating guest we had taken with us. But on our most recent visit the menu had been updated and once again we had a selection of very appealing dishes from which to choose. Credit to all at Casa Mia for the dedication and sheer hard work which goes into the whole operation and giving diners a great experience week in, week out

Went for lunch with friends. The place was jam packed so it was hard to have a conversation with anyone not sitting right next to you. It was over an hour before any food was served. My starter was very cold, making the bread soggy. The curry consisted of a flat, processed piece of breaded chicken with some curry sauce over it and some grated veg on top of a bowl of rice. I could have made that at home if I cared for processed food! We actually had to move our whole table to ensure the waiters didn’t keep bumping into our chairs on their way past. And wrap up warm as it’s chilly in there!

Was in D&G for a short break and was recommended Casa Mia by a friend who knows Dumfries well. Great tip! It’s not a restaurant you’d stumble upon as it’s a bot out of the centre of town on a quiet residential street. We ended up here on Sunday night as Saturday was fully booked but it was also really busy on the Sunday when we arrived, which was a great sign. The food was excellent throughout - we had the cornbread with cheese custard as an appetiser and I knew the rest of the meal would be great as that was super tasty. From then on each dish was really nice with very generous portions. Fortunately we had enough room left to share a Baked Alaska which was absolutely terrific!

We booked on spec as it was not far from our B and B and we’d heard it is one of the best places in Dumfries. It really was good food and service. The wine was good too. It is a bit subterranean and although the spacing inside is OK it didn’t feel well ventilated. It’s the ground floor of a building on a slope so the floor above is street level on the other side of the building. So there aren’t really doors or windows on three sides and it is cavernous. There is a fair amount of outside seating which for some reason they weren’t using, which is a shame it would have been nice and given it mire of a European feel. Overall though we enjoyed it and would return

In general the food was good. But ....... my starter was on toasted bread that had been burnt and the burn scraped off. I know that I should have sent it back, but that would have meant my wife eating alone. Not ideal. Instead I informed the waitress. And it was from there that our opinion of the place went down. She brushed it off, but promised to tell the chef. I expected an apology - nothing! In fact, the service then became even more distant and impersonal. Was it because i had made a complaint?

We stopped in Casa Mia to meet friends to split up the long drive north, and it was absolutely worth the short detour off the M74.Greeted with a warm welcome the first thing that struck me was the attention to detail applied to everything, even to the point where a second waiter was arriving at our table with a high chair I was about to ask for, as we arrived at the table ourselves. This set the tone for our meal.We shared the Grilled King Prawns for starters, proper king prawns, succulent and flavour full of sweet garlicy goodness. I had the sea bass risotto that came with these pickled fried mussels that blew my mind, while the Mrs. had the Rigatoni which I know was good because there wasn’t any way she was going to share it.All the while the staff were brilliant at making sure our daughter was distracted with a stream of food; a bowl of pasta, chopped grapes, chopped strawberries… and the service was seamless, natural, and effortless the whole way through. Naturally, all this put together made our meal a pleasure, and actually has promoted a lively discussion as to when we can next make the trip.

Because of current restrictions my party was cancelled so my husband booked us a table here instead. What had been a disappointing birthday was changed by the great staff and fantastic food and service.Highly recommend Casa Mia to anyone who wants a great meal in lovely surroundings.

So disappointed ,Returned here to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday meal this year on 24th October and it was like a totally different restaurant from last year, we have been raving to everyone about the great service and steaks we got here but sadly this was not the case this time,it was as if the staff were just going through the motions there was no interaction whatsoever,we got put at a table ( even though the restaurant was empty at 3.30) right next to the door to patio ,so asked if we could close it as it was really cold but was told no so we then asked to get moved. We had starters which were good enough but then we had our steaks our medium ones were like burned charcoal on the top and next to no blood inside. We asked if we could get a drink outside after our meal but again staff were not that interested and said oh you might get a bench to sit at but probably not a patio heater one. So sorry to be writing this but as I said it was my husbands 60th birthday and had expected more.

Starter was nice, main was disappointing! Both gammon and sirloin were poor. About 5 mains to choose from. About 105 bottles of red wine to choose from. Waiter had no knowledge on wine. Not for me ...

Had booked an early table at 6pm for dinner and it was very quiet. Presumed not many eating out due to Covid 19 and uncertainty in Scotland as new restrictions were being announced. Not so long afterwards more people arrived and so the atmosphere was lifted. Tables are well spaced out and a one way system in place. Food we had was very nice, I enjoyed the pan roasted chicken with fennel and haggis bon bons, Hubby had the gammon steak- probably not the nicest he’s ever eaten, but still good. There is an autumnal fixed price menu which seems good value, we chose from the a la carte. Overall, nice place with parking to the rear- would recommend.

We found this via Google maps and as it was the closest to our hotel, a mere 15 mins walk away we took a chance. The menu looked good and varied so we're optimistic. We were NOT to be disappointed. Welcomed by the staff, nice covid friendly route to our table. Excellent service from the staff.Drinks and 3 courses came at a time flow that was most acceptable. The food itself was excellent. Hot, good portion size, tasty and well presented. For a Monday evening, it was quite busy and clearly a number of regulars eating there.Have no hesitation in recommending, but avoid the Scottish Tablet ice cream if you're diabetic. It's virtually all sugar. Lovely but not healthy. Will visit again if ever in this part of UK again.

On a weeks holiday in the area and having spotted heavy rain forecast for the day decided to book Casa Mia for lunch. We were not disappointed. The food service and ambiance were all outstanding. The lamb rump main was to die for as was the haggis cigars. The VAT reduction did help with the bill but it would have still represented good value for money without it.

At first glance it does not look like a restauaran but on entry WOW it is huge inside with more than adequate space for socila distancing . the staff were friendly and very attentive The food was well presented excellent size portions and cooked to whatever your preference was. I had heard from people that it was a top class restauarant and well worth a visit I can confirm that this was excellent advice. I would recommend a visit as in my opinion One of the best if not the top 3 in Dumfries and Galloway. thank you to the staff for their attentive display in what made a bleak(weather wise) night worth coming out for.

The food and service here is always first class and on our recent visit Butrint Gashi and his team proved they can extend this high standard to the measures they take to keep their diners safe during these troubling times. Staff wore visors and masks, cutlery and condiments were brought to the table after we were seated and clear floor markings guided you round the restaurant. We were even offered the opportunity to open and pour our wine ourselves rather than have the waitress do so. We will certainly be back.

We first visited Casa Mia about 5 years ago following the recommendation from friends who are regulars. Now we never visit the town without a visit to the restaurant and it is always a joyful experience. On this particular visit it was on par with previous visits, the food and ambiance was excellent and Buti and his very professional team provided a very high and excellent level of service. The food and drink menus are extensive, a favourite starter is the Haggis Cigars, over the year’s had many choices and have never been disappointed. Due to social distancing guidelines It is a little different from previous visits as you are unable to have a pre-drink in the bar area but Casa Mia have been at the front in putting our and their safety before anything else and that is evident and appreciated. We arrived at 2000 and left after Midnight so think that speaks for itself and that is our normal. I’m delighted that Casa Mia have picked up from where they left off pre COVID and that is at the top, believe me when I say you will not find better in Dumfries.I am originally from Dumfries but now live in London and they could give many London way a run for their money. We enjoyed so much that next week before we leave we will visit again rather than trying another newish restaurant/bar in town as we know with Casa Mia what we are going to get.

Been many a year since we visited the Casa Mia. We had our wedding anniversary dinner here on Monday night, and WOW!, it is a fabulous place to dine. The food was real good, fillet steaks cooked to perfection, warm salad, was a treat too, just so good. The staff were always on hand, for any queries, and very friendly, especially towards our grandchild Mia, whom enjoyed her visit too. The decor is spot on, the ambience was lovely, the toilets spotless, all in all, definitely return very soon. Thank you to our server with the blond hair, she ensured we had a superb night.

I have visited The Casa Mia Multiple times and never been disappointed but I think they truly excelled last night. For a special Birthday surprise, we pre ordered a hot seafood platter for our starter which was served as mix of lobster, prawns, squid and Succulent mussels in a slightly spicy sauce. Absolutely amazing! For my main, I ordered the delicious oven roasted rump of lamb which I always find hard to resist when served with rosemary roast potatoes and veg!As usual the staff were friendly and attentive. Can’t recommend the Cassa Mia enough!

2nd Visit - I stayed this time at Kirkcudbright Bay Hotel for three nights. A mixed experience. The best about the hotel is the food....exceptional, tasty. I had the fish and chips which was breaded in panco breadcrumbs which was super crispy and super delicious. Breakfast was hot tasty and traditional though the cereal selection was limited. The downside to my stay was my room (No.1).....comfortable and warm but very dated and had an alarmingly large amount of extensions. I'm a technical person so that was a bit concerning. Even though the website says the room are serviced daily you have to advise the staff prior which I missed the first night. Another slight thing even though I knew this prior, is they don't do evening meals on Tues/Wed which is a pain if your struggling to get booked in somewhere else. 9/10 for food, 6/10 for remainder. 1st Visit - I popped in for an evening meal and wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff, well cooked, tasty steak pie and a cracking pint of IPA. Will look at staying here in the future. A++++

Omg this place is top class!! Previous Michelin Star, they haven't dropped their standard. 2 or 3 course set menu, the menu had a map of Scotland titled The Larder, showing where their ingredients are sourced. I had the best Cheese Soufflé I've ever had, large for a starter and so cheesy tangy. Hubster had the salmon marinated in beetroot, on the small side but delicious. Beautifully rare lamb for main with a filo pastry black pudding, and a lamb samosa, so minty, amazing accompaniments and presentation. Hubster upgraded to a Rib Eye, said it was the best he'd ever had. Chef wasn't keen on serving it blue, but it was perfect. We were full really but couldn't resist the dessert menu. White chocolate rice pudding... omg just the best! And sticky toffee pudding. We'd mistakenly booked a bar table, and couldn't understand why we couldn't move to the restaurant as there were free tables, but the service was excellent, attentive and friendly. It was all amazing, thank you guys 👏

It's a great shame that this place will be closing shortly because the food and the staff are so lovely! Super according to a coeliac and went above + beyond in everything. Best of luck to Mr Pooks and all those involved in this little gem.
