A really pleasant pub, much larger then expected but maintains it's atmosphere. Staff are very polite and friendly without being unecessarily attentive. The food was delicious and good value for money. Dog and child friendly. Would recommend.

We booked at table for 8 for Sunday lunch. Restaurant was busy but not packed. Service was slow and atrocious. We genuinely felt unwanted and considering we were there to spend money there was no attempt to accommodate any of our needs. Some of our party waited an hour and a half for something to eat. The food was underwhelming and uninspiring. We waited so long for the dessert menus, we paid and left. No attempt was made to apologise for the delay.

We ate here a week ago while we were in yorkshire visiting my husbands relatives. As we had travelled up with our dogs we chose this place because it was dog friendly and it definately was. The dogs were brought their own comfy bed to lay on, a water bowl and a treat by the staff. 5* just for that alone! The food we ordered was absolutely delicious. We were really glad we found this place and sad its so far away and we cant visit more often. If we are in yorkshire again we will definately be returning!

We have not visited since two bad experiences post Covid! We recently heard some excellent reviews so booked for a meal! Wow what a difference, back to pre pandemic food fabulous, staff friendly, helpful and professional! Definitely back on my favourite list! We will be back and definitely recommend a visit. Jess was our waitress and so helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the lady who took us to the table but she was lovely and customer service 100%. Well done for getting it back to high quality.

Visited with a large group and the service was excellent. The food was excellent,as was the choice and value for money. Accommodation is also superb and I can highly recommend this place, for any occasion. The staff are extremely efficient and friendly and absolutely enhance the experience. Drinks are also tip top, as is the selection.

Came for Sunday dinner, thought going early would mean it was fresh however the roast potatoes were hard to cut and the chips were like rubber, wasn’t much veg selection which was disappointing due to the good reviews we were looking forward to eating a nice meal. £22 for roast beef and £22 for fish and chips- not worth it, didn’t bother with desert

We came here Sunday 28th July. It wasn't a great experience. We followed the signs from the main road, not knowing what we'd find. It's a lovely place don't get me wrong. We sat outside at the front. When enquiring about food the bar staff didn't seem very interested so we gave up and just had a drink. The disinterest left me feeling I wasn't wanted, my money wasn't good enough just because i was in my walking shorts and tshirt. While the sunny position and quiet tables were good, we left a bit put out, and it put a dampener on what had otherwise been a brilliant day.

Food was good and service was excellent they were really great with our dog too, but when they got busy things started to not be excellent and desert, coffee (didn't turn up) and the bill took ages... Really want to give this cracking pub 5 stars but will have to go again sometime. Update: Tried again more recently and almost exactly the same experience, food was excellent and service very friendly but again we gave up waiting to pay and paid at the bar

Really enjoyable meal on a warm sunny evening. We were sat in the dining room off the back of main bar area, which is a nice open plan area with a further small private dining area off to the side. We had a lovely crispy chicken starter with salad, followed by a pork belly main and a salmon burger with chips. All the food was cooked really well and the service was very prompt, friendly and efficient throughout. There was a nice large terrace to the rear of the dining area with good views across the fields. We’ll visit again if we’re in the area.

Staff friendly and helpful, service was great, food exceptional Love that there are dogs beds though in the bar for your special friend when in for a quiet pint. Up where we are from you never see this atall Makes the place feel cosy and welcoming and relaxed All great qualities for a bar and restaurant

Lovely rooms nice views and wonderful gardens. The rooms are chalets. Food is fantastic. But we were very disappointed with some things that should not happen or should have been picked up before checkout. Other rooms food and drink bills put on ours. Especially when they were not near us in rooms other side of garden. Plus there were 4 of them. Really need a show your room key number and name before putting on a room tab. Good job the young girl on reception was on the ball the following morning. Also when we sat in comfortable chairs there was the previous peoples plates drinks and things just left for ages there. I had to go up in the end and ask. Even then they weren’t taken so had to ask one of the staff. Doing other tables that nobody was sat at to please clear other people’s dishes of the table we were sitting at. Just lacking I’m afraid attention to detail. I know hospitality is struggling with staff but come on guys it really is not good.

Two fears I usually have whenever I travel to a place to eat: the hygiene and having severe picky eating. If you have these fears like me, rest assured that Carpenters Arms has excelled in all aspects - lovely and understanding staff, beautiful interior, the bathrooms were in beautiful condition. For what the place is too, the food was cheap and delicious! Hope I will visit again eventually!

Brilliant Gem of a Country inn , just outside Thirsk , stumbled upon it by chance while out visiting English heritage sites . They were extremely busy when we called in but seated us for a meal with no fuss at all . The meal I had A roast pork dinner was superb , and my partners meal a roast beef dinner was also excellent , I never eat cauliflower and cheese , but when they brought a pot of it to the table it looked and smelt amazing.....I tried it and loved it . Staff were excellent all round , the establishment was spotless with great on site parking , the outside space at the back was simply amazing....with plenty of space , seating and amazing views. We will definitely return next time we are in the area .

Popular, beautiful old pub in the countryside with stunning views. Atmospheric especially due to Christmas decorations & snow. Staff courteous & attentive. Meal was "ok"...however roasties tough, sprouts, carrots & swede tasteless & cabbage swimming in water. Turkey, stuffing & pig in blanket very nice & tasty as was the pud. £28 for 2 course meal. Enjoyed our Xmas family gathering there. Would visit again & recommend the Carpenters Arms. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you all.

Went to the beeswing with my family for tea. Firstly we were greeted by a lovely waitress we hadn't booked and the restaurant was busy but she found us a table no problem. Drinks arrived swiftly and our order was taken. The children's meals came and they were huge. Plenty for my 11 and 12 year old children. Our meals were delicious, very big portions but at no sacrifice to taste. Staff were friendly, bubbly and couldn't do enough for is even though it was busy.

This used to be good, well the quality is still reasonable; ignoring brown bits on the salad. But the quantity has shrunk and if memory serves this is just as the price increased. Now I know times are hard but it might explain how we easily got a seat. Coffee, toastie and cake x2 cost more than two main meals and two drinks last night. To put it this way we called in to a pie shop on the way home.
