Caribou Poutine in Liverpool

Was passing and absolutely love poutine so decided to pop in. Around 5 members of staff at the counter and was ignored for what seemed like forever. No I contact nothing. I ordered steak poutine and my son ordered salt and pepper poutine. If it was for the salt and pepper chicken one this review would have 1 star. My steak was swimming in gravy and hardly any chips! Half the size of my son's. His was however delicious. I will agree with others it seemed pretty dirty and at £24 for chips and a drink each I think it's very overpriced. Definitely not the best in the north! Brewski is hands down

Ordered delivery. The maple chicken poutine looks nothing like the photos anymore. The chicken was dry, small and the food felt stale. It's a real shame as I was a regular but the quality is a lot worse than it used to be. I don't think I will be ordering again for awhile

First time taking family here to introduce to poutine. We all got steak with our poutine which is what I usually have. Chips , cheese and gravy very good (but not very hot). Lots of gravy. Unfortunately the steak for everyone was tough and chewy and not enjoyable. Was perfectly cooked but quality was poor. I’d eat the poutine again but not the steak. The steak had always been tender (when I ate at the seel street location ) but not this time. Maybe they are using poorer quality. 4 people saying steak was tough can’t be a one off.

We went for the first time ever on Friday 8th March in the afternoon and again the following Saturday 16th March in the evening and both times the staff were fantastic and so helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious and it is definitely going to be one of our go to places for food 5* all the way and highly, highly recommend

Constant fly-tipping on Pilgrim Street, blocking pavement and garage entry... staff and company do not seem to care about the local community.

We live close by and are continually subject to this restaurant fly tipping outside of property. We have taken pictures and tried to contact them on 3 occasions and never had a response. This evening, it blocked the garage to our home and as they had dumped rubbish all over Pilgrim Street (which alley gates back onto the restaurants kitchen), it had not been collected and the staff on duty only reaction was to move this further up the street... this is food waste and attracts vermin. It is clear that rubbish will remain there... If this is their approach to waste disposal, I would not recommend eating at the restaurant!!! Disgusting. We have forwarded pictures to Liverpool City Council having being given no other option.

Calorific food ! Beware of the ranch sauce which is heavily laden with salt and makes the food unpalatable for a discerning palette! (This sauce needs to be taken off menu and exchanged for a decent ranch sauce .Lots of emphasis on dirty fries with some chicken on top . Reasonable value for money . The cakes are costly but very tasty!

We decided to eat in. FREEZING COLD! My poutine wasn't hot enough to melt the curds. Very disappointed. We've eaten at Catbou since it opened in Skater Street. Won't be returning

Food was tasty and the good portion size but unfortunately the gravy, fries, maple chicken and steak were barely lukewarm. Would have been 5 stars if it was served hot to melt the garlic butter and curds

we can tell you made the serving sizes smaller.. just increase the price by a quid or something and bring the original quality/portion size back please, you were amazing up until about a month ago. there wasn't even any cheese curds on the two I ordered, is it even poutine at that point? was a long-time customer, now i'm sad and not sure if I want to order again.

Unfortunately they have got greedy!! smaller chip portions and less cheese curds so now it's just chips and gravy with a slight cheese taste for 5.50 don't think I will be back

Asked for extra cheese and did not get any at all, it was clearly acknowledged as extra cheese was written on the box. Got the maple bacon chips and the bacon was completely burnt.

Great take way food but now with less meat added to the dishes and you are paying even more

Before I posted here, I have ordered three times from these amazing people. You feel their passion for poutine in every bite. All 3 times were perfect. Their poutine is that type of food which doesn’t need any additional ingredients or doesn’t missing anything, it’s just perfect. Deffo is in my list of preferences and I highly recommend to anyone! Big and mouthwatering portions, perfect medium rare steak, savoury gravy… it’s insane in the good meaning of this word!❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been coming here for years and without a doubt every time a friend comes to visit, I always proudly take them here! The food is 10/10 and service is always fantastic and as fast as they can go. Today on a busy Saturday, they were extremely busy and when I got the wrong order (my fault, it was complicated) they insisted on making me the correct one despite me saying it’s OK. Wonderful service, just hoping the owner will hire some extra people to help their staff on a Saturday :)

Your opening hours are poor. You need to stay open later. The drunk people want poutine.you are missing out on so many valuable customers we would give you so much money. You would recognise us and we could be friends but now we can’t cause you are never open. This is so disappointing to me and my friends.

I've usually always had a nice experience here however lately customer service, food and hygiene wise it seems to be going very downhill. The last 3 times I've been have been awful, the staff were rude, the place was dirty the food was cold (steak chewy unedible and freezing). I always order gravy separate but on my recent visit they forgot to put it in the bag and when I politely asked about it whilst juggling 3 bags one of the workers dumped it on the counter and said "oh yeah here it is", it spilled when put in the bag and when I asked for a tissue rudely stated and pointed they're at the end leaving me to awkwardly clean everything up. Also I ordered a steak poutine with crispy onions which they charged an extra 40 pence for and didn't even put on!!! (Shown on pictures) I think the staff should be more aware of what 'customer service' means. They treat people (aswell as uber eats drivers) like intruders in their home and one specific worker, ginger with glasses seems to think she's the owner!! Bossing all the others around. Definitely needs another trip from the hygiene inspector because it's clear that it shouldn't have been even given a 3 out of 5 Star Food hygiene rating. Safe to say it's not a place I look forward to visiting anymore and I definitely won't be.

I uses to visit Caribou at least twice a week as I live right around the corner and the quality of the food was amazing until Aaron left. Since then there has been a clear difference in the quality of food and general hygiene of the food and shop, and customer service is so disappointing. The staff don't appreciate the customers at all, they forget that we are the people who keep the business running and treat people like they shouldn't even be in there. The quality of the food isn't near as good as it used to be, the portion sizes have decreased massively for how much you're paying, the chips taste asif they have been reheated as does the steak, which is always rubbery and barely edible now. And the gravy which used to be flavourful and thick has gone very watery and tasteless. Very dissapointing! Surely won't recommend this place to anyone in Liverpool and most likely won't be returning again.

Ordered food here few times from food delivery apps, but went in for the first time today. Great service, food and especially lovely staff! They even gave me a few sausages for the dog, it was so thoughtful. Highly recommend

Ordered on uber eats and the food was 10/10. Both me and my girlfriend were gutted tonight because we couldn't order but I guess thats what happens when you're the best restaurant around, gets too busy!!!

Something different in the heart of Liverpool. I enjoyed it here nice to see Canadian culture coming overseas. Its all gravy!

Got the maple fried chicken poutine and it was perfect, then followed it with the cinnamon roll which is the nicest one I’ve ever had, will definitely be going back to this place. Top marks

Waited 40mins for an order... I don't know the hygiene score, but I reckon the inspector should go back in. Table had old food under cutlery jar, and guy stratching his beard over the orders. We left with a refund.

Food fabulous and excellent portions. Disappointed in cleanliness of cafe. Floor behind counter was filthy. If you sit in corner table you can see right into food prep area and floor had not been washed that day at least. Floor under tables didn't look as if they had been brushed for few days. Sorry but just takes the edge away from fantastic food.

Always wanted to try poutine and did it not disappoint. Really nicely cooked steak too.

Ordered out from there. All I can say is lost for words. The food is so delicious. The portion sizes were massive 👌 always a bonus and the deserts are the best and freshest I've had in a long time. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Superb flavors! Very tasty poutine with good portion sizes. Great quality steak! Don't skip on the sweet treats! Expect some wait times based on pick-up orders. But everything gets freshly prepared. They got a handful of seats/tables available. Everything, even when dining in, is served in paper dishes which results in a lot of rubbish!

Meh! Chips, cheese and gravy should be as lovely as it sounds but there are issues here that means 2 visits were enough to put us off a 3rd. 1st time was OK, the vegan poutine was very nice, a bit of spice to the gravy and once I'd added the crispy onions it was really tasty. My OH had a steak special but the steak was rubbery. Although the Cinnabuns are gorgeous £3.20 each is way to pricey, a nice trest though. 2nd visit, they were out of a lot of ingredients and I nearly walked into a trap by ordering a vegan mozzarella fella...after questioning the ingredients it turned out that the mozzerella wasnt vegan and they used the same cheese as the vegan poutine, seeing as they were also out of onions, I would have paid them a couple of quid more and just got the basic vegan poutine if Id not spotted it. The server had no allergy knowledge about lactose presence in mozzarella...kept saying it was vegetarian when I was asking about whether it was real dairy and had lactose, the menu board says ask for vegan (and you can get vegan mozzarella subs elsewhere)! We ended up with a really disappointing meal, 50% of the chips in the container were fluffy and had the unpleasant texture of reheated chips. Had stomachache for hours after eating them. The vegan salt and pepper nuggets were bland and dry, not the salt and pepper heat and lovely flavour expected at all and expensive for portion size too, the buffalo chicken pieces worked out at a £1 each but were the size of a fat finger each and covered in a horrid acrid sauce. Never going back. Make our own poutine 1000x better at home. Some really miserable staff members on both visits too.

The vegan maple poutine is just incredible, it lifts my mood after a bad day! If you have room left, squeeze in a piece of the vegan biscoff fudge cake afterwards 😋

Went here with a few friends tonight and may have accidentally found one of my favourite scrans in Liverpool so far; the service was extremely friendly, food was prepared quickly and to a good standard; and had me full before I knew it! Top nosh!

Just been here tonight after accidentally stumbling across this place. What an amazing accident that was. The food was amazing. Service was great! Well worth the money and will definitely come back when we are visiting Liverpool again. If you love poutine this is worth a try if you are in the area! I can highly recommend the salt and pepper topping!

My first experience of poutine and it was delicious, hot and fresh. I had the crispy salt and pepper chicken. It was very busy on Friday lunch time but we'll worth the wait.

Lovely food, great flavours and portion size. Only problem is the poor opening hours and the small restaurant size results in a long wait for food and no space.

Honestly addicted to this right now , I order this all the time on Uber eats and it always hits different. This is so god dam tasty, God himself would think the food is divine. 10/10

Just the best, dirty, cheat scran you'll ever have in your life, just don't eat it too often for your heart's sake! I had my doubts first about the whole gravy-cheese combo but them Canadians are on to something here you know. That cinnamon bun would put Cinnabon out of business as well, deffo grab one of them with your next order; I know £3 is steep but it's worth it if you can afford it!

The vegan poutine is 10/10. But this venue needs far more vegan items - there is no reason why this place shouldn't aim to be 100% plant-based/vegan.

My favourite ever take away! Salt&Pepper Chicken poutine is my fav of all. Couldn't live without poutine anymore haha

I love caribou poutine, especially the original which I’ve got many times however when I’ve tried other options that include the bacon it is SO salty. The most salty food I’ve ever had to the point it burns my mouth a bit and makes you feel a bit unwell after. If this is how it’s supposed to be please ignore and I would rate 5 stars but my only feedback otherwise would be to potentially source less salty bacon?

I ordered a fried maple chicken over the phone. Went to collect, gave my name, and the girl gave me a different order. I repeated the order, and she said I hadn't specified the order clearly enough on the phone (I couldn't have been clearer). She then gave me a different order that was wrong, again I clarified it was one fried maple chicken poutine. She suggested somebody else had made the phone order which had led to some confusion. No, it was me. Finally got the correct order but also the distinct impression I was in the wrong. I understand when things are busy orders can get mixed up, but don't make the paying customer feel like an idiot when they've done nothing wrong. Food was good but this interaction left a bad taste in the mouth.

Lovely staff, nice food and great playlist!! Only thing stopping me from a 5 star review is that the layout of tables is compact and difficult to get through and there seemed to be only one vegetarian(vegan) option..? The food is great though! Massive portions (maybe too much for lunchtime if you have work to do afterwards 🤣) Id love to go back to try their sweet treats!!

Nevertheless, I wanted to taste you, inhale your spirit of earth - the dead gods' energies. And wow, how humbled I remained sitting on the stairs next door trying to survive the finish of our short but heavy relationship. You're a dramaesque Elizabeth, but worth every effort. Thank you.

Geat food great atmosphere but time to time they are very busy and you have to wait very long to get the food. The staff plays obscene rapmusic from the speakers containing f word etc.... Not a kid and family friendly place because of that.

Just had food ordered via Uber eats. I can highly recommend this place! Food is really good, was fresh and still hot when it reach our doorstep. Portion is huge and we couldn't eat all at once :)

I love Caribou Poutine, but I have one small thing that's been a thing a few times... My orders of maple fried chicken is extremely inconsistent witht he amount of maple syrup... Sometimes I get load (which I LOVE!) And other times I can barely even notice that they are MAPLE fried chicken. I mean it still tastes good, but I want my maple chicken with MAPLE😂

What a gem! My first poutine ever, loved it! Basically a take away but a few tables to wait for food/ eat in. Nice atmosphere too, I felt completely comfortable as a woman eating on my own on a Saturday night. 😋

Fantastic place, everytime I travel to Liverpool I have to come here. Wish they had a place in Manchester. Highly recommended.

Favourite takeaway in Liverpool. Love their good so much. And their service is insane. I requested they add the option for vegan curds on more of their meals, and for this change to be on Just Eat apps etc, on Instagram. And this was done by the next week when I ordered from them. I felt really heard and cared for by their team.

Came here as my partner is Canadian and wanted to try their vegan poutine! I don’t eat poutine so I got a side of vegan chicken, (fyi they do come with veg I didn’t realise so we ordered one without as I wasn’t able to eat it) but I was very glad they did a plain version for me the chicken was great for a non vegan place. My partner said his poutine was incredible

Great place, staff work hard! Food is amazing and very well priced. Also I got a cinnamon roll from here and it lasted me a week it was so big and decadent. Will continue coming here when I've got the craving!

Fab food excellent friendly service. Having quite a big choice as a veggie left me stumped but on the bright side is a reason to return to try an another dish.Independently owned which is another plus. Eat in or take away. They did have some cakes that also looked good but I couldn't finish my meal so had no room. Will deffo return (quite often I expect).
