Cardamon in Neath Port Talbot

We get take out here at least once a month, sometimes more. It's been 10 years or more, and we've never been disappointed. They've never messed our order up, the quality of food is consistently brilliant, and the staff are always an absolute delight. I'd give 10 stars if they were available, and if you're looking for a new dish recommendation, the Handi or the Kotchi are absolute winners.

Absolutely the best chicken tikka pathia around,I should know. Eaten the same meal for 20 years at numerous Indian restaurants and this is the tastiest.

Nice Indian with long time no see friend and colleague. Some good choices and ample amounts. Had to take some home as was so full. Sadly as we were leaving there was an old man eating like a pig 🐖

Let me start by saying the 3 star review is not for the food but rather the service. The food here is amazing and has a lasting taste. However………. This is only if you come to the restaurant and book in advance. If you order for delivery that’s a different story. Issues have been between a long delay in food being delivered (Once I had to wait for over 2 hours with no explanation when I contacted them). Also been told that they couldn’t find my address and driver didn’t know my area (although I live less than 5 minutes from restaurant and again after I contacted the restaurant). I would recommend coming to the restaurant as you would have fresh and tasty food. Just don’t expect the same if you order for delivery.

I called here last night with 2 friends, we hadn’t tried this restaurant before and after reading the reviews we thought we ought to. Restaurant is a little tired, we ordered chutney tray and pompadoms, the pomadoms were stale, 100% not made that day. The starter was ok passable from all, the main dishes came out in stages not at the same time and was Luke warm, the main meals were very very greasey far too much oil, we sat there along with another table after our meal with table full of plates no attempt to remove, the young man and young lady who were front of house sat by the bar on their phones, the service was awefull unless we were there at a bad time. We eat at indian restaurants regularly and this is far from the best, especially as the reviews say totally the opposite we scored it fair between the 3 of us and it gets an overall rating of 6. We won’t be visiting again.

This is the best Indian food myself & my husband have had in a very long time from the professional polite & helpful service on the phone to the taste of the flavours in our food. We ordered prawn starter & a Mixed platter starter. Chicken tikka main & tikka plater plus side orders of garlic mushrooms and scallops . Every dish was beautifully made . Very fresh and it was a late order as we had not long got back from our holiday. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant, great service from the staff who went out of their way to adjust items on the menu that my wife cannot eat. Food all freshly cooked and really tasty, would recommend and will be returning

Stopped off for a quick curry at Cardamon last night and had a great meal. The restaurant is located in a small village where there is parking nearby. There was three of us that needed a quick bite on route to a local business and the curry was amazing. I had a garlic Chilly Chicken dish and my Colleagues both had Lamb Vindaloos. All of the curry’s were spot on and the sundries were equally as good. The prices and service were both good. I recommend stopping off here if you are passing through. Great choice.

This restaurant is situated opposite the Arts Centre so an ideal place to have a pre-show/ concert meal. We had an excellent dinner here before going to a concert at the arts centre. The restaurant is clean and well presented. The food was excellent, the onion bhajis need a special mention. Recommended

I had takeaway on 21st December and it was burnt and I had to throw away. Tried to email them to complain but email not working their side. Usually eat there once a month but will not be going back there again .

Beautiful food. Had a meal deal for 2. £35. Absolutely perfect. Only thing i would change would be to offer the 2 rice as a 1 chips and 1 rice option

Easy to book, friendly, relaxed, quick service. Food was delicious and really well priced. Great selection of dishes from mild to hot. On a wet November evening this was a great place to escape to!

Went out for dinner with an old school friend. Luckily the awfulness of the experience was slightly comedic. Where to start: * The long wait to order (there were only 4 other tables being used) * The wine arrived and was deposited one the table. Had to try and corner the waiter to open it. The cork was a revelation and rather uncommon it appeared. * The dirty plate presented for my main - had to ask for a replacement. The request was met with a blank look, so had to highlight the residue from a previous diner on the plate. * When our food arrived, it was missing a number of items from the order. This caused quite the flap. *The Paratha bread which was one of the late items arrived 10 minutes after the main. I have never had paratha like it. Paratha is meant to be soft and flakey, sort of like a deep fried puff pastry. Not grey, doughy and resembling a pancake. The pastry was raw in the center. * When asked by the waiter how our food was, I pointed out the issue with the paratha to which he said nothing and walked off. As I say, all together it amounted to a rather comedic experience, but one I will not be repeating in a hurry.

First time eating here and would definitely go back. Starter, main course and side dish were all delicious and full of flavour. Service was excellent, staff were very polite and smartly dressed and decor and atmosphere was lovely. As a couple having dinner out it was perfect.

The food is nice but the price they are charging for soft drinks are absolutely atrocious, we were charged £4.60 for a pint of Lemonade absolutely shocking, it is far too much when you have 4 children dining with you 😡

Just back from a lovely evening at The Cardoman Indian Restaurant in Pontardawe. We had Hasina Chili Chicken and Kochi Murgh which were both really tasty. It was the best Kochi Murgh I’ve had! The staff were helpful, pleasant and very nice. I would recommend calling in for nice food and a pleasant atmosphere. It was a nice start to the weekend.

Excellent food with a range of dishes way beyond the usual Indian menu. Very tasty and served by a very efficient but friendly waiter.

Visited cardomon with a few friends twice since re opening under new management and had a great experience both times. food was great, waiters were lovely and polite and very helpful when deciding what to choose. Highly recommend!!

Consistently good food, friendly helpful staff and great service. Hard to beat. We have eaten here throughout more than 20 years and never had an unsatisfactory meal and the service has always been friendly and good. The chef is due to retire next week and it will be closing. It will be the end of an era but our thanks to everyone there for their service throughout the years. All the best for the future. 😃

Visited here on Tuesday evening at 9pm. Everything was cooked to order and delicious. There was plenty of it too. Enjoyed the naan breads, friendly staff and great value for money. Clean plates all round!

I have been coming to Cardamon for years and honestly, you cant beat the foods quality and taste. With the current situation that we are in with Covid-19 these guys are still producing amazing food and keeping to their high hygiene procedures. 💯 reccomend you will not be disappointed.

Just wanted to leave this review during these unprecedented times. We all think you guys are doing an amazing job! Anyone that thinks otherwise is a bit of a fool... These are difficult times for all and so what if your meal is 10 minutes late! Get a grip... Trust me their food is worth the wait! Well done lads

When ordering I was told food would be 1hour, after waiting 1hour 20minutes with family waiting for food to find out that food had not even started to be cooked yet, had to cancel with awful attitude and poor apologies from the person on the phone

After reading all the reviews we had a takeaway friday 27th March , two chicken dishes madras and masala had only 5 pieces of chicken in each and loads of sauce some pieces were hard two pieces didnt taste good at all , meal was also cold when delivered.

Lovely Indian when they actually give you hot food and don't forget anything of the order. I have ordered 4 times. The first visit they forgot my nann bread and the food was freezing, the manager demanded that I had to go back down to get new food and show that it was cold. Second time they gave me the complete wrong order and the chips were soggy as if they had been sat there for hours Third visit was actually lovely! Forth visit, they forgot my bottle of coke, when I opened the bag all the food was freezing cold.. The person on the phone. His response was "it can't be cold" I demanded that he bring me a new one as this wasn't the first incident. And when I say cold.. I mean I could literally hold all the metal cartons in my hands without even getting a feeling of heat!

It's been a while since I visited the Cardamon for an indian takeaway and likewise been a while since I had an authentic tasting, really great meal. Visited tonight and I'm glad I did. Great service and menu selection. Ordered via phone and picked up withings 30 minutes. It's the best takeaway I've had for a long long time. I ordered the Handi Pilli from the Cardamon Specialities menu and my husband ordered the vindaloo. Both curries tasted amazing! The restaurant is clean, designed well and presented very well. I'll definitely visit again!

1st visit: The first visit was certainly five stars. Amazing food. Really good atmosphere from a family run business. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Thank you to the staff for a really good evening. I would certainly recommend and will definitely be going back. 2nd visit - about 3 weeks later: After the enjoyable first visit with a friend I returned with my wife and son. Not so good this time I'm afraid. My wife ordered a paneer main dish. A few chunks of oven baked paneer, possibly pan fried, and lots of onion. I mean lots of onion. After she ate the few chunks, which lacked flavouring, she had the choice of filling up on onions. My meal, and my son's, were ok but not great. Sad to say, this second meal was disappointing. What a shame. 3-4 stars for a second visit I'm afraid with 5 for the first.

Wonderful service, warm welcome ,very clean 5 star rating hygiene. I've been a chef 31 years and I would highly reccomend the food,very tasty and arrived nice and hot and service here was great, friendly professional staff, and we weren't rushed to leave, never been before but will definitely come again.

Have ate here several times and thought it about time I reviewed it.firstly the gentleman who runs the restaurant is Mr Maj who's incredibly polite,informative,helpful,kind and immaculate.his staff are incredible and can't do enough for you.the restaurant is the cosiest cleanest friendliest of places with a wonderful ambience.the food is honestly the best I've ever had with a huge menu selection also a wide range of drinks too.all in all by far the best restaurant I have ever been too.

Lovely food and great service. served nice and hot. However service was so slow, hence the markdown as lowers the overall experience for me personally. However, the few times I have dined at Indian restaurants I have found the meals usually take a long while to come out. - I'm not sure if this is to try and get you to drink more? But hard work when dining with children. Sorry to have to rate down on this occasion.

Ordered a meal they said 40 min which was ok but when I got there they said another 10 mins so cancel it will never go back there they were pig ignorant

Really enjoyed our evening here, after a day spent meandering around the Brecon Beacons to mark our wedding anniversary. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone but really busy especially on weekends so would advise booking but also do take away which is just as nice.

My husband and I are visiting Wales for the bank holiday weekend and we looked for places to eat local and this came up. Very impressed with this little gem.Beautiful food, the staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. Lovely restaurant and very clean. I've read reviews about "having to wait for food" but in fairness if you want your food cooked properly you should be happy to wait. Highly recommended and being used to London prices we were VERY impressed with the cost.

Friday night curry whilst on holiday. Sadly failed to deliver. Service slow in spite of being fairly quiet. Popadoms & chutneys okBut the mushroom Dansak wasn’t great at all, far too hot and lacked any resemblance to the dish I have had many times. Other items ordered were acceptable but service so slow we had to ask three times for top up drinks. Clean and good facilities. But lacked in taste.

We chose this restaurant because It looked inviting, warm and friendly. It was exactly as we thought a delicious menu, comfortable seating, friendly staff who delivered our choice of food hot and tasty. Nothing too much effort to request from the kind staff.

The best curry in Pontardawe. Period. Service has been genuine and warm on every visit (and there have been a few!). Even remembering my name on the second. Food is always top notch, eating in our taking away.

This was a very good Indian restaurant but has definitely gone down hill, our meal was not hot and portion sizes have gone very small, we were not asked if we were enjoying our meal and whilst they were clearing our plates we commented on the meal not being to their usual high standard, only to told that the chef was the same and there had been no other complaints, in my opinion not good customer service. It's a real shame.

Today was a strange day in the hodgeson house hold, I'll set the sceen. Fairly famished I unpacked what was for less of a better word, my final resting stop when I had the wind truly put up my sails. There was I, and an suspecting victim I must add, what one would be labeled a sitting duck. Low and behold my moral went truly out the window. Since the day my order was placed, I have not been half the man I once was. Since that day, I was just an insugnicagnt being in the wider misconception I'd like to call, existence. I'd like to pinch my self wake up from the peral i would wish not on my enimy let Alone a one called close friend. Mo had that look in his eye that I can only describe as disturbing and almost heart felt at the same time as what I now know as to be the pinnicle of ponty life in its rawest form. He cast his cullanery black magic to a place I knew not exist. Startled by his slight of hand, he and his array of which craft left me blinded in ore, of his manipulating, cohersed presence of foul play hypocrisy. That's when I knew, the magic mushroom her shone down on page 2 of the menu we call his word, would never let me forget his tribute to what I now pronounce pontardawe

What a jewel this restaurant is. Its quiet calming decor is classy and relaxing, the menu is varied, and the quality of food is out of this world. The staff are so polite, attentive and deliver a speedy service. Speaking to the owner he told me everything is cooked fresh, and boy did it show. Fantastic place

Went for a takeaway 1st the web site states 20% off which is 10% ordererd a madras of which was like water ordered a jalfreze of which in other places is full of chillies and peppers and thick this was like the same watered down sauce as the madras poppadums tasted stale soft eith s stale taste which couldnt eat would not recommend if you know your indian curry wont be going back waste of money

Been going for years always been good. Lovely friendly staff, would be five stars but recently the meat in the curries hasn't been so nice, it's been as if the curry and meat were cooked separately and thrown together rather than being cooked together. I don't know if it's because of a changed cook or something but it was much nicer the old way and a lot I've spoken to agree
